Bitcoin is decentralized. You can't obtain this information. You can only make educated guesses.

I think we can't determine on how many bitcoin users are there and also about wallets opened 1 person can open a lot of wallets it depends where they use it. Bitcoin users escalate from 2013 to present, and it escalates more when the bitcoin value increases to $800. And what's the topic all about? There are many topic here that is like yours,

There's 0 chance of ever finding out the answer. If I just opened 1000 wallets but nothing is in the m I still have 1000 wallets. Who knows how many people have wallets with zero balances in them at this point. Probably tons!

It is impossible to find out. A single wallet can contain thousands of addresses.

Even if you're talking about how many addresses currently exist, its much much more than trillions of trillions. If you're talking about how many addresses are generated by wallet clients, you can't find that out either. The best way you can try to get an estimate of how many addresses is confirmed to have been generated is to find out how many addresses have at least a transaction[1].

This wouldn't count the number of wallets that have been opened and don't have any coin in them (i.e., have never transacted on the blockchain.)

Some people say that Blockchain.info is unreliable but I'm not exactly sure what about and why people are concerned.

maybe you can calculate the total addresses in a wallet, but each user may have multiple addresses in every wallet. so to calculate the total bitcoin users will never be done, I myself made a purse of more than 4 times

Don't know exactly how many wallets have been opened by me, because daily we are investing into many things every where we are creating different wallets, it is not possible to identify address every day i keep changing wallet address so don't know exactly.

You seem to not know the differences between wallet and address did you? there's no point of creating different wallets on your every investment if you were using desktop wallets such as electrum, multibit, or any else you might facing inconvenience regarding this matter. And yeah a wallet could contain so many addresses and there's no way to calculate the total of the wallets though it's pretty pointless to calculate the total of wallets opened

if you want to know how many people use bitcoin by seeing those addresses, you can calculate it, but do not forget to consider there are a few people who use more than 1 wallet, and those who do not use the old wallet. but it would not be the exact result.

Well about the sure number of people using bitcoins there are no clear how much is it,
because many people want make it keeps anonymous and there are no peoples track their transaction of bitcoin
but there are source of informations for number of wallets opened and it was be answered above me.

This data can change every minute because it takes maybe 2 min to create a new wallet. If only 100 people decide to do it daily, we'd have 700 new wallets every week, but when you think that each of these 100 people can easily make 30 new wallets in just an hour, you'll see that any estimation can be far from reality. You could say that each person should own one wallet, but no. I have a wallet on my desktop, laptop and phone, so that's 3, but some people have more computers and more phones and some have multiple wallets on each computer and we should also count abandoned wallets.

Well, thats still a mistery. We cant get much informations because its not a centralised system. We cant determine how many wallet are being opened everyday. Maybe you can ask every wallet provider about how many wallet is being downloaded everyday. Then you go make a sum of it. Im sure they got data how many wallet are being downloaded from their site.

From the Blockchain wallet data the number of downloaded wallet or opened wallet only on Blockchain.info can be got. Likewise several other wallet providers are there, also its not at all to have an accurate count of wallet hold by single person.

Worldwide.. nobody knows. There are only some websites like Blockchain that show how many wallets they have opened but it's all about their wallets (the number of wallets that have been opened on their website), which is a number over 12.000.000 as far as I remember. I guess we've got over 50.000.000 wallets in total, assuming the fact that many of us either have more than two wallets used as a backup (or to claim a different identity) or lost their first wallets.

You need to understand that total Number of wallets is not equal to the total Number of People who use Bitcoins. People nowadays make a wallet on many websites. For example in a country where coinbase doesn't convert to their local currency, people will have to make wallets in their local bitcoin websites. You can guess a number of total wallets but not total Number of people who are using Bitcoins.

There's no way to tell ho wmany wallet have been used in the market,because you can produce unlimited number of wallet,especially if you are using an electrum wallet or a tor wallet,and besides bitcoin is decentralized no company can come out with a right figure.

As many were saying. I believe bitcoin wallets that were opened are cannot be measure. Its immeasurable because we dont have any data for that matter. Bitcoin wallet is unlimited. Even if you counted all people who are actually using bitcoin. Theres no accurate information because every single person could have multiple wallets.

Agree with you sir that we can not measure the bitcoin wallet opened since start up to present even member/user we do not know how many people using bitcoin since each users has multiple bitcoin wallet for the safety of our money and to lessen the risk.

We should answer your question with a question. Why do you need this information? People can thumb suck stats from sites like Blockchain.info and other centralized sites, but nobody knows how much of these wallets are just duplicates of single users. I have 100's of Bitcoin addresses with different amounts of Satoshi. Every time I experiment with a new site that requires a bitcoin address, I use a new one.

So what are you trying to determine with this question? How many users use Bitcoin or how many wallets contain Satoshi or how many active wallets there are?

well not really, if there was a way to say that two wallet are connected based on transaction that are sent it would kill a bit the anon of bitcoin, because the real anonimity in bitcoin come when you use a completely different wallet

those wallet will not use as a output other addresses that you have created, thus linking them and making you traceable more easily, if for every new transaction i'm using a new different wallet your TX will be 100% anon

No one knows because theres no statistics regarding on this matter because people could able to make multiple addresses and if we are askin about the precise number of individual who uses bitcoin then we would really have a hard time on knowing it or not possible at all.

Bitcoin is created for the anonymity so that no matter how you try, you can never know the exact number of bitcoin wallets or even the number of the people who use Bitcoin. Instead of asking about this impossible job, you should do something more useful and more effective to you such as learning new things about bitcoin. Veteran members never ask about this kind of question

Just to add: even if I've only personally opened 3 wallets, I know that at least three sites I have accounts on with bitcoin in them regularly change the deposit address. I somewhat consider my accounts on these sites as "web wallets" since they perform the exact same tasks as a wallet, except without private keys or seeds.

Within my Electrum wallet I have over 30 addresses, and throughout the lifespan of my accounts on the three sites I mentioned, I'm certain more than 10 addresses have been generated under each account.

I'm guessing here that OP actually wants to find out how many addresses have been generated.

it is very difficult to find the number of people using bitcoin or how many people have open wallets so far because many user have different wallet address so it is difficult to ans such questions.....

It would be very hard to count how many total bitcoin wallet had been opened because there are now lots of wallet providers. Aside from that, some people here have multiple wallets. There are also some people who discontinued using bitcoin and abandoned their online wallets!

Blockchain Web wallet have 11+ millions users. You can check here https://blockchain.info/wallet/#/. Other Web wallets do not have so many users. Regarding hardware wallets - it is very hard to say, how many users install Bitcoin wallet.

There are many wallets now and there are types of wallet that is mostly used here: online wallets and cold wallets.
We don't know exactly the number of people who used bitcoin because it is not important for it cause it is not produced by government. The maker of it is unidentified person who's alias Nakamoto. You can get also information here by searching.

That is astonishing. I know that there are many people using Bitcoin at present but I can't believe that there have been 11+ millions people come from Blockchain.info. this is new to me. I am really happy to know that the number of people keep increasing every day
We can never know the exact number of Bitcoin users since Bitcoin is created for the anonymity and for protecting its user.

I think no need to waste your time to count the number of purse to describe total the user's of bitcoin, because it is futile
because in fact there is no reliable method to calculate total bitcoin users

The bitcoin network do not have a concept like open wallet action, all those wallet are already existed, you just randomly pick one and uses it.
also the address belongs to whom holds the private key, you can't owen a private key, you just hold it and nobody else have it.

uh? the original post is not talking about online wallet such a blockain.info, coinbase and akin, but about the wallet.dat that you find in the %appdata%--->roaming

and at present there is no way to know how many are opened, usually people prefer to create a new address, but i actually like to have a new wallet for if i want to have a new address, it's more anonymous

There is no way to get the exact information that you are seeking, for wallets every other new bitcoin related site is opening there own wallet so well that's a lot. As fast as the number of people using Bitcoin is concerned then there is no way to know this since bitcoin is designed to be anonymous, but still with a simple Google search you can get an estimate.

Yes, may be its amazing but this number does not tell anything about how many people keep bitcoins in blockchain.info. For me, I have only in bc.i two wallets. First one when I started to learn about bitcoin which has no any funds and I don't remember password and seed. Second one which I keep it only because I have a network address and I don't want to change it but I rarely use it. So, this is a fictitious number and maybe would be more useful the bc.i to give us any clue how many of these wallets has bitcoins and last time people had accessed them.

I cant say it is impossible. there must be somewhere in the algorithm of bitcoins that how many total used addressees associated with each wallet and how many total wallets being used. But to count how many people using is impossible as there is no information on that.

This have been asked many times in this forum and answer is no we can't know how much people are using bitcoin and we can't estimate total number of bitcoin wallets created so far.

As you say, a person can open more than one wallet. The number of opened wallets does not directly number the person.
This graph also gives the number of online wallet users. We do not know the number of people using a desktop or mobile wallet.

But at least as many people as online wallets are using it. I guess the actual number is 2-3 times that.

even though the number of wallets will not be counted, so I think there is no urgency to calculate total bitcoin users. you will only buangh your time in vain, only to things like that

So i will make one. Discarding all fake wallets and dust i would say there are 2-4 millions of wallets and around 2 million of bitcoin users.
Its good userbase but can be bigger, in future it will be, but we must adjust bitcoin code for it.

wow interesting do you really have opened 1000 wallet? is it possible to open such a huge number of bitcoin wallet, and why you need to open to such big number of online wallet, either they have 0 balance in  most of them. very honestly i have two online bitcoin wallets one is for the bitcoin which i use for trading and the second is for the signature campaign, where i have my signature campaign income.

I doubt that he can open 1000 wallets. He just a liar because it is impossible to handle more than 100 wallets. I think I do not understand what wallet is and what address is. He probably has 1000 addresses but he can never own more than 50 wallets.
Generating Bitcoin wallet costs a lot of time and if you use Bitcoin core or electrum, it may take up to 1 day to successfully create a wallet

Forget about knowing on how many total wallets have been opened. Yourself is the only one who knows your password and even the online wallets provider aren't going to disclose these type of information as everything when it's related to bitcoin wallets all of them are confidential. It will good that this thread should be closed already, as you know the majority answers.

You can never know the exact number of wallets because bitcoin is anonymous and I doubt that 50% of bitcoin users will tell you that they are using Bitcoin. Most of them will hide the truth and deny to admit that Bitcoin is an important part of their life. Therefore, I doubt that you can calculate this data

And anonymity is one of the biggest feature of bitcoins and if by any reason that is disturbed its a loosing situation for a bitcoin user. And why would someone need such analysis ? Really it seems awkward why someone is asking for such details.

There is not much of a point to know the number of wallets since someone could create a script that created tons of light wallets like multibit, the number of people using bitcoin is more relevant but unfortunately there is simple no way to know for sure how many people there are using bitcoin and holding bitcoin.

It is very clear that we cannot find how many wallets are opened so far and how many people are using bitcoin as each transaction are having mostly unique wallet address as almost all wallets are generating new address as soon as the old address is used in any transaction. But even if you find the number of wallets opened then also you cannot find the number of peoples using bitcoin as their are users who are using multiple wallets for bitcoin.

So it is very clear that nothing can be done for your query.

Honestly i really don't know how many company or people are opened bitcoin wallets since its privately and anonymous we can not know how many of them also we do not know if how many people are using bitcoin but we can give some estimate i think almost worldwide we have 15%-25% who use bitcoin.. this is just speculation but this is not the actual number of people.. no one can know how much and how many people are using bitcoin..
Unless if you are asking for the price we had bitcoinwisdome which is you can use for analyse the movement of price and the updated price of bitcoin..

I don’t think it is impossible, it is impractical but not impossible especially if you use a client like electrum or multibit, you only need to install the software and within it you can create several wallets, I don’t know if there is a limit to how many wallets you can create, but if there isn’t then you could create as many wallets a your hard drive could store.
