Title: Are you a crypto enthusiast? What has driven you into becoming one?
Post by: Abiky on January 10, 2017, 11:44:02 AM
Ever since Bitcoin showed up on 2009, I became curious about the digital currency and its underlying technology. At that time, it was very inexpensive and I thought that it was going nowhere.

It was no until late 2014, that I have decided to go deep into Bitcoin by researching its blockchain technology and using the digital currency itself for everyday transactions. I did get into Bitcoin earlier due to fear, uncertainity, and doubt, but if I had, I would've become a millionaire by now.

But still, it was better late than never and I decided to begin my journey into exploring and study blockchain ever since I have started on 2014. It was the amazing concept of the technology underlying Bitcoin that drove me into becoming a crypto enthusiast.

Nevertheless, I would like to know your story about how you became a crypto enthusiast and what has driven you into becoming one.  :)

Yes I am a crypto enthusiast. I started earning centavos weekly from faucets then I shifted into referral commissions but my commission is still low. I purchased antminer s5, I have 4 units back then but time was cruel mining with my units was no longer feasible due to high electricity cost and poor internet connection. Then I started to apply in some sites then when I was accepted I also learned about signature campaign. Right now I am earning a hundred dollar weekly from bitcoin and thats why I will not leave bitcoin.

Absolutely yes, I am a big fan of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology, and I am fascinated with bitcoin. And it's quite a fun story of how I've got so far like now. It all begins in 2015, when I and my friend accidentally passed through an ad of Tomorrowland, which is a music festival with extremely high-priced tickets, and I got so excited that I would do anything, really anything, that could bring me money. At the same time, my friend found out about bitcoin and we decided to take a chance in bitcoin. We earned very little at first, but with our passion of going to Tomorrowland, we've been working quite hard with dozens of bitcoin-related jobs. And somehow, bitcoin's got my heart, and I just so freaking crazy about it ;D

i like bitcoin not cryptocurrencies in general because altcoins have ruined the experience for all of us with their copycat code and the fake pump and dumps and then dead in a week.

but to stay on point, i became interested in bitcoin for the decentralized aspect of it in the first look. the fact that i am my own bank. but after that the profit of investing in bitcoin has gotten my eye :)

that's probably right with many alts that really doing that way i'm sure its much better to focus with btc as we seen more and more big moves happening and if we know how things work we can short it out and gain more profits just needed to keep studying the movements and good understanding to assess correctly and to place good entry and exit price.

It was actually coincidence, I was watching a TV series and bitcoin was mentioned in it I was a little intrigued by it but did do any research but on the same day i saw a article on bitcoin, somewhere around I don't remember where, after reading about it I thought bitcoin to be interesting and well went on searched about it.

Thanks for sharing your story. Glad to see that you have became a crypto enthusiast too.

In my case, right after I learned about Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, I became passionate about preserving my privacy online, as well as securing my computer better. Now I can proudly say, that as well as being a crypto enthusiast, I'm a privacy centric user learning new ways to further secure my system to help protect my BTC and other cryptocurrencies.

Nevertheless, I'm looking to help spread the word about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies so that my friends can become interested in them, and become crypto enthusiasts like me.  ;D

Well anyone who once gets familiar with Bitcoins or digital asset it self, if properly and connectively studies it, can make a fortune out of it. It has many pros than cons. Security, speed of transaction, ease of transaction, all can be done through internet from anywhere in the world. All you need is a WIFI connection. So anyone has any objections?

But my self would rather work on a parallel thesis. I have a great daily job too, so along side the Bitcoin and digital assets I have a plan B, which means if I didn't get a considerable profit out of Bitcoin, at least I would compensate for it and if everything goes well, then I guess I'll have a double benefit.  ;D

Now still read and exploring every opportunity that is related to any of the coin was that bitcoin or some altcoin. Of course I will continue to try to help and advance myself every day.

I get into Bitcoin because I have realized that 1% interest rate on deposits, with 9-10% inflation rate is not cool.

I have also realized that banks are very corrupt and the financial system is out of control with all this debt.

I was looking for an alternative. Cryptography is the only way to decentralize trust and prevent corruption.

The real reason why I got involved in bitcoin is because It was hitting some headlines in some popular news sites and Like every other person who loves to read and explore, I wanted try it out too. That was in December 2014 (I'm a late comer, I know) up till January 2015 but I left bitcoin thereafter after having difficult getting some bitcoin from faucets which I wanted to get started with.

but In October 2016, My interest for bitcoin was back and I had to explore more. I got to know about bitcoin, altcoins, Trading, Gambling and Since then, My interest for bitcoin and cryptocurrency grows with each passing day.

I don't know but... I'm into bitcoin and cryptocurrency because It's like an opportunity for me to explore new Technology including blockchain and other crypto projects.

No one introduce me to bitcoin personally but was attracted by some ads and clicked.  I used to roam around the alternate cryptocurrency section until the time I think most of the alternate cryptocurrency is waste of time.  So I decided to get more involve in Bitcoin and Bitcoin trading.  I think I am one of the cryptoenthusiast but not on the technical side but rather on the business side.

What you did on 2009 is understandable and In fact I might have done the same knowing my personality  ;D . All of the people who bought bitcoin that time even tho it is worth less than $10 simply just believe in it even tho the information to is very limited .

As for me no one introduced bitcoin to me as a result I was stuck a month or two on some micro earnings and I don't even know what to search for that time until I stumbled on this forum which have greatly helped me cause you can earn while you learn here .

Im considering myself a crypto enthusiast now but not to the point that I have so much knowledge deeply in the technical aspect of a crypto but at least I gained some in my own view. Still learning new things as Im progressing.

Since I encountered the term bitcoin out of surfing the web, I've become curious what it is all about. That attitude of mine is what Im seeing why other people aren't involved yet in the world of crypto, eagerness to know what crypto really is.

After that, I introduced it to my colleagues and proudly to say that some of them forward and already gained some knowledge too about this kind of thing in the internet.

I wouldn't describe myself as crypto enthusiast. I just think bitcoin is true revolution as it solves byzantine problem which wasn't solved for hundreds of years. So with that and its features it becomes gold of XXI century :).

Not sure when I've first read about Bitcoin, maybe around 2011/2012. It was interesting but it seemed quite hard to grasp, use and understand so I didn't really read more about it, until I started seeing the price rise. I slowly started to get into Bitcoin because of this, eventually learned more about it and stayed because of the great technology, ease of use and advantages it has when compared to fiat. The failure of the banking system also made me get interested more and more in cryptocurrencies.

First time that it caught my attention after hearing and reading few times here and there and seeing the logo in few sites I had some ideas and knew something like electronic cash exist but only was prompt to seek more information after seeing in a movie which was about the future where an actor gave physical bitcoins to some other dude and it was like the only functioning currency(the ONLY one) it got me thinking and then I fell for it until now.

My room mate introduced to me bitcoins six months ago. He asked me to first read the threads in bitcointalk.org so that i will get a clear idea about bitcoins. I was able to send my earnings in bitcoins at very low transaction fee from abroad to my family.I then started to trade in bitcoin/Altcoin. Now i have become a full time trader and have quit my job also. Bitcoin has given me the financial freedom.Bitcoin has become the driving force of my life.

To me it is all about financial, monetary sovereignty!!
This is what brought me into the Bitcoin space.
I guess nobody here really likes to be as slave of the actual system.
Sure I still have to deal with fiat money on a daily basis, but with Bitcoin I've found a tool, technology where I hope and believe it will be more than just a safe haven in critical times.

I bumped into Bitcoin several times, before I had a serious look at it. I think I saw it for the first time in a local newspaper, when someone talked about a guy buying pizza with what they called, Virtual Money. At the time, I did not take too much notice, so I ignored it.

During my research for something else, I bumped into it again and I stuck my head down the Rabbit hole. Since then, I have not turned back to the fake Fiat world. ^smile^

Yeah me too. I'm mostly an altcoin bagholder as I keep most of them into my wallets either for staking or for safe keeping into the future just in case they get pumped, making me a decent amount of profit.

It is kind of like an addiction to any crypto enthusiast to buy cheap altcoins and hold them into their wallets for the long term. I, see it more as a hobby, rather than making serious money out of it, since most of the times these alts get dumped, making you lose plenty of your investment.

Thanks to Bitcoin, I've not only became a crypto enthusiast, but also a privacy centric user, taking good care of my privacy to help prevent loss of important data, as well as theft of Bitcoin and/or any other cryptocurrency.  ;)

A friend introduced me to Bitcoin, but it was very briefly. He said i should do my own research and so i did. A lot to be honest. I recognized the potential that such a technology (not necessarily Bitcoin) has, and so i try to learn more about crypto currencies and such. There is so much to learn and so little time. I think the knowledge i can gain is more worth then the just the financial benefits from having some different coins.

One day while I was clicking ads of neobux, I came across a site called moon bitcoin faucet. I just went through the site because I like to see the ads. While surfing the site, I came across the term term bitcoin. Then I started searching about bitcoin and came to know its like a currency. After that downloaded a bitcoin wallet. Then i started collected bitcoins from different faucets. Now it has become a hobby for me.Its my story .

I entered into the world of crypto currencies and particular in bitcoin just a few months ago and since then I am a jealous supporter. Firstly, it was curiosity that drove me and then I found out the potentiality and enormous importance for every human to be the bank and the customer at the same time. I imagine neither the writer nor the director of a scientific fiction movie could not think this invention of P2P electronic payment system eight years ago. The main reason I stayed is simple. The freedom has anyone feels when understands that he can do anything he wants with his money without the need of any third trust entity, named bank.

EDIT: grammar zealous not jealous

Why jealous? Seems like a somewhat odd thing to say.
I'm asking because you say that you're interested in Bitcoin because of the impact it could have on society and because you like the technology behind it (using my own words here).

I just don't see how jealousy fits in that narrative.

There's plenty of scams online so that is just a normal reaction to think that it's a scam especially when you have been victim in the past. Now, we know that bitcoin is legitimate and it is making a positive results in our life by grabbing the opportunities it poses on us. It happened to me same as most other users, my friend introduced bitcoin to me as an alternate way for earning. He initially just opened me a wallet and transferred very small part of bitcoin and showed me the value in dollar. This made me to go behind crypts and later myself learned and came to know about several other digital currencies.

After missing the rush in the beginning when I was in grade school, I chose to pick up on Internet Marketing before getting spoiled off crypto riches.

I now am proud of that decision and make more in the long run compared to any six figure luck. I would've ended up blowing it all on digital education, but instead I got it all for free.

It was in the later part of 2016 that I first saw the power of Bitcoin and got deep into it. I was truly amazed by what u saw and regretted as why I had not earlier seen it. Bitcoin is simply the best and the world will never see something like this ever. Though transactions are yet slow over all I love it.

what is there not to like about bitcoin?
the first thing that most people will notice these days is the price and it has been going up for a very long time. anyone who has been wise and invested when it was cheap now has 5 times profit on his investment.

then there are all the currency aspects of bitcoin which makes it double interesting. the technology it offers is brilliant, while everything is publicly available on blockchain you are anonymous and on top of that it is decentralized which means nobody can control you.

So if you start earning bitcoins from this forum , you can also buy things , which your are interested in
Thanks.

Yes, you can earn some good Bitcoins on this forum by doing many tasks such as Escrow services, freelancing, selling stuff, signature campaign, and more. There are so many ways for you to earn decent amount of money, and you could probably make a living out of Bitcoin.

That was one of the many reasons which I joined Bitcoin in the first place, to help me earn at least a side income, while at the same time help me learn more about it and other cryptocurrencies. The best thing that Bitcoin has, it is that it leaves you with complete control of your money, preventing banks, governments, and any other central authority to be able to freeze your funds. Just sharing my thoughts.  ;D

I am one of the crypto enthusiasts since the beginning of 2016. First I saw bitcoin in a facebook game. I just wonder what is it and googled it. Then I found cryptocurrencies. When I started to understand it I also understood the potential of crypto world. Now I am bitcoin investor and also altcoin trader.

I remember seeing the symbol of bitcoin in a web page as a way of payment and the first thing to came to my mind was, what is that?, after looking for it I realized it was the name of a currency, and after reading about the technology I became part of the bitcoin world since then.

It was no until late 2014, that I have decided to go deep into Bitcoin by researching its blockchain technology and using the digital currency itself for everyday transactions. I did get into Bitcoin earlier due to fear, uncertainity, and doubt, but if I had, I would've become a millionaire by now.
Well said. I hate when today's haters claim that early adopters had unfair advantage. But then when I usually ask people who cry the most about it:
'Would you invest in mining or purchase BTC back then? The answer is either: "of course not" (if they are honest) or "sure, I would" (when they are being delusional and base opinion on what we know about BTC today).

Plus, I believe that we are still the early adopters, and there is a long ahead of bitcoin.

That's why I am trying to explain to all my friends and close people all the perspectives of bitcoin. Now I make like minimal salary for my region just with commenting, without going out and to work on some stupid boss for such money, I organize my day as I wish and with the price for bitcoin my earnings are growing as well. I really believe that we, those people who joined to bitcoin in the last year, still have an opportunity to catch the luck and get some real wealth with bitcoin.

I bought my first bitcoin's in May 2014, I bought regularly until I was happy with my stash & have HODL'D since (sold a few fairly recently but only a small % of my stash).

I was advised to invest by a wealthy client of mine & I'm very glad that I did. My cold storage stash is worth over 2.5 times than what I've spent & I hope that'll increase in value at least another 2 x

For me there are a lot of great aspects to Bitcoin and crypto.  The main one for me is that it can be moved at low cost internationally without government controls.
My main economic worries are about the central banks propping up a failed system, this can't or shouldn't be the case with Bitcoin.

The speculative side of Bitcoin is interesting, but is kind of missing the point. It is a lifestyle and political entity, but people really only want to pump it and dump it nowadays.

Well I started from zero to hundreds of dollars in profit monthly. Its 50% luck and 50% effort that I came this far. I began to become an enthusiast when an escrow site that exchanges bitcoin to our local currency and vice versa appeared. During that time I started to earn from faucets then I tried gambling, i tried all styles on how to earn without capital until finally I was hired as a moderator in one of the gambling sites online and have stumbled across signature campaigns here in this forum. From that moment my effort had bear fruit.

Buddy! Bitcoin is too cryptocurrency. You can't differentiate between Bitcoin and altcoins to enmark someone as crypto enthusiast. One using only Bitcoin can also be considered as Crypto Enthusiast. However, you are right in saying altcoins can be a great help for someone to goes deep in Bitcoin and Crypto World!
Altcoins are likewise lottery. Sometimes their price increases more than 100x giving the holder immense profits. So it is always good to attach with Crypto world since convenience and profits offered by Bitcoin is unmatchable.

It was around late 2014 when I first came to know about Bitcoin. I was browsing the net, don't know exactly how I ended up on a page about Bitcoin, but there I was reading about it for the first time.

First thing I did was to learn about trading. I'm lucky in that aspect since I met a great person who taught me the ropes when I was a total newbie. Helped me out greatly.
Then I came to know about the casinos and tried those out as well.
It wasn't until half a year later(Mid 2015) that I got to know this forum.  ;D

So, I've been an enthusiast ever since. My only regret is not knowing about it sooner.

I believe I can consider myself a cryptocurrency enthusiast. I think what led me to this at first was the curiosity of knowing how a payment platform can work without serious centralization elements. Another aspect that led me to try to understand more Bitcoin was the possibility of making profit in the market, since the currency is in the early stages, and this leads to the existence of greater volatility.

I cant say that I'm that nerdy crypto-enthusiast yet as I haven't contribute to the community nor to the system that has great or substantial impact as of now. I use bitcoin but I'm a low level enthusiast in my own criteria of being a enthusiast because I don't know much about bitcoin and also its counterpart altcoins. It driven me to use bitcoin because of gambling and to not putting any real information online when transacting to some explicit sites.

I think a lot of individuals regret that they did not know the currency before, but it was difficult to know at that time, even the experts were slow to learn about it.
I remember an interview that Warrent Buffett gave a few years ago in which he said that Bitcoin was not a safe investment. I believe he did not understand all aspects of the currency at the time, and probably did not know that the currency would remain strong in the market, being useful to so many users.

Ever since I've heard about Bitcoin in its early days, I've thought that it was going nowhere, as it was geek's money, but then I have realized that I was completely wrong.

Luckily, I've joined this forum in late 2014, and my journey towards success in Bitcoin began. Thanks to the signature campaign, I've learned a lot about cryptocurrencies and the blockchain, as it has encouraged me to explore the forum in every section, expanding my knowledge in the process.  :)

My "crypto enthusiasm" comes from theoretical and practical considerations.

The most important reason I'm enthusiastic about BTC for now is that I think cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin can replace the current finance business. The actual finance business (banks and similar institutions) is, in my opinion, totally bloated and inefficient, charging high fees for trivial operations, and benefits a very small group of people.

With Bitcoin the first time we have the real chance to change this. We are giving "banking back to the people", using highly efficient and nearly fully-automated procedures. Advanced crypto features like smart contracts and assets can replace even traditional loaning completely if adoption continues to grow. A major drawback for now is volatility - so I'm looking for solutions for that particular problem.

Practically it does help me to make small international transactions, as I'm travelling often between countries. That's also why I consider the scalability problem important - it should continue to be possible to use BTC without prohibitive fees (My favourite approach for a solution, however, is a multi-blockchain environment, not so much a LN-dependant Bitcoin monopoly).

Yes, the fact we can move our bitcoin cheaply is a great feature but bitcoin offers lots of other imaginative ways to send money, for example you could send and encrypted email over the internet and give your private key to whoever you are sending your coins and they will have access to your coins, obviously this will need to be a trusted person but I hope you see my point.

Thanks for sharing your experiences of what has made you become a crypto enthusiast. While Bitcoin has a huge advantage over traditional payment processors and ordinary banks, it still has some flaws that it needs to address before it can be considered as a mainstream currency. Scalability solutions like SegWit might bring positive changes to the ecosystem, but I believe that making sidechains alongside the Bitcoin blockchain would be a lot better.

If Bitcoin continues to improve over the days, then it may finally become a mainstream currency, and possibly replace fiat sometime in the future. One of the things that has greatly made me become a crypto enthusiast, is the freedom of having control of your own money without intervention from the outside world.  ;D

I've actually lost all enthusiasm for crypto recently.
Bitcoin, Monero, Ethereum, Factom and maybe one or two other coins will actually have a place a few years from now.
The rest are just garbage coins made as a get rich quick scheme. 99% of coins have no use, no advancements in technology and simply aren't worth wasting time or energy on.
I do like Burst. Its a cool idea at least.

Being crypto enthusiast is like having a passion, we need to be smart, we cannot prevent the garbage coins from existing, with knowledge we can distinguish what is legitimate or not. At this moment, bitcoin is the most successful one and I believe altcoins will have their time. In general, once bitcoin will survive and continue its progress, we can expect a greater future for us and for our investment.

Agree. As time goes by, and we explore Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, we expand our knowledge helping us to make good use of them, and prevent making a bad decision at some point in the future. Most people give up when dealing with cryptocurrencies, due to scams and many undesired situations like exchange hacks, but those who remain in it, can grow their experience and become not only a crypto enthusiast, but also an expert about cryptocurrencies.

Nevertheless, those who are passionate about crypto and blockchain technology, will aim to become very successful in the long term. Just sharing my thoughts.  ;D

Everyone who spend their time online heard about bitcoin by late 2011 and not 2009 because only a very few people know about that during that time and when i heard about it i never thought it would take off like this and i never expected that anyone would pay a dollar to get a coin which you are making through your computing power. :D

Exactly. It has many advantages than regular payment processors like the ability to have control of your own money, serve as a store of value, among many other exciting things. You can also apply BTC into every day devices such as vending machines, ATMs, and more in a much easier way than doing so with fiat. The possibilities are endless with Bitcoin, and it can prove itself to become a fierce rival against Visa, MasterCard, PayPal, and other payment processors. If it becomes scalable enough, it can handle lots of transaction throughput, making it more valuable than what it is right now.

That is why, I've been passionate about Bitcoin and blockchain technology, as it brings the power back to their users, in contrast to traditional banks and governments. I've been a crypto enthusiast ever since 2014, and I think that I will continue to do so, as long as Bitcoin and blockchain technology keep making strides in the mainstream world. Just sharing my thoughts.  ;D

It was actually started with curiosity what is Bitcoin was. I heard almost every day with my friends as their daily topic. What inspires me to join is I asked first a question what is that means. Being resourceful in what they're doing I opened up with them to join. I think proper education can persuade someone to engage to bitcoin, how it helps, contribution provided and the uses especially ways to earn. Influence driven me to be a crypto enthusiast.

Me too. I was deeply intrigued into using cryptocurrencies, when I saw the numerous benefits it provides such as anonymity, freedom, and store of wealth. This has made me a crypto enthusiast over time, as I've become more interested into learning about new coins every day. The best part of crypto, is that most coins have a limited supply and huge demand, paving their way for their growth in value for years to come.

As cryptocurrencies can make you a lot of money, it will create more crypto enthusiasts as we know it. It's only a matter of time before most of the people in the world discover cryptocurrencies and become enthusiastic about them. :)
