Title: New users, avoid using https://btc-e.com/
Post by: Rubberduckie on April 24, 2013, 08:13:05 PM
If you like the ability to actually be able to withdraw funds and think support at https://btc-e.com/ would be decent enough to reply to emails, you're best off trading elsewhere.

I've been registered there for years and recently the exchange has gone to shit

Then where to trade LTC?

I'll be honest, I'm not sure. Maybe others know, but if you intend keeping your coins I'd be wary of leaving any on the exchange @ https://btc-e.com/

But it is missing BTC-e's killer app, the trollbox.

If you need to contact support for any reason, yes it can be a problem

At least for me, I trade pretty frequently on BTC-e and have never had delays or problems.  YMMV though of course.

What's with this FUD.  I use btc-e and it's been working fine.  Maybe you need to verify the payouts with an email.  And I use vircurex too.  But vircurex has way less market liquidity.  You can save a lot by using btc-e.

Just wait until MtGox supports them.
You can buy them from me for $10 each then  :D
On a serious note, had ZERO problems with BTC-E so far

I have never had problems and did a $30kUSD bank wire out of there a couple of weeks back no problem.

However there have been so many people posting about hacks or withdrawals being denied that it makes me wary.

I think part of it stems from Terracoin hardforking and people unwittingly traded coins that weren't real which led to btc-e freezing accounts. And there have been some bruteforced accounts it seems. Anything else that people know of?

I would recommend if you have to do trades on there, get your coins off the site straight afterwards lol.

I assure you it's not FUD. I challenge anyone to email support there and see how long it takes them to reply (If they reply).

Even then the reply will be one short sentence that probably doesn't help anyway

I can't find (on Vircurex) an option to send BTC to another BTC address.

Once you've generated a deposit address on Vircurex, that seems to be your deposit address for life.

I use Vircurex and love it, but I prefer having a separate address for each transaction.

My exchange, RBCex, trades LTC, BTC, BTE, TRC, BQC, and FC; each time you send funds I issue you a unique address to send to; there are no transaction fees.

Withdrew BTC without a hitch.

Think the problem is that their support is non-existent. So if you encounter a hitch you are screwed.

So maybe their support sucks. It doesn't mean you should avoid the exchange entirely, especially since it's the best option for altcoins. You're going on about it like they're stealing people's funds. Quit spreading FUD.

I never said they're stealing peoples funds, but their support is non-existent. Merely pointing that fact out :)

Just another SupaDupa account.

I spend quite a time trading on BTC-e, so maybe I can offer an unbiased opinion. There's money to be made, with that being said, I factor in a percentage that I might never receive my funds. I have an email that's over 3 weeks old, no reply. I've followed up a few times, no reply.

BTC-e is wonderful because the traders are typically inexperienced. If there's no hiccups, you'll have a great experience. If you need support, watch out!

i have had never had a problem so far but with all the stealers http grab forms and etc you can easily lose your money and your account .What i recommend is to use a computer apart to trade only and do not use that computer for downloading or for surfing not evan to facebook or you might have a big problem

I prefer  Vircurex (https://vircurex.com/register?referral_id=801-154) to BTC-E.  I've been trading there for over a year with no issues.

If you want to withdraw, go to the "Accounts" page & click withdraw.

I've had no problems with BTC-E. Stay away from clicking any links in the trollbox though, users often link to sites ridden with Java exploits and other nasty stuff - pretty sure that's how at least a few users got compromised. There have been rumors that the site itself was broken into but I haven't seen anything to substantiate those claims. At any rate, I don't leave large amounts of funds sitting around on any exchange, doesn't matter which one. There's always a risk.

Vircurex has my vote... I used btc-e long ago but then I realized the most valuable thing being traded on there was drama and gossip between the infamous troll box and questionable policies/business practices that btc-e has been a part of such as their seemingly biased criteria for having a coin system on it to insider participation in several alts in kind of shady ways notably ruc/nvc

When Bitfloor shut down....again. ::)   (I still have 60 BTC on "Hold" from the first incident). I was looking at the withdrawal options on BTC-E, and they were not very good for US customers.

But I found Tangible Cryptography had either opened registration back up...or started a new service?? Not sure.

I was able to painlessly cash out about $3000.00 of BTC and had it ACH into my account for free. The transfer was processed the same day.

They offer a couple of other ways to cash out BTC, and the rate is reasonable. They buy a few percent below Mt. Gox price.

Don't get me wrong, the majority of my trading is on BTC-E. They really gained my respect after they ate all the lost funds in the LR hack and made the customers whole. This is more then I have heard any other exchange or service do.

Unfortunately, they just do not have good options for US customers to cash out or buy in for that matter.

go to "accounts" tab, then down to BTC in the "chains" section.. and if you have a balance there will be a withdrawl button available

My withdraw issues were just solved today, after two weeks of not being able to withdraw (but deposits worked fine ::) ).  It took much back and forth between me and support, and it took days to get a reply to my email. All the hack issues is killing their service, but as long as you're not recklessly clicking on links and have multiple usernames and pws across all your sites/clients, you should be fine.

I have never had any problems with coins in/out -- and they have even made several Paypal payments without any issues at all.

BTC-e has been good to me, just verify your email before doing any trading, and DONT send to a gambling site directly from BTC-e, because if you win it wont get returned to your address, at least I had that problem in the past. And dont leave more than a few coins on there, so if you plan on making moves, plan ahead because depositing isnt instant.

Trollbox is hilarious but fairly useless, just consider it entertainment and dont make any decisions based on it and DONT CLICK LINKS.
