Why is the Philippines number 31, I am from the Philippines and I am observing and a witness on how bitcoin becomes a booming industry in the area. I was surprised to see that we are only in the number 31. I thought we are at least in the top 10 countries who are active in bitcoin. Though I am not sure that the order of the list means something but seeing it was a bit of shocking to me.

I'm from philippines and I'm confused why we are in no.31 only as I've observed most of us here using bitcoin and relying on bitcoin. May I ask if this is a particular order?

Is Philippines in the special mention here? because the title says list of 'THIRTY' but Philippines is in the 31st.  :D
Putting the joke aside, what was the basis of this order? Because AFAIK Philippines holds a large volume of market bitcoins. They even have their own exchanging site and a monopoly online wallet that is affiliated to different shops, services and even international banks.

Wonder what happened to btc in cuba.

Last I heard cuba's wire transfers were fined @ something like 30%-40% rates.

Cuban immigrants in the united states used bitcoin to send money to their families in cuba & avoid exorbitant transfer fees.

Some countries have ridiculous fees for moving money.

It makes me wonder how those who loudly complain about 0.006 btc transfer fees would survive if they lived in cuba & learned what crazy transfer fees really look like.

Im from Philippines and Im wondering our country is 31st. As I have noticed, bitcoin here is becoming popular and many users are adopts bitcoin. Bitcoin is increasing its numbers of usage because of its advantages and benefits.

I think OP should also add how many BTC being transacted or volume transacted for each country. Also, I am surprised Indonesia is not on the list? There are many Indonesians active also on bitcoin.

you can check fiatleak.com or coinmarketcap.com for example to see where the volume comes from.

From experience, many Filipinos are going to trash the source of your chart and question why they are last on the list even though "Many of us are using bitcoin, i wonder why so low on charts" haha.

Malaysia on the list eh, I wonder if one single person contributed to Malaysia being so high on that list.

Why is Nigeria at 14 though? And india at 6? Must be all the HYIPs and ponzis along with the cheap electricity miners.

I don't think this list is in order of popularity or volume...we all know the latter isn't really possible to understand.

BTC user from the Philippines can make a living through BTC because of the high exchange rate, I can pay all of my house bills
plus extra just from signature campaign alone, the salary from my main job is almost untouched because of bitcoin.

Actually yes because of the decent exchange rate between USD and PHP especially with the current kick to around Php50 per $1 when new administration takes place. The downside is, products came from importing will be more expensive.

Anyways about the list, I don't see PH on top 10 even no doubt we have some good numbers here using bitcoin. Why? We are here everyday in crypto world that's why we think that we already reached a good adoption numbers but tried to talked even just with your neighbors or workmates if they know or even encounted the word bitcoin.

I am from India and you listed in the right position I believe. Not far away from the top 10 and it is the real case actually. In India bitcoin is very popular now and companies (crypto based) have formed within the country in recent years. These companies are offering best trading platforms for Indians and as the value of 1BTC = Four Figures money it is gaining more popularity here. I mostly use bitcoin for trading in real cash and I earn a lot from it.

You shouldn't react like that or respond like that dude :), as you notice as the above title 30 listed countries, in which means Philippines is not belong to that count, it maybe commiseration only that Philippines was listed at 31 countries. And no reason for you to be shock because  bitcoin is not that popular yet in the Philippine that's the reality situation now in your country.

This is great, India is a sleeping economic giant not only in the bitcoin sense, but in the developing world sense. I have been loving watching the volume go up over time there and hope it continues.

Its surprising to see Nigeria taking the number 14 spot on the list. If the list is credible to be trusted then I am really surprised that despite several reports that the cpoury is known for scammers they could still have a spot over there... Its really surprising...

bitcoin is becoming more popular in our country that is why it has been in the list. i know too that it will rank up sooner or later since philippines already has its coin called pesobit which is already acknowledge by the central bank of the philippines.

that's racist. there has never been any evidence of Nigerian people being scammers. the thing you heard was some scammer from somewhere else who used the words "Nigerian prince" and it caught on as widespread scam and finally as a joke that stuck.

and bitcoin has been growing in Africa for some time now. it started with some advertising over there and then their bad economy helped and eventually the trade volume picked up and it is still growing.

I am from the country #19. People out here mostly don't know a thing about bitcoin but we also have some people related to creating alts (Swiscoin) and there are more than 20 websites on which one is able to buy/sell bitcoin. Some are very complex, you have to make a video of your computer screen when you send btc. Others have worse prices but are very easy to use (email registration, entering the sum one wants to buy/sell, sending money on some adress, recieving what one wanted in about half an hour).

Please don't be offended because no one is saying the order is accurate. If it was at least close to being accurate China would definitely stay among top three, not on the 18th place. Also I'm not seeing South Korea in the list which is strange because I doubt Romania, for example, has a bigger trading volume.

I had no intention to answer in your post, but you are very wrong and it's unfair for rest of people worldwide to accuse them that they are racists because they speak about Nigerian fraud or scam. May be all of these scammers are not Nigerians but live in this country or I don't know why. But, if you make a simple search in any search engine maybe a popular one say Google with the phrase 'nigerian frauds' you will be surprised from the results. I'm from indonesia and my country isn't on the list  :-\. Well that's a given since bitcoin is not popular in my country, i even doubt a lot of people know about bitcoin here, except my fellow countrymen in some bitcoin forum.

My country is listed. I can not say bitcoin is "popular" Very few know what it is and less use it and less trade it. Of course the gov agree with the trading part, but guess why? Because we have to pay the taxs on the margin profits ! When we report the incomes for the taxs we have now a part to report the profits made with trading bitcoin and so pay taxs on this, if we are eligible. Funny to see they don't want accept bitcoin but agree to ask us to pay the taxs on it

Japan on the other hand, recently legalize bitcoin as a legal payment method after a long wait but it doesn't listed on the list. And even prior to that, it must be on the list.

From what I have read so far I cannot conclude that the list is just random because even aside from the list other details have emerged that have even provide backing to the list. Regarding the issue of Japan since the declaration is still recent and I dont expect the news to circulate that fast compared to other countries who are on the list that have been known to be the hub of bitcoin trading.

My country is not popular for trading bitcoin,as I Iive in Bangladesh. Bitcoin is banned here by the government. I hope government will unban it soon.  :(

I am from India. Indeed yes, India deserve slot 6. There is a huge bitcoin demand in India from last 4 months. As a result of demand, price in India shot $1500 too in Feb.
The main reason was the Demonetization in India. After demonetisation on 8th Nov, people moved towards cashless means and Bitcoin was one of the most promising choice. In addition, India is large country and a home to large amount of potential bitcoin users, therefore, new additions to demand made daily!

Op made the source font size too small thats why only a few people have seen it and forgot the most important part and that is, It is a list of cash trades statistics from localbitcoins which was pretty outdated now, I guess it is because this was the third time it was copied and pasted . I'm not really familiar with the word cash trades but the people on the source said that it happens when you trade bitcoin personally (face to face) which kinda makes sense why my country PH is in the last place .

Yes the list is based off transaction count only at Localbitcoins.  And cash trades does not have to be face to face, for example, you can cash deposit into someone's bank, and that bitcoin seller verifies they have money in bank account and will release bitcoin to buyer.

Some countries such as Japan and also the Philippines may have many options for getting bitcoin that are more popular in that country thus in the people in that country are not forced to turn to a service like localbitcoin, like the rest of the world.

On April 1st, Bitcoin becomes legal payment option in Japan,but I am really surprised that the list  lacks Japan.What is the significance of this ranking?

Here this is India which is at the 6 the number in your list .
Since I am much active in the trading from five to six months but still I am struggling to increase my turn over in trading .
Here k don't think that bitcoin will live more in India Because the questions about the legality of the bitcoin is now arising in the India for the government to stop the use of the black money .
But here the recent example of the Japan to accept the bitcoin as the legal currency and safe and Trusted will try to change the mood of Indian government and will make the bitcoin accept by the Indian government .

I am from the Philippines and I think the ranking and the data used for the ranking can be outdated and not reflecting the present situation because we know that more and more Filipinos are already getting into Bitcoin. Anything online and I am sure that Philippines would land on the top 10. Anyway, this is not a contest and we don't actually care what is our ranking as long as we are all enjoying the benefits of cryptocurrency both as an asset as an investment. :)

I am from East Timor, everyone knows the country of East timor are still lagging from any countries about bitcoin, there is currently no exchangers that accept bitcoin, so I use for online shopping.

I think it's not sorted out based of volume, just randomly put that country to the list.

In Indonesian, lack of peoples who knows about Bitcoin and in my village I'm the only one who know Bitcoin till know. But, there are local exchanges and merchants accepting Bitcoin so it's make me more convenient to use Bitcoin to pay something.

I'm also from Indonesia and i'm not surprised Indonesia is not on the list. Bitcoin is not popular in our country dude. In my area, no one know about bitcoin, we only met many bitcoin user in indonesia by online. It's hard to find people that using bitcoin that we can find in real life here. But by looking from the trade chart, Indonesia is big tho.

I am from Philippines but I think this list is not updated since here we got many options to convert bitcoin to fiat and many people use bitcoin here so I don't think that our country should be on the 31st list and if it is based on transactions on Localbitcoins I guess you should consider adding more sources about this before making the list of top 30 popular bitcoin countries for trade since it is unfair for other countries too to use localbitcoins as basis.

That's interesting.  When I think of bitcoin, I have not yet thought of Cuba.  Makes a lot of sense, and I have a friend who used to have all sorts of trouble getting his wife over from there, though I don't know if there were any funds crossing borders.  I'd be very curious to know how many Cubes we have on this forum.

Like many others I am from Philippines too and it is nice to see our country being on the list the sad one though is it is 31st in the list that seems to be kind of a joke since the title is Thirty popular bitcoin countries for trade. If we were to talk about popular bitcoin countries for trade, I don't think our country belongs to the 31st spot but rather on top 30. I think you OP need to reconsider remaking this list specially that the list according to you is based only on localbitcoins.

I am from East Timor but currently school in Indonesia, I know user bitcoin in my country is very low, I not yet to find an exchanger accept bitcoin, so I use bitcoin for online transactions only. I hope the bitcoin can be popular one day or accept of the government.

I am from Ghana and am not surprised that Nigeria is on the list at all, due to the fact that they want to do lots of things anonymously and in Ghana, only 35% of the youth even know about bitcoins and even less uses it.

Might be a forum bias on the other hand it may depend on the location if your in the Province or in Manila etc.
I assume that those in the city hear about it more than in the province etc.

35% of young population knowing about bitcoin as well other digital currencies is great. This could help your economy grow better and reach big heights though less among the 35% uses it. In most countriesovery small percentage, in single digit young people are aware of it.

Im from India,the world's second largest populated country.Bitcoin is getting popular here slowly.Recently,police arrested five youngsters consuming drugs and unfortunately they were found to have bought it with bitcoins.So,government has formed a committee to discuss the possibilities of banning bitcoin.Hope,india too would follow the same path of china and russia who once tried to ban bitcoins and now started to just regulate bitcoins.If bitcoin gets popular in india,definitely it could create a huge impact on bitcoin progress.

India is really a great Sleeping economic giant both in medical, technology, bitcoin, agriculture and finance. Currently people are a travelling from developed and developing countries to learn medicine in India. But in bitcoin I think there is great potential in India as if they developed the technology very it will become hub of bitcoin and others crypto currencies.

Get out of your cave pal :D.  Bitcoin is a booming industry in the Philippines yes, but they have not reach the stage where the volume can compete among those at the higher rank.  I used to be at MLM industry  and company using Bitcoin as bait is just starting out but they never boom the same popularity as in Nigeria.  Besides if you go out of your place and ask a random person, I doubt if you can even have 3 among the 10 people you asked that know Bitcoin.

I read in the news sometimes back that the rise of Bitcoin in Nigeria is because of Ponzi scheme call MMM but if the point raised is true then that means space over there is maturing

Even though India is in 6th place, I see it in top 3 in upcoming years and there are many aspects of it. The potential users are tremendously increasing in India with a booming number of smartphone users, more and more people are getting into the flow of internet connectivity and fairly 65% population is below the age of 35 years so considering such facts, I can clearly see the place in top 3.

Yes, for sure. However, I don't think we need any kind of commercial kind of advertisement (the bitcoin companies in India are already doing it). Bitcoin is a technology which can grow rapidly by even mouth publicity, we just need to show our friends and relatives that what it is all about and how it works. I am ready to bet on this topic that India will have largest (top 3) user group of bitcoin in next few years.

i didn't see my country on your list apparently it is excluded but it doesn't matter for me because bitcoin being popular too in my country even still not reach 30 positions yet however in Japan also population of bitcoin users has increasing and i wonder why this country is not on your list too

More population of bitcoin users in a specific country doesn't mean the number of trades was made within a day will drastically increasing, maybe the majority of bitcoin users in japan are always holding that rarely convert their bitcoin or at least use it for trading. Professional traders could make so many trades in a day while a holder will rarely make a trade. It's kinda normal thing because the list above based on how much a country's trades withing specific time.

Why my country philippines is the last or number 31 . I think my country is on the list of top 15 because many filipino here using bitcoin and they have many investor. Many filipino are always active in bitcoin world. And most of them are source of income is bitcoin. Thats my opinion I dont where Op base on that list. But I hope my country sill be on the top 10 next year because I believe many people here invest and using bitcoin because the government is relased news about bitcoin as payment.

If that list is not a ranked list, and its hard to believe it is ranked, then it has absolutely no sense. 31 countries is 1/6 of the whole world list of countries. The 4/6 are some little/poor/joke countries.

Im from a Poland and its hard for me to imagine that its close to trade volume with China.

I`m from Ukraine. It`s a poor country, most of working people have salary 100-300$. This situation unacceptable. But we have a lot of youth that wanted to live better, they deserve for another life. Thanks to spread of internet many guys and girls works in IT industry, some like me started interesting with bitcoin).

But i believe my country on the next few days is on top because many is going invest in bitcoin and many people use internet and access in internet. I am from India,neighbour of china.But still,bitcoin users are much low when compared to china which dominate bitcoin world with large number of mining farms.But,good news is that recently,indian government has shown green flag in favour of bitcoin legalization.Zebpay and Unocoin are big bitcoin exchanges in the country.More people are getting aware of bitcoin nowadays and soon india would become an important place for bitcoin transactions.

I am from India.Even though its a neighbour country to china,the mining giant,most of indians are unfamiliar with bitcoins.Just last week,i saw a news that india has decided to legalize bitcoins.If that comes true,that would boost use of bitcoins in india more.India being the second world's largest populated country would contribute more to bitcoin progress.

I am from the Philippines.  I am quite sad that Philippines is on the 31st place but on the other hand i am happy as well considering that at least, out of many countries around the world, Philippines is one of the countries who recognizes bitcoin and know and join in bitcoin trading.  Even many people are internet user here in the Philippines, still, many people do not have any idea what bitcoin is.  I guess,more information dissemination and signature campaigns must launch here. I hope Philippines become on the top 10 bitcoin users someday.

I am from Montenegro. I am sure that Montenergo won't be on that top list because we are small country. But more and more people starting to use BTC and other crypto cc .

I'm from the Philippines and recently there was a big boom of mining here and trading due to ETH and BTC being up. Most are clueless people who wants to get rich quick without taking risks into consideration. I'm from Philippines, for me its okay that my country is in the last list, but i hoping this coming days Philippines was in the top 20 of the list because as of now many people already in my country invest in bitcoin and trade. I my country many are accepting bitcoin in paying bills. Even if  in the last list and i happy for this result that my country was included in the list.

My origin from indonesia, for now in my country have many people who heard about bitcoin, just not yet many people know how to get bitcoin, I am very grateful because I already know about bitcoin. I'm from Belgium, and I see that my country is on the 27th place, which doesn't surprise me.
We do have a lot of options when it comes to paying with Bitcoin for local online services and goods, but there aren't too many places where you can spend Bitcoin, like restaurants etc.

Don’t take it on heart. My country is also placed at the bottom of the list. But in my country, bitcoins are quite popular among young people here. May be technology is not that common or we are from developing countries, that’s why we are at the bottom of the list. Just stay calm and work hard to see your country on the top of the list.

Im really confused as to why philippines is in the 31st spot. I know a lot of filipinoes that are participating in bitcoin. Some bounty managers even think that were all alt accounts controlled by a single person, which really is a hilarious accusation. I would say that philippines should be included in the top 10. You're not the only one mate who were surprised that the Philippines only rank at number 31. Where in fact, a lot of Filipinos use bitcoin and also active in trading bitcoin. We all thought that the Philippines could at least be in the top 10 list. Anyway, bitcoin users here in Philippines keep on increasing because of its popularity and being able to buy stuff and pay bills by using bitcoin without any hassle.

And if banned, how much more country will be available for legal in their country. But, in my country India still i am confused that whether it is legal or illegal.

last time i saw this thread my country isn't on the list but now i can see that and i'm from indonesia which in the 3rd position under Philippines and india indeed lately i have been seen there are some people has starting to being bitcoin users and regularly trade at exchange so i'm not surprising bitcoin has growing in my country because some of them has feel the advantages during use bitcoin 

Everyday new users were attract to invest in bitcoin, my workmates been into btc since they heard and research it, Filipinos were easy to convince as long as we show them aome proofs that we can actually really earn on it.

I agree. There is that growing community and interest right here in the Philippines and considering that we have so many here who are always active online who are also into cryptocurrency with Bitcoin as the top coin, we should belong to at least the top 10. But anyway, the list is not that very important to me but the fact that Philippines is always on the map when it comes to anything online. We love Bitcoin here and there are at least tow coming Bitcoin exchanges maybe operating by next year. Converting Bitcoin to cash here is no big problem and the government is not stupid just like China (the bully country that unabashedly took some of our islets).

Yes its right that bitcoins are very popular in India, over an estimated 2500 users are accepting bitcoins daily,
Already 5 lakh users are into this business.

But remember this..this data is quite old if I remember correctly... There had been 1 million downloads for the local wallet in India named zebpay, from play store alone.
Thus the numbers are well above 5 lakh for sure:)

Besides I think Japan should have had more users.

I am from Philippines and I am surprised that my country is ranked on the 34th. I am proud as well because the people in my country used to neglect and refuse to entertain the whole idea of bitcoin. Back then, only a few people used it.

In my own opinion, China is the best to earn bitcoins and why?, Because the electricity bills is quiet low and it is the best place for a mining rig to run. There is no doubt why china has 30% of contribution in the market.

Nope, i don't think people in philipines use Bitcoin is a cash trade specific exchange method. I know Philipine's topic is one of the big local forum in here but in my knowledges, Philipines doen't use Bitcoin usual that much.

I am from Bangladesh. In my country bitcoin is not known.I don't when in our country people will known bitcoin I just want that there is a project on bitcoin with our people. Our people are so much neglected in our country. When will it happen.

Im from the philippines why where only in number 31 observe this forum almost 20% is from our country then maybe some of their transaction are in other country thats why its not counted in our country. Some of the pilipinos using other ip thats why you cant trace some of their tansactions.

Maybe because there's lack of connection, people can't access information freely and as a result, they don't know that something like bitcoin exists. You just need to wait until the internet have entirely covered there and I'm sure at the same time, bitcoin already becoming even more popular. By that, the bitcoin users in your country will increase.

I am from the Philippines but bitcoin is not that wide enough.Some may not know of it.It is not widely used here.Still some do not recognize it.And it can not be a mode of payment.

My country is not listed there. Why third world countries do not care about cryptocurrency? I mean, there are many people who are aware of its existence. Why shouldn't they try to spread it? It really annoys me that the fact there are many smart people who are not taking chances.

I really try to spread the cryptocurrency's knowledge and I always get bad feedback unless I show them a valid proof...or rather money.

In the list of 30 popular bitcoin countries for  trading are given below /above in this US is first place to trade and place are spine and the place are United kingdom and fourth place are Russian federation and fifth place only an a INDIA and chine are the 11th place then at 30th place are the newzland and in future we trade more and beat US and need came first place .

I am not going to say what country I'm from for obvious reasons, but my country is very accepting of Bitcoin and I don't believe it is even considered as a possibilty to become illegal despite all the bad stuff that still happens with crypto in terms of drugs/weapons sales, etc.

It is still to early to ulitmately say though because we are in like 1995 of the dotcom boom, just the start.

I am from Brazil. I am surprised to see our country in the top 20 on LocalBitcoins. I didnt know we had such a volume of trading there because I thought our main way to buy and sell bitcoins were the default exchanges like the so called Foxbit and MercadoBitcoins.

Couldn't quite understand why is Philippines not leading. Most of the people I see/encounter here is from Philippines and the amount of people in Philippines who are relying to bitcoin is increasing from time to time. This needs to be updated.

I'm from Malaysia and I didn't know there were many other people buying Bitcoin in the country. I don't personally know of anyone who buys Bitcoin or crypto in general, so it is rather surprising to see Malaysia listed there. Surprised South Korea isn't on the list though.

Well, I don't understand why Italy is around the top 10... Maybe because of unemployment of young people (+30%) and the number of Italians living abroad... Brazil is in the list maybe due to general costs and the tax (IOF) to send money abroad.

I think the ranking is also based on the miners that current build on the specific country. Because the stock and the effect of bitcoin also depends on the miners because the changes and the movement also happens when people trades. But if you will classify our country based on people who uses bitcoin I think its rank wilmette go up, because it is very evident  that  there lot of people in the Philippines  that used bitcoin and other forms of cryptocurrency  as an investment.

Well I am from Indonesia, and I see my country is not on the list and I kinda know why. There are not many people in here know bitcoin, and some of people who knows bitcoin don't want to accept it. Because they don't fully know about the technology yet. Although we have 1 big local exchanger and there is exchanger that supports Indonesia ( Luno ). And I see there are so many Indonesian here on the local board.
For PH people, don't get mad, our situation is kinda the same, people play bitcoin and have local exchanger, at least you are on the list and that's good, and not in the list is not a bad thing also.

The biggest catalyst that'd make BTC price skyrocket higher is simply move all your BTC to your PERSONAL bitcoin wallet (move off of Coinbase, Binance, Bitfinex, Square, Robinhood, CBOE/CME futures).

Fractional reserve, BTC lending, rehypothication is a bitch and can perpetually create no floor for prices by establishment market manipulators.

Plus if history is any indication, one these avenues will blow up and wreck the "holders" of bitcoin that really wasn't there because they failed to take such advice.

Take it off the exchanges and see what happens.

Woah! There are a ton of people from the Philippines and Indonesia in this forum. I mean i know that the south east asia is up and coming but i never thought it would be this much. Then again, I'd think that people replying to yhis thread (including me) would be bounty hunters so yeah. Well all in all it is stil a good news that more and more people are trading in crypto currency.

I don't know if this list is actually updates but it really surprised me that Spain made second in countries that trade crypto currency in the workd at that time. I mean i would have guessed that an asian power house would be second. Of course China is out of the question since they banned it but I expected Japan or even Korea.

in my country, more bounty hunter than trader, you dont need special tool to be bounty hunter, just simple one to do it, and you can do by phone. maybe that is the reason why bounty is the best way to make profit here.
