Title: What do you think the price of bitcoin will be in 2018
Post by: Roboabhishek on January 23, 2017, 11:52:58 PM
As we all know that bitcoin has progressed a lot since it was released and here in 2017 we saw the price of bitcoin was 1000+ USD which is 5x of the price was in 2015.
So what do you think it will be in 2018.

Honestly its hard to predict because bitcoin is unpredictable and there's no assurance that the price could be rise more or not..
But i can give you my own prediction.. for now because of the movement of the price right now from last year and the 2015 movement.. we are seing more price fluctuate every year so i think the price could be touch at $1700 as maximum and playing around $1400-$1600 this is just my own speculation..

That is true, since bitcoin price is really unpredictable but if observed from the past, bitcoin price continue to increased slowly.I am very optimistic on 2018 but it is still early to speculate since we are newly started now (2017). $1,700 is attainable for me.

Price is going to Tank, because BTC is going to get caught in the middle of a trade war between the US & China.

China will try to use their control over BTC to use against the USA as Leverage over areas that China wants to claim as territory in the South China Sea.

If you are a US Citizen and hold BTC expect the Chinese to block all transactions trying to force the US to comply with their wishes on territory disputes,
Trump will not blink and will not yield , no matter if China Blocks all BTC transactions.

Everyone better cash out to US $ if they want to protect their capital before this battle between the Titans begins, then it will be too late.  :P

I think it will hit $2,000 by that time, maybe not at the start but probably in the middle of it or before it ends. Though we might need a bit of a push here before we sky rocket to that point. Maybe a mass adoption will even prove to be a good push. News of big corporations adopting bitcoins will most likely be our friend.

i hope it will hit more than $1500 in 2018. I dont know about war between US and China can do so much damage to bitcoin, but i know some local bussiness in my country start to add bitcoin payment, maybe it will increase bitcoin price. I wish other country start to accepting bitcoin too.

It might be $2000 or $200.Bitcoin is still very weak and if central banks decide to smash it,they will.
For me the price doesn`t matter that much,we need to gain more btc supporters, gain influence and increase adoption so the bitcoin system will become a little bit more independent.
It can`t be totally independent from the fiat economy(unfortunately).

bitcoin price is on the rise as it was from the day one. and that is only because more and more people are investing in it. in fact it is a pretty simple relationship more demand every day with new adoption and new investors while the supply is the same leads to a higher price.
it is hard though to say what the price will be exactly. but generally i think we can see $2000 in a year. that would be a small 2x rise.

Nah, it's too far to predict the price of bitcoin in 2018. We still on January and very very early in 2017. I think the price of bitcoin will stable at $700-$1000 in this year and for the next year it can reach $1000 or even more if this year being a good year for bitcoin.

I do not think that the dispute in South China Sea have relation with Bitcoin.  Besides, it is not the Chinese Government that has control over the miner.  Though it is believed that the majority of hashes came from China, it is not owned by Chinese Government but by several people.  They may reject region specific transaction fee but I doubt the issue is in SCE.
Though there is the possibility that the Bitcoin price may tank because of the debate between two group of developers. But I believe that Bitcoin will break $1500 price on 2018.

New bottom has been established since the price increase and it will continue based on the current track that bitcoin is progressing. Also after some price decrease happened after the $1100 rally, the price bounce back again and I think already established a good support around $900.

If this will continue then a minimum of $1500 can happen at the start of 2018 or even above to that. But of all this will just happen if the progress is focus on price increase which is not the usual cases. Really hard to speculate what will be the price since everything is unexpected.

Why not we can expect same 5 times growth in 2018 from the lowest levels of 2017.
I speculate bitcoin surely will reach more than $5000 levels by 2018. Because 2018 must be a mid way of next halving which may occur around June 2020. So we can expect some real boom and mass adoption to happen at those times.

The growth will be exponential, growth in bitcoin is never a nice smooth sail, the FOMO kicks in and we see tons of people getting in and driving the price higher. It is impossible to predict how high a bubble goes... this is basic knowledge in trading, you can never guess where the top is. It can be 10000 or it can be 100000 with bitcoin. In a year everything is possible.

We cannot really say what exact price the bitcoin could have in the year 2018. Even expert cannot predict it exactly because it really depends on everyday activity, but as per bitcoin experts that we can have good 2018 waiting for us, so let us just pray, hope and be optimistic with the good outcome.

Man it's already hard to predict where it will end this year.
So many unexpected things can happen with bigger influences on the price, espacieally from outside when FUD gets created and spreaded by certain individuals.
But as this is the specualtion thread I will make a wild guess, where I often was totally wrong with  :D, and hope for an imo optimistic price of ~2500USD for end 2018 with several spikes in both directions in between.

if this year bitcoin will hit $1500 barrier i think the price of bitcoin in 2018 would be $2000 barrier. well its just my speculation but still i believed that bitcoin could do it. even its slow to pump it will be great for us. that's why im still wondering if bitcoin would dump up to $600 so i could buy atleast 3 bitcoin. im not that rich but me and my friends working together to make our money grow.

This really depends on the way cup and handle pattern, that we have at hand right now, is going to develop in the near future.

If it ultimately turns out to be a bear trap, we could make 1000 dollars a new bottom with bitcoin averaging two to three thousand dollars in 2018. If we break down, it is still not impossible, but recovery will almost surely take twelve months plus.

Just my two cents.

It is way too early to predict what the price will be. We are still on the first month of 2017. There are a lot of things that can effect the price of bitcoin. There is a line up of good things that could occur this year like the ETF, LN, Segwit. This may push the price up. But as we know, bitcoin is very unpredictable. There can also be unpredictable events that can suddenly crash the market. So, I will not make any prediction. I'll just hope and pray that bitcoin is better in 2018 than today.

Bitcoin has progress every year that past. So if we have 900$  below the 2016 ends,2017 will  reache at 1500$ and by the year 2018,it will rise even further because of its popularity.

You may have point that it is really hard to predict what will happen in the future but isn't it fun to speculate on something that is about to happen? It is more challenging to add a specific price increase than just saying that the Bitcoin price will increase, because it is already given, then wait for it if the things we had stated is realized.  Honestly if our prediction tends to be correct, it somehow adds to our self esteem :).  Though I tend to follow prediction of more experience Bitcoiners when it comes to Bitcoin and analyze what they said, so far I can see prediction of 2017 ending with $1500 and $2000 price of Bitcoin, I will be conservative and would speculate that $1500 is more likely to be achieved  this 2017.

Bitcoin price will be higher than the present and will be having low volatility than any other cryptocurrencies. The price cannot be calculated accurately because the variations doesn't have any fixed limit. It goes to any extent.

IMO, If we have to base 2018 from this past years increase, probably it will be more than double, but if would base it with the current price and what's happening in the network and in the community, the exchanges, and everything that may happen this year, the negative parts are always the talk and the good progress of bitcoin is not being talked about, probably the price would still be roaming around this price and would probably reach $2000 but I am not sure if it could go higher than that.  :)

Anything lower than the last ATH should be a failure by 2018. So we are looking at at least 1400+ stable floor, we will need to do something to push the price there. Segwit is definitely needed for the next big increase, and also a killer app like the supposed mega 2.0.

The 2017 has only just began... Even this year's price is still unpredictable unless we are already there... There are already speculation threads where everyone has a wrong speculation of the price even if it's only months away...  So it's too early to predict the 2018, but for sure it will be above $1000+ but might be not more than $2000+... But who knows...  :)

I think Bitcoin has become very popular by this time. and with every passing year we shall see high prices of bitcoins unless any major disaster happens. By the End of year 2018,i can see Bitcoin price to be near 3000$ if things keep on moving on the current pace.

We can't say for sure, but it is possible to realize that there are many signs that strengthen forecasts that Bitcoin will appreciate in the long run. Some of these signs are the growing involvement of third world countries, and the possible solution for the scaling issue. However, the last point will be something that can still bring several debates, as there is not enough consensus on the best solution to solve this problem.

Based upon the price of the current year we cannot make predictions. Every year variation happens in correspondence to adoption, development and various other factors. So it moves on based on the base its been created. None is required to control and make changes in its track of success.

If the current blocksize war continues and Core stays with 1 MB blocks and without Segwit, we will have ... two Bitcoins in 2018!  :o

Bitcoin 1 (Core): $20-100
Bitcoin 2 (Unlimited, XT, btcfork or whatever): $20-200

That is pretty bearish, I know, although all bitcoin holders will have tokens in both chains. That's why I urge both parties to find a solution "in the middle" (let's say, 4 MB blocks for now, and an upgrade mechanism, and Segwit). In this case, I think the price can easily go over the old all-time-high to the $2000 region. But at this moment I consider it very unprobable.

it is very hard to predict bitcoin price for that long period. just 15 months ago Bitcoin was worth $200, and many wondered whether to go back to the $500.
Last month days is stable $900~ I think this is the real price for now. In any case, If you can try to save your bitcoin

With the current trend of transaction I can say that it will be a mess in few years if the block size will not get increased.

Segwit is a must, in 2018 I hope that bitcoin will be more popular and be known to people as a good currency and not as a currency which is used by criminals or hackers.

I hope it does get implemented too, the problem with the unconfirmed blocks has been increasing in frequency and we experienced it again a few days ago and this is really fraustrating to get your funds after two days of waiting for it to confirm. Without any changes we might not see an increase in adoption and prices in 2018.

It's impossible to have two Bitcoins running at the same time. XT, Unlimited and all other formed sides are nothing more than altcoins. We just need to be patience when it comes to the activation of segwit. I know it might take a while, but at some point something needs to be done in order to push Bitcoin to the next level. Everyone can see that this can't be stretched for another year. It's just sad to see that the ego's of certain high level Bitcoiners seem to have more importance than Bitcoin itself.

SegWit in its current form won't happen, miners won't push it. Even Bitcoin Unlimted has higher hash support now.
Current support level for SegWit is less than 17%. It is impossible to reach consensus of 95% - and definitely not before deadline which is in December 2017.

Patience is the only thing that counts from the community side.

He means to say after hardfork some people will be using same old block sizes to have 2 different versions of bitcoins. I just wonder what would be the differences with them from any altcoin?

But I predict, due to more number of unconfirmed transactions all miners will start agreeing for increasing block size like 1MB for every year. If this happens, the most debated topic of scalabilty of bitcoin will go fade away to make bitcoin more stronger to have huge prices like $2000 or $5000 in 2018.

Ehh it doesn't worth like that. You can't put Unlimited, XT, BTCfork or whatever in a single package. Those are separate blockchains.

Nobody is going to support anything but Bitcoin Core anyway. If it ever happens it's a good opportunity to double your bitcoins by dumping your Unlimited or whatever.

More than push BTC to the next level, it is a matter of survival, what I'm trying to say is that the changes will have to be done if BTC want to stay on the move, or will be displaced even if it seems now impossible, the longer they try to agree, the more that other projects will take advantage of other solutions, every day more and more possible solutions are emerging to solve the limitation of the volume of transactions for example, what is certain is that this year will be interesting in how it solves this type of divergences, but other projects are likely to be much larger than they have been so far and in one of these can reach the level of popularity of BTC.

So what do you think it will be in 2018
I hope it would definitely cross $2000. We have seen the tremendous increase in btc price from $750 to $915 now.We could clearly see the growing interest of new companies in bitcoins. So, there would be a huge increase in demand resulting in a rapid increase in bitcoin price.

It is really hard to predict the exact amount of bitcoin in 2018 because of it's unstability, price of bitcoin fluctuataes and goes high and sometime decrease as we all saw that bitcoin dropped almost 350$ fews days back. So we only make pricdiction or we only make guesses, no one tell the what actually happens with bitcoin in future. So my prediction and wish  for 2018 is i want price of bitcoin to reach or in between 3000$ + in 2018.

This happens when there is rush and lots of transaction at the same time, for now the number of unconfirmed transaction has been decreased to 11k but still it is too much because the blocks are most of the time full.

If this problem get solved then I think that the price of bitcoin will be much higher than it is now, I hope that for a month the price will become at least $1,000.

Already there big momentum going on because now it is really in healthy position. So people are actively waiting for big pump in bitcoin market as many people are keep showing their interest toward bitcoin. So, definitely the price will be around 1500$ mark.

$1,500 is indeed a good range that we can reach. Probably this is far more achievable than hitting $2,000. As said previously, we need something changed with how we are using bitcoins right now since it will be a big problem the time when bitcoins get a mass adoption. Think about it, if we double or triple the amount of transactions we are having right now. That would be a real nightmare.

bitcoin price movements are difficult to predict. but I believe bitcoin prices will continue to increase. in 2018 the price of bitcoin could reach over 2000USD. with prices like these bitcoin will be increasingly in demand, and is also used as a currency for the daily life of people in this world.

It's difficult to predict the current amount of bitcoins in 2018 as various factors impact the value of the prices.Keep looking out present Bitcoin's industry I guess the price will be increasing and stay from $1500 to $1600 also there may be changed,so possibility it cross $2000.Expect 2018 to be a very good year for Bitcoin's price in demand.

It's actually very simple what the meant with the prices. If Bitcoin remains staying in its current form where SW won't be activated, then he expects the price to plummet to $20-$100 in 2018.

If another Bitcoin fork will reach the majority of the crucial support, then he expects the price to plummet to $20-$200 in 2018. Either way, he is not really having much confidence in how things will work out.

I am not that bearish as he is. If Bitcoin Core stays as it is, then it will surely disappoint a lot people, but the price won't sink that far down. Maybe a few hundred lower at worst. But that's really it.

Real damage will become reality when an alternative fork happens to win this nonsense battle. It means that even though people supporting these alternatives know the negative outcome, they still want to push it through.

$1500 is great sort of nice speculation not big and too low  i agree with you pal well we could not say that it would up to $2000 because of what happen last and this year because the end of the year is not the same so that is my speculated price too and lets hope that it is bigger than that amount

If bitcoin become accessible to traditional investors and mass adoption then I speculate that the price of bitcoin could reach 2100 USD. I think stability and wider participation are more important for the long term to get the price increasing to 1600 USD then slowly getting to 2000 USD at the end of the year.

Yes if everything goes fine then $2k won't be difficult to achieve by that point of time as by then many more will join the party and start using bitcoins and many companies will enter into the bitcoin world so that price or even higher is expected to reach in the year 2018 and that doesn't seem to be impossible looking at the growth of bitcoins.

We cant say exactly the price of bitcoin in 2018 as it depends upon numerous factors which are related to bitcoin directly or indirectly. For example if the world is in any World war, then ofcourse the price will be different as if there is no War and peace everywhere. My rough guess is 2000$ if most things are smooth.

What is block in bitcoin system ?
I am using bitcoin since 2014 but still i don't know what block is  ;D

OK, that's easy: Blocks are the parts of the Blockchain (explanation at Wikipedia) (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blockchain_%28database%29)

It's impossible to have two Bitcoins running at the same time. XT, Unlimited and all other formed sides are nothing more than altcoins.

Both can claim that they are "the real Bitcoin". To my knowledge there is no globally accepted Bitcoin trademark (except for one in Russia).

We just need to be patience when it comes to the activation of segwit. I know it might take a while, but at some point something needs to be done in order to push Bitcoin to the next level.

I agree. I'm hoping that the Segwit activation in LTC could drive some miners to accept the Segwit proposal in the future. And perhaps Core devs could make a move and increase block size at least to 2 MB to convince the Chinese miners that oppose the current limitation.

Ehh it doesn't worth like that. You can't put Unlimited, XT, BTCfork or whatever in a single package. Those are separate blockchains.

No. If Unlimited imposed itself finally as the main competitor to Core, then the other "big blockers" would switch to Unlimited. There would be no point of using XT, Classic or other fork. But it's still possible that a more moderate proposal would "win" the big-blockers competition (like Classic).

Nobody is going to support anything but Bitcoin Core anyway. If it ever happens it's a good opportunity to double your bitcoins by dumping your Unlimited or whatever.

That's a possible outcome, but only if Core offers real usability to its users. A 1-MB-Blockchain won't offer this in 2018, even with Segwit activated there would be probably worse bottlenecks than now. So most users that want to use on-chain transactions would switch to Unlimited.

2018 is not that far ahead. So even prediction at end of 2018 should be possible.

Interesting thing about current price is that altho it dont look anything special, every day gets into top30 of days with highest BTC price. We had 14 days of stability at this price that less then 20% under the ATH day.

May people are predicting that bitcoin 2000 USD in the year 2018, no body don't know how much the price will be even higher than what we are expecting and may be even less.
to me if the price of bitcoin will continue its journey so successfully we can hope that the price of bitcoin will cross 2500 USD level very easily. may be much more from that price.

But I like to predict bitcoin prices to be more than $10k levels by 2018. Because of considering the exponential growth of mass adoption and government reorganizations. Even most of the countries may not come into recognizing bitcoins but mass adoption will not get failed so certainly we can expect $10k levels by 2018.

As we all know that bitcoin has progressed a lot since it was released and here in 2017 we saw the price of bitcoin was 1000+ USD which is 5x of the price was in 2015.
So what do you think it will be in 2018.

I'd think the price will be around what it is now maybe a little better. We're probably not looking at more than 2x this year. I think the 5x difference was caused by the 2015 tx hacks and the 2016 halving. None of that is expected for this year - hopefully.

Hacks are never expected, until they just happen. Halving has its own schedule set, every 4 years or 210.000 blocks and next one will be in mid 2020.
When predicting the price of BTC. We can only speculate with info we already have about future planned startups, projects, solutions, upgrades for bitcoin protocol - hoping that they will force price of BTC higher.

In bitcoin world for about a year and I understood that the price for changes with reasons that I don't know and don't understand. So I really have no idea about what the price will be in 2018. The one thing that I can predict that it's going to be not stable. It can jump between 1000 and 5000$.

In realistic view since the crash of Western countries interactive connection, it looks like BTC and precious metals of the like would follow with increases.

Bitcoin has a long future, although we are already seeing how fast the startups become successful. Cryptocurrency is known to be as big as Social Media is to the Internet... Don't regret not getting in early just like with that.

Maybe once segwit becomes active then there may be more adoption (or hacks of it as it's a new idea).
There weren't any major hacks last year (As far as I know) and o the price rocketed and the halving also influenced that. The price rocketed from that only and increased from ~£129 to ~£1000 while I was tracking it (shame I didn't buy any at 129 :( ) - I was waiting for it to fall below 100 again...

Since it is not that bad to have a guess and speculate with the price of bitcoin as long as it is realistic and more reasonable.

But I think bitcoin is going to reach $1,500 up to $2,000 and hopefully that can be seen earlier before this year ends.

Just like what happened this year of 2017 entered.
Well, bitcoin prices will definitely rise, although little by little, other than that, every end of the year, the price of bitcoin always showed incredible statistic. well, so there is a very high probability for bitcoin has a high price in 2018. I am sure, the price of bitcoin might be able to achieve $ 1,500 and above.
Yeah that's not new in bitcoin, it really shows a good ending per year so I do believe that something good is going to happen before the year ends.

I don't want to expect more because it might hurt my feeling. And possibility of reaching $1,500 is there and hope so it will happen.

But still bitcoin really does surprise us every time.

Some experts have said that bitcoin price would reach around $3000 which seems hard to be realistic. But most experts have said bitcoin price would definitely reach $2000 in 2018.Lots of companies are getting ready to adopt bitcoins.Blockchain technology is widely adopted nowadays by banks and even government sectors.More people are becoming familiar with bitcoins and demand for bitcoins is rapidly increasing. So, definitely bitcoin would cross the price range of $2000 by 2018.

Bitcoin user will increase from day to day and probably that's a good reason that we are going to have a steady, smooth and slowly increase in price each year.

There are many factors which can affect the price of bitcoin. First are the uncertain and unpredictable factors like as political and financial crisis in worldwide level, bankrun of a big well known bank with many customers and so on. Secondly, there are factors from bitcoin ecosystem like as the adoption of people and the debate about scalability. So the most, imo, optimistic scenario is a consensus and more bitcoin users where could lead the price in new all time high level

It's volatile but the overall price has been increasing only, if you look at the algorithmic curve, the price development is always a positive one. At this rate we should be above $2000 by 2018, things are looking good for the bitcoin holders.

Above quote clearly describes the dependence of bitcoin for all its growth requirements. So we cannot make calibrated prediction, it varies based on the support it gets. Right now I believe the price move will be good and will reach at least a minimum of $1500 by the following year start.

What I want from bitcoin in 2018 is for the price to climb higher and to get more bitcoins as much as I can. Higher price means more profit to anyone who holds more bitcoins. And we can compare it to a market frenzy who is also one good reason why market prices are also affected and product prices gets higher. Supply and demand and if that happens many people will benefit for a higher bitcoin price.

By the end of this year it might reach 9000 or 10000. But next year i think it will fall a bit and it might be like a small crash. Because most of the altcoin money is squized and invested on bitcoin because of the hype.

Bitcoin’s price is hard to predict because of several considerations of the high and low of its value including the traffic.  Hopefully this 2018 is better than the previous years. If it goes up it will be great, all of us will surely benefited. Lets wait and see how it works this year. We just need to be optimistic to have a positive outcome.

Judging by the state of things with Bitcoin, then simple optimism is not enough here. You only pay attention to the fact that the prices for Bitcoin have risen due to the general hype and popularity of the crypto currency. But along with this, the length of transactions and their cost have risen. This is already negative consequences.

Probably it will be over $25k each one of them, i am pretty sure that bitcoin won't have a huge increase during this year based on a percentage. A lot of people are expecting to see huge returns, like x3, x5 or x10, but that is not going to happen. Well, it all depends on the usage that bitcoin is going to have during this year.

Honestly its hard to predict because bitcoin is unpredictable and there's no assurance that the price could be rise more or not..
But i can give you my own prediction.. for now because of the movement of the price right now from last year and the 2015 movement.. we are seing more price fluctuate every year so i think the price could be touch at $1700 as maximum and playing around $1400-$1600 this is just my own speculation..
every people have different views about the price of bitcoin. Now a days the price of bitcoin is approx $14000 and this price will countinously increase because of the popularity and demand of bitcoin and it may reaches to approx $25000 at the end of this year 2018 but it may be not sure that the this price will achieve or not it depend on the the luck of the people.

That's totally nonsense you are writing here.
Ethereum is having massive issues. In terms of scaling even worse then Bitcoin. Furthermore their attack surface and bugs on a constant basis make this whole project just a big joke. In terms of price it's all wild speculation by noobs and wanna get rich quick guys. I don't blame them I ride the shitcoin wave too. But my goal is to make more BTC with it and some more fiat for daily costs in real life.
Ripple -> what a joke.
Other alts aren't more than pump and dumps. Now it's a bit of alt season again. As soon as Bitcoin starts to race again, shitcoins are going to get dropped like hot potatoes. So be sure to leave in time and not to be one of the dumb bagholders losing everything.

well, currentt prize is btc $13,610 as we know from the starting 2108 prize is going low but in few months it can be increase more, will have to wait only if we talks about other crypto prize also going there up and down but i think  btc prize will be high in couple of day's in a country when the government ban the btc it effects on everywhere in south korea everybody's selling btc i heard the news, but it mean not that we will disappointed from it, this time people have opportunity to buy btc to rock ahead because in coming soon time btc will grow up and the prize will be in 2018 more than $20000 this is my opinion.

The price will be quiet for the next few days, maybe we are going to see the price between $13,000 and $16,000, but that is pretty stable aswell, I am not in a hurry, in fact, i am pretty confident with what is really happening with bitcoin at the moment.
