Seems a little low for an RX 480 dual mining.  What intensity was your miner set at for the base lines?

RX480(8GB)-27mh/s little speed.  Manufacturer of memory on your graphics card? Hmm. My saph nitro+ 480(4GB) give 30mh/s (samsung memory).

It is an MSI Armor. Not sure memory yet. Installing one now to check.

Does 17.1.1 drivers do signature check? Can you change rom without any windows mods?

I still use 16.11.4 the latest one that does not need driver verification.
I guess I can push it to 29mh and 550mh DCR. @110W GPUz

lol modifying the bios will take you 5 minutes, its easy to do and fun to learn.  Msi armor is awesome, its easy.  copy 1500 straps to all higher straps.  Flash, up memory clock to 2000 for example with msi afterburner, reboot the rig, and you'll be doing 28.5mhs easy for 110watts.  You can bring the voltage down to 0.88 if you have a good asic quality.  I should start charging for custom bios too lol, anyways check out http://www.cryptominingtalk.com/flashing-bios/

1500 can be stable sometimes not. 1625 is much safer.
MIS gaming X is a bitch. simiarly any card with hynix memory. I had to make truly custom roms. I am not as good as the pros here but I have definitely decoded major part of the timing puzzle.

oh yeah dont get me wrong, making custom straps requires knowledge and talent and patience.  good for you :)  n00bs can just copy straps like the rest of us to get started :)

I get 27-28 also on 4 card. I just did the strap MOD 1750 -> 2000. Core 1266 and mem 2000. It does not go faster at mem 2250. If anyone else has info to squeeze more juice out it would be appreciated.

With the 1750 strap, 1150gpu and 2100mem you should get stable>29MH.

Sadly no. I tried with more power (core and power limit) and tried mem 2250. Can't get past 28 on all 4 cards

Which memstripe?

Try upping the clock slow from 2000 up in 25 steps.

Watch for memorry errors with hwinfo.

whats the best rx470 to get thats stable and easy to flash just wanting some advice thanks

new software for zcash for gave increase to +10% for RX 480 8 gb

I've some hex knowledge and HEX-edited a lot of cards for mining, this Asus can reach 29,5-30Mh easily (stable without mem errors) if anyone need help with it just drop a msg.

I have two of these cards. One works great with attached settings in WattTool, the second one not. It goes to 4000-5000 errors / second.

Great to see this cards also works very well :-)  It seems easier to find this cards on the market then the sapphire cards

I can't get past 27mhs (on the ethOS console) with the Strix.  Maybe I might need some help.

I hope you can solve it, if you do let us know. Then am i really convinced to also buy this asus cards :-)

Has anyone else come up with a solid modded rom for this Strix 480 8gb with samsung memory? I've got 6 of them im working on, just looking for something that already has the power settings adjusted for best power usage.

BBT on youtube posted the bios from the 6 card Asus RX 480 8GB OG rig he recently built. 27.5 MH/s each and 950W at the wall for 6 cards!

is there a big difference in performance between 4gb and 8gb for rx480

I have 6 rx 480 30.8mhs (samsung memory) each and 830watt at wall :P

I did do a backup of the BIOS. just a bit confuse if I did it wrongly or not.

I backup the bios with both GPZ and ATI and both are 256K. for the Strix 480.

But when I backup the Nitro 470, I notice using GPUZ, it is 256K but using ATI it is 512K. This makes me worries if I did it correctly with the 480.

Anyone have better hashrate for this Asus Strix RX480 8G?

I have Asus Dual RX 480, 30.1MH/s Samsung. And 2x Strix 470 29mH/s Samsung and Elpida.
It all depends on memory brand what you have.

Not every card. I had RX 480 Asus Dual O8G it was crashing even with stock bios and clocks :D

Undervolt -135 with Saphire tool
Claymore Dual mine. ETH plus Decred
ETH: 29.5 mhs
Drc: near 900
Power on saphire tool: 105W

No time to tune it further so just let it run n see how stable it is.

A little new to mining so forgive my ignorance. If I want to install 6 of the RX 480 Strix 8GB GPUs what kind of power supply would I need? Would 1000w work fine for this? Also does anyone have any recommendations about the type of motherboard that might work best for this configuration and is relatively reasonable for cost?

Why your memory clock is not about 2200 ? It's more important for ethereum mining. I really wonder it.

No it's not! Performance timings like Uber-Mix give higher memory bandwith than higher memory clocks.

I'm not sure if I'm doing things right, but every time I tested swap 1750 timing to 2000 or used Ubermix 3.1 timing to 2000. After the restart of the PC, Windows gets 640x480 resolution and what I need to do is uninstall Crimson (running v 17.4.3) and install it again. After that I can rewrite to its orginal rom. Not get this to work at all, running it on a quite old motherboard, could it be the reason?

Have two ASUS ROG STRIX RX 480 8GB, running around 24MH/s stock each and both are Samsung memory

I dont really see any further increase in hashrate when I increase the memory beyond 2000. it does add  bit but fell like some stability issue so I just happy with it and let it run as it is.
still looking at ways to reduce the power and see if it can go at around 90W will be idea

    I bought a Asus Strix 480 8GB which is Getting hot on ethereum Mining the highest temp was 89c (with using msi afterburner) which is very hot i think as 480 do not go above 80c? Normally it is hitting 79c to 85c and its temp bounces it is not constant and fans are very load.

So what should i do is it a problem or not? should i get it replaced?

What are you GPU temps like before bios and after bios?

And how i can upgrade the bios and which bios and settings will be perfect as i read your thread.

I've the same GOU, mine is around 64-77 Celsius, fan between 33-51% and running them Auto. Do you open case or a "normal"? I'm running in a Corsair Cube 540 with 3x120mm fans in front and two 140mm top and one back. Keeps it quite and cool to runt stock or overclocked in Afterburn.

Well, GPU can handle like 100° but  not for 24/7! You need temp under 70° for long time or under 80° should be fine but not that safe.
Undervolting will help to lower temp.
Also you need other fans not just those on GPUs, I have 2x 20cm for suction and 4x 12cm for exhaust. I need inside more fans, the gpu in x16 slot and CPU with stock cooler make lot of heat and my old PC case have only 1x 80mm and 1x 92mm fans... I've attached 1x 12cm and it's much better now. But still need improvement.

Are you mining Ethereum? and when mining on Asus Strix 480 8gb your highest temp is %51? So are you using Afterburner settings for fans? or nothing catalyst settings.

Forgot to mention that i have not modified the bios yet, still running on default bios So after modifying bios will it bring down the GPU Temp?

Ethereum yes, temp at most 77 for a peak otherwise it keeps around 64-68C with max fan speed at 51% when it hits over 72C for those few short times. At the moment only Crimson but with Afterburn it is the same.

Currently not even undervolting but keeps a bit cooler it I does.

Have you modified the bios? if Yes please mention the details as currently my card has stock bios and what is your room temp, my room temp is around 25c to 30c night and in night it is hitting 83c mostly and i am using afterburner with it.

Undervolting and underclocking will help you with temps, but without additional fans it will be still pretty bad.

Read my guide! You need apply patch.

Just kind of need to know, which is the best driver  software version of the rx480 from amd for best use with modding and modded Asus strix rx 480 bios and mining?

but maybe on here you guys can offer some help.
I have the 480 strix 8G with Samsung memory.
I've tried the ubermix 3.1 but my hashes actually went down with it. I get the best when I just copy 1750 to 2000. But I have to have my core at 1410 mem at 2100 and target power +50% (with asus tweak) to get 28 mhs on ethereum. Gpuz says 200w for just the rx 480..
I've been playing with my settings for days now and this is the only way I can get 28 and I know I shouldn't be pulling that much power.

I have not yet managed to my bios yet, but I do have the same card has you, just using afterburner at the moment.

Settings, +0 (zero) target power
1133 core
2250 memory

I get 27.5 mhs

I think the core is too high and the target power.

With those settings I get 4 mhs

I'm not a bios modder, but in the short term have you considered flashing it back to the original and testing settings with trixx or afterburner, using the settings I use.

I just did, and my drivers crashed. I lowered the mem to 2200 and I got 23mhs..
So what I've realized is the core affects my speed the most and I need a higher core than everyone else needs.. and it doesn't really make sense to me...

That's a low result from a RX480, you should be getting 30 to 32MH/s mining Ethash algorithm, it's probably that the GPU is getting way too hot, if this is it then it will lose its hashing speed for sure, you can get thermal pads on the memories on the gpu, not that hard and change the thermal paste too

I have tried many bios mod that are available in anoraks forum some of them are okay but most of the mod there brick my gpu, I was able to bring it back in the factory mod but the code error 43 is my unsolve problem. Anyway my asus strx rx 570 4gb with the 1119 1900 mem clock/core got 27.8-28MH
