They will start shipping 'some' Jalapeno this week and them more as chips roll in. Singles, SC and Minirig seems sort of delayed waiting for new motherboard designs.

Yep so far, but I am still hoping to get a Jalapeno within 2 weeks with a 10k order nr IF they are truly building as many as they can as chips come in. They did mention 400/day as a previous estimate and if that is Jalapeno only they should be able fill sub 20k orders in under a month. Exciting times.. Maybe :)

thats 400 units a day divided between all 4 versions but ill let you know what happens one of my first orders is a jalapeno and its order #33** :D should be amongst the first either way

True, but since they are not yet assembling minirigs OR Single SC/SC (due to them needing new PCB) from what I understand they will only be assembling and shipping Jalapeno. Which could mean that it's 400 jalapeno/day.

The impression I get from that post is that they might, possibly, ship out a few (less than 10) units. Probably the only working ones they have, and probably so they can buy more time because they know the recipients will jump on here and sing BFL's praises. Which boosts pre-orders, which gives them more money to play with, and buys them time.

Prepayment is the only method by which your preorder is entered into the queue.

Don't waste your money. Even if these guys aren't a scam, they are still completely unprofessional.

I'll believe it when I see the mining difficulty bolt forward immensely... Otherwise, it's developers getting theirs to maintain the hype of custom FPGA rigs masquerading as ASICs...

The problem is this is what they've been saying for the last three months. The only difference now is that they mentioned it would only be the Jalapeno's shipping, instead of promising shipping for all products like before.

I think BFL will produce, but they've been lying about their progress. Any good team of Engineers would have had the power sorted out months ago and the chips fabbed correctly given they've already produced hardware in the past.

If you get your Jalapeno soon, I'd like to hear about it.

Sounds plausible but then again it would be too late for it to gain confidence.

By the time you get your 5GH/s model, I estimate the difficulty going up to 100mil, where it won't even be profitable  :-\

I have one on order. I consider it burnt money and if I happen to receive one in the mail someday I'll consider it a pleasant surprise. Hopefully the difficulty won't be six billion gazillion by then.

Interesting.  I have heard a lot about this company.  Not a lot good.

But wow, if you get those speeds with what they advertise.  That is simply amazing.

I'll believe they have a product when it's in hands and there are reviews/impressions available from regular people.  From what I can tell it's just a lot of hype so far.  Hopeful that they deliver to people though.

Is there any estimate on when a Jalapeno 4.5 would be shipped if it was preordered in early February? It's hard to tell. I'd be willing to buy one of these preorders off eBay if I had any idea when it would be shipped.   There's so many posts with conflicting info out there that I can't decide whether it's worth it or not.

if you wanna be scammed, make it well, go for an Avalon batch #2 or #3, spend your $40,000 and be happy

yeah basically 99% of ebay posts claiming a low pre-order is a scam. Any legit one is usually a pre-order from feb-march and by the time they get those, might as well just pre-order now and wait the extra few weeks it would take for them to get to you.

Should be quite interesting to see how many dev unit's they actually end up shipping out...and what kind of timeline they will estimate before actually shipping en-masse for those individuals that got on the proverbial bandwagon late (i.e. Jan. of this year) and if they'll actually be able to produce upwards of 400 units or even better orders per day...should see an incredible increase in difficulty over the next 6 months if they actually start churning these puppies out once they've taken care of the majority of the outstanding power-regulation issues...should be one heckuvaride ;)

The thing is this - do you hedge your bets.

Place an order - pay through paypal - If they have not shipped within 40 days dispute it with paypal (you have 45 days) they will refund your cash after about 15 days - then place order again - repeat process.

Considering other companies are now shipping them - I don't believe they are a scam. Look at Microsoft they have billions of pounds and their products can also be delayed.

I have my own reservations with paypal. Last time someone installed a damn trojan on my mom's computer (her "computer guy" installed a "Free DVD burning software"), they were such a pain in the ass on the phone when refunding my stolen money...

I have this feeling paypal, with their attitude, will bite me in the ass on second order :D

That thing does not work. Josh kind of admitted it. It might be why they haven't shipped. I mean, think about it. Calculate what ridiculous power this is going to eat.

He said something about 195 watts at a 50gh/s Single. If you multiplay that by 30, you get about 6000 watts.

I don't want to scare anyone's ass off, but at this point, this blows almost anyone's electricity supply. We have worked in these levels a lot at LAN parties. Try getting 8 enthusiasts in your house, have a big TV, your refrigerator and then switch all the enthusiast computers to maximum graphics. at least in my place, my breaker's don't like that at all :D

Then think about the HEAT of 6000 watts. I mean, if you put water cooling on this, you might be able to heat 3-4 flats with it.

Nope, I tell you, that Minirig is what does not work out. The rest is fine, you can deal with 50 watts on a Jalapeno or even 200wats on a Single. But 6000 on the minirig, fuck it. No way. That thing should be used as whirlpool heater. If it works, it might buy the whirlpool anyway.

I hope they will ship it with the power supply. When I preordered almost a year ago it would run from the USB buss and it would be half the size.  :-\

btl is not new in making mining hardwares, there are some vids about jalapenos works, just check btl fb profile.

6kw is not a huge amount - a Cisco 6500 series switch can utilise 2 * 3kw power supplies

Most people have 30 amp ring circuits in their houses anyway - electric showers are often around 10kw.

Doubtful that they will be shipped out in any real capacity.  Have a feeling that Bitfounder will more consistently ship chips out than BFL.

Yeah, you will make tons of money with a Jalapeno, you will be able to buy peanuts almost once a week.

BFL is ButterFly Labs. One of the major producers in the ASIC market (used to produce FPGA's). The Jalapeno is one of their ASIC miners that they are selling, which being one of their smaller devices, they promised to start shipping first, possibly this week apparently.

If this actually happens I'll eat my shoe.

All you need to do is hook it up to a stirling engine and baam you get some of that wattage back :D

They don't suck in terms of the hashrate now, but once the difficulty goes up and the more powerful rigs come out, I imagine it will only do so much.

Unfortunately I got in late (last week).  Happy to hear they might be shipping soon, if they do I'll rest easier at night.  The fact that the Jalas are shipping sooner would also make me happy, I have nightmares thinking about what the singles and minirigs will do to the hash rate.  Don't mean to be a jerk, but once those things start coming online, the jalas will pretty much be worthless.

Nice! I think a lot of people thought this wasn't ever going to happen!

They've only sent out a couple to reviewers according to Jody at BFL.

There is no official count on the number of PAID orders.  That said, many orders likely have multiple units purchased, so it's impossible to say.  If I were to guess, I'd say around 20,000 units.  Which is about as good as anyone else's guess.

One thing to keep in mind, especially with the Jalapeno's is that many owners will quickly resell their units on the used market after a short time when they realize that it's not a money printing machine, and to recoup their investment from people who are eager to join in the ASIC "Gold Rush" and aren't aware that they'll make $1 a day as the difficulty skyrockets.  Before too long, since these items are not multipurpose like a graphic card, you will find these selling for pennies on the dollar because they'll be effectively useless.

Once 4.5Gh/s is small potatoes (i.e.: about the time these ship enmasse) At least there's plenty of "alt-coins" to go around.

i would say that jalapenos is going to be sold for at least 2x  his paid price just because without sure about other prodcts, it would be more profitable to use more jalapenos than 1 higher performance butterfly

So how long before an actual customer gets the first "production" BFL ASIC...

saw a video at codinginmysleep of a demo model.  To me this doesn't really mean they're shipping.  For all we know its the same rig from BFL's video, just in a different casing.

anyways, I still haven't ordered but I spoke to Dave at BFL and he just reiterated the shipping time from the website (50GH/s unit), wouldn't give me the price on the 1500GH/s model.

it could have taken BFL this long just to get 400 produced.  I doubt that they will be able to meet their full backlog by the end of this year.  My guess is that if they don't shutter their doors by the end of the year that they will eventually get everyone's "preorder" by the end of 2015.
