Title: Once we hit $1000, how far will BTC drop?
Post by: tequilamockingbird on December 26, 2016, 10:10:58 AM
With $1000 in the not too distant future and the ensuing sell off (I'm sure many consider this a psychological target to sell 20-50% of their bitcoins for profit, if only to re-invest after the drop).

The question is: after $1000, just how far do you think BTC will drop back? Could we see the days of $500 from August again, or are we stable above $800-900?

If the bitcoin will reach 1000$ price each then the drop the you are expecting might happen because we know that if there is a pump there is a dump. In my opinion, Bitcoin will drop down to 600$ then it will take a few weeks or even months then it will climb up again to 750$ to at least 870$ then it will become stable for that price. But that is only my prediction for the price.

My prediction for this price pump. It will drop to $700, 'coz BTC now is in demand so that's why it won't drop to less than $700. And now based on observing the btc pump is predictable 'coz of the christmas holiday. Anyways just a newbie on trading, but has a year of experience. I won't contradict with the pro's here 'coz they have more experience than me. Anyways Happy Holidays :)

it depends on the occasion, few days a go the bitcoin price is hitting the roof because there are so many transaction due to the Christmas events, at that point the price will not hold for a long time, it will go down soon, but if the price rise without any events, its mean that there are investor that made the transaction at that point maybe bitcoin could hold in the position, but I don't think it can drop back to 500$ because there are increasing amount of bitcoin user

It might drop substantially but I don't think it will go down under $750, and I think you're correct that the price may stable around $800-900, given the bitcoin's fundamentals are getting firmer everyday and it's better overall for bitcoin if the volatility will be checked.

who told you it will hit 1000$ ?
it seems likely but it will not happen overnight,Huobi and other chinese exchanges have been trying for many days
the price went from 780-790 to 890$ in a week or so
I hope we stabilise at 900 and have some growth in the next 2 or 3 weeks that follow
again I don't think 1000$ is going to happen before February

Thats depends on the bitcoin holders if they are going to sell their holdings. But i think 30%-50% price of bitcoin will be decrease when the owners decided to sell their btc when it reached the $1000. $1000 is good price. Even me, its harder to hold bitcoin when the price reach that price. Maybe we will never see that price again.

don't even dream about days of cheap bitcoin prices of $500 don't even expect to see $700 ever again. those days are long gone and you have to accept the new much higher price which will never go down.

and you see what is happening right now with $900? price goes above it and goes back down. the same thing will happen with $1000
if there is enough support to go to $1000 then there will be enough to keep it up and then you see $1200 over night after that short period.

If Bitcoin reaches  at 1,000$ after then maybe it's down at 800$ before returning at 1,250$ about 3 months later.
That is my prediction.

If the price will touch in $1k value the price will down because many people will be satisfied with the price increase and i think it is just a normal if we are seeing the price was increase it is just a normal that the price will decrease again.. but it is a good sign that the price can be touch in 1k value.. and i think that it can be stay long in the future like the price right now.. we are staying long in 800 value and 900 again back..

If enough large players have set their targets on selling at the time the price reaches $1000, then I think the lowest (for the time being) the price will drop is to the $700 mark. In a better scenario which at the same time is more likely to happen, we might fall back to below $850 where we maintain the $800 level. But it's pure speculation. Only time will tell what will happen.

your question is wrong.

what happens to the price does not depend on when but instead it depends on how meaning when price reaches $1000 anything can happen depending on HOW it got there.

for example if we reach $1000 this week price will crash back to $800 again but if we reach $1000 2-3 months later and more nothing is going to happen really, we will stay there on $1000

i think it will drop from $1000 to $500 i think because im thinking this will be the reason for the bitcoin drop down price. we all know that many users will exchange their bitcoins to fiat because even we dont think about it thats the truth .. that fiat will always be the best because its the primary money use on transactions on our everyday life..

Yes it all depends on how fast we hit $1000.
The rise from $800 to $900 was fast and doesn't seem to have lost much from what its gained.
Unless the rise to $1000 happened overnight, I don't see the price dropping below the current levels.

Yes if it hits $1K then it will surely drop at some point. It depends on what is happening around the bitcoin market.

Don't forget that bitcoins price is tied by the laws of supply and demand. For example when it hits $1K, A large

number of btc was sold,  It should drop around $800-700. Also read some article about manipulation of pumps and

dumps.

That is my prediction.

$750 is more accurate, that is the last stable price before this rally went all the way up, so i guess it's should be more probable that it will return at that point, but i also think that we can set a new bottom if we go above $1000 this time, so maybe 1k will be the new bottom and the last ath will be reached again

Obviously profit booking will take place as many investors would have been targeting $1000 price levels but I believe before it makes a pullback, I guess it will set a new ATH. Because, new investors will be rushing and definitely would be more than profit booking. So, after $1000 a jump will be possible before any pullback.

If OP refers on what happened four years ago, then he doesn`t have valid arguments for his words except history. I`m a gambler and I know how many times we can see same situation like before, patterns are everywhere around us. I just think its not possible, circumstances now and then are completely different, and this time bitcoin can hold that 1000 $, now too many peoples around the world are involved in bitcoins, and bunch of companies that support bitcoin and blockchain.
I don`t think its a pump, but we will see very soon I think.

Nothing is assured with the increase and decrease of bitcoin price. Price increase took place in a short to a big value, which too goes down without providing any notification. This holds the market to be without crisis as well depending other country's.

Not sure if we touch $1k in this up leg, but once the correction starts, I think we should test $700 support. I agree that we could see 20% drop from where we are now, as a reasonable correction target. But we will know more for sure once the correction starts.

let's see how the Chinese do to bitcoin on trading strategies, if this rise made mainly by China. i think $700 is less likely in the cards as the 700+ has been a while.

This year is the increase in the price of bitcoin best in my opinion. Bitcoin is more developed than the previous year. I believe that if the price of bitcoin crashed it will not reach less than $ 500. If I may predict definitely at a price range of $ 580 and above. Because of fluctuations in bitcoin, bitcoin prices now stronger than ever, so that if the fall will not be too far away.

hi tequilamockingbird , bitcoin price can stable in range 800 - 1000 dollar is long time if without accidenet
in reseach bitcoiner use meta trader MT4 and added several indicator
in resistance price in level 1000 dollar
if can reach to 1000 dollar, bitcoin price can still up
in support price maximum rise to 800 dollar
if never big news, or accident exchanger hacker attack, bitcoin can't crash under 800 dollar

Yes, I too think it is only possible when there are more number of new adopters than those who will be looking to book profits at $1000. I agree, there will be more media coverage when bitcoin testing four digit price levels, so new adopters will come and join the party. I guess most probably there will not be price drop once bitcoin hit $1000.

I assure you I am not a troll. In fact, I am "newbie" just like you pinacolada. Actually I'm someone who has been following bitcoin with great interest for around two years, but had been too foolish/hesitant to get involved until this rise. Now I feel like every value is "cheap" compared to the 10+ years future potential of bitcoin.

My only concern is if the people selling at $1000 (and there will be many) are enough to push BTC down below the value today (~$900). Or are there other factors which can hold the value up during this sell off?

Just for the record my gut tells me $1000 will lead to a drop down to $850, before a quick rise upto $1200, before settling around that level. $1200 might seem an over-valuation, but it seems we are entering a new phase of Bitcoin where government action (India, China etc) is leading people to seek bitcoin out through need rather than curiousity.

This is what will make a lot of people suicidal. They think we are going to see a mega drop after we reach 1000$ when it's not the case at all. We are going to get past 1000$. Sure there may be a correction because market psychology and 1000 being a very round number, but the correction will be way smaller than a lot of people think. They will lose their pants shorting and they will be out of the game as they aren't able to buy back, or they will buy back at a loss. The best thing to do is not sell a single satoshi, we can only go up in the long run.

If it drops 100$, i'll buy. And if drops another 100$, i'll buy again. As long as it is dropping, I will buy. So, the final figure does not actually matter, after all, after the drop it will push back up again.

That's mean, so many fool people just trying to get small profit.
But, I don't think so, the increasing to $800 had been going through step by step and seems more stable.
Difference between $800-$900 that looks like in rush just one-two days and many people sell out their coins too.
If, we could reach $1000, maximal drop will be at $850 and keep increasing again, why you should sell it out if don't really need money?
Better to keep it as your main savings.

Seems that we are rapidly approaching to 100$. And because of the past experience people are probably expecting big and rapid drop in price afterwards. But this doesn't necessary happen. Bitcoin is not more stable, more embeded then before. The dump will occurr sooner or later but it doesn't necessary have be a catastrophy.

For me the minimum should be around $800 and the maximum dipping point is $700. As long as the price stays in that range, we can assured that we are going to meet soon some new bottom floor. But prior to that, who knows that maybe price can build a good support around $900 since traders will think that many will take part of another rounds of buys once there is a sudden dump @ reaching $1000 mark.

This is really getting exciting. Im waiting too for the drop. Hopefully drop will happen at above $1000 so that it can test how far that price range will sustain the support.

What makes you think that it will drop right after hitting 1000$, it can get up more, it is not impossible. But when it drops, it wont go lower than about 800$, it is the floor, mazbe even higher, who knows? It is not really pumping really fast (at least not super fast), so it wont drop drastcally.

It's normal to see the price drop after reaching a new high or special target point. It's safe to say that reaching $1000 fits nicely in that category. If there aren't any more hacked exchanges, or worthless fud articles that people take for granted so easily, then the drop will be temporarily and not that intense. In that view, falling below the $800 point would be seen as the price being oversold. Everything above $900 seems fair.

At what point in the history of bitcoin has it made a new ATH and then fallen back below it before going up further.  I can remember some short lived testing of support, but I don't recall it ever falling back below until after it cleared much higher levels.

I hope for bigger price in following few days maybe even 1000

With $1000 in the not too distant future and the ensuing sell off (I'm sure many consider this a psychological target to sell 20-50% of their bitcoins for profit, if only to re-invest after the drop).

The question is: after $1000, just how far do you think BTC will drop back? Could we see the days of $500 from August again, or are we stable above $800-900?

I personally think the opposite. I think that $1000 is a mental barrier for investors and once they see that barrier is broken they will accumulate like crazy. There is little chance that they will dump when they've seen what bitcoin can do, going from $400 to $1000 in a year.

We're not that far away, already $935~.

I think the price could reach the psychological barrier of 1000$, we are so near to reach it. The price can drop not below 800USD from my point because the price has been fairly stable since this summer.

The market will tell us the price in the future.

I would welcome the "days of August of $500" again. Please let it happen, I would be very happy to pick up those coins and add them all to my cold wallet. Bitcoin has been proven time and time again that it has not reached its full potential value yet. The dark markets is a potential billion US Dollar market with Bitcoin in the middle of it all, supporting it. Where do you think Bitcoin's price be in 5 years time? It will be higher than it is now.

there are many traders that will welcome a lot higher low prices (such as $800, $790 and $750) with all the money they have. so be sure your dream of $500 days will never come true since the buy support is pretty strong and growing stronger each day.

I bet it won't dip till just before $1,100 not $1,000. There are too many holders and wishful thinkers to let it fall at $1,000 sharp.

You'll see it dip to the low $900s once it gets close to $1,100 and then soon enough is back up over $1,000 forever. I'd say gradual bumps of $100 every 2 months with a little dip here or there before a rocket recovery back. $1,600 by the end of 2017 for sure. Hopefully more, possibly $2,000ish. Its gonna take time though, nothing overnight is gonna happen.

Unless a massive sell-off happens by the time the price reaches $1000, I don't think the price will still fall as low as $500. If ever it corrects, I think it will settle at the $700 or $800 level, but that is still a very high price considering how it has performed the last twelve months.

my prediction is that after $1000 there will be a drop and it is even possible to see some FUDsters start working hard again and we may see a drop back to $900 but the good news is that whenever this happens in any market there will be a much bigger rise. which means $1200 right after.

People, or perhaps a group of whales (which I find to be more likely), hire hackers, create fake news sites, DDOS exchanges, etc, all to get a panic reaction. Most of the times they are not succeeding, but in some cases these planned attacks work and hit the market with massive sell-offs at result. It works because people are taking everything for granted directly without using common sense. As long as that doesn't change, these manipulators can just continue their thing to get the market to come down. People and traders should grow over it. At least, that's what I would expect after all these years.

In my opinion, there are good chances that the price will fall by the end of the year. But I don't think it will be a dump on a large scale... Even at Christmas, the drop in price was not very significant, and soon after the price remained strong and continued to rise. I think the same will happen at the end of the year, the demand is growing, and the network effect becomes better every day.

IMO, because bitcoin in this time already had many users than before, I think for the price drop is not too far maybe around $700 or $800. Hopefully.

The person who would sell when we hit 1000 USD is really stupid.

Why would anyone sell as we approach a past all time high ?

Bitcoin usually explodes higher when it comes close to past bubble tops.

Selling between now and at least 1500 USD would be stupid I think.

It depends on how you look at it. If people have bought their coins around the $950 levels and start cashing out at the time the price reaches $1000, then it's not worth selling for.

But if you managed to buy your coins far below $500 you'll be in a very nice position right now. It's wise to cash out a certain part of your profits as there are no guarantees that it will go up more.

Another good thing about cashing out some profits right now is that it will allow you to buy back at the time the price is falling down again. It's smart people anticipating on common market effects. Definitely not stupid.

What makes you think it will drop?

Because what goes up will come down. For every action there is an opposite and equal reaction, see you around $700 fairly soon, an exchange will be hacked in 3.2.1

The previous ATH was the only bitcoin bubble to fall below the previous ATH value before it started.  The opposite reaction here is money moving out of savings accounts, bonds, commodities, and stocks.  It doesn't take much.

Again depends on how you look at it. Even if you bought coins at 200 USD, it makes sense to cash out right now only if your BTC holding represents a large part of your total net worth. This is because the upside potential outweighs the downside potential by a large margin. If you hold a 1000 USD BTC, you can loose a maximum of 1000 USD, but you can make 4000 USD or more fairly quickly by keeping the coin. So if BTC is a small part of your net worth, cashing in on the gains right now is not a wise decision. Obviously if you have a significant portion of your net worth in BTC, you can sell some of your BTC holdings now.

It sounds like you have some sound knowledge of the monies running from x y and z, have you got any proof of that or is that your theory. The market manipulation could not be any more obvious and once they have sold enough you will hear of a massive hack and down down we go, right on schedule.

In Dec 2013 it rose really fast - from $250 to over $1000 in just a month.

And then a few months later we had the Mt Gox fiasco, and that was what forced the price down to $400.

The price has gone up pretty fast this month, but nowhere near as fast as in 2013. It was about $750 at the start of December.

There might be some sell-offs by people who bought at the previous top, who cash in because they got burnt and want out.

But the news coming from China and India and other places suggest that the amount of people looking to protect their money is much higher than in 2013, and these newcomers will support the price.

Bitcoin is not FIAT, with inflation and centrally steered value, BTC is designed to be deflationary. Why people can't understand this?

There is no reason for price to go again to $500 level, we may see some dump/correction to $900 level or $950 but i don't think it will now go under $900 if it will be able to cross huge resistance at $1000.

It will depend on how many people and how much of their bitcoin that they will sell after the price have reached $1000 or higher . We can never prevent it to happen as we all know most people wants to get profit and I am going to include myself . I can't predict how much price that the bitcoin will drop but I'm hoping that it will be only around $800 .

Unfortunately the price of bitcoin still depends a lot on the greedy decisions of speculators, therefore it would not be difficult to see a decline towards $800 again. I do not think the fall can be stronger because the the price increase had remained stable and consistent to that level. But from that price the current level is pure speculation.

I think similar to you. The price can reach to $1100 and down to $750 next. But I think it stabilize a bit lower than $900, maybe $800. Anyway, it's a big achievement to see it reaching so close to $1000 before the new year. We are going to beat $1000, the big whales made their choice, they want to complete the achievement before 2017. Big money bet on it...

The rise is always what we wanted but forgetting the law of gravity but in the case of Bit coin, although we should be expecting a drop but I am certain of no sharp drop in the sense that people are getting more involved in Bitcoin which means a lot of people that have sold during the holidays will actually want to get more which might aid keeping the price at not too far below the $1000 mark...

The speculators are the people who move the price in any currency, and any cryptocurrency. It's not just bitcoin. However yes, speculators can have a larger effect on bitcoin because the market cap is way smaller than foreign exchange markets, and it is quite easy to move the markets even with just 10-20k.

I'd say that $1000 would be a fair resting place though, I personally do not believe there will be a crash anytime soon.

Some people will take profits when it hits that point. Others who bought at near $1000 in 2013 will cash out. So there might be a pullback. But for people in China, which has undergone six devaluations this year, or India where cash is under attack, it will still be worth buying.

So there might be a pullback, a breather, and then another push up to $1200.

As it reach to $1000 by new year i think it will drop back to $900 or below and it is stable on that price . We should be glad to see bitcoin price reach at 1k and we dont know if we could see it again sooner or later. But it is just speculations we dont know the exact price of drop but im sure it will drop soon.

That is true. The more Bitcoin rises higher and higher the less it is likely to go back to $500. I believe all of us would agree that it may never go back to the days of a $100 per Bitcoin unless something really horrendous happens to the network like Satoshi suddenly dumps all his coins in the market. Or maybe even some movement of his funds from wallet to wallet could affect the price in a bad way.

also Huobi has already breached the 1000$ mark today, even if briefly
with the megaupload 2.0 launch early January we could see even more spikes

things have always been unpredictable in bitcoin. and whenever there is a rise things become harder to predict also.

my speculation is that the $1000-$1200 range is going to be a tough range for us and only because of the mentality of people about this price, it has been over a year that i keep hearing people say they want to sell when $1000 is reached. and many of them will actually do it too.

well I am also hoping that the price will just fall back to $900 even $800 could be good in my view . as of now the price seemed to be very active that it could hit $1000 as soon as possible and it would be great as I'm going to see it become $1000 price value for the first time . all of us didn't know what will be the exact price of bitcoin after it drops back so let's just see what will happen in the next couple of months .

We just speculating here, I wish everyone to take a look at this topic:
"We got hacked" coming!  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1732340.0 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1732340.0)
I see connection here, hacks are reason why price is dropping. In topic above you can find out that after first big rise MtGox was hacked, and after other spikes that bitcoin price had same thing happened. Interesting fact for me is how many bitcoins were stolen in every hack. Mt Gox lost 744,408 BTC,  119,756 BTC stolen from Bitfinex, big difference in amount of coins and in price in dollars. Looks like drop depends from amount of stolen bitcoins. Exchanges now doesnt have so many coins in wallets like MtGox had.
To be short, if there is no hack maybe price can stay high. If exchange sites are better protected now, and if they have some kind insurance (bitfinex recovered fast after hack) maybe there will be no drop.

Hate to burst the bubble but it looks like it wont reach the $1000 mark. It failed a few times on bitfinex and bitstamp and now it seems to be in a descending triangle and those always break low. Be very careful trading this monster.

It traded on Yobit for $1080 this morning and over $1000 on all  the Chinese exchanges

The big problem is the banks are closed for a lot of people until the 4th of January,   several people wanted to buy from me but I ain't selling in this range and they will have to wait for the new year and buy from exchanges like everyone  else

I am not going near my cold storage coins to sell to people I have been telling for years to buy bitcoins and many of them didn't and want in now for the ride to 10k

it is expected for the price to go down during the Christmas and New Year holidays
poeple will need some cash and some will be selling, also the price peaked at the almost all time high
some were happy to sell at 970$ ish, hence the price stabilised at approximately 950$ with chinese exchanges volumes go down
I think we are looking at a lull untill 5-8th of January

If that would be the truth what are you talking, bitcoin will fall on Christmas and new year holidays, because of many people would cash out their bitcoins for presents and other staff. But I don't see it's happening. I see the price continue to grow. I see on the exchanger that I always use the price is 1030$.

I actually disagree with this view. When, and if, bitcoin hits $1,000, and if there is actually a drop, then it would probably happen relatively fast as the holiday season ends. The current value has been bubbling up, and there's a reason a pop is called a pop. It will go down quick and hopefully stabilize at or slightly above the previous stable mark which I do agree with.

The recent trending bitcoin price in the past month has been much stable and has been increased many times rapidly which makes me think that the price can drop at 10% within a day maximum.

i completely agree.
bitcoin price has been rising slowly and it is like taking slow steps. each time there is a rise immediately afterwards there is a stable price period where everything stays the same and after some dumps (shaking out weak hands) the resistances are tested and then the next step of the rise happens.

and if we see a similar thing with $1000 i am sure price will stay up there.

Once the bitcoin price hits 1,000$ it maybe drop at max 850$ and it will be in sideway for 1-2 months after that it will grow up again.
I expect the new top price hits at 1,260$ in September, 2017.

People thinking the price will increase to much higher levels in the coming months. I am happy that I have bought my coins well below $500 when I had the chance. I wouldn't feel comfortable buying at current prices if I didn't buy back then. That being said, without people buying at current levels there is no way we can go even higher, so I am thankful to people buying as I see my stash increase in value constantly.

It will drop to a $1000 from $3000 high which is coming this month.

A 3X increase in the exchange rate, that too in a time span of 30 days require nothing short of a miracle. It may happen by the end of this year, but definitely not within a month's time.

Also remember that a 100% increase in the exchange rate is different when the increase is from $500 to $1,000, and from $1,000 to $2,000. The latter requires 2X increase in the market cap when compared to the former.

Many bitcoin holders would start selling their btcs as $1000 is a very fair price.
It may result in a small fall in bitcoin price.
But i hope it will only last for a  small period due to some geo political reasons as demonitisation of high value notes in india and other reasons.
Bitcoin users have increased considerably and so there is a huge demand for bitcoins.
So expecting bitcoin price to faal back to $700 will remain only a dream.

Surely. But scale up and look closely at how the previous four rallies unfolded. Even adjusted for the factor of a much more massive market cap now, it just means there'll be much larger players this time, but dynamics could be the same. It will explode at one point this month, how far up is anyone's guess.

Right now there already is a shortage of actual coins. Breaking an ATH will bring press attention and with it, money, into an empty ASKs wall. Happens every time.

We are ay $1000. We can stay a while before pushing on, but... Bitcoin is traded in many other currencies and they probably care little about $1000. I think we should be around $2000 at the moment, so I expect us to push on to $2750 over the next few months. I would not be selling any Bitcoin until $2200+ and that would only be to catch a fall.

Im pretty sure very few will be selling this cheap. If we get lightning I anticipate $25,000+ coins within 18 months.

Apparently, the answer is $990... so far.

Let's see what happens when the USD ATH is broken.

At the moment $1000 seems to be the new support level, but it's only been a couple of days.

Anything could happen.

I just don't know who would be buying at these prices.

I remember how people were making threads that looked exactly like this when we hit $500 back in the day. "Once we hit $500, how far will BTC drop?"

Little did they knew, that bitcoin wouldn't even take a rest after $1000. People think that round nice numbers like 500 and 1000 always mean a correction incoming, that's when a lot of people lose tons of money, they try to short and the leverage makes them go broke, it's a sad story, but also a reminder: you can never be sure that bitcoin will take a rest even if you think it makes sense. Same goes for the next ATH. People will short at about 1200, and we may see a further rise, making all the shorters go poor overnight.

Well, it just happened... BTC is now $1000USD... up or down from here?

My guess and it is only a guess is that it'll bounce above and below for a number of days/ weeks.

Yep, down to $950 & back to over $1000, back, to & fro for a few weeks. I just hope the next significant move is upwards.

That might happen.

So far BTC drop at around $980+, but it easily recovered.  I think $1000 is a temporary new floor for Bitcoin.  There had been  lots of noises about bitcoins that catches lots of peoples attention.  So i guess, if we expecting people to cash out, fresh money from new people will catch it.  That is the reason why we are still at $1000 + atm.

Things like bitcoin price is not quite predictable as proven time and time, there is no drop as many would expect because if it was that easy we wouldn't be here at all. but one thing is for sure that is miners will always sell their mined coins or at least portions of them no matter what the price is as long as they can earn a profit.
Only drop we'll see in future will be slow as snail running :D  bitcoin has many more surprises yet to reveal but one can never lose buying and holding bitcoin at any price.

Not always. Those who still mine because of free electricity would probably hold onto their mined coins.

Anyone enough into Bitcoin to still be mining would probably prefer their profits in bitcoins instead of fiat currencies.

Whoever thinks bitcoin is a mature (trading) market is mistaken: 16 billion Euro's is what the ECB creates every WEEK out of thin air.
1,000$ is nothing. If the big boys (billion dollar investment companies) start to trade things will change overnight. Maybe some of them are already doing this on a small enough scale to not upset the market too much.
Anyway for the 'old' bitcoin whales, I'm sure that they are releasing their coins slowly as they did before. There is no reason what so ever to sell all of their stack at once. Not even at 5,000 not even at 10,000. Those people are probably highly educated, have good jobs and it would mean too little for them to cash even a few million $

Never say never when it comes to Bitcoin. At the time we reached the ATH literally no one ever expected to see the price fall far below the $200 level again. It's a drop of more than $1000 that we have experienced. It doesn't mean exactly that will happen once again, but it just shows that there isn't any level that the price won't dive under. It will happen. The only question is when.

We will not know the exact time but we can relay in the last year that honestly there is similarity of movement not the value but the fluctuate movement there is similarity and i think we will experience of price drop this coming next month or before february this is just what i analyze from the last year movement.. well the bitcoins before and how its popular is not the same right now and maybe right now will be different..

With such a huge increase in a short period of time, it makes sense that we will have some kind of correction. We just don't know when or how much. I don't think we can have such a sharp increase without a drop.

I guess we may see a test of $700 support, before returning to any rise. This was already quite a nice bubble we saw, and now we need to check the real market price, before the uptrend resumes.

Beyond the technical aspect of the bitcoin price analysis, we should also take into account the various problems  that the bitcoin ecosystem is currently facing before making our predictions regarding the potential drop of bitcoin, which, if not resolved, could lead to this economic project to failure, and that would obviously mean a gradual collapse of such a magnitude that we can not yet predict.

If I am completely honest, then currently a price just over the $700 level is what I consider to be a fair reflection of the how the situation right now is. If Segwit finally gets activated, then it will add another $100-$150 to the price. But nowadays the price increases in advance of the happening. If I look at it from that point, then the current price isn't that bad either. Right now there is a 50% chance to go up, and 50% chance to go down. We'll see what happens in the coming days.

Yes and now the price is around 890$ and I am a bit upset and I always thought that the price would go in up direction only. Anyways hoping the price soon reaches 1000$ at least :)

Lol, why being upset?  it is normal for bitcoin to go up and down.  If you watch its movement from the start it alwas goes up and down along the way.  The higher the ups the deeper it goes down.  So i always prefer a slowly uptrend of bitcoin price to at least avoid this kind of scenario,  Bubbles always burst.  I hope that the burst won't be that huge making Bitcoin price goes down to sub $500.

and that's what makes you upset, you've been expecting that the price value of bitcoin will only go higher and it seems you didn't think about the other thing that could be possible to happen especially the price these past few days this is what we call risks because we don't even know what will happen after a while . well all of us are hoping that sometime soon bitcoin will hit $1000 again .

So it would appear $750 was the answer. I sense $700 isn't too far away though, before the bounce back up towards $850/900.

The question is: after $1000, just how far do you think BTC will drop back? Could we see the days of $500 from August again, or are we stable above $800-900?

It seems it is, so far.  I am looking at bitstamp and seems there is not much of resistance going to $800.  But well of course buyers wants to buy at the cheapest.  Aside from that if whales decided to crash the market further, they can make it down to sub $700.  Let us wait for a bit, depend on what comes next in the press, will decide the next movement of bitcoin.

So we can now thank Chinese for centralized mining farms and intense price roller-coaster from time to time.
What is more surprising for me is that Chinese investors are so scared of Forex management and AML policies being checked out by central bank, that they liquidating their holdings.

What are they really afraid of?

It is really important question, and now bitcoin has been crossed $1000 and also start to drop down, now it is proof that bitcoin has been reached at $773. Its mean bitcoin continuously going to back, and in my view, might be possible bitcoin would be come at $600 to $500, if this price continuously come down. But it is only my speculation, may be in future, suddenly bitcoin give us some good news more.

To my mind it won't come under 650$, I think this time it's price won't be so changable like it was this summer after bitfinex hack. Also now there are many factors to think like that, mining won't be profitable with low prices which automatically means price rise because more and more people are interested in bitcoin and many famouse companies like starbucks and etc are adding bitcoin as a new payment system, so while number or bitcoin customers are growing, it means more use of bitcoin, if there aren't so many bitcoins, this means price rise up.

Same here its impossible that the price will touch again to $650. i believe that the price can stay in 800 level and will increase this coming april or may.. this is just my own speculation and i think the price can stay long more in 800 level.
We are seen that the price was decrease right i think it is just because of panic sell just like old happen before..

Don't take for granted that we'll not see the price dive below the $700-$600 levels. Mainly because of the fact that the manipulators have this market under control. If you look at how easy people panic sell at very weak and misunderstood news articles, then how will it be when a major Chinese exchange gets hacked? Oh wait.... Everything comes from these Chinese exchanges and the people they supply with insider information....

Don't kid yourself it can hit anywhere from now on. We saw the all time high since 2013 and many profit sales have been made. Those guys who waited all those time who bought from 1000$+ also probably dumped their position. Since waiting for 3+ years just to being able to get out break even ain't fun. We may not see 200's again but 400's is possible to me. 500 is more than possible. Now everybody knows if bitcoin goes as low as 200$, it means free money. Because sooner or later it will jump back to 1000$ again. That goes same for the 500 and 400 and 300 and so on. I think i would jump on the train if it ever hits to 500's again but not with all my wealth. If we ever see 400's? I'll double the investment amount.

There is no such falling range with bitcoin, everytime depending upon the market movement around the world as well upon the countries holding higher bitcoin users the variation will be experienced. This time too big increase was felt and due to some exchange service issue in China the price fell to greater level than expected.

That is right. It depends on the actual usage.
