Seems BU has an uphill battle if it wants to succeed... Doesn't seem likely.

Yet we will still continue to see new "BU is winning, hard fork imminent!!" threads spamming the board every 4 hours for the next week probably. Facts no longer matter, only the loudest proclamation matters, it would seem. It's a wonder how some people can still tie their shoes.

Edit: in reality, I don't think people are stupid, I do think that a lot of misinformation is attributed to the English to every-other-language barrier. Much is lost in translation especially when using idioms, which happen to be heavily utilized in news headlines.

If you put precisely 4 people on ignore, you'll see absolutely no threads or responses in this regard and would wonder why anyone would consider BU a realistic topic of discussion. Hint none of them have posted in this thread yet, but they'll be here shortly.

Cool, Kolivas in the house. Thanks for the tip. My morbid curiosity will probably continue to get the best of me though.  :D

Maybe my mention of the 4 special trolls forum members has made them NOT post as a way of trying to prove... something?

I posted a link to my thread in a few of theirs already and still no reply LOL

Maybe we should have a sticky topic for core vs bu with updated daily stats  ;D

From those graphs, the only one that is representative is the hashrate one. Both are close... and both have not enough support.

The node count, etc. is cheaply fakeable, and has little value IMHO

This is different, I'd say it's based on the thought that the fork will never happen rather than whether traders support it.  Imaginary BU coins obviously won't trade as high as Bitcoin unless they're being pumped by a few whales who want Bitcoin to be centralised like Jihan Wu (and I'm surprised that they're not being pumped but I guess they're focusing on screwing over small miners).

Still obvious that BTC is far superior to BTU though, since no one actually trusts Bitcoin Unlimited enough to run nodes from them with all their incompetence and bugs.

I was kind of worried for a while but now I don't think there is anyway for BU to succeed. This doesn't mean that SegWit will succeed either. BU is just dangerous to the success of Bitcoin, hopefully they will give up and stop pushing shitty code and centralization. I could get behind a non-core Bitcoin if it was good and it had real community support, however all we have is Core ATM.

Well that news (f2pool going to SW) might resolve this, I would hope so.  Then we can move on.

To the next BTC crisis du jour.  Looks like Bit_Happy has had it right in his thread (can we do without the drama and BS in Bitcoin).

A little bit of stability at this point would probably encourage more to use Bitcoin.

The market price of fell because people have begun to take seriously the possibility of hard forking.
And Antpool would go his way if there was no arbitrary, insufficient, and corrupt block limit.

OP's posts

support levels: many companies dont actually handle bitcoin transactions formally... they do advocacy, education consultancy stuff
EG
bitcoin academy.. are an Bitcoin education, lobbying and advocacy, and not really a node running needed entity.
bitcoin embassy.. are an Bitcoin education, lobbying and advocacy, and not really a node running needed entity.
bitcoin twelve seven.. a facebook group
some others are just deep in the blockstream/DCG pockets. so that poll is not a accurate presentation of anything important.

nodes: 5601.. lol.. um thats not segwit nodes thats all core nodes even the UNDECIDED nodes.. again not representative to the segwit poll
eg
1   /Satoshi:0.14.0/   1683 (24.72%)
2   /Satoshi:0.13.1/   1295 (19.02%)
3   /Satoshi:0.13.2/   990 (14.54%)
=3968
= 1633 incorrect 'votes' on coindance

mining: 8mb are compatible with EC but SW is not compatible with EC or 8mb.. EC is actually higher then you think

Hello franky1, been waiting for you :)

My post is Core vs. BU, not SegWit.

Personally, I don't care if SegWit gets support or not, I care that BU dies because it is bad for Bitcoin and bad for my investment. I'm not sure about SegWit but I'm damn sure about BU.

When a better development team comes around with a better plan and coding I'll be the first to sign their praises but until then, I'll stick with Core and whatever shit they come up with because I don't have a reasonable choice atm.

you do realise one thing though.. sorry to burst your bubble

core= TIER network. centralised and god complex

other implementations=PEER network of multiple diverse implementations. decentralised same level playing ground.

core can if they wanted to keep to bitcoins ethos, easily, spite their own ego's and add a few lines of code and be part of the peer network that keeps everything diverse decentralised and no one in control.

or
core can carry on with all their deadline, threats and bip9,uasf and pow algo blackmails. and turn bitcoin into a centralised bank2.0 with their LN endgoal

forget the employee of the month as a reason to support core. think long term about BITCOIN not a team that grabbed onto bitcoin in 2013

remember core did not exist in 2009-2012.. core did not invent bitcoin.
remember the employee of the months excuse to love core is temporary, devs move on.
even matt corrallo who was part founder of blockstream is moving on.
if you cant see the how temporal blockstream devs are once their job is done (fibre ringfencing the network)
then you care less about bitcoin and are betting your house on a few employed devs

Announcing that BU is winning will not trick peeple into believing that it is the right information.
Until the consensus hasn't been made whether to chose Core or BU when it comes in whose controlling bitcoin. So i guess this spam will continue to spread in bitcointalk boards.

The statistical data have shown that bitcoin unlimited has more supporters than the core developers. But there are still more than 20+% of the miner community who hasn't made a a choice and eventually as long as the votes were not cast there is still hope for the core developers to catch up with bitcoin unlimited.

BU will lead to 100% mining centralization with control of Bitcoin flowing through China or it at least appears that way, with most mining equipment and mining being produced in China. This worries me more than anything else and should worry you too if you believe in a decentralized Bitcoin.

It remains to be seen if Core/SegWit/Blockstream will lead to any centralization like you say. For this to happen Blockstream would have to be the only player allowing off-chain transactions.

Side-chains allow for multiple off-chain implementations for off-chain transactions, which could lead to competing LN type services, not what I would call centralization.

do yourself a big favour..

for bitcoin issues.. stay away from reddit

for real life news.. stay away from FOX news..

instead read the source material read the actual data, stats, and real info that has not ben twisted. and whatever you do. dont base opinion on a human. base it on what it ACTUALLY does beyond the over promised sales pitches of corporate (social) media script writers.

it will help you out in life
all i hear from the core blockstreamists league is to defend king gmaxwell and to be racist against anything not under gmaxwells CTO governance contract

move yourself out of that cabin fever small corner and actually really get to know what bitcoin really is about. emphasis BITCOIN not core

EG
sidechains.. glossy name for altcoins..
as for blockstream if you think that when blockstream have their TIER network they cant get very whitelist/blacklist happy about what they choose to have connected.. you will be wrong

LN can happen now.. but as you can see by all the debate.. people are waiting for segwit and blockstreams version... so if you think its all going to be diverse decentralised. check again.
P.S.. take the blockstreamist defense league hat off and wear a logical critical hat.. and then research.. hint : LN DNS seed.. use logic and critical thinking about how the LN DNS seed can be abused.

1. china controls nothing.
if a pool done anything the node consensus doesnt like it would get kicked out(orphaned) in 3 seconds..

2. if you actually check the stats the actual numbers of real "china" is low percentages. EG bitfury/btcc and bitmain are not just in china. even slsh is managed in thailand.. so stop playing the racist rhtoric.

3. bu has been running on main net all along for 2 years. segwit was an altcoin for 2 years and the real sgwit (witness area, segwit keys have NEVER functioned on bitcoin main net

get a grasp of reality

all ur 'call anything not blockstream a altcoin' is not an original opinion by you. its a repeated SCRIPT by reddit posters .
have an original thought based on real information.

4. stop reading reddit for bitcoin info and stop watching fox for world information. it will help you.

5. core are setting all the ban hammer, upstream node tier, altcoin creating crap.. not the other way around. core have even admitted that their agenda is to create altcoins!!.. read passed their sales pitch ..  bip9=altcoins, uasf=altcoins, sidechains=altcoins.

try to take your blockstreamist defence hat off and think long and hard about bitcoin.. wake up and do some proper research
core do not own bitcoin. core appeared in 2012-2013. and incorporated into blockstream in 2014.

if core devs are supposedly "independent" then why are they refusing to independently get involved in other independent bitcoin projects and instead only want to be dependant on blockstreams management.

spend just 1 hour of your life thinking critically.

Why is BU taking over SegWit? Why are pools in support of a man whose personal intention is actually to scam ahead in future?
I am not against BU, but I am not liking the way Bitcoin is going to split into two different personalities while having the same intention of moving money from one boundary to another at least cost. Can't there be any settlement for this?

The statistical data have shown that bitcoin unlimited has more supporters than the core developers.
I assume you mean more mining hashrate, not "more supporters" since the core deployment is almost ten times larger than the BU deployment by node count. Mining hashrate comes down to an extremely small number of people with extremely large mining hashrate in their power.

P.S im not a BU guy.. im a realist.
i support decentralised and diverse open bitcoin PEER network, definitely not blockstreams desires for a TIER network

that means many implementations.
this is why blockstreamists have failed to REKT me in any camp, because i dont belong to any.

the real issue people have with me is i am just frank about what i say and i kiss no asses.. thats the problem im not kissing any ass. especially not lord gmaxwell CTO and founder of blockstream.

devs come and go. once people realise that devs are only temporary and people start caring more about bitcoin rather than a dev.. those people will wake up too

if you think this is just a ass kissing event of which cheeks deserves love more.. you are only failing yourself
