I am curious of your opinion about if you have to start a bitcoin business from scratch today. What is the type of business will your start, even if any of this type of business don't exists at the moment?

I know the typical business type on the market are :

• Exchange
  
• Blog
  
• Lending
  
• Trading
  
• Selling stuff in bitcoin
  
• Freelance job in bitcoin
  

If you have limited amount of bitcoin than idea of bitcoin exchange platform can give you good profit if you can provide altcoin exchange platform like shapeshift.

And if you have relatively high seed money you can think about starting altcoin trading platform with margin lending/trading feature which is quite popular this days and also there are not many alternatives which are as good as poloniex and bittrex.

Teaching how to trade bitcoin and altcoins. How to read candle sticks and how to make fundamental and technical analysis.

Payment processors are a good bet. I would work to educate people about bitcoin, while helping them convert bitcoin into fiat.
As merchants become familiar with Bitcoin, they would start accepting and using bitcoins.

If you could start a huge level exchange that would be nice. Or open a bank in your local area and get permission to trade in Bitcoin that will be a revolution for you and everyone. Try and look the law and see if a bank idea is possible for you. Else there to much competition. Or the usual Ptc site, and give Bitcoin. 

i will choose Exchange because i think it is the most profitable thing out there and it can be successful if you offer some local fiat transfer in a country that doesn't have any service like this but has many bitcoin users.

Blog: is not a business but more of a tiny side thing that you do.
Lending: is too small and risky
Trading: is also what i do and prefer with smaller amount
Selling stuff: it is a bit hard specially with physical goods
Freelance: is good as long as the pay is good but it usually is not.

Maybe to invest in some local start up idea? There are lot of inovative young people with good business ideas but with lack of money. So you can search some of these and invest in them, it's win-win situation for everyone.
Or if there is no Bitcoin ATM in your area you can place one.

I think if you can have enough fund as well as if you can gather good dev team, blockchain based probably fair bitcoin game can be profitable if you can have really nice game idea. Also have a look at bustabit.com they are quite popular and the game they have is really interesting and unique (but not blockchain based).

I think just about any business I would think of starting I would accept BTC..

I Think an online platform for shopping that you can buy with bitcoin is a very good idea , online shopping websites like amazon eBay and others only accept master cards and real money transfer and it will be a very successful busnies if you make an online shopping websites that accept bitcoin

The best way to avoid the saturated market is to find a niche and think outside of the box. Come up with something unique and the money will start rolling in.

just wanted to say this, but franky beat me to it. anyway i still can add some knowledge. not only the type of business matters and a lot of the success depends on the how you run a business. it is hard work and long hours. you need the right people around you and make a good job, do not half ass it.

I really like the idea of opening a freelance bitcoin job, if i had huge amount of money i will open a huge scale of online shop like amazon or ebay, i am sure if it is advertise correctly it can become larger than ebay and with bitcoin as payment the customer no need to be afraid of credit card information theft

Now, the best way is buy coin in exchange.you can buy some good altcoins and wait it up to some high price  then you sell it and made profit!

i think you can start for a small site first like offer a services for making debit card, paypal vcc, selling the product or anything else. you can start to sell in around your city and online, and from time to time, if you have experience to handles the order, then you are ready to open a huge scale of online shop. you can see on aliexpress or alibaba, they start from small in little scope range and now, they become a giants in the internet.

Lending is an extremely risky activity, especially with Bitcoin. It is hard to charge good interest rates if the borrower has a collateral and it is risky if the borrower has none.

Starting an online retail store is decent, you have to be creative and find out what the community here needs. A huge demand is ideal, for example a plastic VISA debit card.

Exchange requires a lot of web designing and regulations. It is hard to attract customers unless you are extremely trustable and offers good rates. You also have to deal with AML/KYC procedures.

There a lot of businesses you can do in the real world it's just a mode of payment. So it's okay to say it's a bitcoin business idea if it revolves on bitcoins like exchanges, lending of bitcoins, trading fiat to bitcoin or alts other than that, it's different. You could try graphic designing, spa business, restaurant, consultancy, etc. You can try anything that you think can work.

But it is better to voice out your idea also to crowdsource a possible business with the help of community. A community based bitcoin project is good since from inception and implementation the community had share their part.

If you have a good enough capital then among these options opening a brand new exchange with some new ways or improvements would be a great business to start, other than that if your capital is not that big then trading can be good too.

I think I will go for blogging cause among all things listed above it is the most less risky but requires a lot  of time and effort .  For starters, I won't build my blog immediately but practice my skill instead by selling my articles to some sites like hubpages and if I think that my skill are sufficient enough, then it will be the right time to build my own blog .

Lending is a good way also but I will not lend a money unless there is a valid collateral . Lending is very risky cause borrowers can always run off with the money  .

Exchange is the best with high profit potential among your list, but it also have the highest risk, there is need to consider a lot of things and most important thing is security of your exchange. Remember Mgox the issue is still on and recently Bitfinex also you need to have a solid go to market strategy to get your own market share

Well, for people who already had huge capital it's not really hard  to start their own online platform to provide those shop services, just need right friends to help you develop it. I agree it will become larger than similar platform but using cash and credit card for the payment due to bitcoin advantages, but I think it better to include cash payment too if you want.
But for who that doesn't have big amount of money yet, I will choose to offer your skills/capabilities as service and saving what you get to start your business or investment.

Great ideas to startup with bitcoin. Bitcoin is good for business, and I think trading is good business although have many a risk. besides that, a blog also has profitable if you must diligent in posting your idea or any other. I think that business for my opinion.

I also think of this before, now i know that it called freelance job. Before i am thinking to advertise or post some stuff in ebay and sell it, my mode of payment should be in bitcouns but ive got a second thought and leave the idea because i was thinking that only few people are using bitcoins. But that was 3 years ago. Exchange and blog is also a good idea in bitcoins business. Its more passive income snd safe than the other suggested options.

The best business idea that comes to my mind when I think of bitcoin is an online shopping platform like amazon or eBay, that is a bitcoin based platform where everyone can buy what they need and pay with bitcoin wallets instead of credit cards, the thing is the bitcoin community is missing paces to spend their hard earned money on , and a business like this will be very successful.

What about a website like backpage.com? I believe there is great potential with that kind of service because there are a lot of shady business deals and offerings that need a medium that allows and encourages activities like hiring an escort. Bitcoin + a site like it would make hookers independent from pimps and will have wider coverage to advertise themselves.

I think exchange, lending and trading are best choice because of they are commons business on real life,
But if you want make successful of business, make sure you choose one of there choice and focus in it.
You can not sit on two chairs moreover three chairs or you will be down.

These kind of sites are already too saturated. I think doesn't worth to start a site like those you listed. Exchange there are some good sites, they are doing a good job and their service is enough for the currently Bitcoin enthusiasts; There are a lot of blogs, and most Bitcoin enthusiasts don't have interest on it, as they can read about everything here on forum; Poloniex has a nice service for who wants to lend money; Doesn't worth to start a BTC shop if you don't have reputation, nobody will trust your service; There are a lot of freelance jobs sites also, no reason to create more one.

If i had a chance to build my own business i would like to create MMORPG games where people can earn bitcoin while playing it, however it needs more budget especially for promotion and development. Never crossed my mind to open new exchanger it's really difficult i mean security is most important also there so many competitor out there unless you're offering something unique so people will interested and join your site. Blog, Selling stuff in bitcoin, or freelance in bitcoin are good though, i just don't recommend  lending, as we can see many lending sites out there are not going well.

yes agree with you. i think you also need to have some good knowledge about starting a business, i think starting business in bitcoin is a superb idea as the world is no getting more and more modernize, so we need to start business in new introduce currency of the world.

That is very true and I have the same opinion. Instead of looking at the more obvious choices of online businesses with Bitcoin as the main currency, it is time for us to look at the dark web. It might be time for us to think of a better way for Bitcoin rather than looking for a way in using it as a replacement for fiat. It is time for us to help create and support a new economy that fiat money cannot penetrate. The dark markets are a growing industry and in the future it will be the main playground where Bitcoin will thrive.

I'm not knowledgeable with the first four so I'd probably just go with the last two. Selling stuff for bitcoin, it's possible to start with very little capital if you begin selling locally first. It's probably possible even without a website, you can just simply say you are accepting bitcoins for payment.

I'm planning on doing the last one. I'm saving up to take some short courses for graphic design and CAD. Then I can just hunt around online for work. If I can't find a platform, then I can just make a thread in the Services sub-forum.

Exchange and trading bitcoin have a same characteristics , with both of them we looking for big profit from thr fluctuations of bitcoin's price. It is good idea but if you done a wrong steps you will lose your money because both need good strategy and planning.

I would be careful with the obvious options such as an exchange or gambling platform. The market is quite saturated already, and it can become very costly to attract a large enough customer base to make a profit.

In addition, security is a major issue with this type of business. Just buying a template is likely going to cause you some troubles.

I think a great addition would be some kind of incorporation of contracts or land ownership on the blockchain. This way it would be indisputable what is in the contracts. The company can offer an encrypted message on the blockchain that they can decrypt so not all details are publicly visible.

I prefer freelance job because i dont want to use my funds. You dont need capital to do freelance job. You only have to do is the tqsk they want you to do. Trading is good too but im not expert at that thing and i dont have enough capital. Lending is too risky for me. You'll lose huge amount of money if your clients screw up. Exactly, freelancing is best option when there is no other option available. One can earn good amount of money if he has right set of skills and the sense of using time more effectively. Trading: This I'm currently trying to learn. Still looks confusing to me but probably one of the better ways to earn with little capital.

Lending: Not in btc, that's too risky. I'd have no legal recourse if a debtor defaults. I'd rather just earn btc, convert it to fiat and then lend that.

Selling goods: Probably will start selling local first. I suppose selling online to an international market would be a bit more complicated.

Me and uncle has a firm. It is a engineering services, I suggest to him about bitcoin and ask him to be open about it. Its a starting company and when the time comes that we have information technology software and computer engineers employes we are already open in cryptocurrency. What I mean is that we can involve cryptocurrency in business. If we believe in its potential we are going to accept it as a payment in the transactions that we made. In my opinion we dont need to start a bitcoin business, just to include it in our business is enough.

For everything you mentioned here is looking good, but to set up those you need to back up some bitcoin before going to the public. It all depends upon the interest.  If you have enough bitcoins, then you can think of starting a ad network. The profit margin will be good. For first few months you may not get advertisers. But you should have enough funds to pay your publisher ,for the first few months. Otherwise it will affect the reputation of the network. I think gambling and bitcoin betting can also be a business. It is full of development and business elements as a true business. So many people got rich from it, most people thought it was something bad, but I personally think another, its bad not come from the form, it comes from the way you use use it. Onless you are the owner of a gambling site, then gambling should be kept as far away as possible from a list of Bitcoin business ideas, because it is certainly not a business one can lean on. At best it is a form of entertainment and should always be treated as such to remain on the safer side.

But based on my experience, I think luck is also involved here like in my case for example, we are five in a team of freelancers, but the manager decided to give me the most profitable task of all and the other thing is they thought that the job was hard, but when I handled it, it was easy for me as compared to when I was part of the team. Trading altcoin is always the best time because when the price of bitcoin is low then it means that the altcoin market is active so you can earn profits by doing a lot of trades especially day trading because for sure that the market is very volatile because the altcoins are very cheap and also the bitcoin. Starting a business from scratch is easy if you have a certain set of skills. For instance you can be a good writer or painter and you can start selling your works for Bitcoin.
I always found it difficult to start a business, because I have no unique skills. I'd have to become a trader or write small articles for news sites, which IMO isn't paid good and kind of boring.

From all of that choices. I still prefer trading because that is where i'm comfortable doing. I've explained to my uncle that Bitcoin is not that popular these days so we have to be the pioneer of it. We want it or not these crypto currencies has great potential in the future. Lending is the best choice. With a good bankroll and a trusted platform you can earn much money from passive income. You don't need to work, to do tasks, to do anything. You just wait and see the results, your money growing.

I think for me the best way is  to invest it in some businesses because it is very hard to start a businesses. Use it in trading, lending, buy and sell and even selling only. Bitcoin now has a hugh value so you need to know how to retain it. for me if i have enough money i will invest in bitcoin and i use this as my business since bitcoin can used in paying some bills, loading our mobile phone, transferred cash to other people (remittance center). It could be great business without processing business permit.

You may want to know that mining Bitcoin as is today doesn't promise quick ROI. As the difficulty keeps increasing, you will be having to lay off quite expensive equipment all too often to be able to remain abreast in the business. That coupled with cost of electricity, cooling system renders the venture a not for all comers. A way out is to instead channel your resources in mining some altcoins that demands far lesser resources and subsequently exchanging them for Bitcoin.

Well, i dont have more bitcoins to run an exchange.Trading would be my best option.I have an idea of selling stuff for bitcoins,especially electronic goods as you there is always a curiosity in the market for electronic goods.

i'm also doing the same, mining is very profitable now that all the altcoin raised, buying bitcoin is also a good option now thta it's very cheap, one is faster but the other offer less risk, because maybe bitcoin go down even more no one know with the hard fork that might come

Ya it is true that anything can happen after hard fork to bitcoin, so investing in altcoin and even mining in altcoin is very good and profitable option right now.

Bitcoin is good business On transaction wise, bitcoin will sure hit a great future on local business because it may fasten the transaction especially on payment through some businesses. this may be a great choice but this is so risky.. what if they will just apply for lending and they will no longer pay you after they took your bitcoins. i think this may tend to succeed if and only if you let them have collateral before giving them the desired amount they want. with this, chance of risk is minimal.

Lending is good business but for me this is not ideal for the online which is you do not have any information to those people you deal with.
I think much better to make your bitcoin wallet as remittance center, selling load to other or buy and sell if the bitcoin is popular in your area.

There are also some risks associated with lending as the borrowers might default on their payments, and sometimes collecting interest payment takes time. Might as well just hold you coins or just put it into something that has a lesser chance of being scammed.

Bitcoin/fiat exchange is not easy to handle and also it will requires huge amount of capital but this business is possible to do in bitcoin.

The key to success is either creating a business with an original idea or creating a business that does something better than everybody else. Also, it's extremely important to build a reputation and be credible. Yes if we're going to make a lending services, it'll help those who want to build a business, but, how if the business is failed? do you have any tolerance regarding this matter and won't charge the ones who borrow your money anymore? Yes, bitcoin can use in that way of business, no permits required to open that kind of business. No hassle for you and to your costumers. I hope if I that is so I will make the same way too since that is the privileges in my wallet that I use too.

Lending with bitcoin is good idea but on another side, if we company will offer such service to customers, than company can't do anything against person which has loan from them, if that person won't pay. Why? Because bitcoin's nature is most likely anonymous, you can't determine real sender and receiver, their information. That's why this idea is bad, if we won't have such problem, than bitcoin is great but without "that problem" bitcoin is nothing for many people.

I think we all are already doing business. Like who knows about bitcoin, they are doing investment and trading, and also doing some other work from the workers than they pay in bitcoin, People use the bitcoin in amount transfer. So for me, it is not difficult to tell you, that i am already doing trading and investment and also gambling. So it is my business with bitcoin.

Every business or investment has some risk of losing money but to me trading is the best investment because it gives quick results and may be started off with little amount.

Maybe i prefer to make exchanger site because it seems very good idea to earn many money.
But to make a exchanger site is not easy, at first should build trust from customers , make a brilliant management also secure system on it.

I have an idea of creating an exchange which will work without any registration. When Bob wants to sell BTC, he goes to the site, creates a one time account, which will be automatically deleted after the deal has finished, enters the amount of a fiat currency he wants to receive, and provided with a Bitcoin address and the amount of BTC he must to transfer, and asked to provide the credit card number he wants the money to be transferred to. After two confirmations he receives the money.

So the point is that a customer always goes first, hence no need for any verification. Of course, all of this is possible only if the site has a stellar reputation, but I think if do everything right that's possible to achieve.

Since it will be the most easy-to-use exchange, I think it will be popular.

I have a bitcoin business before and actually there are two. My first bitcoin business is referral business, I hired people to advertise my link all over the facebook groups and in that way I can get more referrals from the people playing in the dice game I owned. At first I was earning good since good dice players are coming in but as time passes by there are no more good players so I stopped my business. My second business I selling load, I am converting my bitcoins into load and sell it and by doing it I am not just earning online but also offline.

I think that idea of opening a bitcoin marketplace for a specific niche (eg. online accounts) will be cool.

I agree. There's a lot of business that you can do in bitcoin. I'll share my experience in having a business in bitcoin. I started a business using bitcoin. Since I am not into some hardcore business I try the business of loading and sometimes trading and selling it. That's how I started my business and until now I used to earn and have a better income. And at the same time I join some signature campaign in able to have a supply of bitcoins for reloading. :)

I wanted to create a E commerce Bitcoin related online store where all products are sold in bitcoins payment system with less margin.

The way i see it anything which is known worldwide so that many users with different fiat need it and is easier and/or more safe to pay with bitcoin. Such as, to sell subscriptions in host file servers and licenses for software. The reason is pretty simple; I use these services and I really hate to give my credit card personal details because I have no trust to them. Therefore, use paysafe or prepaid cards or something with less risk. Bitcoin is perfect, imo, for this kind of business 

The idea that needs almost no investment is to begin a small freelancing job in bitcoin, you obviously need some kind of skill or knowledge but I think it is the safer option if you can pull it off.

Bitcoin here could excel as a payment for publishers and advertisers, because it gives the ad network the chance to attend clients in many countries without the hassle to find payment providers.

An online store completely functioning with bitcoin alone as the payment option is not the right decision. You need to have few more payment gateway access. Only very few users were using bitcoin for shopping needs, others prefer the fiat. So more the payment access more will be the profiting chances even if the margin is small.

Maybe I will choose the exchange because many people now struggling to have their exchange bitcoin cash particularly Nigeria. I will take international exchange online for all and not to struggle with people changing their bitcoin.

True, doing something you're not good at only put too much strain on you ( physically and mentally ). We must learn along the way and keep the decision to ourselves of what we want and love to do. Even when pursuing something big but not our passion, you can be good at that but only average. This is the problem to people these days, trying to fit in to something that they don't want. Wrong league. Business is a trial and error process sometimes but we must consider what skills and knowledge on that particular field or else we're just going to lose. I'd rather go with a gambling site than making creating an E-commerce bitcoin related online store, because you might lose a large of profit here, considering that not all of your stuffs you sell there is going to be buyable and everybody would love it, though in a gambling site, it maybe requires a large amount of capital to make one, but at least, you are sure that you could earn a lot of money here if, your games here are pretty interested and are not boring to play with.

actually going in for Exchange platform is a 100% guaranteed fail. there are currently successful and big exchanges that people trust and use, if a new one comes along they won't just give up what they are used to, for a new, unknown, untrusted place.

From your list, it would really depend on the skill of the person who will perform this action. If he is a good coder then he can create an exchange site, however I don't recommend it as there is already a lot of them and it will be hard to capture those clients. If he is a good blogger then a blog is good. It just really depends on the skill of the person.

For me, I will choose blogging. I don't have a huge amount of money to capitalize on exchange, lending or trading. If you put all your effort on blogging, you could get as much more if it works.

Having exchange services would need big amount of capital but this is great business for now. But me i do selling regular load in my area as my business which is in demand in my place and now i introduce to my neighborhood that i can send/received money like remittance center with low fees using my online local wallet.

For building an exchange site it does really need huge amounts of money or capital to start on and thinking off on the competitors now on the market its not really easy to gain reputation on a short period of time which means you might not get sufficient profits when just starting up but having an exchange does really give good benefits in terms of money profiting.

I think 2,5,6 seems the right choice for the users in the beginner level. The reason is that big capital is required for exchange websites implementation, and in trading and lending the risk is high. Another profiable business is running a ethereum based cloud mining on contract based .So after the contract is over the equipment will be ours. Since its cloud mining , you dont need too much investment also. You can mine ethereum and exchange for bitcoin in any exchange.

It won't be a bad idea setting up an Exchange if I had enough money to do that. Besides that, Lending, blogging and doing Freelance for Bitcoin appeal to me. Presently, I do lending. It's less stressful than trading, even though it isn't much of a dividend when compared to trading.

If you have big capital you can start many business with bitcoin. You can start lending if you want but this is not easy because you need more knowledge how your lending become popular and your money safe to loaner so its better if the loaner have collateral before give tjeir loan. You can start also trading buying altcoin with cheap price and then sell if the price increasing to make a lot of profit. Thats I only suggest to you.

I don't think lending is a good idea for a new investor/trader since it's too risky. It's better to invest momey what you have so that you can afford to lose it.

I believe that everyone here wants to get an idea on how to start a small or big business using btc. Well for me, one of my ideas are through dealerships, advertising, online services, mentoring, buy and sell goods, and well of course, online gaming. There are lots of opportunities that you choose, but always pick something that you always like to do. I will give you an example, my friend and I started to enter crypto currency trading, well of course the income there is not stable, so we decided to make a local buy and sell of bitcoin. The only problem is the person that creates the store has to have a lot of faith in the currency working out because if it crashes he would be out a whole lot of money. I would take out Exchanging and Lending, because the market is saturated and you would need to spend gigantic amount of funds in promotions to get recognition as an exchange, Lending isn't working and P2P lending systems are mostly influenced heavily with default..
The most innovative one IMO is a freelancing business, didn't see allot of pure-crypto Freelancing platforms and launching one would be innovative, the success can't be predicted though.

As far as my experience Wxchange,Blog and Freelance job in bitcoin will give quite decent amount of earning. I do prefer find out your skill your good at and sell the skill by providing services like freelancing jobs for bitcoin . Earn bitcoin it is the best way.

I see the best and less picked option is an interface to sell stuff, Bitify has a big market for example but there are allot of sellers and buyers that would welcome a new platform.

One specific possible business in mind that I've been thinking is by having to teach the whole idea of Bitcoin to a newbie in exchange of cash, Bitcoin if possible. I'd probably open an online shop that would allow the Bitcoin users to purchase a variety of items such as clothes, shoes, accessories and other assorted products.
