Between the sig campaign spam and the idiots I just want to leave and never come back. It's really disappointing

It's really not that bad. You can turn off signatures in your settings. And if there were no idiots, no one would have time to talk on the forum.

I don't hate the forum, but I do hate the things that you mentioned.

If you really want to leave you'd best start now.

There's like 2 options what to do about it.
#1 is trying to change something, #2 is just leaving and be done with it.
Yet another thread about the problems this forum is facing won't help anything.

It's not the signatures themselves, it's the mindless drivel that is posted because of a post-count driven system. I'm aware of DannyHamilton's list and it's great, but god damn this forum has gone to shit.

You are just a newbie so that means you have not explore the forum yet, you might be saying senseless observation here. The job of the moderators are not to tolerate the spam so I'm telling you, you should give a second chance.

The weirdest part is that a lot of people who signature campaign tag will take use of this opportunity to make a new post. For example, me.

It is not that bad because as time goes on, you will slowly learn to ignore signature tags on the forums. In the past, I looked at signature advertisement, clicked them, joined the sites and all things. However, I slowly developed a habit to ignore signature campaign once I am a mid Senior Member.

If you want to quit this forums, it is not that bad since you only have 5 posts - unless of course you are using an Alt.

I remember seeing a thread somewhere that list out all the users with signature campaign tag. You can copy and paste it into your ignore list.

He/she is not a newbie, but rather a Alt account used to say something that he/she would not say with their original account. This way he/she can complain without having people flaming the main account. OP, you have a valid point and people like Lauda and DannyHamilton has started doing something about it.

The signature campaigns are being cleaned up and signature campaigns actually serve a much bigger role than most people might think.

~ Generating income for people to spend, thus stimulating the Bitcoin eco system
~ Spreading wealth
~ Job creation < micro payments >
~ Increasing adoption
~ Marketing the forum for advertisers < income for the forum > Increased traffic draw more advertisers

Better don't waste your time in forum, here many users like the way how signatures are being run by the legit escrow who will pay on time as newbie you need to learn rules and regulation before joining into the forum. Signature campaign is different type of advertising in forum by posting no one know only few people will know about the posting to overcome that signatures campaign have started. The best part of advertising your website, casino etc is only through signatures only.

Though there are many idiots in this forum and there are many spammers but that is very normal in a community. Let us just accept that there are no perfect people, no perfect religion and no perfect forums. Different kinds of people and in this thread and that makes it more exciting and enjoyable. They maybe idiots or something, maybe I am one of them, but we make this forum active and exciting.

You will find many more idiots outside this forum than in this forum. Alteast these guys know what money is and know to properly spend / invest.

The other forums are made up of real idiots who are so dumb that they dont even know how money works.

Go to a cash/money forum and these people will constantly complain about shitty payment processors. We dont have this problem here.

if you want to leave, then you can leave from here, no one will push you to stay in this forum. its not because of signature campaign but its about you. i hope you will be understand and never judge other people for what their doing.

I think you should leave no I am not saying cause you are saying against signature campaigners, but with barely 5 posts you have decided that signature campaigners are spamming, if you are not aware let me tell you this forum is very active and equally strict. They do not allow spam and lets say someone does that person is reported to the campaign manager and he is chucked out of the campaign , oh by the way not all posts are paid for, only if the post is constructive then only it's paid. One more point which I also had asked, you often will see people wearing signature but THEY ARE NOT PART OF THE CAMPAIGN, they just wear it. So if you understand the point, stay learn from this forum, you want to crib leave.

You can discuss with anyone, there are people enough here to talk with. I just ignore these Newbie spammers, and I think that's the best thing you can do too. Perfect people and perfect religion don't have to do with their need to spam the forum - they're probably either in an urgent need of money or heard about Bitcoin's insane fast increase and want to get some before it goes even higher.

If you really hate something never bother to comment about it either and i am not sure how a newbie account holder is fed up with the things that is happened here and if you are too much concerned about the advertisements you can simply block those.

Let's take the things from start. If this forum has idiots members then why did you join in?  Has you ever think about it? Before register this forum did you spend some time to read a few of the posts? If you bothered by the signature campaigns why not to turn off as BitcoinBarrel proposed?

OP, this forum mirrors the typical internet society, just like any other forum. There are trolls, people who post drunk or on drugs, antisocial basement dwellers... and there are those who want to help and explain stuff to others. You can find a lot of useful advice on this forum, so don't be discouraged. You just have to learn to weed out and ignore.

No, it's not like you thought. I still depend on it for learning bitcoin or trading and I can get more earnings from this forum.

Similar to here. Bitcointalk has a board specifically for posting scam ponzi websites (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=207.0).

This likely applies to a large portion of the signature spammers here. They clearly show disregard for the forum its self, so it wouldn't surprise me if they felt the same way about Bitcoin.

This is the same here. Providing you don't make too much of a mess the mods don't involve themselves if a user is scamming or if a dispute is going on (bar personal reasons).

Yes,I have to agree on it.Apart from stackoverflow forums,I've not came across such well organized mods elsewhere.Take HF for example,the mods are too quick in calling you a rookie and give negative points if your opinion differs from theirs.While on bitcointalk,after banning a user the moment he creates a new thread asking  why were they banned,hilariousandco genuinely writes a lengthy message tolerating the trolls.

Negative trust has nothing to do with moderation. While better in many cases, the forum policy could be stricter with some other things (e.g. ponzi's, signature spam).

Bitcointalk gives its users quite a lot of (underappreciated) freedom. A fine example of a 'negative side effect' are people who claim that participating in a signature campaign is a 'right' not a 'privilege'.

Yes I understand we are on the Internet. But I think it's a special group of people that Bitcoin attracts because they think it's some get rich quick scheme and not just money... Thousands of posts on how do I make x btc per day; the answer is get a fucking job then buy Bitcoin.

What you say is correct, but many did not know of bitcoin before the massive increase in price. The people who are treating it like a quick scheme were definitely not those early adopters. You are actually practising a skill as a programmer, Bitcoin and bitcoin forums are just additional ways for you to capitalize on a a real job. "A freelance programmer working from home for btc" is included in my categorization of "a real job" as Bitcoin is only a payment method in your case.

I don't think its that bad. You can take off the signature's if it bothers that much to you. There are some old folks who come here just to teach or learn some things. :)

Well i would like to explain why is their spammer's in this forum its because people here don't really have the time to post so they spam from it and as for me i really noticed that some of them are like a  child i am not being judge mental but i am just stating the fact that i really notice it and further more people in this forum has isn't afraid to get ban or get a warning really i think we need to put a age limit in this forum so that the young age can't register in this forum does who are not experienced but for me we really need to help the spammer's or to avoid them i am same with you but really its a big impact to me and i just ignore it :D so please ignore the spammer's and just chill your mind ^_^

well, internet full of varied people isn't it?. just offering my opinion, well at some parts.. i do agree with you, those spammers are only make this website full of lies, but atleast .. there are still a lot of knowledges appear on this forum .. neither it appears on thread or discussion between members . campaign forces people to deliver something useful to others, which is ?? .. really good ofcourse. althought their action are not fully original by their willingness .. but atleast the content they made is have to be useful.

I find the forum useful and was posting before i knew about any sig campaigns.  Maybe its not what it was though idk, things change.

the signature campaign for me is ok as beginners not allowed enrolled.

Forum is suppose to be compose of people talking about something. Like here it is primary bitcoin and more. If no one will post here it will just become one of those forum that dies after what? A year or two or maybe less.

Just think about this. Why is it that other forum sites are paying up here just to post some comments in their own forum websites? Without people it will be nothing.

Even wikipedia needs people to edit or update their own websites. But let us not make this forum become just another wikipedia for bitcoin where we would just get information and no more talking.

I guess when we are all starting here then we are also new in exploring the bitcoin i myself to be considered as one of those idiots

OP I don't blame you.  I didn't come to this forum to earn money, I just ended up in a campaign after posting here for quite a while.   But people DO come here just for these campaigns and end up writing a bunch of bullshit.  And accounts get sold to these idiots, which encourages farming, and the farmers don't make constructive posts...so it's a huge shitfuck all around.

Well, hiding sigs is not a good solution anymore I see. This PureVidz shit campaign is now at the end of each post, not in the actual sig. Kinda hoping all posts with the campaign will be deleted for off-topic content..

Theymos indeed won't do anything, that's why we can only be supportive to those that fight spam and account sales by tagging accounts with a neutral comment on their trust pages.

It's pointless to continuously complain here in the meta section. Community needs to do it within their own capabilities, and that's exactly what's happening.

Props to Lauda and other SMAS managers for this great initiative. Also don't forget the efforts of Rizzlarolla for providing huge lists of farmed accounts. All this has resulted in a better overall forum experience.

This forum is perfect the way it is. I would not change a thing. If you don't like it then go to another forum where you're moderated and controlled like the bitches you are. Alternatively, you can grow a spine and shrug the trolls off. After all, they are just words.

Can confirm that; most of the people I've tagged for posting useless garbage have stopped posting entirely once they were out of the signature campaign.
It isn't all bad (with the activeness of the forum and the bitcoin eco-system and what not), but the negatives do outweigh the positives in these cases, at least for me.

If my memory is correct I've read somewhere that this forum once had restrictions for new members - they could only post in a certain area. That might be a good thing to reconsider.

Apart from that, improving the quality of this board would be very easy if moderators would more frequently ban users that obviously engage in account farming or who only post unreadable garbage.

But I would not ban signature campaigns. I think if abuse is controlled, these are a good way to distribute small amounts of BTC to the crowd and thereby stimulate economic activity.

You are so cynical, without bitcoin signature campaign, bitcoin can't be so huge like today, signature campaigns help bitcoin websites, bitcoin related companies and the forum itself, you are obviously a naive boy, thinking without brain.

It's still a good place to pop by and read every now and then but I do agree there's a lot of garbage to dig through. Luckily mining and tech support are beyond the grasp of signature spammers so when you have a technical questions they don't show up trying to explain in broken English why your transaction won't confirm.

This forum is easy to manage, you confine yourself to two or three boards, and ignore most threads with over 100 replies (unless it's a good tech discussion ). That way you can leave all the sig whores to play in the brothels. :)
