The initial research phase of Nxt 2.0 has passed. Pooling their experience of working on Nxt 1.0 for over two years, Core devs Jean-Luc, Riker, ScripterRon and Petko have already started the first phase of coding for Nxt 2.0.
Coding Nxt 2.0 will take time. The Core Team does not want to launch an overhyped and half-finished system, but wants to make sure the new platform holds up to the high standards you have come to expect from Nxt 1.0. We consider this  to be the de-facto reference standard of stability and performance that a blockchain platform should adhere to.

Initial coding has started a few weeks ago and is expected to take at least the rest of 2016.

Testnet
At the time of writing, the Core Team aims to launch the first version of the Nxt 2.0 Testnet very early in 2017. During the Testnet phase of the software, there will be many rewrites and tweaks based on user feedback and continuous use of the platform. The Testnet phase will last for at least six months to make absolutely sure the first live version will be safe and trustworthy at launch.

Mainnet
At the time of writing, it is estimated that the first live version of Nxt 2.0 will launch in Q3 of 2017.

Nxt Features

Nxt 2.0 will retain ALL Features of the Nxt 1.0 platform.

Below you will find an outline on how each current feature will be ported to the new IGNIS Child Chain at launch.

Account Numbers
Account numbers are preserved. Since the mapping from secret phrase, to public key, to account id will not change, your 1.0 pass phrase will correspond to the account with the exact same number on 2.0. Existing 1.0 users will be able to login to Nxt 2.0 with their existing passphrase.
The Account table will be global, and each account can have balances in any of the Child Chain tokens, as well as in IGNIS.

Assets
Existing Nxt 1.0 Assets or Asset Transaction History will NOT be ported directly to the IGNIS Child Chain.
Since the Nxt 1.0 blockchain will continue to exist, the Core Team believes it is better to leave the choice of when and how to move to Nxt 2.0 in the hands of the Asset Issuers themselves.
This is probably best done by burning existing Assets, requiring them to be sent to the issuer account in order to issue new Nxt 2.0 Assets in exchange. Or it could be done by each asset issuer declaring a height at which they will take a snapshot of 1.0 asset balances, and then re-distributing those on 2.0.
Assets will be universal on Nxt 2.0, which means that for any Asset, regardless on which Child Chain it was originally issued, any Child Chain that will allow its trade will be able to trade it.

MS Currencies
MS Currencies themselves are also universal, and will be possible to trade on any Child Chain. MS Currency names and codes existing in Nxt 1.0 WILL be ported to the IGNIS Child Chain, including the currency balances for all accounts. Their transaction history will not be.
The Core Team will provide support to any MS currencies that want to transition to a Child Chain, i.e. start a Child Chain with a token distribution based on this MS currency.
MS Currency names and codes will be unique within Child Chains only. This will eliminate the possibility of name squatting across chains. The proposed format for MS Currency names will be CURRENCYNAMECODE.CHILDCHAINCODE, for instance ELEMS.IGNIS.

Arbitrary Messages
No Messages will be ported from 1.0 to 2.0

Tagged Data
No Tagged Data will be ported from 1.0 to 2.0

Digital Goods
No products or sales will be ported from 1.0 to 2.0

Aliases
Existing 1.0 Nxt Aliases will be ported to the IGNIS Child Chain. Just like with MS Currency names and codes, alias names will be unique within their Child Chain only. Globally, aliases will be appended with a Child Chain suffix, to signify which chain they belong to. By default, alias name not appended with a Child Chain suffix will be assumed to belong to the IGNIS Child Chain.

Voting
Voting will be available on each Child Chain.
Open or finished Polls will NOT be ported to the 2.0 chain. Running polls will need to finish on the Nxt 1.0 chain.

Phasing
Phasing will be available on each side chain.
Current Account Control Setting will NOT be ported to the new IGNIS Child Chain.

Leasing
Account Leasing will be retained, but on the Ardor Main Chain only, as only IGNIS balances are used to provide blockchain security (forge). Existing 1.0 Leases will not be transferred but will have to be recreated.

Plugins
Nxt 2.0 will support Plugins, but existing Plugins will need fixes to work with the new Nxt 2.0 platform.

Nxt Old

What will happen to 1.0?
The Nxt Core Devs are committed to providing support, bug fixes and any possible emergency updates for the Nxt 1.0 chain.
It will not be necessary to burn your 1.0 coins to receive 2.0 tokens, and you are free to trade your Ardor Tokens which you will receive after the snapshot period has ended.

The Core Team wants to make migrations to Nxt 2.0 as easy as possible, so is allowing a wide window for making this move.
In short, nothing will change for Nxt 1.0, except that active work on new features will come to a halt. The platform will be actively maintained, so users will still benefit from a secure and well-kept platform.
The Core Team will also provide help and support for users that wish to move their enterprises from Nxt 1.0 to 2.0.

Nxt Token Distribution

Nxt 2.0’s prime innovation is to split the blockchain into a main chain that is used for consensus creation only, and multiple child chains that keep separate ledgers of transactions, each child chain using its own coin/token..

This means that there will initially be two distributions of tokens: one for the Ardor main chain token, and one for the token for the first child chain, IGNIS, to be launched.

The Core Developers recognise the tremendous contributions of the investors and holders of the original Nxt 1.0, without whom Nxt 2.0 would not be possible, and have decided to grant them exclusive rights to these new tokens.

It is important to note that Nxt 2.0 does not mean Nxt 1.0 will cease to exist! The Core Team is committed to continue providing support to Nxt 1.0 for at least one year after the Nxt 2.0 launch, and possibly further.

There will be no burning of Nxt 1.0 needed in order to receive either Ardor or IGNIS Tokens.

Distribution:

Ardor (Main Chain Tokens)
All NXT holders are eligible to receive Ardor Tokens at launch of the Mainnet.
Shortly after the release of Nxt 1.9, (intended to be the last major release on the Nxt 1.0 branch) the Nxt Software will start taking periodic snapshots of all users’ NXT balances, at regular intervals (most likely once an hour), for a period of three months.
The NXT balances in each account will be averaged over this full three month period, and at the end all accounts will be automatically credited with a token representing their Ardor holdings, issued as an Asset on the Nxt asset exchange.
This Ardor Asset will be freely tradeable.
The distribution of the real Ardor coins (to be done at the launch of the Nxt 2.0 Mainnet in Q3 2017) will be based on the ownership of Ardor Assets on the 1.9 blockchain, taken at the point of time when the 2.0 Genesis block is created, shortly before that launch.

IGNIS (Transaction Tokens for the IGNIS Child Chain)
The distribution of the IGNIS Tokens will be based on each account’s NXT holdings at the time of the Nxt 2.0 Genesis block creation.
At the time of writing, the Core Devs have decided to credit 50% of these holdings to each new IGNIS Account, while reserving 50% of IGNIS for funding of the development team, business development and other operations that will need funding to make the Nxt 2.0 project a success.
The Core Devs acknowledge that not including this step in the distribution of 2013 was a mistake in the first place, which has left the project chronically underfunded. As a donation based model is not sustainable, they decided to opt for the allocation of 50% for project development and sustainability.

This is exactly like Ardor. I was holding a good amount of nxt on the exchange to get free ardor. And the price of nxt dumped hard, instead of going up.

Even after getting free ardors, i lost money. They are doing this again with another scam named Ignis. Don't fall for it. The big whales will just dump on you, while you hold your worthless NXT tokens to get worthless Ignis.

NXT AND ARDOR are very serious long term platforms that are performing well. I hold a NXT wallet and have never had any problems with it. I only have a little bit of NXT but I am interested to purchase more and will try this week to buy at least 50 1-- more NXT. Ignis will be the first child chain for ARDOR platform so will be interested to see who uses it.

I am currently holding only Ardor. Would you guys sell them for Nxt in order to receive Ignis or would you just hold them for a potential upside?

If you have a mynxt.info wallet, at the end of October snapshot you will be given 0.5 Ignis for each 1 NXT you keep in the wallet.

Ignis will not appear as an asset in your online wallet, because: 1) it is not an asset, it is a childchain currency on the Ardor platform; 2) it will be distributed at snapshot time, at the end of October. You'll need to use Ardor wallet to see/use it (yet to be released) or perhaps mynxt.info wallet will be upgraded to support Ardor/Ignis, which is known only by mynxt.info devs.

TL;DR if you keep NXT at mynxt.info wallet, wait for October to get IGNIS.

The snapshot will automatically distribute IGNIS to all accounts that hold NXT on the date of snapshot.
The scheme of address generation from passphrase is the same on Ardor, so you will use the same passphrase as the one you use in Nxt to open your Ardor account to find IGNIS there after the snapshot.

You have to reinstall die NXT client and install it as full node. Scheduling transactions is only available to users of the full client. After you have installed the full node you need to download the full blockchain (downloads automatically). Once the blockchain is downloaded you can schedule transaction. The Blockchain is less than 3 GB I think, downloading takes a while since it is rather slow. At least it was slow on my PC.
You basically have 2 options getting Ignis.
Buy Ignis during the ICO with your NXT at a fixed rate (depends on the round of the ICO)
Keep your NXT and wait for the ARDOR Snapshot. In this case your get 0.5 IGNIS for 1 NXT in your wallet. The rate at the ICO is better but this way you get IGNIS and keep your NXT.
Since ARDOR and IGNIS is kinda supposed to replace NXT (as far as I understood it), the value of NXT will be hard to predict once the ARDOR network with IGNIS starts.

You dont need to perform the "Scheduling transactions" trick to buy IGNIS. You just open your normal wallet (or go to https://nxt.jelurida.com/index.html) and click on the IGNIS ICO buttom. You can buy IGNIS in less than 2min.

The Ardor Genesis Snapshot will be performed at least two weeks after the end of the last JLRDA sale round.
For 1 JLRDA token the participants in the ICO will receive 1 IGNIS coin at the time of the Ardor Genesis Snapshot."

You have(had) 2 ways to get ignis.
1. Buy JLDRA tokens with NXT via the NXT wallet which automatically will convert to IGNIS tokens after the genesis snapshot.(however the ICO has ended so this is N/A)
2. Hold NXT in your NXT wallet and your NXT will automatically give you IGNIS tokens at the snapshot date.

When is the snapshot? How much longer do we wait? I bought 3 BTC worth of NXT for this and its worth 3k USD now. I really want to salvage something

So I got a message from nxt today saying they’re closing the nxt wallet and to get funds out before end of month. If I can’t hold nxt in the wallet, where do I put it so I can still get ignis. Anyone know? This is soooo disorganized.

Jelurida didn't stated anything concerning hot wallets on exchanges and other places.

As far as i remember those who held NXT on poloniex and other big exchanges  last year, also received their Ardor tokens.


Why would holding NXT for IGNIS be different ?

First, we haven't received any confirmation, that doesn't mean it won't happen it  just means that exchanges haven't said anything.

Second, the original Ardor snapshot was received in their NXT wallets, this is different from assets being created on an entirely different block chain. It isn't the same, but it also shouldn't be that hard, just different.

I am waiting eagerly for Bittrex and Polo statements about IGNIS/ARDOR snapshot.

For "air drops" you always need to keep coins in a wallet you control the key of (untill the snapshot happens). Exchanges won't distribute anything to you.

I dont know what exchanges like poloniex/bittrrex are going to do with this airdrop in particular, but the best option are always wallets

• Or is any trading on NXT frozen and if so, until when?

Why NXT has frequent ups and downs?

Not entirely sure myself, but I'll share my experience with exchanges giving out based on snapshots style airdrops: they always freeze deposits and withdrawals until the network is stable, or snapshot is confirmed. I don't think trading itself will be frozen since they can rely on the snapshot and just distribute based on that.

The same will apply for Ignis, as soon as credited. They are just crediting, and assuming the system accounting will be enough. Trading should happen almost immediately, but not for deposits and withdrawals.

I don't know if this will actually happen, but if it IS frozen, it's just temporary. So after, you can sell.

On a sidenote; I was thinking of selling after snapshot too, but actually I think it'll be wiser to hold. It will dip, but will come back much stronger. NXT has a great future imho

Guys I am trying to sync my NXT wallet after a couple of years as i've had no need to until this aidrop thing came up.

Anyway, i've downloaded the latest windows version and its syncs but every 15 minutes or so just loses its connection and doesn't re-connect.  the only way i can get it to re-connect is shutting it down and re-launching the server.

I get maybe 5000 blocks and then it stops.  I've re-started it like 15-20 times already.

i've tired 2 different pcs, same issue of disconnecting still happens.

Ugh i hope this thing pumps before the snapshop for the love of god.

Anyways lol at the bittrex dump just after 6pm. The 6pm was the "get your wallet transfer done by" warning time, not the time of the snapshot which is based on the block height.

This news has increased nxt price and a lot of people are enthusiastic about this forking, according to them IGNIS is going to worth a lot in the future, and I am also excited to see this pumping because so many exchanger support this forking

It did increase the NXT price but there has been a big dump afterwards even before the snapshot had happened. And not all were that enthusiastic as they got in when NXT was about 10k satoshis and now it dumped on them with a 10% loss. Infact, in the whatsapp group I am in, some people were asking if this dumping was of NXT was worth the IGNIS airdrop they want to get.

IGNIS should be a decent token because it is going to be the first child chain for the ardor platformk but the NXT price has tanked and will tank further. I only had 300 NXT and kept it for the airdrop so am hoping to receive my 150 IGNIS today in the NXT wallet. Let's see when it arrives and what it will be worth. Really, i don't know anything about NXT.  But I bought them at 0,00008000sts, simply because it dropped 30% compared to yesterday, I continue to bought when the price down 0,00007000sts, and continue bought when 0,00006500sts. I think any crypto down more than 40% will return strongly, I have a little anxiety plus a little scared. Because I put all the assets into the NXT.

When the prices are calculated, it seems to be good decision to take IGNIS. However, price will significantly decrease after the airdrop I guess.

NXT always have been chose en soi so to say. It is interesting but many years ago when I just came to forum I have received an airdrop of NXT (it was at that time heavily criticized for for elitism) and have forgotten the password. ;D
And this fork can be good for people with enough capital who can hodl NXT for long or even by it on lows. For others it is for now $1 to 1$ exchange.

But the question is, do we expect NXT to eventually go back up to say 7500, 10,000, 14,000 sats and if so what our are predictions.. as I expect a lot will have lost a lot of money that they don't want to just hand over.. Most would HODL if they knew there's a chance the value will rise back up.

NXT was only 955 sats last month so it'll probably drop to that then we'll all be sad :(

In my bittrex account at this time (5 January 12:47 UTC) bittrex dont give the afferent numbers of IGNIS but I think will be in few hours or maybe few days, because at block of snapshot I was holder of some dozens of NXT. Will await.

I think it's a good idea for a new coin, by giving coin IGNIS for free will attract a lot of devotees. one of them I bought NXT and get 27 IGNIS.

Like you,  I and more we bought Nxt before the snapshot in 28 december in order to receive 0.5 IGNIS for every 1 NXT, but until now the bittrex exchange not give us nothing. I understand the exchanges need some time to implement the new coin, and will await because in posible in this days exchanges can start the IGNIS distribution.

My opinion - you should have sold 50% of your NXT for ~10k satoshis right before IGNIS distribution.
Now NXT price 3.2k satoshis looks not much promising.

I also bought NXT over 10k and I expect to recover with IGNIS. In the future in the medium and long term, I think IGNIS will be worth more than just after the distribution. However, we are always tempted to sell immediately to have liquid btc to invest in other coins.

Bad news! Today, the Ignis price is below 1$, as the distribution of ignis has not begun. As you say, everyone will want to sell to recover from the loss. I think that if we lost it, it would be good to keep Ignis in the hope that his price will rise to the point where we can get something extra.

guys do not lose ponies immediately, there's nothing to be afraid of and panic too. You have to wait at least six months and you will see the real price for this coin. Unambiguously go up.

It seems to me that IGNIS very negatively influences to the  NEXT. The price has fallen very much and I do not see an uptrend in the near future. It already starts to frighten me, even though I believe in NEXT.

I agree with you, best strategy for NXT was 50% sell + 50% hold for IGNIS airdrop. Right before IGNIS distribution, NXT price was ~10 000 satoshis, now it is dumped x3.5, right to 2900 satoshis...

Whales are manipulating NXT right now,transaction slowed too much we expected the drop at 1636363 but it is so delayed because there is huge btc coming in.

It was expected to be dumped hard.
I still have thousands of Nxt, which is worth holding long term.
Ardor/Ignis will be very big in 2018.

Then they should have told holders of NXT to get a wallet and keep the coins there. I think the exchanges are going to have to be regulated or hopefully a central, decentralized exchange comes around. If the exchanges didn't exist then there wouldn't be so much government scrutiny.

The snapshot was taken last month. If you had Nxt in your wallet then, you should have gotten your Ignis.
But now, you can't get Ignis by hold Nxt anymore.
If you don't like these exchanges, you can wait for bittrex, which should be ready soon.

IGNIS is indeed true is already out and it really makes crying because after the appearance of the IGNIS, the NXT then became increasingly fall and even the price of IGNIS itself is almost the same with the NXT. the IGNIS makes a really sad  :D :D :D

be patient. ignis price will be rise.....i bought 7000 ignis at 5000 rupiah (around 0,39 usd) price....and it's very cheap i think....i know how indonesian people trade...there is always a panic sell when btc down so.....its time to buy ignis  with cheaper price....once bittrex open market...it will dump first but it will be recovery after that....just like what happen with another airdrop (ardor, bch, etc)

Seems like bittrex is done,they scammed us they announced it first that we will receive the drop on january first, but didnt happen 20days have passed no announcement or any status update today i will move my holdings to binance which has more reliable and has less fees than this crap exchange.

Yes whales are the ones who manipulated so they can keep the price of NXT low so they can buy as many as they can. Even though the volume of NXT at the time before the snapshot is very high NXT should atleast reach around 16k-20k sats but whales stopped it.

Bittrex is a scam 3weeks have passed but still we dont have the promised IGNIS drop,i already moved my holdings to binance.

holding nxt and getting the ignis is a good thing because we get extra coins. but there is a market that still has not given certainty related to additional ignis coin ie bittrex. currently nxt and ignis prices have decreased hopefully can rise to high level.

NXT dropped doesnt happened in bittrex its been 3weeks since Bittrex romised the we will receive the IGNIS but it didnt happen,so i decided to switch a better exchange than bittrex which is binance.

Don't worry Jerulida and Bittrex already gave out statement about IGNIS they already resolved the problem so we will expect soon that IGNIS will list on Bittrex exchange and for those who held NXT at the time of snapshot will be rewarded their IGNIS.

Airdrop is always good, but I do not want to take risks by buying NXT. I know NXT has a lot of great potential going forward, but I prefer not to buy it.

This is slowly but steadily becoming a joke. I had NXT in my wallet on HitBTC at the time of the fork. No IGNIS have been distributed a month now after the fork, and the price has been falling steadily. Really upset about the way this is goind - especially the intransparant communication. I am not even sure where the fault lies - the exchange or the dev team?

Hitbtc is becoming a really bad exchange. It has been 6 weeks since the snapshot/ airdrop, and still no tokens have been credited. How can you trust such an exchange with your money?

Update: 4 1/2 months and still no tokens credited from the December airdrop on HitBTC...

I love crypto because I was able to quit my job (which I hated) and gained freedom. My income from crypto now many times more than it was. I think that many people have changed their lives for the better when they came to crypto.

maybe hope for the price of ignis, at least they can get their capital back. that is what my friend told me, he bought NXT at high price and hope the price of ignis to get his capital back

I am on Bittrex with NXT additionally, it is the principal Ardor tyke chain so I have high expectations - The NXt group has been around for along time so I am will hold regardless of what - and need to glance back at the Ardor chain dispatch next July with a major grin, I will by and by search for banks to take my IGNIS as insurance to dispatch a U.S Brick and Mortar business I have been taking a shot at ( I need to keep them however), I adore seeing the ascent of IGNIS cost after the preview - And I intend to continue exchanging NXT as long as I can, I wager we exchange until the point when we kick the bucket.
