Oh, thanks, I corrected it just after I posted :)
The forum seemed to add an extra 'http://' before the url.

Very nice.

Thank you :)

The frontend is fine, but unfortunately the backend server has fallen apart.

I was using the Bytecoin Block Explorer to grab the balance of the account, but it doesn't work anymore due to the way transactions work, the account is shown as empty(as it technically is), so I had to switch the entire backend process to manual work :/. I'm trying to fix this as fast as I can but I have to keep the faucet going, so I'm considering closing it for a few hours later today.

What does everyone think about having a mining pool that supports the faucet, as in a small percentage of the coins from each block go to the faucet?

Please leave any feedback or comments, and I'll try to set one up if the idea has a positive reaction  :)

Note: The Bytecoin Faucet will be down for a few minutes, I need to restart the server
I will edit this post when it is back up.

EDIT: Server back up :)

Created a P2Pool (modified by Gerco) mining server for the faucet

5% fee on pool, half of it goes to the faucet's funds.

I can't get any shares with reaper!
I get shares according to gui miner, but the server still won't log them.

Checklist:
  • Username = Your Payout Address
  • Password = 1
  • Checked the console to see if shares are actually being accepted
  • Aren't just submitting stale shares
  • Have a decent hash rate (e.g 10MH/s+ at least)

Try those things, if you can't find the problem post the console log here

It looks like the server isn't accepting your login details ('authorization failed'), so you aren't being registered and the server isn't accepting shares to your name :/

I'll see what I can do, this has happened to me before, as this seems to be a quite common problem with p2pool, or at least p2pool with bytecoin

Just to check, what miner are you using? GUIMiner? If so could you try mining with DiabloMiner instead and see if it works?

This pool is a scam or what? I'm submitting shares, they are accepted, blocks are solved by pool but there is no payout.

You are being paid, you can see at http://blockexplorer.bytecoin.in/address/8SCfz1Lg7fa3aXYsLvM2YHycQrFvyZEAoB.

You have been paid 6 times so far.

In your client the transaction should show up as 'mined', as in it comes directly from the block, with no tampering or stealing from the server :)

You don't seem to be, you aren't using GUIMiner, Reaper or Poclbm are you?

Try CGMiner or DiabloMiner, They are tried and tested with this server, people say they work well.

It works now. It takes a lot of time for pool to realise miner joined, is that normal?

A lot of time as in how long? It takes a while to generate each block on the pool as it only has about 5GH/s hash power, if that's what you mean. Also, P2Pool uses a PPLNS payment system, and it is handles mining quite differently to other pools, so that could have caused a slight delay, but payments should generally be instant when each a block is found :)

Thank you for your donation! It is much appreciated, already over 50 people have claimed bytecoins since you donated :)

I thought it would be nicer to personally thank you, as it is quite a big (even though BTE isn't really worth much right now) donation, more than the pool or anyone else has mined/donated :)

I stopped mining like 20 minutes ago but I'm still receiving payouts. That means there is some sort of fade-in and fade-out with pool.

Yeah, as I said, it's pretty different to most pools :P

It uses the Pay-Per-Last-N-Shares System:

Whenever a block is found, payment is given to shares in a window, starting with the last share submitted and going backwards up to some number N of shares. Shares older than the window are not paid. This is essentially a 0-1 cutoff decay function. There is no concept of rounds - shares can be paid even if they were found before the previous block. This means that a given share can be paid more than once - however, the payouts are chosen so that the expected reward is equal to solo expected reward. Because the payment for a share depends only on blocks found in the future and not on shares and blocks found in the past, there is no way to hop based on the current status of the pool. However, if implemented incorrectly, it is possible to hop based on imminent difficulty changes

Percentage of rejected shares is very high, over 20% on my side. Mining with either CGMiner or BFGMiner makes no difference. Blocks are no longer
solved every few seconds so there should be less rejected shares. Any fix for the issue?

Could you check your latency to the faucet page (hosted on the same IP as the pool)?

P2Pool relies heavily on low latencies, so if your connection is slower than others to the pool, it could mean that you get a higher number of rejected shares.

EDIT: I'm going to restart the server's internet connection, just tested it and it's *very* slow. Should be better in a minute, and the number of shares that are rejected should decrease :)

Restarted it. It's rather annoying how my internet connection decays over time, It's now 163.8x faster after a restart. 163.8 times faster.  :o

If the faucet or pool are extremely slow for anyone later, just post here or PM me and I'll reset the connection.

I might increase it to 0.1 for now, I'm just trying to find a balance between how much is donated/mined and how much is withdrawn (As there are over 300 payouts a day on average).

300 payouts * 0.5 = 150 BTE, which seems a bit much to give away in one day, and much more than what is mined for the faucet.

Understood, if 300 a day, agree 0.1 is better.

I tried mining the pool that feeds the faucet recently but got some JSON errors, will have another try later, would like to contribute to the faucet

Yeah, Really really sorry, the pool crashed while I was asleep :(

Everything should be working as normal now

Add CAPTCHA to faucet, else BOTs will drain all coins in a day. Seriously.

Yeah, I'm going to, I just don't think it is the main priority to prevent BOTs specifically for the faucet at this stage :) (Also there is only one payout per IP address and bytecoin address per day, they could use proxies but that seems like quite a lot of work for 0.1/0.05 BTE a pop)

Don't get the wrong idea, I'm going to try to add it, it's just slightly more difficult to do as the website uses ajax instead of posting data to the server

Thanks!

It might take a while to generate a block, as we lost a considerable amount of hashing power when the server crashed, so every contribution helps!

EDIT: Generated a block! We're getting back on track!
