Post by: MikroTik on April 13, 2017, 09:26:39 AM

I couldn`t login for 2 days after that they gave mi new address, i tried to import old address to use and they put it in watch only and now i can`t get my funds.
I most say that my comp crashed and i lost my private key.
Their support would not even hear me, said they can not help me and that's it.

If you lost your private keys there's nothing that can be done to help you.

Stop using the computer and try with data recover software, maybe you'll be able to find your wallet backup.

wait, how did you lose your private key with blockchain.info?

do you mean your wallet identifier? it should be in your emails at the bottom.

They do not store your Private Key on their site. Did you make a backup of the seed, when they prompted you to do it? I also find that the site

has troubles with Anti-virus software when it re-directs https sites to protective mode. You have great difficulty if you run AV software that

protect your secure sites. I seldom use online wallets anymore and switched to hardware wallets and paper wallets.  ;D

I couldn`t login for 2 days after that they gave mi new address,
whenever you use one address the wallet automatically generates and saves a new private key and gives the public key to you in order to prevent address reuse.
but all the addresses and their keys are stored in your wallet.

Quote
i tried to import old address to use and they put it in watch only and now i can`t get my funds.
you should import your "private key" not "public key"
private key starts with 5 or L or K
public key starts with 1 or 3

Quote
I most say that my comp crashed and i lost my private key.
Their support would not even hear me, said they can not help me and that's it.
your computer crashing has nothing to do with blockchain.info they generate things in the browser and store it on their servers (encrypted) so even if you log in from another pc you still have the same wallet.

I'm not sure if you were attacked, so that your wallet was hacked, or you have lost the private key? As far,as I remember blockchain has some recovery pasphrase that could maybe help you to get to your wallet again.

I must say sorry for your loss(whether small or big amount of btc) but with that kind of reply from them is very unresponsible company towards there custumers/users. I hope people here serve this as a lesson to stop using blockchain.info's wallet.

Even your computer got crash or wreck, it doesn't have to do with your problem since all your backup are generated online. You are using web wallet here and not a desktop application or something like that.

Didn't you managed to save your magic 12 words key? It's a must and one of the first thing to do when dealing with the services of blockchain.info. Try to contact their suppor then.

wait, how did you lose your private key with blockchain.info?

do you mean your wallet identifier? it should be in your emails at the bottom.

+1. Try to locate it OP and respond here.

actually its really good they wont just randomly hand over someone's account info..

the OP obviously couldn't supply them with the info they wanted.

blockchains wallet is fairly anonymous.. you cant just expect them to hand over passwords and such through emails.

Don't know what you mean by this, they give you new address to receive bitcoin as receiving address? It is normal to have different address in their HD wallet.

i tried to import old address to use and they put it in watch only and now i can`t get my funds.
You need to import your private key not address, if you only have bitcoin address your address will be imported as watch only address.

I most say that my comp crashed and i lost my private key.
Their support would not even hear me, said they can not help me and that's it.
- If you lost your private key than you will lost access to your bitcoin.
- They can't help you because they don't store your private key in their servers.

Don't you have a copy of your login details to access your blockchain wallet in the email you used to register in it? Your wallet details and privatekeys are still in your account if you have the login ID. Blockchain wallet does not require you to import the privatekey if you already did it once unless your talking about a different wallet here.

So sad for you but really nothing to do. Login information I means related private key etc is mostly private and sensative issue. Only owners can control it and get access to login. For now, learn your fault and keep going further smoothly following what have you done past.

When we say PRIVATE KEYS its literally private and it means nobody can access other than you,we can't do anything either about it since its your kid's fault of spilling water on your PC.

try contact the support and beg for them,if not then there is no other choice than to let it go and move on. Those matters are private issues we can't conclude anything except that.

Problem is mainly on your side here. Private keys should be stored offline on a piece of paper, or on a piece of metal or other durable objects. If you have done that, you wouldn't be in troubles right now.

If you lost your private keys, there is nothing that can be done to get them back as some people here also pointed out.

In case the hdd isn't totally destructed, try inserting that drive into another system as optional drive and run Recuva. Rucuva allows you to recover files even when they are deleted. Just try it since you have nothing to lose.

https://www.piriform.com/recuva

Choose the free version as that should be more than enough.

They can't help because it's your end to take care of your keys, when you lost it that will be lost forever. Even you are going to beg them if they really can't help on it, you can't do anything on it. They are responsive when I'm trying to contact them with my problem and I can say they really giving me some helpful tips but with this matter, maybe they really can't help you.

They do not store your Private Key on their site. Did you make a backup of the seed, when they prompted you to do it? I also find that the site

has troubles with Anti-virus software when it re-directs https sites to protective mode. You have great difficulty if you run AV software that

protect your secure sites. I seldom use online wallets anymore and switched to hardware wallets and paper wallets.  ;D

*cough*bullshit*cough* they 100% for sure have your private key and if you watch that address I guarantee at some point your bitcoins will leave that wallet. They won't be giving them back to you.

Anywho, use a better wallet, Web wallets are the devil's asshole. Use any non Web wallet and paper/hardware wallets for cold storage.

Thats not completely true. Web wallets are OK to use if you back up your mnemonic seed and secure it well by enabling 2 factor authentication. I have used Blockchain.infos HD wallet for a long time and I have no problems with it. A lot of people say they go offline but I have never encountered it.

If someone doesnt know how to use any BTC wallet and how to secure them he would surely have problems.

Blockchain.info is so far the best choice for web wallet out there . All of us have their preferred wallet platform as the features we want depends on their situation . Many people don't wanna use web wallet because it doesn't give your private key so you don't have a full control over your bitcoins . The company can freeze/block your acc. although unlike coinbase, blockchain has an active support and won't do it for no reason plus if the site gets hacked our put out of business you are doomed cause you don't have your private key . Using a web wallet is not bad as long as you don't store large amounts of money to it .

of course they have your private key, or the wallet wouldnt work.

the issue is the key is stored encrypted. so if you forget your password it wont work.. not even for them..

in this case tho OP didnt lose his private bitcoin key, he lost his blockchain.info IDENTIFIER..

that is the login username.. and its NOT your email.. this is for privacy and security reasons.. as OP has found out, you cant just beg them for it.. if they did give this away to everyone who asks it wouldnt be very secure..

when OP made his account, they gave him a few words.. AND TOLD HIM TO WRITE IT DOWN.. he obviously didnt..

I dont think Blockchain.info can lock or freeze your BTC. If ever their site goes offline you can use the seed words and import your wallet in Electrum. I havent tried it myself but I have read a post about it and its possible.

Water damage will not destroy your harddrive. You can still access that harddrive on another computer or run recovery software, if you need

to recover data from that drive. In most cases only the controller card on the harddrive might have received a bit of damage and that can be

replaced. { Did your kid bath with the notebook or did he just spill some water on it? } All is not lost.... just keep the hdd.  ;D

Its not always the case since he mention about laptop and hdd on pc and laptop is different and once it is spilled with water on which comes to a point it breach the internal parts then it would be hard to recover but if it just spilled out without affecting too much inside then it can really be recovered and theres no worry on accessing again the files specially your keys. This situation is new to me which they do lock a certain wallet.

Lately I also have trouble logging in using my alias in blockchain. I think they disabled it already. I have to use my identifier to be able to log in in my account. That might be causing your problem in your old walllet. Your identifier is found in your email.

I think it is a good thing they are not giving away private keys or seeds easily. The owner are the ones responsible in keeping the private keys safe, not the web wallet. If you lost it, sorry, but it is your responsibility.

yeah but im not sure what he is going to recover.. blockchain.info doesnt store anything on your drive..

when you sign up they give you a word list.. maybe he saved it as a txt.. but you would still need your password to use it and if he knows his password he should be able to log in.

I was looking for something there and at one point all my bitcoins desapeared, then I managed unarchive some addres and get it back, but it all for a long time probably at some imported address, that , and its scaring   :   Imported Addresses  Not backed up by your Recovery Phrase. Transfer into a wallet to secure funds.
