It's definitely not going to reach that in one month . I understand that halving block reward effect start to take its place but that doesn't mean the price should sky rocket in a short period of time.
I say we could reach that amount but only after having SegWit full activated + Lightning network with it. (2017)

It depends on who will be the next president of USA. The elections drive USD downwards and BTC upwards.
After the elections the markets will stabilize. I don't expect BTC get over 1000$ until then and after that it could fall, then have again up and down around some value...which may be 850$ if we are lucky.

Honestly I do not care the date we cross the 1000 USD as long as I have enough bitcoin in my wallet when that time comes. I think we should not focus on when the price will get to that point. We should focus on making bitcoin better and having more of them bitcoin.

This year not, the next year not, so it has to happen after that.

I have to note that I understand that people would love to see the price reach the $1000 mark, but I don't see the point of speculating about it right now.

I will start with thinking and speculating about the $1000 mark once we finally go through $900 level, and not before that.

Because as it is, we're not safe from going back to sub $700 prices again any time soon. People have to realize that.

I have different opinion, this train is going for a long time now, with many ups and downs, barriers on the railroad, different problems with machine and wagons. We will cross that barrier, that is for sure, its just a question of time.
If I can make any predictions, and I`m not so big expert in making this kind of predictions, I made too many mistakes with that, I think price will get to  1000 $ before new year, or around that time.

some of the miners have already moved to roger vers "Bitcoin Unlimited" so we might break $1000 easily without even waiting for segwit implementation ......given that some miners are already willing and able to accept blocks up to 16MB

Nobody knows, since no people surely know where the exact price of bitcoin will go and surely all people thoughs are just purely speculation with no strong basis, and the thing we need to do for now is to wait and monitor to see if we can see huge bubble at the end of this year, and i really hope that theirs no bitfinix same issue will come up to bother the growth so the rally will continue to surge.

In my opinion  it would not  possible on this  year on reaching  $1k price even though we are seeing   price rally as of now  but  it wont continue on a short period of time as you can  observe there are still  price  decrease  but  i goes back up but now  its stabilizes again. We  just newly reach $740+ mark the remaining $250 amount to  reach 1k  is not possible  on 1 and half month.

Nah it's not happening in this year and certainly not in the next month. Yes the bitcoin is on rise right now but I doubt that it would cross 1k in this rise, I'm thinking it will most likely reach 1k in mid of next year or maybe later or little early. But its still very unpredictable.

That is pretty soon. The price has an upward trend and I know it is going to cross the 1000 usd very soon. If you are holding any coins, you better keep them safe because you might reap very big soon.

Dec 3 seems to be much close to experience $1000, with the ongoing increase price might reach $1000 by the year end but won't sustain long. Over the years to come price might get a standard value which won't fall beyond certain limit.

Well, I predict that it happened in the year 2017. in that I believe that it will create a new signal in the list of the highest price ever achieved bitcoin. it may be menjadin $ 1200 or even more, and it will make bitcoin is becoming increasingly popular, I just wanted to see it will become a reality

Men we are still fighting to leave the low 700 area.
I mean the last push was nice but I'm still not convinced that we we will move to 800+ or even 1000 soon.
Next year we might see the 1000 again.But it's still there is some way to go and there could be some unexpected hurdles we don't know about yet.

At the moment the situation is very positive,the price is slowly but steadily increasing.But we can see how price is go up and then suddenly fall like what was happening right now.If this trend continues it is difficult to expect that 1000$ can be reach in next month or by the end of this year.

On the other side if some big pump start,it can produce that price in two or three week very easy.My guess would be that 1000$ mark can be reach in next year,if there are no exceptional negative events like BitFinex hack.

i think your guess is based on getting hyped up because you saw some big profit. right now price has even gone down a little which shows that this rise has finally slowed down.

i expect to see $700-$730 for the following 2 months at least and there is even possibility of a temporary drop to $690 before the next rising step.

i think 2017 is more than enough for 1000 to be broken, 2018 will be another ath i guess, 1000 is not far away anymore we are at 750 already and we are heading to 800, another small pump and you are there

I am pretty positive we will see it next year at the latest. I can see that the gap is closing. FED interest rate hike in December, elections in the US, possibility of having a world war, mass immigration... All of those are just speeding up the process.

Whenever a dictator shows up and tells his people to don't do something, bitcoin will gain value. We are lucky, the world is being ruled by dictators. :)

I don't feel we will reach $1000 this year as the price is dropping now (it was $735 2 days ago and then it reached $710 yesterday). It's just testing the resistance now and the drop is due by the second week of November, going by the charts (it's going to drop after reaching $755-$770).

Price is pumping with some occasional corrections and if nothing bad came out price may easily reach $1000 by mid or end of next year. Hard to predict price as bitcoin market have lots of manipulation, FUD, pressure from government etc.

Exactly, $800 price can be achieved at the end of the year as price is moving upwards at a moment and if we don't see any bad news in next couple of weeks then that price is achievable but to see the price of $1k I think we need to have patience as it doesn't seems to be possible in this year.

I think Bitcoin will reach $1000 way before 2018. You can see that it can swing $100 a week. and there is 60+ weeks till 2018.

you are ignoring all the times that price has been stable on a fixed number. which means it takes much longer than one week to go up $100 because that previous period of time which price was stable and everybody was accumulating is considered the period of $100 rise. and then there is also the time after the rise where market becomes a bit unstable before it again reaches an stable state.

guess what? once the bitcoin is spreaded out, the price of bitcoin will soar in a few continuous days, but for me, it would be at least Q1 2017, because there are a certain pricing barriers like the upcoming economic crash (?).

Your guess Dec.3 would be fine if price continue to rise but now that the price fall again seems your guess date is too early. Maybe next year we would touch the $1000.

Lol, Do not worry bro. Nothing will affects the bitcoin's continuous price rise. We have might noticed and think about old flaws but as of present days. Bitcoin is getting adopted by many people and organization this will leads to get a good place for bitcoin and price value will increase to huge amount.

I don't really think it will happen this year. I have never experience a huge pump in Bitcoin price (more than 300 USD) within a month. And this should never happen as it will show the public that Bitcoin is very unsteady and hence they should avoid. Having a steady growth of around 100 USD on the other hand, seem positive and is somewhat closer to reality.

If we continue our trend, our train should be hitting the 1000 USD barrier within the first quarter of 2017.

as i suspected bitcoin price is not ready for $1000 yet. and it is not ready to go down either as we can see a good resistance is forming up to keep bitcoin price in $700+ range.

so to answer your question, although bitcoin is always unpredictable but you have to think at least mid 2017 for any price around $1000

Definitely, price is going to cross $1000 by the end of  december 2016 as we could see the price raising in a speed pace.If Bitfinex had not occured, we would have crossed $1000 by this time.

The price is going down at the moment and when i checked the market , bitcoin went down below $700, it seems there are many obstacles for the price to reach $1000 and it is highly unlikely that the price would reach those values by 2016.

Good guess. I also think that before 2018 the price will not be able to be kept under 1000. We are under 1000 because of manipulation, big hands are at play and they are not interested in making BTC fly just yet, they want to buy as much cheap BTC as possible before we go 5 figures.

I don't think we need to wait that long to see the $1k price of bitcoins, if everything goes smooth from now then we may even see that price by the end of the year and if not then it can touch that price at any point of time in the year 2017, but one thing is sure that it will definitely achieve that price sooner or latter.

My guess will be that we will have some sort of stopping news covering some type of negativity about bitcoin every time bitcoin will reach higher price.

Yes , I've same opinion with you . We might be stuck at $650-$750 , but that's good cuz it's slowly pace to bitcoin price is increasing . In last months , we've seen as we were stayed at +$600 for very long time and for now we're in $700 then for sure in few months we're in $800.

Ehhh...I don't think the election is going to be nearly as important as a lot of people on this forum think.  You know damn well bitcoin is global, and that (apparently) much of what drives the price comes out of China--whether Trump or Clinton get elected, I don't think bitcoin is going to feel it much.  Both choices of candidates suck ass, so bitcoin should rise, right?

I also think that the push to $1000 could happen a lot quicker than the speculators here think.  But the slower it happens, the better the chance for a sustainable gain.  Having another 2013 wouldn't be a good thing for the long-term HODLERS.

I also think that probably the prospective big raises in 2017 make take the price to 1000. Hope it is so at least.

but also don't forget that bitcoin price has been affected by much less than this. the most recent example is the FUD rumor about China and bitcoin which made the market unstable for a day or two.

It may look like so, but that's not the case. If the price remains to not go up for a few more days, or perhaps a week, then the impatient nature of people will make them dump, which will cause the price to sink towards $650-$670 this month.

I feel that the price of bitcoin will reach more than $ 1,000 in mid 2017, well maybe it is in June or July. I think that the rise in price of bitcoin will begin in early 2017, perhaps at that time will be very many people who are looking for bitcoin, causing rapid price increase

There's nothing that can put the price in $1000, bitcoin price will grown slowly, maybe it can double near the next halving, until there, the price will stay above 1000.

Nobody can tell u when we will cross that point of 1000$ per 1 BTC. There are too many predictions that I even don't know to which one to trust. I think maximum that we can expect from bitcoin this year is 800$. And barrier of 1000$ will be crossed only next year and only in the case if everything be good and we will not hear of any big hacking again.

I think that our train is accelerating slowly and temporarily and we won't see big changes in price in the nearest future. So, I think it won't reach 1000$ this year. Maybe in the middle of 2017. And it is for good, actually, because if the train goes really fast, it eventually hits something and may even explode. We shouldn't forget that.

whats special about January 1 2018 to see a price range of about $1000 ,as i have seen in the past charts is that it only takes a couple of good trading hours to jump the price to a new level and that uncertainty would help to hold the price of bitcoin in the future ,assuming that there wont be any negative things that would drag the price of bitcoin

with bitcoin you can never be certain about these things, it is all a vague speculation of the future that may or may not even come true. but based on the past and the way price has been rising i think the closest bet would be mid 2017 for $1000 price.

I agree that at this point Bitcoin Price is not ready for $1000 but the road will pave its way.  With Segwit, if successful will make bitcoin transactions easier and even implementing smart contracts in it.  This may hasten people adoption and with a couple more updates may make bitcoin price to more than $1000 even before mid 2017 .

Price not going down doesn't exist. Before we even reach the $1000 level, I wouldn't be surprised to see another bit of FUD popping up taking the price down significantly. Or perhaps we'll see another exchange supposedly getting hacked. You can wait for it to happen.


You should not worry about the price remaining stable. The main thing that people (except traders) here worry about, is that the price starts tanking and stays in a downward spiral for a certain amount of time. Especially when you consider that we have been going up non stop for nearly 2 years in a row. Look at the charts. This can't continue endlessly.

If nothing unexpected happens, Q2 2017 could be an time horizon for us to see the $1000 back again.
But right now there are still 7 weeks to go in this year.Would be nice to touch the 800 range.Even if it is just for a very short moment.That would be an extremely bullish sign to continue the rally we had this whole year, except the finex drop.

For me $1000  barrier will never gonna happen this year because the price of bitcoin will not rise so easily. Which of the current price is a pump?  I don't think it is.  Bitcoin had gone up and down and been corrected .  I think the new floor now is  700 USD  since it stay within this range.  As for the 1000 USD, I think it will happen in mid 2017.  Unless something bad happen to several exhanges of bitcoin else, bitcoin is doing good.

Nope. Whether Bitfinex is hacked or continued normally, the price was due for a serious correction after all the hype around the block halving. Look at the current price, we are in a very good position right now. My main goal at this point is to maintain solid support levels where the price remains above $700 for the rest of this year. $1000 is not on my target list this year. Maybe next year if nothing seriously bad is happening.

Actually your right its very difficult to reach for that level since i think people will still sell if they think thEy earned enough, and 700$+ is quitely high enough for us to earn some huge profits from our different ventures nor profits of staking, i don't have any goal at this moment but to see my wallet keep bumped by profits well thats totally ok to me, let see if  1000$ will be achieve next year onwards the great rally is happening and hope it will not compromised by some certain bad events.

Only few days left and i don't think 1000 usd can be reachable within this short period of time due to lots of fuds going on regarding chinese government recently and also US elections have make it even harder to predict the price move.

My prediction is March 2017. France is having it's elections and may leave the euro.

Bitcoin has been tied up with the crisis in the eurozone - Greece, Cyprus, and now France and Italy. And that is because a CURRENCY is at stake, the euro. In the US the dollar isn't under threat at all, so it is a bystander in the bitcoin story.

March 2017 looks good. It will be sooner than expected. We are now stablishing 700 as new floor. It's only 300 dollars away. Bitcoin can go up 300 dollars in a matter of hours, so it can be anytime now, but it will take a couple more months, for the segwit situation to solve itself. We will see how the blg blockers give up and admit defeat, and we will have segwit activated and this will translate in high price.

Yup that price is possible to achieve at any point of time now, but may be it will reach there somewhere in the mid of the next year as it won't be that easy to achieve that milestone by the end of the year and may be we will see the price of $800 by the end of this year but not anything above that.

To be honest no one can predict exactly what will happen with bitcoins in coming period and what price it will be holding as its very hard to predict anything related to the price of bitcoins but the good news is that bitcoin is moving in a positive direction at a moment and only we can do is to hope for the best.

Yes, I am agree. The price will not reach this point of 1000$ this year for sure. I would not make any prognoses for next year, cause the price of bitcoin does not depend from me. This last couple weeks bitcoin rised for 100$ and it's good for all users. As others I expect bitcoin will rise high and my savings in bitcoin will bring me nice profit.

There are some signs the bitcoin might be able to cross 1000 USD sooner, the upcoming of implementation of SegWit somehow is giving an effect to bitcoin price especially the testnet performance is going well.  If in case SegWit implementation is succesful  there is a great chance that it will cause a good news to bitcoin resulting in increase in price.

Its hard to say when this will happen but I think there is a chance it will do this soon, most likely at the beginning of 2017.
Lets hope on it, we just need some patience for it.

its really hard to make a prediction about that price because no one will know when this could be happen and we can only want that price will happen soon so we can be very happy to make a withdraw and buy some stuff in out there. but i think, if i see the condition for now, that price will be in next year after january or february. its only my silly prediction and i expecting to be happen soon.

Personally I think we are going to reach 1k close to November 2017 but I don't think this is going to be a linear path, we are going to see a raise at the end of this year and then bitcoin would get lower to finally reach that amount.

Lets hope on a few weeks although I do not think that is gonna happen if I have to be honest, but we will see what is gonna happen.

I also hope that bitcoin will cross 1000 USD barrier sooner, but as we see it is not easy as that.  There are several factor to be considered and let alone the mass adoption must be hasten. 
We observe even if bitcoin price is in an uptrend move, once a bad press or fake rumor is released, the bitcoin price will surely makes a dip and will take another time to recover and furhter increase.  So as long as there is no bad press, and the development or upgrade of bitcoin gives a positive effect then we can see 1000 USD sooner maybe at the end of the first quarter of 2017.

That would be a fair statement. But then sometimes the people trading in the market becomes irrational and mania occurs. That is when we begin to see Bitcoin's quick and fast surge to > $1000, and see a quick move going in the reverse direction. The media is partly responsible for this because they tend to put more wood in the fire by writing overly optimistic articles.

Crossing $1000 barrier and continuing to sustain over that is seems to be a milestone in the growing path of bitcoin. But as mentioned by most members, it is likely to happen by the year 2017 based upon the price pump starting from the end of 2016.

I'm good at predicting stuff, I'm guessing it'll happen on January 22th, 2017. After that date, the BTC price will probably crash back down to $900 quickly.

I think we are going to cross that barrier before the spring of 2017 but to maintain that level is another story and that will probably happen at the end of 2017.

Maintaining its level should be possible if its price increases at slow pace... that's what I observes by looking at past history.... if it gains too quick, it will drops quickly, I might be wrong.

If 2017 turns out to be a good year, we can expect the price to reach four digits come April or May. I remember this just months ago, this was also the time that the price suddenly surged from $400 to almost $800 in a short period of time. The price eventually dipped back to as low as $500 and settled at $600 for a while before this recent rally that has since stabilized the price above $700.

By the end of the next year is a realistic date for a new ATH.

I am agree. The maximum that I can predict by the end of this year is 800$. 1000$ is possible only the next year and only in the case if not going to be any hacking attacks on echangers. As we know that beat the price for bitcoin very much. And in the case of new attack bitcoin may fall down again.

I'm hoping to see bitcoin cross $1000 mark on global exchager site within end of this year. bitcoin is being traded at $930 on some Indian exchanger site.

Its hard to tell when but I think that we will see this at the next year indeed than there are some good chances that this will occur and the price will break the barrier.

Then you will see a double top looming, and I guess you know what it means.
$1k is nowhere close at the moment, and definitely not within the next two weeks.

the $1000 price has indeed turned into a big barrier in front of bitcoin and i think it is going to be the toughest barrier of all times to break. and that is only because so many people are expecting that price, we can clearly see this from the comments in this topic alone, and this little expectation will create a lot of selling when the price reaches around $1000

Even bitcoin is traded on india for the insane price of $930+ because the demand is high and exchangers do lack of supply of it but it doesnt mean that bitcoins price will idealy be like that on this year. I really dont think it will reach that amount on year end maybe on $800 is possible but on $1k maybe next year would be a realistic guess.

Some people think very easily about the price to reach the $1000 level, while in fact they have no clue how much buy support it takes to maintain that price for even a day or two. That's why I also believe that even if we do reach that price level, that we will go down significantly where the price might even fall below $900 again. We'll need several attempts to sustain that price. And each of these attempts may take 6-12 months time. Right now we first have to make sure we maintain our position above the $700 levels, and that already is a more than difficult task. It doesn't take much to get the price to dive below $700 again. Imagine how that will be when we are sitting around the $1000 level. ;)

This brings up a very valid point about support and the importance of having it in spades. I won't repeat what was said above but I'll say that its spot on. Bitcoin going above $1,000 is no easy task and for it to hold above that level its going to take at least another year or two in my opinion. I think we have quite a long way to go still and nothing is guaranteed. I could see us in a $650-$850 range for the next few years sadly. While I hope and pray for $1,000+ I honestly don't count on it anytime soon. I think around $880 will be the top till 2018.

Let me guess i think it's going to corss the $1000 Barrier next year june 2017 and please do quote this for me so that you people are going to remember me if this happen and also reward mo for my prediction haha i know this gonna happen for real and i believe in this believe in bitcoin and nothing is really imposible.

800 usd is still too far away to think we will reach 1000 any time soon.

My guess is that it will take atleast until January or February to reach a price of 1000. After that, it will likely take off and we will see very interesting price developments after that.

Bitcoin price of $1000 has been achieved in India. It just went to $1000 today itself.

Its hard to tell when it will happen but I think it will be around February if I stays rising and grow like it is right now.

It is the same story with other local markets. India is well known example but price of BTC is not the highest there.

$1000 is not a big barrier, as we simply didn't return there since the end of 2013. It is an out of reach price at the moment. And I guess it will stay like that until we have a real game-changer event.
There was no such a event in the last three years, so it can't be a simple news. I am talking about a development that has the potential to improve the adoption. And by development I mean a real piece of code, not a press release.

when there is a panic buy from people and the price is suddenly increase with fast, then the 1000 USD barrier will be broken and going to up. but its really hard to push until that price, and its need a time to reach the price.

I think it is not so much difficult, as we can see that the increasing trend of bitcoin is in progress and hope that it will continue tell the price reach to 1000 USD if something wrong not happened to the market. I think so, we won't see the price cross the barrier in 1 month. Looking at recently price fluctuate and news about bitcoin development, consider many factors that could affect bitcoin price and rule out negative factors such as hacked or gov regulations which could adverse, bitcoin may reach $1000 in the next year maybe in June or July, we may achieve that price if bitcoin constantly rise.

I don't think that bitcoin price will be at $1,000 next week, we are far away from this target and I doubt it will happen even this year.

Maybe next year we will reach $1k but it is too early. I hope the bitcoin price will be four digits next summer or autumn.

There are a lot of big IFs in my opinion. On one side we need much more than this year in terms of development and especially adoption. On the other hand, it is theoretically possible to reach $1k based on the thin air pumps exclusively, but to put it in the right perspective: having such a positive setup as this year halving we only managed to reach $800. To pump it to $1k you wouldn't much more. And I really mean massively more. Is that possible? I doubt it.

I don't see us getting to $1000 until late next year. If we get their sooner, it could be just a short term bubble that will burst. I do think we will eventually get there though.

Lets work it out mate we can go there if all of us work together and continue introducing bitcoin to all of our friends and relatives the more people involved the more chances that it will bring new investment and it will take effect with its value.

i dont think it would go up to 1k within this year thou. By looking at current situation that is. However, I do think its a great time to buy more and wait till next year.

I think that the end of December or starting week of January, 2k17 should come up with some surprises and we might see boom in the price of bitcoins.

Right now, it seems like the exchange rates have stabilized at $740 to $750 per coin. The next spike will definitely take Bitcoin over the $1,000 per coin mark. What makes you think so sure about it? What if we correct 20-25% from where we are now (double top formation on the charts for this year), which wouldn't be that unlikely. The price has been stable at $700-730 in this month and once fall to $680 due to some banned news, I don't think we could reach $1k in this December or any time in this year as now we strugle to even reach $800. If the price constantly increase, we might cross the $1000 barrier in 2017 but there is no guarantee of course.

I agree, my speculation it is probably around march where we can see our new ATH.  Bitcoin is strong lots of strong holder around and well there are events in some country especially India that push their citizen to buy bitcoin to preserve their wealth. There might be some resistance but I'm sure it will be eaten by the demands of this people who seek to preserve their wealth and not to be confiscated by their government (India to gold holdings)

No it will not be reached in this year, I think it will be around 2017 February that it will happen, having some good hope on that right now.

I'm hoping we get to $1000 around April 2017. I'd rather the price rise steadily over a longer period than see unsustainable pumps because we always get equally volatile dumps then which is no good.

Some analysts says that 2017 will be a very good year for bitcoin, some predicts that it price could double or triple from the current price. Factors that can make the bitcoin to go up more will be the present state of global economy, moves of some governments that will cause inflation and the brexit. That is the reality, bitcoin  is just like a wheel sometimes it goes up sometimes down. Nevertheless, it is a great thing for those who are waiting for the $1000. I also think that there is a rather large symbolic barrier infront of the 1000$ per Bitcoin, and im not sure how to get past that one.

Reach $1000 is a dream of bitcoiners, but could become a sharp sword if there are too many users planning to sell off their coins.
Personally, I don't like the idea like that, holding for a while and sell, why not waiting for more and spend bitcoin such as we spend fiat money, if there is no merchants that accepted bitcoin yet in your neighborhood, be patient and just convert several of your coins if there is something to cover the cost.

I guess I miss that time but in yobit's price, it is displaying it for a longer time even though the has been moved. And upon checking it now the price in yobit is $996 while on preev it says $959 and while on coinbase its value is now $973. Even though they have different pricing on bitcoin because of their obligations but I don't know if this 2 days left will make the price of bitcoin be longer enough to stay at $1,000.

bitcoin prices are now very high. bitcoin price movements are very stable and also have a good trend. bitcoin few more days to reach 1000USD.

I don't think that the price touches or cross $1000 in a few days time. Price is quite increasing in a stable manner with fluctuations taking place within days time. So this might take place in a short else would go till the middle of the upcoming year.

It will not be stable at $1000 because we know that this coming first month of the january it will drop! if it will not then in the next month. WE are sure that it will drop. The price would be playing at $900 and up and i think it takes few months again to up again with $1000

This morning the price dropped to $1195 but thankfully cause currently the price $1225, it looks like the price of $2000 can be achieved more quickly before the end of this year, probably 4 months again prices can get past $2000.
