Title: How to convince my dad that Bitcoin is a trustful currency ?
Post by: ged00u on November 25, 2016, 04:57:53 PM
Here is the story: My dad just found out that I am storing bitcoin and he try to prevent me from using this crypto. This is absolutely the worst situation I have ever had since I started used Bitcoin. I am living in the country which bad guys abuse Bitcoin for illegal activities. Therefore, most of the people here who do not have a proper knowledge about bitcoin believe bitcoin as a stupid, dummy coin or even MLM. My dad is one of them. Any solution to solve this problem ? It is quite hard though because I am still a teenager so it is extremely difficult to persuade him
Thanks in advance

The best idea for now is to not tell your dad you are storing your extra cash in bitcoin, store some bitcoin secretly and when bitcoin price will be more than double than what it is right now show how you have been able to double your fiat within very short period.

I have also gone through similar problem few months back when price was near $400 and now it is $700+ which have been enough for me to convince my father also to invest in bitcoin and he is asking me to buy some bitcoin for him also.  ;D

Well i think better to convince your dad to join in this forum and learn something in bitcoin so that he can expand his knowledge about bitcoin that we are using bitcoin not in illegal activities and tell him that there is some countries that has stores that accepting bitcoin as payment like in paris and brazil.. Maybe he will accept bitcoin as legit and trusted..

Actually, he has known the amount of Bitcoin in my wallet. That is because I carelessly uploaded a picture about paying coffee and food by bitcoin on social media. And after that, I also checked my wallet while sitting next to him. He witnesses everything....

A very awkward situation for you,in a way he probably wants you well since you say that some bad guys abuse BTC in your country,so he probably does not want you to become one of them.

One way is to try to talk to him and try to convince him you're not doing anything wrong with BTC.Second way is to you continue to use BTC without him knowing about it if possible. If you have some good friend to use his PC for crypto stuff this would perhaps help, although from the perspective of privacy is not the best solution.

If none of that works, then you can do nothing but to stop to deal with BTC until you grow up and move up.

He is from a different generation.  You will have a hard time to convince him but if you want to persuade anyone ever its best they discover enlightenment by themselves.  My dad doesn't like me teaching him stuff it doesn't matter what it is.  You are the child, they are the dad.

If you're a teenager then you're going to have a fun time trying to explain this one.

Talk to him about how there is a ton of stuff beyond just illegal activities that Bitcoin can be used on, show him some of what you're earned or whatever else and show him what you're striving to get to. Show him the technology and get him to see what it is so he treats it less as an alien concept and gets acquainted with what it is you're doing.

You should have shared with him at a earlier stage, so he might be more mad about you with holding something from him, than you

owning Bitcoin. I would buy him something and apologize for your mistake... Parents wants to know everything their children does with

their lives... when they are excluded... they turn against the thing you hide from them. That includes friends/boy friends or girl friends.

So say sorry, and make up for your mistake.  ;)

Old guys who don't know about tech will never gonna believe in bitcoin or any unregulated cash/money/asset. They like to feel secure while storing their hard earned cash in banks and keep taking loans paying much higher than what banks gives to their customers from whose money they keep running with high profit.

You have done mistake by uploading those images to social media, can't you just show him how you can get profit out of trading and also show him some bitcoin related news which shows how other countries are slowly adopting bitcoin payments as well as they are thinking about using blockchain tech behind bitcoin?

Spoken from experience, I do not think there are much chances that a father will take advices regarding money from his teenage son.
You will probably have to wait a while, a decade or so, until he might be willing to consider your opinion as solid and found.
Of course you can try to persuade him with charts, facts and numbers, but I would be really surprised if he would listen to that.

In every country the bad guys are abusing bitcoins, not just in yours. But at this moment he looks Bitcoin only through that bad things and he's probably afraid that you would do something stupid too. Maybe it would be good to try to explain him what is Bitcoin all about with some simple language and give him some articles and studies about Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. But in a way that he wouldn't feel like yor are making pressure on him or try to look smarter then him. Take one step at the time and be patient.

find positive news articles.

alot of fiat lovers would trust bitcoin if they seen the government positive about it. where senators, ministers mention bitcoin positively

http://www.afr.com/technology/senate-committee-says-bitcoin-should-be-treated-as-a-regular-currency-20150731-gior3u
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2015/apr/10/rand-paul-bitcoin-presidential-campaign-donations

you could also search out local retailers that accept bitcoin.

then you can show him how many times FIAT has failed people
credit card hacks
pick pocketing
ransoms

thus showing bitcoin is a currency like anything else. its just not understood because its still early and has yet to grow
then give him about $10 of bitcoin and tell him not to use it. but instead hold it and check the valuation every few months.

when the price goes up ask him is it more then the 0.01% interest rate he would have got if he just had $10 in a bank account

I do believe you will be forced to sell part of your coins directly to your father account, because words wont make he understand bitcoin at all, besides the fact that all money is used for good and bad things, its something your father know, fiat is used for ilegal stuff, media made bitcoin as dark currencie, good luck.

as franky stated you should point out the positives about bitcoin and this may change your dad's opinion
but I'm curious if you have a work or you still getting your money from your parents , cause if you are still getting your money from your dad then you shouldn't use bitcoin if he doesn't agree

at the end of the day  even if bitcoin is being used 100% for good activities there is always the price factor , and your father maybe thinks that you are kinda gambling the money that he gives you

Just convince them you no longer hold the Bitcoin. That's probably best thing to do if you yourself don't have the ability to persuade them.
Just leave Bitcoin to those who want to use it and are intelligent enough to.

Maybe try showing him the performances of bitcoin investments. Usually elder people will get attracted to investment opportunities. You may show him by October 2015 bitcoin was trading less than $250 and now trading around $740. Approximately 300% growth in 12 months.

Just talk to your dad about it. Show him what you've done, show him what you do to earn it, show him there isn't anything to be afraid of. It's all simple and not used entirely for illegal activities or goods, and you should be able to prove that to him relatively easily.

It's not a trustful currency, but ease his mind by showing him what you do and what you plan on doing.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitcoin you can use explanation from bitcoin wiki or https://bitcoin.org/en/ site created by satoshi nakamoto, to explain to your parents, actually they will not read carefully if gives link, you need explain itself, but usually they have a lot questions related to technical works, especially with mining.
Or for basic knowledge, you can use this simple info graphic: http://thumbnails.visually.netdna-cdn.com/how-to-explain-bitcoin-to-your-grandparents_530de481e997d.png

You don't have to convince him... Just find a safe way to store them secretly. If you really want him to understand, you could try explaining him how usefull can bitcoin be or bring him to the forum.

but i think it also depend on the mind and concept of the person to whom you going to accept bitcoin, there are some kind of people who are really difficult to convince them while some people can easily be convinced, so it depend that on your father that what kind of person he is, but you can try to convince him by giving him so solid proof otherwise he did not got convinced he can even stop you from using bitcoin.

Tell him that it is owned by no one and everyone can use it. No one can shut the bitcoin network down unless they shut down the internet. No one can say "Okay, I want to stop this project now." and just make all of your bitcoin worthless. Just a note though, China holds the majority of bitcoins so you might want to keep that in mind. You don't have to trust bitcoins, you just have to use it. Ever since, people have doubt using bitcoin so I think it's only normal that your dad doubt it too.

Buy him something with the btc you are storing.

Convert the bitcoins into cash and show him the money.

If he still doesn`t believe just ignore him.

he should be able to relate, to these poeple. the idea that every major bank around the world is talking about it, should help legitimize it in his eyes.

Thats a really hard situation though on which on how you gonna convince your dad since mature minds could really be hard especially when they know the certain stuff outside about bitcoins. If its already known in your place as being used on illegal activities then your daddy will surely prohibits you and you cant change that for sure. Better to keep this as a secret, keep saving and storing your bitcoin.

1. So, it's mainly because of the bad reputation of bitcoin in your country?
   - I agree with the news articles. Show him how bitcoin is being used around the world. It is being accepted by legit shops/restaurants/services/transportation.

2. show him around the forum It's a way of earning in the internet by posting/answering questions/etc. Nothing shady about this.
3. Valuation in dollars would show it is not scam/useless/no value since it can buy goods, pay for services and can be converted to dollar/any currency.

Weird since fiat cash money is still mostly used in any country for illegal activities, give him the argument to stop using that as well?
And btc is used in any country for illegal activities, not just yours.  Just show and tell your dad all the new start-ups there has been and the opportunities bitcoin brings. But then again, some people will never be convinced.

That’s our main problem and we should figure out some solution for that because such activities directly affect goodwill of bitcoin and I personally don’t want people to hear about bitcoin in the way that your dad heard.
There is only one solution and that is building awareness, you can show them youtube videos and expert’s opinions about bitcoin and force them to think on macro level instead of micro level. You can also convince them by teaching them how to use bitcoin for good things like doing his mobile recharge etc.

Maybe your daw knows too much bad information that is why he is on the negative side, yes criminals use Bitcoin but not all Bitcoin users are criminals in fact criminals are only in the small number of users. You can tell to your dad that he has nothing to worry about as Bitcoin is a currency which is more valuable than any Fiat currency in the world. Also you can tell that you are not using Bitcoin to do illegal activities.

to be honest in this day and age I have never seen anybody who thinks bitcoin is a Ponzi or MLM thing any more. this is a story for more than 5 years ago when bitcoin was still new and there were no usage for it.

Correct but as we all know that Most dads will surely stand on their decision regarding into a particular thing thats why its hard for us sometimes to convince them. If you clearly explain to him about the usefulness of bitcoin maybe you would able to convince him just like trying to transfer money from your dad to your mam. If it gots his interest and attention then those thought will surely change.

Well you need to have a clear air talk with your dad, probably take him to his favorite place, or get him his favorite meal. Then peacefully explain him your side of view, then ask him all questions and tell him to say all on one go. So what will happen is at the end he won't have any question to object to. Also understand he is concerned for you, so be calm and you will be able to reach a settlement soon.

I have tested this and I speak from experience when I say if you show them the real usage of bitcoin they will understand. I mean when you think about something like bitcoin the first thing you see is a "virtual" money which is only some numbers on your computer screen and as long as you don't use it or see it be used it is hard for some people to grasp what it really is.

but when they use it for specially if you could give them an example from their regular life, like buying a cup of coffee with bitcoin or like that famous Pizza story they have a much easier time understanding bitcoin.

Yes, that it is. He has known the amount in your wallet because you already used it to pay coffee and food, the best way is give him explanation properly about bitcoin, it's a currency and every currency ever used in illegal activities but bitcoin has many advantages than just storing in fiat money. Bitcoin has many positive news of course to help you give him explanation from third-person perspective.

If you have explained about bitcoins by your self and your dad still don't understand or believe it, you can try explaining about bitcoins with other ways is like videos for example. You can looking for the videos on YouTube that explaining about it, this way will be more education in my opinion. Good luck

It is kinda hard to convince older generation because they think that they know more than us. It will take alot of effort to convince them and it is better just make him believe that you follow what he told you about what he wanted you to do with bitcoin just to feed his ego.  Then after sometime show him positive articles about bitcoin and how it is used in a legal way.

This looks very insane. You as a teenager can store your bitcoins without letting your father to know about it. I believe you were earning and storing your bitcoin, not converting your fiat earning from day job to bitcoin.

because bad image from the previous users makes your father doesn't believe that bitcoin is good for you and basically he has love you and he do not want you in trouble because became an bitcoiners and i think good article would not makes him automatically believe that you would not be in trouble because using bitcoin to ensure your father accept bitcoin in his life first of all you must proof by yourself that you will never became a bad guy or abusing bitcoin or maybe for now you could buy present for him what he likes

I agree. Why and how he came to know your storing bitcoins. I have been storing bitcoins myself for the last few years but noone in my family knew about it unless I told them. And the country you live in can't be as much bitcoin illiterate as is mine.

some people are like this, i have encountered a couple of them in my life too. they resist any kind of change and anything that looks new in their lives and this is not limited to bitcoin.

don't worry too much because this is not just about bitcoin most of the times. but you can keep on trying.

for example how about setting up a bitcoin wallet for him and showing him how he can use bitcoin or at least have some as an investment to make profit in the future. show him some price charts and you can even give him some bitcoin what you can afford like 0.1-0.5BTC as an investment.

Well If he didn't really tried to hide his coins then his dad could have seen it on the mobile phone or on another screen...  :)

Any solution to solve this problem ?

Personally I would solve it by showing him a few news links and the bitcoin-wiki introduction page:  ;)

Code:
Alice need not provide currency to Bob in-person. She may instead transfer this value by first entrusting her currency to a bank who promises to store and protect Alice's currency notes. The bank gives Alice a written promise (called a "bank statement") that entitles her to withdraw the same number of currency bills that she deposited. Since the money is still Alice's, she is entitled to do with it whatever she pleases, and the bank (like most banks), for a small fee, will do Alice the service of passing on the currency bills to Bob on her behalf. This is done by Alice's bank by giving the dollar bills to Bob's bank and informing them that the money is for Bob, who will then see the amount the next time he checks his balance or receives his bank statement.

Since banks have many customers, and bank employees require money for doing the job of talking to people and signing documents, banks in recent times have been using machines such as ATMs and web servers that do the job of interacting with customers instead of paid bank employees. The task of these machines is to learn what each customer wants to do with their money and, to the extent that it is possible, act on what the customer wants (for example, ATMs can hand out cash). Customers can always know how much money they have in their accounts, and they are confident that the numbers they see in their bank statements and on their computer screens accurately reflect the number of dollars that they can get from the bank on demand. They can be so sure of this that they can accept those numbers in the same way they accept paper banknotes (this is similar to the way people started accepting paper dollars when they had been accepting gold or silver).

Such a system has several disadvantages:

It is costly. EFTs in Europe can cost 25 euros. Credit transactions can cost several percent of the transaction.
It is slow. Checking and low cost wire services take days to complete.
In most cases, it cannot be anonymous.
Accounts can be frozen, or their balance partially or wholly confiscated.
Banks and other payment processors like PayPal, Visa, and Mastercard may refuse to process payments for certain legal entities.

Bitcoin is a system of owning and voluntarily transferring amounts of so-called bitcoins, in a manner similar to an on-line banking, but pseudonymously and without reliance on a central authority to maintain account balances. If bitcoins are valuable, it is because they are useful and limited in supply.

I think your dad has a lots of misconceptions about bitcoin and therefore he is worried for you.More so because it is illegal in your country.
You must direct your dad to some good article about bitcoin where and tell him that bitcoin is not something exclusively used by criminals.Bitcoin is also used for many good causes also like explained here https://news.bitcoin.com/using-bitcoin-for-charitable-causes/

It will be difficult to convince older man to accepting bitcoin and seems like your dad more believe to the news rather than you, it is reasonable that your father forbid you to used bitcoin because he afraid you will used it for bad and illegal things, for your case i suggest to find a correct time and try to explained to your dad that bitcoin can be used for good deeds, you can tell him that everything can be used for bad and good things, it depends on how you used it, a knife can be used for cooking and can be used for killing it depends on the user, if your father still not accepted it, then you can secretly keep your bitcoin, as long as you don't used it for bad things i think it will be okay

Actually not only in your country and not only bitcoin, those bad guys are also using other methods like bank transfer, remittance, paper cash for illegal activities all around the world. So nobody should blame bitcoin for being used by bad guys for illegal activities.

Therefore, most of the people here who do not have a proper knowledge about bitcoin believe bitcoin as a stupid, dummy coin or even MLM.
If they don't have proper knowledge (including your dad) you need to educate them about what actually is bitcoin. I don't know how people near you is calling bitcoin as MLM, there is nothing like referral commission.

Any solution to solve this problem ? It is quite hard though because I am still a teenager so it is extremely difficult to persuade him
Actually your dad should understand that teenager like you know better about new tech rather than him and i think he is worried about you getting scammed by some MLM program, scam projects because he don't know what actually is bitcoin. You have to put some time to tell him about bitcoin reality and how this is not some shit coin, scam or MLM. Good luck

I know that in other places, many illegal organizations currently abuse Bitcoin to steal people money, to obtain Bitcoin in the most shameful way. However, in developing countries, the number of bitcoin-related criminal cases is very small, compared to the advantages which it brings to people here. My country can be recognized as a third world country where bitcoin is usually used by bad people.  And when you search "bitcoin" on the news, the majority of articles is about criminals derive money from Bitcoin.

After all, if they will see me really getting benefits from using bitcoin at regular basis then that thoughts of theirs will be changed in the future.

In your case I see it's not problem. Your father will listen to you no matter what rather than the bad news spreads around. Answer all of his doubts and questions. Like you said, bad guys there abuse bitcoin so why the hell bitcoin is the main concern here rather than those bad guys?

What is the purpose of family talks? It's the most effective when dealing with a concern between the members of the family. He should listen after you make such strong foundation and basis about your claims pointing to bitcoin.

From my experience I know that you can met people who are so deeply rooted in their convention that talking to them is waste of time.
I hope your dad is not that type of a person, because if that is the case you won't succeed in talking to him - he will be deaf to your arguments.

People who are against cryptocurrency are usually misinformed and have poor knowledge of the subject. They have no idea how crooked current economy based on FIAT it.
Media coverage which is mostly focused on negative aspects of everything - because that is what media do to gain views - is not helping BTC either.

Yeah you have the point and agree..
For me i already solve this problem before because my father seen that i am getting a good benefits in bitcoin and how i addicted to use bitcoin..
And also it helps me a lot i do not need to ask for money to them i just withdraw my few bitcoin and use in my study.
So now they are heard some news about bitcoin when they are searching like stores in brazil that accepting bitcoin.. bitcoin banks..
So it is depends in you how you show what is the benefits of bitcoin and it is trusted.. since i am living 1 year with bitcoin  they are accepting it because i never arrested by someone.. so to it is trusted.. because they are thinking before that it is scam or illegal that is why they are stopping me to use bitcoin..

You need to start right at the beggining and show him videos/books (depending on how old school he is haha) to learn what a bitcoin actually is. It's just a public ledger where you transfer around money and people confirm that it's been moved around by mining. Miners also 'create' bitcoins when they solve a block. That's how I would do it.

Well, you have to seek for some high quality news about bitcoin. You can start just from its legal status, Switzerland where you can buy them in the airport and Sweden planning to switch to their own cryptocurrency. Well, for a teenager it is always a problem to explain something to adults, because they don't respect each other mostly.

Talk to him about the mathematics behind bitcoin, try to fully understand how it works and then explain it to your dad, i think that will def help him to accept.  Criminals always use the leading tech of their time it gives them an advantage.

What is the purpose of family talks? It's the most effective when dealing with a concern between the members of the family. He should listen after you make such strong foundation and basis about your claims pointing to bitcoin.

But the problem here lies on the authority.  Parents are responsible for their kid.  And since bitcoin had bad name in their country, it is natural for parents to worry if they found one of their kids is using or involved with bitcoin activity.
If you try to reason out, it will only result to a heated argument especially OP is still a teenager, his father will more likely not listen to him.  All OP can do is to follow his father's demand.  It is just a matter of respect and understanding.  And this father is just protecting his kids.
Btw, if everything cools down, try to persuade your father that bitcoin is not bad as he thinks. and then show him all the proof of what you are saying.

So I would suggest to follow first (this will open a more senseful conversation) , then after sometime, explain to him what really bitcoin is.

Don't tire yourself up. Some people are just stone headed. No matter how many times you explain things, they won't get it. Even if they understand it, they will always have suspicions (i have tooi but that doesn't prevent me using it)

There is only one way for them to understand what bitcoin is and why it is trustful:

They should be in a situation where they have no choice but use bitcoins.

Once it happens, they will undestand :)

First things first is that I would let my father experience how to use bitcoins first and that afterwards, let him see the good and the bad side of bitcoin. Actually, it's really hard to change one's mind especially if they are really accustomed to using one thing for the course of their lifetime, and letting them use new tech is like alien to them, so you need to have patience and give your understanding if they could not cope with it at first. For me, I'm just gonna give him a few bitcoins to start with and let him spend it to whatever he pleases, explain to him what bitcoin is and let him decide from thereafter.

My family did the same to me. It is quite understandable that they have the inability to think forward in some cases, because they are taught to earn money from 9-5, save it in the bank and trust no investments.

If he doesn't believe this bitcoin thing, then so be it. It's his loss.

You cant convince someone even your dad to trust bitcoin if they are not interested to it. Maybe someday if bitcoin is really popular. Other people dont trust on anything that strange to them. Maybe give him some of it and let him experiece it. Maybe he'll change his mind. Also give him some idea how to use it.

It's true, some people are already with their minds closed to things they don't want to know about. Bitcoin is trustful and after some days looking and reading about, it's possible to reach to this conclusion, but many people still don't have interest on it, because their minds just follow what media says. If it's not on the television, it's not important for them.

Only time will reveal the facts about Bitcoin to many people around the world.

But you need to convince your dad that bitcoin is not always for the crime. Tell your dad how you manage your bitcoin, I'm sure if you succeed your dad would understand.

So I will only suggest you just assure hiim you won't go the direction of those guys and then find some guys who use it for good things and show him if that will work, if it doesn't, then be more secretive.

Long before there was bitcoin, people committed crimes. Many years ago people bought arms to kill other people. People always make wrong judgments about things they do not like.

Your father does not like you to make money online, he wants you to spend more time in real life and not to be in front of the computer. I'm not trying to say " I have a crystal ball ", but as a third world person I am, I'm telling you what most people in poor countries think.

In poor countries do people have a hard time accepting things like "Make Money with the Internet" if you tell someone from a poor country that you make money on the internet? This person discriminates  you, he will probably tell you that you are a crazy person and that you should get a job in real life.

Your father is using the argument that bitcoin this association of crime to get you away from the virtual world, he thinks you will not have a life in real life because you believe that you can make money on the internet.

If your father was a person who works with information technology, a software engineer for example. What do you think would happen if you told him you use bitcoin and show him how to use it? Your father would accept without problems! Why would he accept? Because you two are from the same world (Virtual World)

People understand each other when they share the same pain, the same experience of life.

My dad is one of them.

Because your father has no interest in the virtual world.

Any solution to solve this problem ?

You should not tell him anything, you should make that choice and deal with the consequences. Are you doing something wrong? No! You have chosen a different path, a path that only people who go through it can understand

It is quite hard though because I am still a teenager so it is extremely difficult to persuade him
Thanks in advance

If you were an adult, the result would be the same and you will never be able to convince your father unless your father is interested in the virtual world, in technology. Then the scenario will be different. But if he has no interest in the virtual world, in technology? Do not try to persuade him, because it will be useless. Make your life and lie that you do not use bitcoin.

Well just tell your dad what's you have been doing with your bitcoins. That because of bitcoin you earn money with the help of your own. And you can proudly say that because of this coin you don't need to give you money.

And tell your dad how bitcoin works.
I think making money from bitcoin will not give credence to your father that bitcoin currency is safe and reliable, due to the fluctuation will always haunt and whenever prices could fall so low

Well some days happened since this problem happened soo op, can you give us an update, if you were able to explain to your father about what bitcoin does represent and mean, besides the paid histories related and putting bitcoin at the dark currencie, something that fiat does have and no one seems to care to report it anymore.

My family did the same to me. It is quite understandable that they have the inability to think forward in some cases, because they are taught to earn money from 9-5, save it in the bank and trust no investments.

If he doesn't believe this bitcoin thing, then so be it. It's his loss.
Some people are very set in their ways and they will no believe or even try anything new this is specially true for people of older generations where you could expect to do a job for 40 years and retire but in the current economy you are lucky if you are in the same gig for 4 years.

He is from a different generation.  You will have a hard time to convince him but if you want to persuade anyone ever its best they discover enlightenment by themselves.[...]

Exactly. The more you try to push him towards embracing Bitcoin, the more likely you will fail. If he already holds a negative bias towards Bitcoin, trying to paint it in a positive light might render even more suspicion - especially if you are the child and your dad assumes that you have to learn from him, not the other way around.

Unfortunately you are in an inferior position of power in this case. So sadly the best thing you can possibly do is to take every possible precaution to keep your Bitcoin investment a secret and prevent confiscation/destruction of your wealth by your dad. If you have a really good relationship with him, you can try to come to an agreement: You acknowledge that he does not endorse Bitcoin and thinks it is a scam, but he acknowledges at the same time that you can do seemingly stupid things with your money at your own risk without him intervening.

I don't think it's advisable to try to convince him once the price of Bitcoin has risen, revealing your secret holdings at some point in the future. That likely won't invalidate his silly assumption that Bitcoin is a Ponzi and carries the risk of confiscation/destruction - unlike you have already reached legal age.

ya.ya.yo!

If your dad is having troubles wondering if cryptocurrencies are a scam try showing payment gateways of popular companies to back up the fact that it is convertible to standard rate.

In all honesty if you get a starter supply from faucets it's in your best interest to adjust slowly and show progress.

if I where you, I would convince my dad that bitcoin is not what he is thinking. How? It's hard to convince old people who already have a lot of experience about scams and things like that. The only choice you have right now is to show him that it is not what he is thinking. In short, don't anything that could make your dad angry using bitcoin. I am sure that it is only now that he is not impressed by bitcoin. Soon, they will believe you. Never ever try to lie, it will just boil their blood more.  :)

that must be suck few MLM could and few bad guys whose problem were exposed can really screw up bitcoin's image there. i'd recommend to show some infos about bitcoin to your beloved father and explain why it's trustful. some materials  could be found out in youtube. just search "bitcoin explanation videos" and everything you needs will be there.

in my country also having some MLM which use bitcoin as their currency after failing with fiat and it's really give bitcoin a bad impact among people here

you can continue to store your bitcoin in your wallet in a secret place that only you will know but don't make your dad know about this and make sure your dad is believe that you are save any bitcoin. you don't have to tell your father and make you daily activities like usual and until the time is right, you can tell your father that you have a bitcoin in your wallet but you only use for a good purpose and for a good thing and if he still don't believe, so better don't push him to understand you. its hard to push someone to understand you, maybe let the time will solve this to you. trust me.

First of all tell your dad that Bitcoin is not a way to make payment and earning platform . You need to told how Bitcoin can help in our life through trading and making saving without tax .
This will make your father's mind change .

A reliable source or a newspaper clippings can change your dad's minds about bitcoin or why not pay a visit to a store where bitcoin is accepted or an atm and show him proof that you can withdraw fiat money by exchanging your bitcoin to fiat money.

Try to show him some of your earnings and cash out some and let him know that it is worth the time you spend on it or it is worth holding, or you should buy him something with your bitcoins and tell him that it is not important that a currency should only be used for bad.

It is a strange but also a difficult situation. All depend on your dad character. If he accepts new ideas then you could attempt to inform him as best as you can. If on the other hand, is a man who hardly accepts something new then your options are minimal. That is, either you can stop dealing with cryptocurrencies (would be pity) or you have to hide it from him. You will read different opinions but as always the decision is yours.

I guess all you have to do is tell your father/daddy that you are making money with bitcoins, that you can make an extra cash out of it. And tell him also that it has disadvantages and also advantages but the most important is you can earn money without the actual help of your parents.

That trick works all the time. When I told my dad to invest in bitcoin he told me that it is another scam and he is tired of investing on nonsense things. SO what I did was to ask my dad every friday night to go out for a dinner together with my family, but everytime I did that I had to pass by the atm machine. My dad wondered, where did you get money for our dinner every friday night. I told him its from my earnings in bitcoin. THat day my dad believed me. Try it guys it works.

Chances on making your daddy believe you is high when you do this kind of method or ways on how to introduce bitcoin to him. Good for you that you could able to think off that kind of method actually this will work if your dad is not busy enough on some other things that they could able to hang out  with you but for some people whose dads are too busy i think it would be worthless but better to try than never.

If you are inviting your dad to use bitcoin currency you need him to tell everything about this crypto so he would show his interest too. Don't tell the bad side first tell the good sides of using this one if he don't have work he can use bitcoin itself. Therefore your dad will start using this. Don't also tell your dad about investment tell him about trading into crypto currencies and real money online :)

Tell him about it in a way he'll understand. Tell him if he would have bought $1000 worth of Apple IPO in 1980 he would be a multi-millionaire right now. If he bought $1000 worth of Pets.com in 1998 he would have lost everything. It's a gamble, as is all investing, and if you're right you could be rich. Also, tell him you're not going to invest more than you can afford to lose (because you shouldn't EVER invest more than you can lose).

Now, if your fathers an idiot, he won't get any of this and you shouldn't be discussing anything more complicated than ice cream flavors with him.

It's not easy situation, really.
It seems you are to young and don't have much authority tom convince your father.
Can you find some other person in your local area, older and more experienced, with more authority and with BTC experience?
If yes, ask such person for help.
If you can't find such person, try to find some positive media reports about Bitcoin and show to your father.
You have to be patient with your father.
I'm sure that he loves you and wants the best for you.
I'm sure that soon or later he will understand and support you.

I think the problem here is the belief of his father about bitcoin.  An empty glass can be easily filled with water but a glass filled with water, when you fill it with another volume of water, this water will spill.  That is the case of OP at this point. If he want to convince his father and accept his idea, he should be the one to move first by following his father's advice.  Then do what you have suggested him.  It needs time to change one person's view. Else you will end up in a heated argument.

I don't think a son-father conversation would reach to an argument unless one of them is short tempered, because there is always a layer of love between then when they talk if they have good conversations most of the times, so convincing him with some good ideas and proofs wont be so hard i guess, but only if he can do it without any fear.

You are correct in that aspect but there are different ways of thinking some times people do things behind the back of their loved one because “they know what is best for them” so the OP must be very careful about how to store his coins, especially if he still lives with his parents.

There is some methods to convince your dad that bitcoin is real money and real currency just like fiat, for example you can buy something online using bitcoin and then give this thing to your dad as gift and tell him that it was sold by bitcoin, or if he connect and use internet you can invite him to this forum and show him some real deals made with bitcoin (there is a lot in the marketplace section).

The best idea for now is to not tell your dad you are storing your extra cash in bitcoin, store some bitcoin secretly and when bitcoin price will be more than double than what it is right now show how you have been able to double your fiat within very short period.

I have also gone through similar problem few months back when price was near $400 and now it is $700+ which have been enough for me to convince my father also to invest in bitcoin and he is asking me to buy some bitcoin for him also.  ;D

This is the worst thing you could possibly do. I'm a kid and I know.

Be open. If your dad hates bitcoin, accept it. You will get him to listen to you sometime. What you have to explain is that cash, like bitcoin is also used for illicit uses. Bitcoin is virtual gold, and can be used the same way. Bitcoin is not bad, just some of the people using it are.

I think you should explain to him that every one is different. When someone uses bitcoin to do some illegal things, it does not mean that every one who uses bitcoin also use it that way. tell him that there are a lot of way of earning bitcoin and spending it. give him some example, and probably you can show him how you earn and spend bitcoin. Keep trying.

I did convince mine by simply showing him how I get my own pocket money out of some posts on this great forum, I showed him how easy it is to complete some transactions with it. I got to convince him and now he told me to keep investing my time in it as it can someday become something big.

Giving demonstration is the best way to explain the technology of bitcoin. I use the same method while explaining about bitcoin to my friends, first I give quick introduction and then recharge my phone using bitcoin. I show them how to make a bitcoin transaction and how easy is that as compared to other complicated options. I have helped my couple of friends to open their first bitcoin wallet and they are learning more about it.

First of all, i think you should explain him how many people are using bitcoin, and what is the price of it.
I think that you should also show him how many businessman are investing in this, because it might be a great opportunity for everyone to get a share from the pie!

No need to show them businessmen or any person who achieve their goal with bitcoin. Just showing them that you are using it for good and just like how you use money in real life, usually parents would go against you because they don't know the thing. Avoiding illegal transactions using bitcoin could remove their negative impression about bitcoin. In short, explain with honesty, no need to sugarcoat.

generally speaking when you want to explain to others about bitcoin you have to start by telling them what you yourself do with bitcoin.

for instance i always go with showing them how i can purchase things online with bitcoin without needing to have a credit card and pay extra fees. and then in the end i also talk about bitcoin as an investment and how it has been making me money.

I agree with this although for different reasons. In my opinion you should never mix business and family, if you do and the price of bitcoin gets lower and they lose money they are going to blame you and not the nature of investments, a lot of good relationships have ended because of things like that.

I watched YouTube videos to understand what bitcoin was. That's what I'd suggest to anyone who doesn't understand what it's for. Also explain just because you see on TV that bitcoin is only used for crimes and hacking and shit doesn't make it true. Look at the USD. It's constantly used for crime. So is every currency. It's inevitable.

Why do you need your dad to be convinced about Bitcoin? Do you ask your dad before you get a girlfriend?

Bitcoin is a revolutionary innovation and you should take it as an alternate investment. Make it secret and earn it secretly. Bitcoin can be a source of eternal wealth for you. Don't engage your family members to bit coin.

Since we are all not the same i think he has already a problem for his dad that thinking that bitcoin is illegal to use,,  or maybe if his dad has a plan to start a business he can use bitcoin too to start a business online and accept bitcoin.
If he can study it to use it they can start a business online make an gambling casino that neighbors can play and other country that can motivate other people to use..

I agree, when i was starting with bitcoin, my family was very annoyed at me because i was infront of PC the whole day reading and learning about bitcoin economy and mining.  They often scolded me about it and when i tried to reason out without following their suggestion, it became a heated argument.  So I just follow their suggestion but while keeping myself into reading about bitcoins.  Then after sometime, when I handed them my earning of around 1.5 BTC from different giveaway and bounty collected from tasks, they started to get easy on my activities with bitcoin.  And now that i established my earnings even if it is not that big, they are now pushing me to be morea active to different activities and reminds me of my trades when they saw me relaxing and watching movies lol.

It is quite hard though because I am still a teenager so it is extremely difficult to persuade him
Thanks in advance
your dad ban it because he just hear bad things from bitcoin
explain to your father with good things about bitcoin example bitcoin can get profit more without work hard , can used to all age like me who still teenager or student

I think you should start introducing bitcon to him if he is in a good mode. You need some good evidence to give him about bitcoin, you need to tell him all the feathers of bitcoin to him in a good way, and hoe that he will easily understand your statement and will start using bitcoin.

Bitcoin itself has 80% potential to get spread by itself but the remaining 20% is your contribution to make deal done.

Nice story you convinced them not with words but by your acts that is a nice way to do it, but I don't think the OP can use that strategy since his father already thins bitcoin is only for criminals so even if he showed his profits maybe his father will think it comes from criminal activities.

Correct, comparing MLM and bitcoin would be good because your dad will surely could able to tell the difference between two things.Good approach and precise explanation will surely work if you do make efforts on explaining it to him.Bitcoin has good benefits to its users and theres no way to compare it to MLM coz those are real scams.

Well that's very hard >.< when it comes to dads i really convinced my dad about bitcoin recently yes! you can buy illegal activities but i have some of my ideas how to convince your dad like a did to my dad i am going to tell you my dad is one hard man to deal with when it comes to internet he thinks its a fraud i spend my life in the internet earning then he always says to me that "you don't have a life in the internet as well you cant earn from it" so i started to try bitcoin so i earn bitcoin so earn up much money you can give to your dad and tell him that bitcoins can do good things or spend it to your school the expense of your school you will handle that dads are very fragile when it comes to that because dads think that you're grown up and he will stop bothering you and start believing in you that's what i did i spend my hole money in my school my expenses when we don't have money i tried to bank my money and give them to my parents and now i am free :D but respect is the key to that matter ^_^ have a good day :D

Your dad considers bitcoin as stupid or dummy currency is because he only knows about the bad things that happen in our cryptoworld. Like you said bitcoin is being used for illegal activities in your country thats all your dad knows about bitcoin, show him the good side of bitcoin and try explaining that all things have their own good and bad its up to us what we use it for. I understand he is concerned that bitcoin may have bad effects on you, try reducing that fear.

"customers don't know what they want until we've shown it to them" - Steve Jobs

I couldn't resist myself from requoting this statement from Steve Jobs. People are using cash and they will keep using it until we show them cryptocurrency. We should help (and sometimes push) them to explore the world of cryptocurrency and then they would truly understand what bitcoin or altcoins are all about. We should make them clear, how it works and how it is better than the traditional payment systems that we have been using since years.

You are not helping, he was caught involved in bitcoin, and for his father, bitcoin is a bad thing.  So he is asking how to convince his father that being involved with bitcoin is not a bad thing.  Btw, he never asked permission anyway, he was just caught.

It is easier to discuss about bitcoin if your audience has zero knowledge about it, but with a person with negative view over it, it will be an argument.  You see it will trigger authority, and your dad has it.  Though decision is up to you, whether you will surrender to your father's liking or continue with what is your doing.  If you want to explain him about bitcoin, you should have your flag down first and raise a white flag recognizing his authority.  And then little by little explain to him about bitcoins, how you get involved, what task you are doing to get bitcoin, how it helped you fund things you wanted to buy and most of all do it with respect.

It's pretty hard to explain this to non technical people and also can be perplexing to programmers. First, you can explain to him what currency is. Fiat currency is backed by a government's credit, and Bitcoin by a decentralized network. The advantages Bitcoin offers are all transactions are transparent, and no single authority can control its network. It would be impossible to alter the amount of coins or any past transactions without simultaneously modifying millions of computers around the world, which is also unlikely to happen. Also it has been running for seven years and no authority, even FBI could shut it down.

It is not that hard to convice people bitcoin is not used for bad stuff only. People buy drugs with dollars, at one point I read that on every single 100 dollar bill there was cocaine traces, so does that mean 100$ is used for only illegal stuff? No. So does bitcoin.

Just tell him the history behind it and how it doesn't differ on other fiat currencies, either it is used legally or illegally plus tell him the benefits of using it like the convenience and lower transaction fees compared to other payment methods as well as tell him it's a good investment.

It is really hard to convince someone whose at first place does not even want to hear anything new about, those who dont open their hearts and understanding for innovation abd changes. And it gets harder knowing its his father. If im in the position I will tell him that he made me a better person that I admire him fir supporting his family and I will not do anything that will put his name, our family at sake that Im doing this because its beneficial and i enjoyed it. Dont rush things for sure his dad will eventually accept it soon. Don't give up on convincing your dad knowing you did'nt do anything wrong. Soon it all be fine.

Technically speaking fiat is not backed by anything since governments stopped backing their currencies with precious metals, so the only thing backing fiat is the trust we have put behind it and if you are in this forum I suppose you don't have too much confidence in fiat either.

Wrong !!!!!! If your have read the post of OP you will know that his dad has knowledge of Bitcoin, but the only thing that his dad know is that Bitcoin is used by mostly criminals therefore endangering the life of the teenager. What he can do is try to explain more about it and try to clarify things with his dad. Also all governments back there currency every time they print new currency they support it as the President has the power to control the quantity of money.

How about this, in addition to teaching him about bitcoin - including all the good and bad things about it, why not create a wallet for him and give him some amount of bitcoins and let him try it out/play around with bitcoin for himself. Show him how to keep and use bitcoin safely and carefully and maybe he will see first hand for himself that Bitcoin can be trusted and safe if used correctly and smartly. It may encourage him to open his mind and do some more of his own research of bitcoin if he owns some of his own.

My father was a retired employee of the mining company. And he doesn't like to work online. No problems so far, he did not interfere in my business, including bitcoin. If necessary, talk only about virtual currency that can be used for trade, if he sees the negative news about Bitcoin in tv and internet. Notify if Bitcoin is similar to FIAT that can be used for anything, including crime. So exactly the same as most currencies.

The best way to convince him is to show him how the price has increased. Maybe even ask him for a few dollars and then return it to him after a price hike to show him it is something worth investing. If that fails then you'd probably just have to use your bitcoins in secret. Like really, with how things are developing now, would you dump your bitcoins because it just happened that your dad don't like it?

Why do you need to convince your dad for bitcoin? Convince him for your girlfriend and keep bitcoin within yourself to get the most out of it. Earn adn hold your bitcoin for few years and buy something expensive for your dad to surprise him. Your dad will understand. You will not have to convince him that time.

What a situation man! I have never heard before that bitcoin can have such negative trust. I don't know what to recommend to you. Try to hide your bitcoin activity if you can. You can use wi-fi in some cafés for this bitcoin making. There is no chance to your dad change his opinion in this situation.

Maybe show him that there are debit cards visa and mastercard such as wirex for Bitcoin now...

The old people I tried to explain what Bitcoin is to didn't trust it until I went to an ATM, created a wallet for them and helped them deposit money in it. This is what they want - virtual isn't safe for them, and although wallets are virtual too, they feel safer with them.

If you want to convince your dad that bitcoin is trustful currency then show some proofs to your dad like telling him to watch different videos on youtube that discuss what is bitcoin, what are the advantages of using it and what is the history behind it. I already encountered that kind of scenario where your parents doesn't trust online opportunities but when i tell them to watch the videos that discuss bitcoin it clears their confusion and they are supporting me in my bitcoin journey.

I think actual is the best to show that bitcoin is real and it is not scam because here in my country when i was telling some friends and relatives they are thinking that bitcoin is scam that honestly they really don't know about it now because of giving them proof and actual way to deposit and withdrawing it they are interested in bitcoin but they are not using it except in my wife that actually addicted in gambling.,

I'm lucky that my parents don't know anything about btc or whatever...There wasn't a single news article about bitcoin in my country from the day it began.
If I was you,I would just show my dad some YT videos and see how that will go.

It won't help because his dad is a close minded person already because of a lot of illegal things that are coming out with the society on their place and the medium for those acts is with bitcoin. It's kinda hard to encourage and change the mind of his dad because his dad thinks that way by showing him on how you use bitcoin legally will simply make his mind change.

Exactly he just his father for what purpose he is using bitcoin. And where he is getting bitcoin. Suppose if he is making bitcoin from gambling then it is tough to convince. I think he will never convince if it happens. If he is making coins from any signature campaign or any other online work, then there is a possibility are there to convince his father.

Most dads do really have close minds on which if they think its a bad thing they will stand on their decision until the end that's why we would really have a hard time on convincing them regarding to bitcoin. As in the OP mentioned his dad saw bitcoin is just an another scam that exist online. Therefore the best way to convince or change his view about bitcoin is showing him how to use it as a currency.

Too bad op is in hard situation just because of those people who are using bitcoin in his place illegally. It is good enough to know that there are bitcoin users near your place but with his case, I will not going to be proud of it for I will be also affected.

Yes using technical terms usually scares the person and there is a possibility that the concerned person might stay away from the thing we want him to know.

So, It would be great to use very familiar language and explain bitcoin technology with some familiar terms like email, sms, etc. As per my experience, demonstration works smoothly while explaining bitcoin to a new person and giving him some satoshis in his fresh wallet is like turning a key for starting his car.

That you have to to do is convince your father to believe if you do not abuse the bitcoin for illegal activities. Maybe you engage your dad how you manage bitcoin correctly, I'm sure if he knew directly would definitely believe you and his mind can open. Indeed, for those who do not know bitcoin would think like that, but if given the understanding he'll have a new mind and trust with bitcoin.

That's why most articles are written in a language that most people can understand. No one wants to read an article that's so technical that you'd feel you're reading some technical manual about bitcoin. Most article writers write in a way that their reader would feel as if the writer is just talking to them personally. Some even include words like, "Haha" and whatnot to even show emotions in their article.

People would just back-off if they found words in your article that they do not understand. Keep in mind that there's a lot of articles written on the internet, you don't have to force yourself to read something that have technical words. Nonetheless, watching youtube videos would give you similar results as reading this type of article because the video maker is literally talking to you.

You should tell to your dad, the good benefits of bitcoin to you, and tell to him that your not doing any illegal, or show to him how it works so that he will understand that you are not doing any illegal things. Is there any exchanger of bitcoin from your country? Show him that this bitcoin can convert in real money, and show what are you doing to earn bitcoin. My parents too think this bitcoin as a scam, MLM. But they see I can earn here and they know im not doing any illegal things. So my parents let me earn this coin.

Show him all the article of coindesk, cointelegraph etc. Show him that bitcoin is legalized in big countries like USA and Russia. Show him even that Russia initially banned him but 2 years after change mind and has clasified it as a foreign currency (legalising it). Ask him to convince you why bitcoin is a bad thing and discuss with him about this continually. Show him the value of bitcoin in time and explain him that cannot be possible to be such increase of price for something that has not value or is dirty.

Why do you need to convince your dad about bitcoin? and who said, that bitcoin is a trustful coin?? WHose trust you are bestowing upon bitcoin. Bitcoin is a decentralized currency and no one actually controls them. Bitcoin is not backed by any asset.

However, bitcoin is backed up by people's trust and that is the only factor about bitcoin. Don't convince your dad to invest in bitcoin. Try with your own money. So that you won't have to worry about food even if you loose all your savings in to bitcoin.

First of all you have to teach your father that what is Bitcoin and how it is regulated in market and how Bitcoins are generated. Untill you tell your father about Bitcoin basics than how will they understand your point? Than tell them that Bitcoin is not centralized and not regulated by any central authority or any Government institution and also tell them that Bicoin can not be hacked so it is secure to hold. You can convince them saying that it can make him reach if you invest some money and hold it for long time.

Though your father maybe also correct because converting all your money into Bitcoin is also not a wise decision so you should also try to understand him.

Maybe he can discover the benefits of bitcoin because we are growing and i think he will regret in the future. if he is late of knowing about bitcoin..
If i can say already that bitcoin is trusted well he should research since he has knowledge to run many computers as admin in her office so it will be interested if many people here in country are using it..

Tell him that you do not trust in Bitcoin (that may be quite surprising but I think it is the solution, let me explain it). Tell him that it is for you just some toy that you are using to make extra cash by posting on a forum, that you will not put all your savings into Bitcoin, that you just like to earn some extra cash. You can stop here, or if you want to convert him, you can go further, by impressing it. In order to do so, order something online using Bitcoin. This is generally a good way to impress people, as they will now sense that Bitcoin is real money.

I think the father will be getting pissed and Bitcoin will have a  more negative impact to his dad's view.  It is not risky but actually stupid suggestion.  It will never help him to make his Dad understand about the legalities and good side of bitcoin.  Giving Bitcoin to his Dad to play in Casino to prove that bitcoin is not illegal LOL.

It is always best to start with the basic.  But first in order for one camp to listen, the boy must listen to his father first.  Then present his case with all the proof that bitcoin is not the way his father know it.  Look for an iconic actor or actress that believe in bitcoin as example.

From the way I read it, dad has already made up his mind.
I don't think there is much you can do about that.
But you can explain to him, that your money is yours, and you can use it the way you think it's best.
Maybe you even have bitcoin as an investment. Adults like the word 'investment' for some reason.
He might accept that you use your money as investment.

It's not easy to convince people who are not willing to listen. Whatever we tell them, as long as they are are not open and willing to understand  what we are saying, it won't work. Actually we don't need to convince them, we just need them to understand bitcoin. Explaining both sides of bitcoin, like advantage and disadvantages, the price drops and price increases, and the hacks and dramas.

I guess theres no other way to convince your dad since the mindset of old people are fixed and sometimes they wont listen to younger ones. The only thing you can do is that you need to multiply your capital and withdraw it then show your dollars to your dad. Profit can convince everybody and even if you cannot convince him to use bitcoin then at least he will allow you engage in bitcoin. But if still he is not convinced then just do it in secret.

Try to explain him about the acceptance in big corporate firms, the successful technology behind it, the variation in price happening in accordance to time. Also the raising market capital and adoption from low level common men. Importantly explain how it overcame scenarios when people indicated it as a failed technology with its advantageous features. Sure your dad too will soon becomes a bitcoin user.

You have to accept fact that is not possible to inspire everybody about Bitcoin.
All of us have very different background, experience, understanding etc.
Some people feel very comfortable using Internet and trying new things and some people simple don't feel comfortable with new technologies.
I don't think that you can do much about it.
Even if you show your dad some good earnings from Bitcoin, he will still be skeptical, I guess.
Just focus on bitcoin and don't talk to much about it with people who can't understand it, otherwise you will loose to much energy on something what you can't solve.

Just focus on bitcoin and don't talk to much about it with people who can't understand it, otherwise you will loose to much energy on something what you can't solve.

but i think it also depend on you that how can you convince a person, if you have good skill of convincing, then it will easy for you to convince your father, it is also a fact that every one can different convincing capacity of understanding,

I have all the friends believe that Bitcoin is an empty space and nothing will come of it, and it is not useful

So what is your point in your comment? I didn't understand what you're trying to say. If you have friends that don't believe in Bitcoin, why should the OPs father believe in what you say? It doesn't help one bit. You got to think of something that could help his dad believe in bitcoin.

I guess the thing that you can do is invite your Dad with you to en cash your bitcoin into a real money, and give it to Him, I assure to you your Dad will going to believe at once  because most of the people nowadays are to see is to believe. So give what they want to believe in.

Telling them that it is trending might just give them a wrong impression about bitcoin.... But telling them that it is the same as money and it is not illegal and you won't go wrong while using it would calm them down... Talking to a dad and making things sound awesome would just make you sound lying. They always care about you so even if they are asking you, sometimes they already know what you are talking about and just want to hear it straight from you...

If they don't want the idea, better stop, and just convince them next time...  :)

I agree with what Rick said. you know parents are kind of sceptical to their children on what they may find or discover because they don't fully trust their kids. It's better to have trust with each other instead of just providing the children's needs. It's important, yes, the upbringing also is important.

Certainly a good convincing power can make your dad understand about bitcoin, gave an extra consideration and try to be more patient regarding on how you explain and let him understand the best way you can do, in that matter possibly your dad totally agree with you and even to open up his mind he can see how bitcoin works for you.
