Title: What do you think about future of Monero?
Post by: quinterogod on March 29, 2017, 01:58:06 AM
I purchased it $24 but do i must hold or, sell it and buy another?

I also think if btc go to hell, than china money would be invested in Monero, because their money is black money.

what do you think?

Just look at Monero github, they have a very strong development team and strong community. It's also the only currency with good privacy - the other competitors are DASH which is actually less safe than just using coinjoin with bitcoin, and Zcash which is not trustless (you must trust the founders really deleted the data used for starting the geneis block otherwise they can see all your transactions).

If there's anything that has the right foundation to really join bitcoin and ethereum up the top its Monero.

i think it will definitally be worth more than it is today someday thats for sure! 0.05+ should be an easy price for this coin, its got alot going for it and it accessable to everyone thru CPU mining being not that far from GPU. its ya also the only coin officially accepted on most darkmarkets, so that will mean something more than it does today, someday ;p

You didn't get any profit if you holding only the Monero or other altcoin just sell monero if the monero price goes up sell it and if monero price goes down just buy monero again.Try and try that method until you get more profit on it.

Well, buying it for $24 was too much. Now monero is decreasing in price, but I think it is better for you to hold and hope for something good. There aren't many people who think Monero is a completely useless coin, it can solve some problems other currencies can't. Like security issues, as was stated above in this thread. I personally see nothing attractive in Monero but admit that the currency deserves better than it has now.

its better to hold since the price is falling never sell when you are at lost consider it as a good investment think positive and believe that there's always possibility to increase its value we can't say it yet until the progress starts, monero seems to have a lots of speculators and support, don't lose your hope crypto world have a lots of surprises.

I personally believe an investment in Monero right now is riskier, but will probably earn you a much greater return.

hold, what do you have to lose! 24 bucks. don't worry about it at all. hold and enjoy even if price goes down you only lose a couple of bucks ($4!) and if it goes up you again make small couple of bucks ($2!) :D
monero is a good coin anyways, and although it has been pumped recently but i don't think it is the end of the rise.

I want to correct you Bitcoin will not go to hell,it's still the best coin to invest,Monero is also a good coin and so many people hype Monero in the past and still being hype,so it is a good contender but not to replace bitcoin the most monero can reach is the third spot behind bitcoin and eth .

monero is a great currency offers better anonimity than many other coins and on par with zcash if not better, the value can increase very high like dash or ethereum, it's better to buy some for now, i think the next pump will be on monero

Currently XMR around $19.4 (+10%), Just hold your XMR for now, don't invest all your money in 1 altcoin, it seems XMR will rise again since XBC and the other unfamiliar coins already got dumped today. (Maybe XMR will get pump same like XBC yesterday)
Btc go to hell, lol  :D

If you buy high and sell low you won't do much of a business.
XMR has a good potential to rise .. over years. But it has a history of up and down, it may reach again 10$ before going back to 50$..
You need patience.

Depends on what kind of "investor" you are. If you are after the quick buck then sell it now until your losses are not too high and buy something else what fits more to your plans. If you thinking in longer terms then hold it and buy more if the price plunges.

Chinese money isn't "black money". They sometimes need to bypass local financial regulations or limitations to get their money to international markets, but that happens once in a few years so that would be quite a "niche market".

You should have bought it to use it.  So use it.  I wouldn't know how, but I hope you bought it because you wanted to pay someone with it. After all, that's what crypto is about, no ?  If you buy crypto to hold it or to sell it again, you're just being a fool, hoping for a greater fool.  Which you may find, or not.  In which case, you were the greatest fool another fool has found.

Seems you are suggesting OP to day trade, well that is actually a good way to increase someone's holding if he is comfortable doing this stuff.  But I guess OP is not yet familiar with day trades since he is asking if it is nice to hold it or sell it.

If you are not familiar or comfortable with day trading, or don't have time to monitor the fluctuation, it is best to hold it.  I do agree with CjMapope when he say:

Monero will have it's own share of pump&dumps, but overall it won't gain much adoption. Bitcoin and every other project untill now proved that public blockchain cryptos that aim to become payment systems cannot get enough adoption for a mid to long term sustainable high mcap, even though whales try to pump them, their value drops afterwards.
So for speculation monero is okay-ish. To even hope for mainstream adoption these projects must do much more than aiming to become bitcoin 2.0 .

I think monero has a good future and you might see it as one of the contenders to replace bitcoin when it does fall and be forgotten. So I think holding these kinds of alt coins is good choice to do. However, this might be a gamble on your part and you might not see anything for it and it might even fall. But, I still believe you should just stick with it.

That is true for any form of actual crypto.  Crypto has only niche applications, and is currently sustained by a huge volcano of hot air in a great-fool game.

"mainstream adoption" will never occur, for any of them.   Niche applications, yes.  Everywhere were legal systems cannot do the job.
Monero definitely has a place there.  Bitcoin maybe too, as a reserve currency between sleazy big bosses.

Monero, one of the strongest altcoins on the market today, announced on its website that it will hold a new hard fork of the network on April 15, 2017. In that sense the project development team has released a new version of the software, Will be mandatory. This early update of the code is due to unexpectedly high rates of adoption of Ring Confidential Transactions (RingCT), which in turn led to the need to modify the algorithm to limit the dynamic size of the unit.

You are new account so probably I am just wasting my time. But Monero ATH was $25.5. So you bought them quite expensive. I am 99% sure price will exceed $24, but is also high chance it will take long time. Even years.  To not look so pessimistic price can also go over $24 tomorrow. Monero just need to be added to coinbase and BAM.

I personally was in reds with Monero for year and a half. Since price went from ATH in June 2014 at $5 to even close to 0.25$ in 2015.   Luckily I did not bought that close to ATH at that time as you did now. But on other hand, now Monero emission is way slower and have solid development with emerging infrastructure.

Yes number of transactions grow to much. So some changes were needed. Hardfork is already on latest binaries for CLI. For GUI will be out in upcoming days. But it will only happen on 15th April.

In order for it to circulate we must need to buy it and sell it. It is one of the strong alt coins nowadays, but we are not even sure on till when does it takes ,to keep its very good value in the market be wise enough.

my advice is better you hold for a while until there is a good movement from the market, if the price is reach lower price again, you can buy again to make more stock. don't think that you have to do cut loss because in future, the price will be back and will reach higher price.

Monero has the best privacy amongst all the coins, based on that alone I expect it to do well. Especially now that the community is waking up to the fact that bitcoin transactions can be tracked easily. I see its price appreciating in the coming months.

They just have to show steady development, and then some innovation at least once a year. Otherwise they will be left behind, not because they are not a good project but simply because the number of coins will continue to grow exponentially.

the number of coins won't grow exponentially. After what the reward per block will be 0.6 XMR emission will increase by 157680 (0.6*30*24*365) per year. Inflation is decreasing in this case

Monero and all Cryptonote coins use anonymity through obscurity. It is easy to reverse this obfuscation no matter how many mixins are used. Monero transactions prior to 2017 are 100% traceable and transactions as they exist today are traceable to the degree of 80%. Instead they should scrap the current obfuscation mechanism that depends on blockchain data and prevents SPV nodes and move to something cryptographically secure and easier such as zero-knowledge-proofs.

Well, so far, it does not seem that even the NSA is able to track the trace of Monero. I'm not a cryptography and blockchain expert, so I can not argue with you, but your data does not fit me perfectly. Do you have any other sources to claim this? Indeed, in the future, Monero will help with the Kovri project

what do you think?
Well, buying it for $24 was too much. Now monero is decreasing in price, but I think it is better for you to hold and hope for something good. There aren't many people who think Monero is a completely useless coin, it can solve some problems other currencies can't. Like security issues, as was stated above in this thread. I personally see nothing attractive in Monero but admit that the currency deserves better than it has now.
In March of this year, they discussed whether to buy Minero for $ 24. Now his rate is 129 dollars with a capitalization of about two billion dollars. The conclusion is unambiguous, it was necessary to buy.

Monero prices is just like the same with the other altcoin sometimes goes up and down. A lot of alts exist nowadays, and how about in the coming years? Probably there still more coming alts, if monero still used for investment then possibility it will still exist but the price couldn't be go higher than today's price.
You forget that Monero is completely different than others and base of members/users is growing each day

I not agree, I think that Monero future is bright.
Of course many altcoins will disappear in the future, but Monero is one that will remain because it offers anonymity.

For now with those all sorts of goverment regulations in my opinion Monero has a great future, due to its anonymity.

You don't need to think about that just hold it. I had 3 monero and I sold it for $25-35 since I thought it can't rise more. I hope you didn't sell it like me.

How sure you are that many altcoins would disappear on the future? No on actually knows on whats ahead or on upcoming years to come and speculating prices would be the thing that we can do now. Speaking on Monero ever since this coin had launch i do already have hopes on this coin considering that its being used on darknet besides on btc which means theres really the interest because of its complete anonymity.

Monero really become to altcoin for Under Ground while Bitcoin has start become to legal in recent. You also know the function of cryptocurrency is help us avoid someone track our transaction or money. However, Bitcoin cannot continue helps us solve this issue, therefore this is reason if hacker (not me ;D) want use crypto for business, they need use an altcoin can do that, and Monero is best choice at now.

I am bullish privacy assets and think Monero should be a core holding. As the Fidelities and Goldmans Sach's of the world help shepherd their clients into crypto they will likely gravitate into the established large market cap crypto names like Bitcoin, Monero, Ethereum, Litecoin, etc IMHO. The small cap names that everyone on BCT knows and loves will simply be too small to be investable given the large sums involved. That said small cap privacy coins like Cloakcoin, Spectrecoin and Deep Onion should also also do well and appreciate in value with Monero. These three coins also have feature of PoS minting so you will be able to earn a few coins in exchange for contributing your computing power to secure the network.

Monero is one of the few crypto coins that can be CPU mined so that's another opportunity for enterprising investors and entrepreneurs.

Likely, destined to be a niche coin. I say that primarily because of it's anonymous features. Just look at what happened in China earlier this year when exchanges would not allow transferring cryptocurrency off the exchange for about four months as they pursued meeting government regulation. Likely, these exchanges will never support Monero to avoid government scrutiny. If people started using it regularly the US would likely make it illegal as well.

As long as it remains a niche coin it might be able to avoid government interference. If it becomes popular the hammer will fall.

You should hold it. Monero is known to its strong blockchain technology which invites more people to invest to it. Remember that cryptocurrency depends on the demand, so if there'll be more investors due to its advantages, the demand will increase as well as its market value. But to make sure of the profit  try also investing into other altcoins to make sure that you'll earn profit from your investment. I suggestvyou to disregard the dumps and compel into holding your coin.

XMR is a solid investment, IMO. Charlie Lee confessed earlier while on a YT stream to holding Monero too! Along with LTC, of course.

Well the next best time to get into some is now...

Well, for me, i dont think it'll go that far because the way  i see it, every government will hate it. So i don't see it as something people will invest in for very long periods of time. I only see it as a coin that is good for storage. Because we all know that the banks hate things that they cannot benefit from. And monero is good at just doing that. So better buy and sell for profits when it comes to monero. Because it really can't attract a lot of whales for they often think hard and even overthink sometimes.
