Title: Test your ability to send ripples or bitcoin.
Post by: angelgeeks on April 13, 2013, 06:15:53 PM
Greetings,

Just thought I'd see what happens when you reach out to a community and ask for a little help in exchange for a little help back.

Please send whatever you can afford to part with to:
Ripple Address:   rMgTVeaLSvZTEbdyBMkPf9C3WYvh9pgxAt
or
Bitcoin Address:  17qzaQHNc63ZuTQ5E9EtnLGthbUvYSASHv

Would like to see if it works and if so how well it can work.

I will be happy to let anyone and everyone know who has sent me any amount of ripples or bitcoins if they were successful in doing so. Of course, there are likely to be many other ways for you to do the same thing without enriching me but I figured I might as well try this out and see what happens.

Please wish me good luck and prosperity. I too am one who does a fair amount of giving (supply computers and do computer repair work for special needs organizations, etc.)  and hope to do a lot more and will do a lot more regardless of whether or not I do well here.

Regards,
Joe - AngelGeeks

Have some ripple stamps lying around in my account, you can have those as I don't need them for anything. I sold most of them for bitcoins to some suckers.

Thanks! although I'm not sure what you mean by that. I can only receive replies?

The way it read at ripple is: "This is your public address. Give this address to other users so they can send you money.

rMgTVeaLSvZTEbdyBMkPf9C3WYvh9pgxAt

Are you saying that I have to send someone a request for money and THEN they can send me money?

I'm saying you can only receive XRP (Ripples) via that address.  If you want Bitcoin, you would have to get a Bitcoin address (these start with the number 1, while ripple addresses start with the letter r)

Now, from that point, you can attempt to convert ripples into Bitcoin, but that's a journey you'll have to make on your own, as I have no idea how that works :P

OK Thanks to everyone for your willingness to even take time out to comment and/or steer me in the right direction. Looking forward to seeing how this all shakes out with bitcoin and ripple xrp's. Good Luck to everyone else as well.

Hi Mike....Congratulations to you and me. You are the first person I have done anything successful with as far as cryptocurrency stuff.
I received your 200 like instantly.
Thank You so Much! I really appreciate it. It may seem like a small thing to you but it was something special to me.

No problem pal ;D  Ripples seem a little useless to me tho so I sent you a dollar's worth of BTC as well.

WOW! Fantastic...I will now try and figure out where it was I signed up for the bitcoin account. I did manage to save the bitcoin address and password protected the zip folder that contained the info but now I have to get busy finding out how to discern where it is I can find out about what is in it it.

Maybe you have an easy explanation or do I have to go to the original place I signed up at?

Thanks!
Joe

Are you simply attempting to learn how digital currency transactions work via a hands-on method?

Aww lol. Can I have a bit of free money too? xD

Yeah you'll have to take care of it wherever you signed up for the wallet.  I assume they're holding your private key, which is an even longer address used only to send Bitcoin (after all, if you can't send Bitcoin, then it's as good as gone.)

Once you do figure it out, I recommend getting a local wallet instead (I personally use Electrum, since it doesn't have to download the blockchain.)

BTW - Mike Christ...What is a digital painting service? Maybe I can send some work your way when the opportunity presents itself.

As for the other questions...yes I'm trying to put it into practice and trying to get my feet wet with respect to this as I do support the idea wholeheartedly.

I sent you a quarter lol

If you click on the link, you'll find a thread showcasing my artwork.  I'm an artist, and will paint anything you need me to for Bitcoin.

OK Mike...sounds good...will be sure to check it out. I just now am panicking a little in that I want to hurry up and verify to you that I received the bitcoin like I said I would. So I may be away from this thread for a little bit while I try and figure it out. Thanks!

It wouldn't matter if it was a penny....I'm excited to see this thing working in realtime.

Wow! Mike...That's some pretty good art work. Not sure you'd find anything better on TV. Will definitely keep in mind for future.

Outrageous ;D  I remember someone buying 50k ripples for .5 BTC a while back, but I think that number's diminished.  Anyway, ripples don't do much as of yet, so I'm not sure why people want them.

That's actually a good idea. It's nothing for people, or you, to send a few cents to one another to gain a grasp of things. I will do the same.

I actually have a horror story about bitcoin and my informing a friend of the tremendous opportunity and getting screwed over by said "friend". I'm just trying to decided with sub-forum to post it on as I am sure it won't be in newbie jail.

OK...I'm thinking I somehow received my bitcoin address when I installed the bit mining software on my computer back on May 26th or 2012.
Because it was hogging up system resources and I wasn't getting coins I stopped using it and haven't been doing anything with it for some time. I just opened it up and I see an address there which I'm going to cross reference with number you sent the quarter to and see if it is the same.

Sorry RonnMill...I don't know just yet.

OK...Mike Christ...I think I figured out what is going on. I started up the bitcoin mining software on my other computer and it's taking a long time to load up but it did have the same bitcoin address there and the buttons on the top to send and receive. I noticed nothing had arrive yet but I'm not sure if that is because it is still loading the mining software or what. When it does show up I will surely put it up here. I'm just hoping I don't have to go anywhere else and this little mining client is all I need. I suspect I probably downloaded it directly from the original bitcoin website.

Hey un0mic...if you did want to send something like that you might want to send it in digital form as I wouldn't want to see you get into any trouble although in Michigan things are getting better for the midnight tokers.

OK...ThemThereHills....unfortunately...if you had tried sending me any xrp's I haven't received them yet.
Wasn't sure if you were talking generally or not just thought I'd let you know.

And Mike...I'm still waiting on the receipt of the quarter and will let you know as soon as I do.

When I opened up the bitmining software I saw the same address that you send it to and it wasn't showing anything yet.
It was hogging up the system resources and it's still trying to start the mining process I guess and stuck at around the 80% mark saying its's synchronizing with network. Hopefully things will get going here soon. In any case, I really appreciate your helping out.

Not sure what's going on there.  Anyway, it's possible you no longer have the private key to that address, unless you can figure out where it went.

From now on, I recommend using a public address generated from Electrum (http://electrum.org/download.html)

Sorry for delay! Computer that I was trying startup the bitmining software shut down on its own and after I was able to get it to boot back up and restart the bitcoin mining software its saying: Error Loading blkindex.dat and when I click on OK it brings up another message for bitcoin-qt.exe "bitcoin-qt.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." with a Close option.
Will look into and hopefully get it resolved.
Appreciate the advice and will likely follow it, especially if I can't sort things out with the bitcoin mining software I installed back in May of last year.

Hi Mike...couple of questions if you please....
I went ahead and downloaded the portable version of Electrum per your suggestion and signed up and chose the mooo.com server. I also stored the mnemonic phrase in case I lose something.
I noticed when I clicked on the "Receive" tab at the top that it had automatically created 5 addresses (which I hope is normal?).
If you would be so good as to send me a penny I'd like to test it out and I'd be happy to send it back to test my sending too.
I'm going to put up the first address it created here===> 17qzaQHNc63ZuTQ5E9EtnLGthbUvYSASHv

Thanks again!
Joe

OK...I fixed the error with the bitmining sofware by deleting some files (not the wallet.dat file) in the subfolder for bitcoin and restarting and it's back up and running although it isn't showing I've received anything.

Will keep trying.

Also noticed now that a popup above the start button shows "wallet.aes.json" which I'm uncertain about. Maybe you have an idea.

I think that Electrum is going to work out nice. I'm going to edit my original posting to show that address instead of the one I started with.

Thanks!
Joe

Hey Recat...
I think you might have to post a bitcoin or ripple address in order for people to send you free money before anyone can send you anything.
You also might want to find another corner to work as I've got this one cornered. Just kidding! ;D

Just looked at your message again and the response that was directed to you from Mike Christ. Sorry...I wasn't paying close enough attention. I thought the quarter was heading my way and realized what he said was meant for you and that he had intended to send me a dollar.
