Guys , can someone tell me what is happening with Bitcoin ? In only 2 hours his price dropped over 10% . Now his price is 880$. What should i do? Sell my bitcoins or buy more?

I really do not believe. is like a nightmare. bitcoin prices are currently very fall. I do not know no matter what caused the bitcoin prices had fallen dramatically. many people are disappointed with the current bitcoin price movement. a reduction of almost amounted to 200USD within a few hours.

WE have to understand that bitcoin is also a currency. It is prone to fluctuation of value and also can go nose dive what we are seeing today. If you believe that you made enough profit on bitcoin you can sell it or keep it if you want to gamble it.

many people who do sell. they look panic sell because bitcoin see a price drop so fast. I think it will increase again over the next few hours. we must continue to look at the movement of bitcoin prices in order not to suffer from the impact of existing.

I agree with you less than an hour 20% dip is really scary but now seeing again the price of bitcoin is climbing up again and now $960+ mark on preev.com which tries to recover up and dont know any ideas why is this happening and its seems there are people who manipulates the price.

Well what did you expect to happen... a correction like this was perfectly possible. I don't understand why people get into bitcoin without being ready to take big hits. It's like getting into boxing thinking it's going to feel great kicking ass but then you get punched in the face and start crying. Getting hit is a part of the game and we took a hit, what matters is if you continue fighting, and bitcoin is showing excellent strength, we are already back to 976 and climbing. All the panic sellers that sold at 800 are now having second thoughts.

This is something that's expected with the bitcoin price. During the past too the same happened, but didn't rise to such big number. Now the same has taken place. The increase and decrease in price is upon its nature, steep fluctuation happens during year end or by start. The next pumping can be expected by mid 2017, till that can expect gradual increase.

keep calm, you should control emotions, i think Bitcoin down because it is campaign of investors, they want to buy bitcoin with price cheap, and then they pump, sell bitcoin with price expensive

This certainly is a risk. but still, each person must have a sense of regret. they sometimes get emotional high pressure. it is a natural thing, we lost a lot of money and can not make a profit.  :'(

People why such surprised, btc were being traded at 850 last year from no reason it went into 900 and achieved 1000 dollars, this years it went to 1100 dollars, but well for sure some whale is having fun, the panic is created and bitcoin should stand at 1000 dollars after all dumps and pumps happen.

At the same time it all depends on your attitude to risk whether to buy more, or to sell now. You want to know what happened with BTC price? The usual. Someone wanted to make money. Earlier today there were huge coin dump on Huobi.
This massive sell order shifted whole market, for the whole day traders were bit by bit buying that huge chunk of coins.

Experience is the best teacher and it seems to me the recent price drop we are currently experiencing might be a result of a huge panic selling which is pulling the price down but with time just hope we recover.

Well the price was just stabilizing. It went up way to fast. I think it will hover around the 950-1000 for a week or 2 and then it will slowly rise again. The drop was just a correction. Don't know why people directly start panicking.

This all panic was from the new buyers who have bought bitcoin in 1k+ range and some short time traders who took profit in afraid of dump but the long term buyers bought on this dip and they knew that the bitcoin will reach new high price record in some days.

if you just buy bitcoin in under $880 then you can sell it now and take the profit while the profit is not much depend on the price $1100 but i hope you don't go with the panic people in the market because i see this in the market and the price is down to deep. but if you have more money, then i think you can prepare to buy bitcoin so you have more bitcoin in your wallet and you can ready for waiting the increasing price.

If you want to sell bitcoin I think not now, because prices are drop. Maybe if yesterday you sell bitcoin when prices rise and remain high it was the right time. But in my opinion it is better to hold until are under the price after the buy bitcoin, it was the best time to buy bitcoin because if the price is below and you hold until prices rise above and you sell it certainly will get big profit. Until now bitcoin prices continue to drop, it is better to wait for the right time to buy.

I have just saw on YoBit that the price fell down to 900$. And I wanted to check how much it is in RUB (my currency) and suddenly pressed the button "SELL". What an idiot! :'(

We will be at 700 range by tommorow. Just keep cool and buy back when the price is at the lowest might be 550-600 range

bitcoin is like any forex. only trade if you have experience trading bitcoin or other fx.  you can win big but also lose big.

if you've no experience trading fx, follow the advice in the mainstream media and just invest a tiny amount of your personal wealth (like 2-3% i think is the official advice). do not take any leverage. buy and hold. only put a very small amount of your money into it.

if you ignore this advice then you will find out eventually after much hard experience that it is in fact right

About 700$ ... Another big dumps in a short time sounds a bit impossibile... really crazy a 500-600$ value, despite the negative consensus. Sounds a bit strange a big crash after the price was near to touch the maximum value ever!

This might be an opportunity to buy more btc before it will rally again to go up. Some whales want the price to drop and buy a lot of btc and sell them again at high price.

I don't know anything about trading but down to 700$ seems unlikely, the lowest it got today was 871, when yesterday went to 851, it seems to be somehow holding. But idk  ::)

Don't drink too much coffee, its  bad for you, don't watch the price too much too, it could give you mini heart attacks...  :) Just relax, this isn't the right time to sell if you are going to stay long with bitcoin and wait for another more price rise, but if you are in need, sell it now, if you could use the money in other form that could help you in your life... Definitely buy more. You must remember that only two-three months ago the value of bitcoin was about 450-500 us dollar. In this moment is above 900 us dollar. So is double. Tell me one currency or investment with such increase of value within this short time.

The price right now honestly is increasing back and i think the price will increase back abouve $1k value and the price drop this few hours ago is just a normal price drop that already happen by last year the movement of the price is just like the last year movement that after new year the price was drop.. but if the price will increase back above $1k value and i think this is a new movement of the price..

Yes now it is the right time to buy bitcoin because soon it will jump 1000$. As right now many people start buying at 880$, after new year this is the lowest value that has fallen below 900$. It's better for the people who want to buy bitcoin and definitely they will make profit when it reaches to 1000$.

In the last year Bitcoin has caught the eye of Investment Fund Managers. Recently the Chinese were buying in as their Yuan was going down. India has also recently been attracted to Bitcoin helping increase its demand. Indonesia is the latest as this crypto currency is getting deeper and deeper into the rest of the worlds fiat financially structured norm. Of course bitcoin was already steaming ahead these just acted as a currency catalyst. 

The very day the Yuan gained strength the wind was let out of the sail and Fund managers with millions invested took profits accounting for the fast large drops. So Bitcoin has become an Equity for investment purposes now. No longer a speculative curiosity. The good news is even though it just took a hit it is going to move along again full steam ahead  with many more Investors around the world seeing its long term potential.

This is all just my opinion from what I have observed the last few years and my experience in the markets.

All you guys that stayed with this and became miners, enthusiast and or physical bitcion creators/artist should be commended for your efforts not to mention its creator (Satoshi)

I'd relax. There was no way the price could keep going up and up without some sort of crash back to a more realistic valuation. A crash was inevitable due to the meteoric rise of bitcoin's value. Just hold tight and the value of bitcoin will likely return to $1100 or go higher this year.

It is dropping as i post this, i wil catch it around 550--600 range. Buying now is not safe.

Damn it keeps dropping. I had 850 as absolute bottom but its also broke that. But the way to 700 is very long and i dont think/hope it will get there. They way up is a lot easier.

Oh well I still believe in bitcoins and I won't sell it anyway. I hope that the price is going to increase again. Maybe the whales are fooling us and wants us to sell what we've got so that they have now the total control and manipulation to buy at lower price and then when it happens, buying bulk again are going to make the price rise. Its like a game like bustabit where you have to cashout at right time or you might loose :) but the only positive is that you will again get a chance because price hikes every now and then and that's why holding btc is the best choice.

It will stop for sure, because the chinese new year is coming soon and i'm sure the price will increase again like on Christmas. I think the price will dropping slowly or stable until  the next 2 weeks and after that it will increase again.

I agree with you, guy. The bitcoin decrease is only temporary after investors sold bitcoin to take profit. The price is under 900$ but it's quite stable and no panic when the price is down. This is a good chance for who haven't owned bitcoin yet.

So a couple reasons the price drops fast.

1. a whale just hit his minimum sale value and is cashing out
2. people are panicking
3. other reasons...

Also with all the Chinese new year influence and the large market share they have...expect to see all sorts of movement for the next couple weeks. Possibly a new high, or even a return to an old low...nobody knows because it's really just speculation.

It's easy to dream and easier to panic but the only thing that I can truly tell you...is that if you sell your bitcoins now, you'll regret it once they hit 10k, and probably a lot sooner...like at 2k or even 1.3k.

I for one know that the only way to guarantee your income is to wait...yup that's right. Put your long term storage in a cold wallet and think of it as your retirement fund...not something you plan to feed yourself with next week.

Bitcoin for the 99th percentile should be a long term investment strategy(buy low sell high), if you are a skilled trader then you don't need my advice...

In my own oppinion holders or investors nor companies who uses bitcoin as their currency they panic seeling of their bitcoins that's why the price of bitcoin really droped from 1200$ to this rate of bitcoin nowaday this is the big advantage for me if you people start buying bitcoin while it chip it will ruse agaib.

So sell your bitcoin if you seen that the price was touch in high price.. in my own  was selling partial of my saving bitcoin if the price is high and if the price will continues to increase i can be still sell some so that if the price was crash i will use sold bitcoin to buy bitcoins again..

I think whales are going to keep playing this game. They will keep pumping to $900+, then make it dip again to 800$ or even high $700, and keep shaking weak hands until people decide to hold beyond $900 which will trigger the next big bubble up to $2000+. Of course most people will have sold by then on the numerous fake pumps, and then the winners will be (as always) whales and long term holders.

Please dont share misconception. It wont reach 10k like tomorrow, so they wont miss out if they will sell now. Whats the problem with selling out for you hodlers? The only problem I see is buying 20% higher at worst. And the risk of holding can be drastic as well as with everything.

There was no panic actualy. All happened too fast for people to react. All it was was massive longs squize. A lots of hype with manipulation to disable a correction liquidity check made some chineese gamblers red with greed. They played with money they dont have. Nothing else. It was all like darwin award contest for the biggest loser. Gamblers have lost the most here. Now the chineese gov is pissed at bitcoin because of that. That is resulting in not allowing the price to recover.

The purpose here is this bitcoin is always going to be fluctuating right now. At the target of the whales, this is when the purchasing power is lowered when the bitcoin can fall down further below.

I do not think it's time to get out of the way, but if there's a little more drop in, I can eat a pump right into the month of February and I think it's worth waiting for it to rise again.

This is a speculation thread? Everything here is speculation/opinion, plenty of people blatantly pumping for higher or lower price spreading thoughts and ideas that may or may not ever come into fruition.

When it hit $.02 I knew it would hit $1
When it hit $1 I knew it would hit $100.
When it hit $100, I knew it would hit $1000.
When it hit $1000 I remembered what bitcoin's purpose was and I'll collect and hold until it facilitates my retirement.

Never once did I state that the price would jump 10x overnight...that's just silly. We don't have the infrastructure for that sort of rapid change.

That is exactly how market works ,if you really cannot get out at the right time you wont profit that much and with the recent spike in price it is expected that the price would come down but the exact time when that would hit is a really difficult one to predict but this price drop was expected.

No, winners will not only be big whales. Why not You and Me? When we know what big whales strategy is, we should not sell out coins on dump of 800$ or 700$ and sell at over 1500$ to 1800$. So if everyone follow this, no one will lose.

Are you sure the actions against Chinese exchanges that have been put in place by PBOC aren't influencing you into thinking that the price will go down? I am sure it is. I actually expected that bitcoin is going to drop its price. Because bitcoin has been like that for so many times at its existence in this world. If you are already old enough to use bitcoin, you know how its charts goes up and down suddenly after its rapid price increase. But on what is happening today with it, that's quite a relieved.

Yea bitcoin price is goin down and we will need to buy some coins now when bitcoin come to final low price and then sell later when it raise a lot and with that strategy we will be able to get a really nice profit with our traded bitcoins.

Price right now seems a bit stable without major variations. This might go up than down as the China's New Year is getting closer. Due to this we can experience increase in circulation and larger transactions. May be due to the inspection by the PBOC on exchanges the increase takes place quite normal than steep changes.

The price of bitcoin drops and rises every minute and it is okay to have 10% difference in price within the day, because nothing regulates bitcoin from the outside like government or some companies. In fact, I believe these fluctuations actually provide bitcoin with a specific stability, because it doesn't resist the changes but eventually goes back to some normal state which is also changing. It is just like in ecology some systems sustain stability with resistance and others are flexible and actually flexibility is stronger than resistance.

Btc is something you can't handle easily. As many said before here, buy low sell high. It's not always a good move tho. You have to think the goods and the bads of your choices, and then do the right thing.

Well said. Circuit breakers might do good to the value of certain stocks and protect investors, but it is an aberration from true free markets.
Bitcoin might fluctuate widely, but it does find its true value quickly.

I think the big whale no more can affect the price of bitcoin. In fact that bitcoin users are now increasing from time to time and it becoming difficult for a specific group of people to manipulate the price of bitcoin, which was very much possible in past, even a single person was able to affect the price of bitcoin.

Pretty sure whales got a lot to do with this month's dump, and since the amount of daily transactions and market cap of bitcoin hasn't changed that much in a month I can tell whales still got the power to manipulate the price, as long as bitcoin grows their power will decrease of course.

That is always the question, and we have no way to know where the bottom is, but I think the price seems to high to buy a the moment we need to wait a little bit more before buying.

Coming for a few months later the answer was clearly buy more because your money would have doubled in only 4 months.

Headline made my poor heart skip. About to log into my poloniex account for confirmation when I remember I missed post date. What a big relief

Oh lordy...I remember back when bitcoin was under 10,000.

Those were the days.

When Bitcoin is priced in the $15,000 range, even those days will still have continuous drop periods.....the drop cycles is when smart money comes in to accumulate more assets (be it real estate, gold, bitcoin, or stocks).

That is right. I also think the time now is good to accumulate the bitcoin. The price is low because of the fear of fork.   

Why these speculation threads have been bumped? seeing its almost 6 months old as of now and they are talking different price point already since we are already on the new price range which we can see that the price have risen up already since January of this year. But well its not really bad after all to see those conversations while the price is still low. For now on our situation price of bitcoin is on 2700 as the time i speak which is really high.
