The bitcoin price prediction going to 2000 dollars was somehow damaged due to miner problems. The conflict between miners has caused the price of bitcoin to deflate and went down below 1000 dollars. Actually i don't think debate on block size will be over within this year or by anytime in future. There will be always some sort of debate because people have different preferences and personal agenda.

Talking about bitcoin price, i think it will stall between $1300 to $1500 by end of this year. Support level is quite strong at $1000 but there is also lots of sell wall at ATH price.

One protocol increase, no matter what it is, would break the never ending deadlock. If it can happen once with success then that sets a precedent for the future. There'll still be whining of course but it'll be far less venomous when people see that it actually can happen.

I think that's the only thing that'll spark a real run. It wouldn't be much to do with actual increased utility, more that a future path can be decided upon and brought to life. I'm not holding my breath though.

If Hard Fork takes place and/or so does BU, I don't see a chance for Bitcoins to be spiking over till that margin near $2000, because people would then split all their money in both the currencies seeing opportunities of earning through BU also. But if no hard fork is ever done (which I personally pray that it shouldn't take place at all), then it is fixed for BTC to mark up to there.

You can take ETH split/hard fork as an example for how even after hard fork coin can survive and actually can get pumped hard..

When network will split people will dump all their free coin with less support while keeping coin in healthy chain. After few months of pump and dump, minority coin will die and the one which will have major community support will live forever.

but Ether was a still born at the time of the hard fork, with few usage outside exchange, and no billions of dollars invested in mining hardware and whole business based on Bitcoin

My believe in Bitcoin has always been solid, and that has not changed even though the fear of a potential hard fork has come to play lately. If I look at 2017 from a realistic point of view, then I can't really see the price climb up much higher than current all time high, but that shouldn't come as a surprise due to the uncertainties regarding the scaling aspect. In order to realize the next level of growth, Bitcoin must scale. If not, then we'll most likely keep hovering between $900-$1300 (give or take $20-$30) for the rest of this year.

The arguments seem more to dollar value with yuan, and the chinese government has done so much to put us where we are now. We just need a news that will distract the so called leadership of the entity. I cant blame the SEC/ETF decision on disapproval, this are part of the problems, a decentralized control. It didn't take them a month before the crack split. If it continues this way in next 3 months, am afraid people and exchanges will try to reconsider their decisions. It may not be implemented but it will be an obvious re-positioning.

I think by this coming months bitcoin would be stable at price ranges 900$-1300$ and will move up and down between these price range. After that there will be two possible outcomes. It will either be a dump to below 900$ which is very likely to happen if there will be a news that will bring price down to that price. If not, The other possible outcome is a pump to above 1300$ which I think won't happen unless the debate between Bitcoin Unlimited and Segwit is resolved.

I have exactly the same sentiment as you. The scaling debate between Core and Bitcoin Unlimited could go on longer than we anticipate. This is not a problem that will be solved in 2 or 3 months, this problem might last more than a year in my opinion with the reluctance shown by the mining pools and miners in what implementation to support. In the mean time some group will keep spamming the network making confirmations take longer than usual.

With the scalability problem and all of the latest update will mean nothing for the bitcoin itself. consider if the bitcoin is on the big drama by the dev to get domination for controlling the bitcoin.

Bitcoin is not a direct part of the US economy. In fact it is not a direct part of any nation's economy, so any change in economic matter in a country will not directly affect the price of Bitcoin. Some people are overestimating how wide the usage of Bitcoin is. The truth is it does not matter. Bitcoin is a mere speck in the ocean for all the economies of the world combined. If Bitcoin reaches a $1T market cap that might change.

The debate will never be over, but this current debate will be over and the solution for a reasonably long term will be found.  People are right that the price can't keep rising until the solution is found.

and when FUD stops price will go up. and people don't say that. instead they say price can't keep rising forever, it needs to stop, have a correction, some accumulation then continue going up.

$2000 by the end of this year still realistic bitcoin would touch to to this milestone easily. At the moment it's little unstable but will be back on it's way to the moon.

for me bitcoin will recover by the end of this year, there are still many months to solve the block size issue, perhaps if that can not be solved, people will slowly forgot that it exist and start buying bitcoin again like with brexit where in the end it wasn't solved but people returned to bitcoin, this is worse but there is nothing better than bitcoin at the moment, and this alone make bitcoin really strong

Not anymore in my opinion. The block chain might split into 2, some group of whales is spamming the network and now there is a POW upgrade initiative that might create further problems. The odds of that happening is very low.

Never be pessimistic, no one is here just to kill bitcoins but everyone working on their known way to further development of bitcoins. I guess all the problems will find a solution very soon and hence we can have $2000+ levels. One important thing, being optimist I wish all these to happen within 2017 itself.

Chaos and frustrations are not new to bitcoin ecosystem but overcoming them is always we could expect and as per history bitcoin has done that many times. So bitcoin will do it yet again.

I quite believe in this year, the price of bitcoin will be above $ 1700, and it may be visible at the end of the year. perhaps when the month of August, or September, people will start buying bitcoin in large numbers, and to make the price to rise.

Why specifically $1700 ? any strategies predicting this level ? I believe physiologically we could expect $2000 levels before end of this years but we must have miners go for a solution for scalabilty issue for $2000 per bitcoin to happen.

I like to predict bitcoin prices to break $2000 levels by mid of 2017 itself. Before end of 2017 I like to see prices trading around $5000 levels.

I am not saying that most people are interested, but the truth is that in this forum there are many business opportunities and all these business opportunities are around bitcoin.

I like your optimistic view, but that doesn't really fit well in current situation where people worry about a potential hard fork. If we don't see a scaling solution, it will be very difficult for the price to reach such levels as at any time the panic can return, which results in the price to tank real hard. Panic regarding a hard fork started to peak very recently, but the problem of Bitcoin not scaling was there for much longer than most of current people realize. It's the only thing that is holding Bitcoin back.

I wouldn't say that bitcointalk would be empty at that time since there will still be some members left here and I think many who are posting now might continue as they do now. It might be true that many people will bankrupt but many people will have an opportunity to add more to their bitcoin stash making them rich in the long run so it doesn't pose a problem at all. Let's just hope bitcoin won't even get back to the point where it is 150$ per bitcoin since I know that day many will post that bitcoin is dead etc.

i agree with you bitcoin will be rise its price to 1200 USD at the end of April month we can see that bitcoin again rising its price to higher value day by day and now bitcoin price 1080 USD and i am sure bitcoin will be rise to 1100 USD in this week. 

i think bitcoin will be rise its price to 1200$ in this week because bitcoin price is about 1100$ so its very easy for bitcoin to hit 1200$ price and you are right that bitcoin increasing its price too much faster.

Unfortunately, the price also falls too fast. But I do not think that this week we will see the price of 1200 dollars. This is a very optimistic forecast. It seems to me that the price will be delayed at the level of 1100 dollars

Currently the price is standing at $1100 and as you may know that it is not a problem for the price of bitcoin to travel a hundred dollars so it may occur that the price of bitcoin will cross $1200. But we have to think for $1500. I hope the price will sooner reach to $1500 and $1200 is not a big problem now.

On rational estimates, assuming no big hacks or general bad news, I think it will reach a peak of $1,350 and go as low as $540. Don’t ask me why. I’ve been following the price for a long time, and it comes down as intuitive to me to predict these numbers, I myself don’t know exactly why, but it has to do with its high volatility which is decreasing

sometime our intuition can not explain why this could be happen or is it really like that and else, because beside using analysis or use another technique, sometimes our feeling is involved and help us to get the sign of the price. maybe its like predicting something but sometime its really happen. but if the price is really gets up in $1,350 then its good for us and we can selling our bitcoin for people which want to sell or we can still keep our bitcoin for another increase of the price.

In my opinion today. I think after all this problem conflicting bitcoin vs BTU,Hardfork problems. Still.. bitcoin is  still striving so hard to go up until now. I'm Thinking the price of bitcoin in 2-3 months will go to 1500$ to 1650$ per 1 BTC.

Btc is bouncing back from 900$ when the issue of btc and btu rise. But after  the issue  btc is going to 2000$ and can be even more higher ,right now btc is at 1150$ which is a good sign going to the moon.

BU is nothing more than amateurish build and untested proposal garbage. Anyone supporting BU is basically rooting against Bitcoin. Seriously how can you prefer BU over SegWit?

Sure, SegWit isn't a perfect solution, especially for the long term as the chances are high that after a year or two we will face the same discussions, but there is no better proposal, that's the whole point.

No, it is not going to come back again at $900 it is now stable at $1,000+ if ever this BTU will be dead. We will see bitcoin to hit to $2,000. I guess for upcoming week we'll see the price at $1,200+ and before the month of April ends we'll see it stable there. While before the end of the year, let's assume it will be at $2,000.

It's really hard to predict the price this year because the outcome of the blocksize debate matters a lot.

It really depends on f the debate will be resolved at all and when that happens. And of course on who wins the debate.

it is going to take some time but eventually it will happen, the same thing was about classic and all the others, they come and make some noise and scare people but in the end they don't gain traction that matters and then they die.

Block size matters always in the time of halving. It's already reduced towards 16000 in the last halving. Price is always depends on demand and supply. If you look at adoption means already we are moving steadily in that because from 2014 onwards we are getting adoption continuously from various MNCs in the world. Recently, Japanese adopt bitcoin as legal currency. So it's resolved already. I think you may understand better now.

When I look at the mempool it's sometimes really large.
I have no explanation why from one moment to another the number of transactions should increase that much unless somebody is doing so intentionally.
And if somebody can do that now, most likely he can do that no matter how big the limitations to block size are.

Well the price prediction before this major dump would be 2500$ surely at the end of this year because the price was just going to reach $1300. But the current situation and stats tell that the price can be around 1700-1800$, but as more countries are starting to adopt it, the price is literally a surprise right now.

I have read awhile ago some coindesk article about bitcoin predictions for this, there is a person that speculate the same prices as we are expecting. Vinny Lingham predicted $2,000 before the end of the year, so I don't want to be discouraged that the price will be on the down side for the upcoming months just like what others are saying.

Mainstream adoption is not really that widespread so what is affecting the price of Bitcoin now is the same as before. Whale manipulation, law of supply and demand and speculation. Japan's acceptance of Bitcoin is good news but that also opens a door to limit it. I would prefer no regulation for Bitcoin and keep everything open.

For me the price of bitcoin this year 2017 is around $1100-$1500 it is possible to happen . My bitcoin prediction this 2017  is there will be a lot of new coins that will rise and will make bitcoin price to go down.
But if bitcoin will survive, the price of it will definitely increase even  further,that no one has expected.

in other words nothing new compared to the past 8 years.
new shitcoins created, they get pumped and attract a lot of attention, bitcoin whales start a panic epidemic so that they can buy cheap coins. this continues a while.
the shitcoins die, and by that time bitcoin whales have accumulated enough for the next rally. bitcoin price rises again.

I also often think like that someday there will be a coin which beat bitcoin. The main issue of coins is a marketing strategy, we all know that bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency so that it is acceptable to everyone.

Bitcoin being the first crypto surely does matter, but the point is that people don't need any altcoins. Bitcoin does exactly that what people want it to do. I quite often see people stating that altcoins are better because they offer this feature, because they are faster, bla bla bla. They don't realize that basically every feature that altcoins advertise themselves with, is just a gimmick that doesn't enjoy any actual usage. Another thing, most altcoin networks are pretty much empty as they don't enjoy much usage. If they at some point get the same level of usage as Bitcoin, then look how much of their 'speed' is left... It will slow down immensely.

This is very true. There are now some people who are asking if a soft fork to activate Segwit or a hard fork to Bitcoin limited is necessary. You have to ask yourself this, if there is really a need for an "upgrade" and why. Bitcoin as a store of value is ok with me to be honest and most of the people here treat that way anyway.

the current price of bitcoin has reached 1200USD. a remarkable improvement over the last few days. still a lot of chance to rise again this month. I believe that the price of bitcoin will be closed in the numbers 1300USD. many positive things that support the current bitcoin prices.

I think that $2,000 is definitely a fairly good estimate for the end of the year.

First, we have seen that at the end of one year, around Christmas time each year and the new year every year there is generally been a price increase. Right now the price sits at around $1,200, I would'nt be surprised at all if the price was to go up by $50 a month till the end of the year steadily and then have it jump a few hundred dollars in a week or something like that.

But then it'll depend on whether the fork is successful or even if there is going to be a fork this year.

Well I like the look of 2017 so far that's for sure.

So far we have seen the price of bitcoins stabilise a lot compared to 2013. I had my doubts along the way when I thought that bitcoin was in another bubble after the ETF rejection by the SEC, but it has indeed proved me wrong.

Although there were a few setbacks along the way, with bitcoin crashing to around $800-900 at one stage, it has always recovered without fail to a level that is $1,000+.

I think we can safely say that $1000 is the new floor, and with that, a (less than) double price in one year isn't difficult at all.

It's a great idea to buy into cheap coins in the early $1,000s, instead of buying it late when it's nearly $2000. After all the floor is $1,000, and you don't need to worry about it crashing down to something like $500, that's consensus in this forum I think.

Merchant adoption isn't doing much for the price in general. That's mainly due to the fact that the far majority of the merchants make use of third party payment processors. Every coin we spend is going to be dumped on the market in one way or another. It will much rather have a negative impact than a positive one. Other than that, what network improvements are you exactly referring to?

You should start collecting bitcoins and hold it before the year ends cause it will surely goes up 3000$.

I wouldn't say  that 3000$ is possible in 2017 because it is already april. I would say that 2000$ is possible at the end of the year ( maybe start of the 2018 )/
In my opinion it will be slow buildup until 1500$ through first half of the year, and then it will speed up to reach 1700-1800$ levels, obviously the chart would contain also dips to the bottom, but overall, it would rise.

On the other hand, I really want to see these "2017- 3000$/1btc" predictions come true obviously :) But the chance isn't big, especially with panic on the market because of BU and other events.

I think we'll hit $2000 this year unless it drops below $600. Because a lot of people are seeing the prices rise, and more people will buy in. Supply is decreasing as time goes on, as it always has in Bitcoin.

the price wont double because of FOMO only. Bitcoin needs to defeat its weaknesses over and over again to increase in value. Block size is the next challenge. If the community cant resolve this because the miners want to max. their profit on short term then we have a huge problem. The only solution could be to buy the miners out and force SegWit like this. Yes because of high demand and stable stock then the price will continue to skyrocket, I'm sure the user bitcoin increasingly loyal and optimistic with the future of the bitcoin so they will continues to buy despite the price is expensive. I predicted the highest price of this year will hit $2500.

I doubt if we will reach $2500 this year if there are no positive triggers. That is more than double today's price.
Of course, if there is a positive trigger (like an ETF getting approved), then the price may reach those levels.

Yes mate because I think $2500 is not possible without any hype news on bitcoin like the ETF on the Winklevoss twins. So I speculate only $1500 tops on bitcoin at the year end. The current price is $1200, then price will be static or if the price rise it will only a few percent and will reach its peak at $1500.

I think even there are a good news we can not touch in that value.. i am sure other competitors or altcoin will doing something just to get some few investors from bitcoin into altcoin..

I think altcoin not give a big impact into bitcoin price man. In the other hand, bitcoin give big impact to others alt coin. Every trader/speculator does not need to have reasons/supporting factors, just their intuitions is more than enough for them to predict better. I do see almost of 90% of people are just listening to their inner thoughts to make decisions for their trading/investments. Surprisingly they are right most of the times.

My predictions in bitcoin this end of year of 2017 will atleast make it up to $1500 well even it doesn't meet that exact price atleast it's around that price that's my prediction about the price of bitcoin this year and ofcourse after a year pass 2018 will be there so expect the big pump on the price of bitcoin . it will hit atleast $1600 just like now this year it start with $1000 and now it's above $1200 .

yes every one has their own view and prediction about bitcoin but to me i  will like to say that the price of bitcoin is going to cross 1500 USD level in next 2 months, and after that the price of bitcoin will continue to increase and this time it can even cross 2000 USD level at the end of 2017, while i am also sure that may be at the end of 2017 the price of bitcoin even reach to 2500 USD level.

They have a set of guidelines when they trade, but they have become so good and so fast that you think they are not doing anything special when in fact they are running very fast calculations in their heads and deciding if trading a particular coin is worth it.

I guess he is just blabbing about what is going inside his mind.  It is obvious he is just wild guessing something since he do not even state a single reason why Bitcoin will get into that price.

I used to think that Bitcoin will possibly reach $1500 at the end of this year but with the current happening, we will be lucky to see Bitcoin at $1400 at the end of the year unless some very good news in the technical side happen, we can see far more than $1500 because it will trigger a hype and cause a panic buy due to FOMO.

As quoted $1400-$1500 seems to be an assured price for the year end. Only the technical aspects need to support the growth, because people have realized the true potential of bitcoin and have started to be part of it and earn that they can. Governments too have started giving importance to the technology as well bitcoin in some countries help in the growth.

In September 2016 bitcoin's price was around $500 now we have $1200. So if price would only reach $1500 in 2017 it will be the worst year for bitcoin.
I expect something more, there is no external threat to the bitcoin right now. Chinese cryptocurrency situation is easing, Japan embraced bitcoin.
Political situation: Brexit, Indian big banknotes demonetization , Venezuelan hyper inflation are only the beginning, all these and future events will cause people to invest in Bitcoin.

I think it will depend it seems some exchanges have some problems with the withdrawal of funds in fiat, and if that keeps happening then most likely the price of bitcoin is going to go down also those exchanges that are able to keep the withdrawals will win a competitive advantage over those that do not and that could help create another monster like Mt Gox.

Your price is possible to happen because the price of bitcoin now is $1200 plus so if your prediction in this end of year it is possible. But I hope the price will pump or reach $2000 or more but it is difficult to happen but if its happen for sure the bitcoin world become happy and thankful of what is the success of bitcoin. Many predict that bitcoin prices could reach $ 2,000 by the end of this year. But I think it is very difficult to happen, although possible, maybe it will not be stable. Yes and $2000 is too high price to expect from this year and no doubt that price is moving in a positive direction but I don't think that it will go above $1500 in the end of the year and even that price is a good price to hold.

My prediction is somewhere between $1500-$2000 by the end of this year. The price is steadily trending upward. It all depends on what happens with the segwit and other factors. The recent Japan thing will help in the long run i'm almost certain. It's already climbed over $150 from that announcement alone

I already earning and make profits with bitcoin many times even it was only introduced to me last year so I do believe that everyone has also a room in upside trend. This year I'm looking forward that we will reach a new all time high price and it is soon.

We should not expect a lot from the segwit front except more of the same, we will probably get more FUD and I don’t expect the percentage of miners signaling segwit activation to grow that much either, but an increase in adoption in Japan will help the price.

Segwit is the right solution for bitcoin scalability, it just like a time bomb. In this time the scalability problem of bitcoin has taken a lot of attention from a lot of the parties.
The tension of the scalability debate is really high right now. But if the scalability can be resolved and it will give a lot of impact for the price of bitcoin.

Bitcoin prices do have the potential to reach $ 2000 by the end of the year. Well, that's a very high price, but it's probably not going to be stable, because it's a new price, and maybe it's the highest price for the year, and it might be hard to reach $ 3,000 in the future.

I guess there is no tool available to measure the potential of bitcoins hence when everything will be set right, we may see prices reaching even $3000 or $5000 levels too and may be within this year too. Just if SEC will be approving etf will get prices of $2000 into reality maybe within a month and hence $5000 maybe possible before end of this year.

I really like to read this article,  great statement and review from the past and the cause, as bitcoin price may driven by speculation based on some countries regulations regarding cryptocurrency, China and India seems contribute to bitcoin hikes and this year Japan take decision to legalized bitcoin, really good achievement of bitcoin community.

Perhaps $2000 is certainly possible to be reached this year, but only as a consequence of pure speculation rather than real bitcoin fundamentals. I am convinced that $1300 is the maximum level that bitcoin should reach, and above this mark is mere speculation.

That's only assuming that the price will continue to grow with next to no serious corrections (preferably no corrections at all).

It however doesn't work like that in a market based on supply and demand. At some point the price will reach a certain hight of which people think it's not worth buying at, and that's when the temporary top has been reached.

I personally prefer the price to take a slower but more sustainable route to finally reaching the $2000 mark. But I am sure the majority of the people don't care about sustainability as they are only interested in more increases.

A slower rise is better although i feel the rise after december, februari and now in march is taking off in the right direction.
At this point we should enjoy the ride because until 2020 we are in for a bumpy yet profitable ride.

Well some say slower price is better since it wont crash that easy, but I guess let the market move as it wants, if it crash then we can take advantage of buying cheaper Bitcoin then if it spike then we can sell those cheaply bought Bitcoin in higher price.  This will mean profit for us.

This is what is coming to my mind either base on what's the chart is showing us daily. It's very possible to see the chart to hit up to $2,000 or even higher. If the demand is always like this and most of us are keep on holding positively, then expect the higher price of bitcoin before the end of the year.

If they get bored then the price is going to get lower, but as you said I doubt that anyone is going to get bored earning 5% daily by not doing much so I’m pretty sure they are very happy about the current events and their current earnings.

It seems BTC BTC will hit 2000$ mark by end of 2017; though most of them think 3000$ by March 2018.
I am sure with the current LTC segwit which showed successful softfork implementation could be a viable solution for BTC too. If that happens, it won't hamper anyone, neither it would create multiple chains leaving us in misery and this could skyrocket the price quickly.

I predict the mother of crypto currency would reach $20K by the end of December 2017 and will keep increasing to the core. By end of 2018, bitcoins price value would be at $40K.
