Title: Marketplaces in your country/region that accept Bitcoin?
Post by: Abiky on January 10, 2017, 11:15:07 AM
Even if Bitcoin is progressing in value uptrend, and development, it lacks of a wide array of local merchants that accept it.

In the US, I have seen several local shops that accept BTC, but it is a very minimal amount when compared to other stores that mostly accept fiat and/or credit cards like Visa.

That is why I wonder, why BTC hasn't been greatly adopted by local merchants and retailers worldwide, as it would have a positive effect towards mainstream adoption of it and other digital currencies.

Nevertheless, I would like to know if there are local shops around your region or area that would accept BTC.  ;D

As of now there is no marketplace in my country that is accepting bitcoins. But there are only people here who are ready to accept bitcoin.

Only if they are going to sell their products individually, but the whole economy of bitcoin here is hidden and we don't even know who are the ones that are bitcoin user.

Because each of the users here are completely hiding their identities but most of us are just using the same bitcoin exchange.

In the Philippines there are no local shops that accepts bitcoin. But online merchants floods the social media selling products and other services in exchange for bitcoin. Filipinos really treats bitcoin as money online seriously and it is well accepted, you can buy shoes, cellphones, beauty products, mobile load, electrical products and many more. Though there are no big stores accepting bitcoin but bitcoin business network is very big online.

We can really see the difference of bitcoin and those traditional ways (fiat, cards etc) since bitcoin is just on its earlier years and as expected not all merchants do accept bitcoin on their businesses and some of countries already ban bitcoin to enter on their country adoption is really lessen.Merchants do really hesitate when it comes to stable value and they dont want to lose money because of bitcoin.

in my country people barely know about bitcoin, let alone accept it as payment in their shop or services.
however recently I have been seeing some increases in the bitcoin awareness and it seems like most of it is because of the price rise but in general people are only trading and investing in bitcoin in my country , and nothing more.

It is because bitcoin is rising in value that people arn't spending it, they are hoarding it. So merchants add bitcoin, nobody uses it, and they disable it.

IMO it will be an alt that will get used as currency, not bitcoin.

Around me - no BTC accepted.
People prefer cash, many stores are accepting no CC.
If You need to buy something - thake Euro of 5-10-20 notes.
With 50 or 100 You probably will have problems to become the change.

In my country for the offline store that accepts bitcoin was only a few and only in the big cities. Lucky for me there are still some online stores that accept bitcoin, and if only for the purchase of electric or phone toll we can buy easily online. Moreover, my country has exchangers which of course is the national language. This course allows us to purchase bitcoin, and there are few market altcoin. Thank you

Except for two coffee shops near my house, not even a single store accepts bitcoin here, not to mention bigger marketplaces. And these two cafe shops, they aren't those giant nor easily recognisable shops. I only know them when my eyes accidentally caught the small bitcoin signs hanging beneath others glowing banners. And that's why people here don't know about those shops as well as bitcoin. I hope this will somehow change in the near future.

I think https://coinmap.org is place where any enterprenuer startup can register there services to get listed on Coinmap and published.

Coinmap is portal where anyone can find region or location with offering services with Bitcoin Payments. You can even find required service which have been offered with BTC. Also you will stumble with https://coinmap.org Dont miss to check your regions with offering services.

In many countries governments do not acknowledge Bitcoin as a currency, and the merchants work through payment processors to convert

the bitcoins to fiat, before it reach them. So you have to work through these payment processors to reach some of these merchants. The

exchange I use, negotiated deals with some merchants to accepts Bitcoin and they get the fees derived from these transactions. I hardly see

anyone accepting Bitcoin directly these days.  ::)

Most of the local shops in my area of residence don't accept bitcoin yet,but there are a few big online stores from my country which accept it so that is pretty neat.

I hope other businesses will follow the example and enter the world of crypto-currency. Many entrepreneurs can't see it but bitcoin is a great way to gain exposure as I said there not many who adopted it.  ;)

It is unfortunate friend, the porn banned in my country and could be considered illegal. For example, some well-known adult sites have been blocked by the largest Internet network provider in our country. hehe

This is the wrong way to think about Bitcoin. It should not be limited to only "local". Bitcoin is a censorship resistant currency that is not controled by a centralized entity that can move value and cross borders over the internet. So if you see BTC is accepted in a "local" shop and think it is a big plus, it is really not. Those shops are better off accepting fiat. A big plus for Bitcoin are growing markets outside government regulation.

There use to be when the bitcoin price was above $1000 per coin like it is now but over the past 3 years they all the sudden vanished. I think they didn't see it sustainable with it being under that amount per coin. But now that the price is back to that level (well almost) I would assume that they will return and continue where they left off some many years ago. Since they see it as profitable again.

I think it's mostly online commerce websites. Not many "cash register" type transactions yet. Once someone comes out with a debit card that withdraws the $USD equivalent of bitcoin from a bitcoin wallet, you'll see more I'm sure.

Agree. In the online world, we can find a wide array of merchants and stores that accept Bitcoin. However, when it comes to physical stores that would accept it, then there is a very minimal amount of merchants supporting the digital currency.

Still, it would be interesting to see Bitcoin accepted at major shops and retailers worldwide, such as Walmart, Sears, Big Lots and others. I think that when that day comes, Bitcoin would've already implemented scalable solutions that would be able to handle more transaction load from customers within the ecosystem.

Nevertheless, I hope that more local merchants would accept BTC in the US, as well as any other country in the world.  :)

I think it is still a milestone for Bitcoin!
My country, India is on the trend to become cashless after demonetization. As an impact of which, many payment gateway and wallets (ex. Paytm) becoming famous and being accepted by around 80-85% merchants. But if we talk about Bitcoin, hardly 1-2%.
Main reason: It is difficult to exchange Bitcoin and its volatility.

Over here, from length and breadth of this country, I have not seem or heard of any store where bitcoin is accepted. This is largely due to the fact that those of us into is kind of coded about it and business that will accept it means they will start valuing their goods in dollar in which dollar itself is not our own official currency... But will time, I see all this encumberances being straightened out...

I think they didn't see it sustainable with it being under that amount per coin. But now that the price is back to that level (well almost) I would assume that they will return and continue where they left off some many years ago. Since they see it as profitable again.

If Bitcoin crashes back below $1000 like it did this week then they must pull out again? Is that what you are trying to tell us? That is stupid. Shops will accept it if they see that it is good for their business. But it is really not. One reason is because most of the Bitcoiners have only a small amount of Bitcoins in their wallet to spend. We are all poor!

Only one exchange exist here in where I live, but it works well, cashing out and cashing in... But those works only for online transactions, I haven't seen anyone that do a buy and sell or a buyer talking about paying bitcoin to a merchant, many uses their cash or card in most real life purchases... I am waiting for the time too when I can use bitcoin in real life, it would be amazing for sure...

Coins.ph now offer virtual card that can be connected to paypal... I inquired but I haven't tried it yet, but for sure, it will be a good progress...  :)

Nevertheless, I would like to know if there are local shops around your region or area that would accept BTC.  ;D

The only merchant now that we have here in my country on which bitcoin accepted is the coins.ph that consist of different categories such as:
remittances, billings payment, shop online, and savings in different banks outlet. And this site can be use in my country nationwide even worldwide too.

Main reason: It is difficult to exchange Bitcoin and its volatility.

yep the I in BRICS is for India. there is plans for the BRICS leaders to have their banking structure as part of the IMF's hyperledger, where everything is done electronically (no paper money)

Yeah! We can hope so.
When five major countries like Brazil, India, China, Russia and South Africa would able to do that in next few years then ROW can easily adopt it.
I can just imagine a situation when the whole world will be cashless- A modern Utopian Global Economy.
Well! We can just hope

In my country there are just a few merchants and marketplaces that accept Bitcoins. It's just at the begininig, so there is a hairdresser, bakery, cafe and some similar. Hope in the future this will change but at the moment many of merchants think accepting Bitcoins is complicated and not very profitable.

bitcoin is the new adoption in gambling and ponzi scheme. The use of fiat has cause a lot violence and stealing which led to the recent adoption.I don't know of any other marketplace.Government just started research to monitor the use and we hope for larger adoption

Bitcoin adoption in my country is quite low compared to countries where large number of users were found. Also adoption happens based upon the support got from the government. On this basis, its really hard to find shops accepting bitcoin in my locality at the same can find traders who convert bitcoin to fiat.

I think it is still a milestone for Bitcoin!
As in my country there are cashless options like beam , visa pay , master pay , etc but only 5-10% of the people actually use this. And ignoring the rest out of all the population only 1-2% know what bitcoin actually is so i think it is going to be a long road for bitcoin to cover but when it becomes famous i think the price is going to shoot and it is no longer going to be controlled by china

We need more publicity for this Bitcoin then only bitcoin users will increase, and our governments will accept Bitcoin as a legal currency. In my country out of 100, i think less than 5 people don't know what bitcoin is. And we will not get any news regarding this bitcoin in tv channels and newspapers. So how people will get to know about Bitcoin.

You are probably either one of the most stupid person here or you just do not care to research and find out what Bitcoin is all about and what it is capable of. You do not want Bitcoin to become regulated or become a legal currency. All you want is to hold and for Bitcoin to increase so that you can be rich.

It is great to hear that there are some marketplaces that accept bitcoin but in my region, I didn't see a marketplaces that accept bitcoin. Maybe it because they don't know about a bitcoin. As we can see has started bitcoin accepted by marketplaces maybe someday my region will accept bitcoin in sooner that is make great in the future.

It's not about believing or not believing but every marketplace will always follow the trend and be targeting only those which can give them big advantages and helping them to cover majority of their customers.
And bitcoin for now still have pretty low users and thus the coverage still under what the marketplaces required to have. If bitcoin just gaining its popularity and as popular as Paypal, the marketplaces will automatically implement the usage of it

Same here there is still no merchant who accepts bitcoin here on my place which is somehow frustrating because i cant spend my bitcoin directly and i would just need to exchange it anytime i wanna use it but most bitcoin users are hoping the same thing on which adoption would increase even more in the future and many merchnts would tend to adopt i.

That's true, only very few country people were much aware of bitcoin as well existence of several other digital currencies. Those countries get lots of stores accepting bitcoin, in my country very small acceptance is found as well few online websites were accepting bitcoin.

I still don't know of physical stores accepting bitcoins here in the Philippines but there are online stores accepting bitcoin for payment. I haven't really tried any of that yet but what I'm thankful for is that we have plenty of ways of cashing in and out, which I've seen in forum, some members are having a problem with. I'm also glad that I can use my bitcoins to load prepaid mobile, and pay bills right out of coins.ph.
There are some physical stores accepting bitcoins like the "Bunnybaker" I previously tried their service they offer wedding and birthday cakes and what I like the most is they have a design of bitcoin.

So you actually went to their store? Do they have other branches? Sigh, would be really nice to just go anywhere and be able to use bitcoins. I mean, I have a credit card but having people swipe it would make me anxious if it's not in a large establishment.

BTW I'm just curious, how do they price their products? Is there like a fixed peso price and then you'll just pay the current bitcoin rate?

Agree. They are still many people who don't know what Bitcoin is and if it even exists. It should be easy enough to attract new users into Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies if there is good promotion about it. Since cryptocurrencies have focused more into their technical aspects, instead of making them more accessible for everyday people, it has lacked the ability of easily attracting new people into it.

However, we are seeing that each day Bitcoin is becoming more accessible, thanks to services like Coinbase which simplifies the task of just making a wallet for any user to start with Bitcoin without any technical knowledge of setting up nodes, syncing with the blockchain, etc.

In addition, scalable solutions can truly make a spike in Bitcoin's price and help gather the attention of those who are new into it. Just my opinion.  ;D
