How long does a trade take?

If you think you’ll get rich in a few weeks you’re setting yourself up for disappointment. The failure rate of traders who came to work for a day trading firm I traded at for five years. Can’t talk about successful without failure. How long it took me, and many of my trading friends, to develop consistency (in various markets). This is the time requirement.About 3 to 4 out of 100 men who attempt it will be able to make a consistent income from it.Women have a much higher success rate. From my experience, the success rate for women who attempt short-term trading is about 40%. With the right work ethic, about 4 out of 10 women who attempt it will be able to pull an income from short-term trading.

To Answer your question...it’ll likely take six months to a year–trading/practicing every day–until you are consistent enough to pull a regular income from the market. If you make money in the first couple months it’s likely pure luck.

It took me four months before I had a profitable month (day trading, everyday). I had small losses in the prior three months of full-time day trading (stocks).

After that the profits continued every month for the next 4 years. That’s when I decided to focus on forex (mostly swing trading).

How long does a trade take?

It depends on what kind of trader you are, if you are a day trader a trade will last anything from a few hours to some minutes, if you prefer to trade long term then a trade could last weeks months or even years, there are many people that hold bitcoin since the beginning and have not sold their coins, so that means they have maintained their positions for almost a decade.

As quoted there is no stipulated time period in trade. It completely depends upon the user who have engaged into the trading. In my view long term and short term were the common trading aspects. Beyond this people just buy hold it for a short and looking the progressive growth of other altcoins used to invest on it to make better profiting. This continues through out the day and the end result gives the profit or sometimes if our coin value drops loss will be ours.

I am into a trade which is still lasting even after years lol
The life of a trade is purely dependent on the target you will be setting. You may finish off a trade in less than a minute too if you just want to cover exchange fees or even some times under heavy fluctuating scenario, you may get decent profits within that one minute.

No one could exactly predict how long a trade may take. Because the tools we are having will support only price-wise analysis not in terms of time span. Only in speculation we are getting time frames, but they are purely guess-works/based previous similar incidents.

Depends on how good your skill and how experienced you are with trading, if you got a good skill then you can earn in a day, but sometimes you need more than a month before you can earn profit, the most important to know what coins to buy and to trade

How long does a trade take?

What trade are you trying to point out? If you are pointing about a trade in an exchanger then it is not a problem for you to take a lot of hours because it just need your money and a order either in buy or sell and just sell or buy then you can do trader immediately without waiting for a long time. Trading does not take a lot of hours of you are fully trained as a trader and you can easily make money without having any problem.

Dont know what kind of trade you are pertaining too since there are different kinds of trade. (Trade Altcoin/Forex/Stocks) and (Trade- Peer to peer transactions of Goods/Money etc).
I dont know which would i answer but lets make an assumption,if you are talkingg about trading on altcoin or either bitcoin, trade usually take depending on the movement of a certain coin and if you decide to sell off on a certain point then that would be the period of such trade. When you are talking about trade p2p of goods usually this will not took to long.

Depends also on your trading and risk apathy. Most successful traders are long- terms  analysis trader. People that trade short-terms do loss all their risk capital to impatience and over trade but those That trade has a business mind to trading and plan long time to succeed.

Depend on your strategy and market exactly. People says in market we can rich in minutes but also poor on second, let's try to understand that. Trade is not the easy way to get profit and also need hard work. Sometimes we need more time to get success or even we can't reach that. Be careful with your money and spend your time wisely. Loss money we can find again but time will never come back. Good luck.

It depends on how you trade, as of this now in bitcoin we see our market is consistent in increasing. They continues to pump, this is a great opportunity to every one especially who has a big value of bitcoin.

Since the bitcoin price are not stable they have a sure profit, just need to wait the rigth time  for the right price. We can't predict that event but reading and making idea through others will help to make a decision for trading.

I think much better to trade in the long period of time just like the past month, the price is almost $1k and now it reach $2k. This is a luck happenings in a professional trader.

Well, it really depends upon your target that you have set to earn from it. Now your target is achieved in a month or week or day this is what it takes for a person. As there is no fix time to tell that yes it is going to take a month or a year or so.

I guess I am close to my target and it took me around three month the BTC is gonna hit $2500 in a day or so.

You got the point and i think much better to focus in strategy and margin how you can make a good profit for your own margin..
Even you are a long time trader you can set your own good margin.
Make different tier of margin so that every time the price was increase and decrease you can get the benefits of the price market..

Maybe the best part to do is to separate his funds on it since he can do long trades for half of his coin and short trade the remaining half so that he can earn for its little flactuating movements and he can be also earn for long term goals remember market margins are little mor tricky and it can be bad for us if we just let it hodl for so long while we doesn't know what will happen to our coins nowadays.

If you're lucky you could earn profit on a trade in less than 10 minutes but if the exchanging service you are using is manipulating trades and volumes like what yobit does then you need to wait days or even weeks.

But AFAIK if you click on buy or sell for your order to fill up automatically that means you're selling or buying what is already exist on the order book so then your trade is complete immediately..

I have some open orders in some exchange and I've put Bitcoin order for sale @$2700 whenever price rises that high my trade will be completed and I'll profit more than $900 on a single Bitcoin.

How long does a trade take?

I would say it depends on your style of trading and how comfortable you feel in each type of trading. Some guys prefer to scalp the market and take profit from small price variations. Those trades could take like 1min. Some prefer to take a medium approach, and actually try to spot a trend in the price, and leave the trade open for a while, others take a long approach and it's more like an investment, and the trade stays open for days. I usually try the medium or long approach, because I find scalping to stressing, and I can't do it very well.

And that's not the only qualities that must be had.

That's depend what your goals on trading. There are two kinds of trading. Its long and short trading. Me, i preffered long term since altcoin have good future. Sometimes i do short trade. Pump and dump for better explanation. This is risky because the coin could dump fast and eventually lose your money. Don't jump on peak if you know theres no reason of pumping. Look at Doge.

It depends on you because in trading we can't decide on what price would take this coin. So definitely we should set some goal to maximize our losses/winning. Trading needs patient

Nah, skill is another factor, the only real factor that determines how long a trade could last is the market itself. The pump and dump are decided by the market. Even if you're kind of skilled trader who always got high profit but if the market is pretty stable and rarely have movements, it seems that your trade will take forever.
And in my opinion, different coin have a different time to pump and dump, most of it uncertain though.

How long does a trade take?

it varies dude depending onhow long you're willing to wait. certsinly the longer ones have more promise of profits as the longer you hold on to it, the higher the price it may get in the future. though you'd need patience here as some coins go through dumps during that time that may make inexperienced traders panic. you can also do shirt term though the profit won't be the same as that if you're holding on to your coins. try to have some coins to hold and do day trades as well to see where you're more comfortable in

How long does a trade take?

To trade it entirely depends on the market situation and you, we can only see the development if you think you want to sell it because it has reached the target profit or cut lose because the price is getting down, the point there is no timeframe for take trade maybe a matter of hours even for months.

For beginners like me, I think there is no time limit for to determine sales. After getting enough profit, I think that's when I close the trade.

Two minutes can benefit if you're lucky. For those who are professional there are many ways to determine them by reading the chart or candle stick to find out how the target pump or dump. Need patience and proper analysis. And for me this is very difficult. ::)

Yeah exactly, no one can predict that how long a trade takes. It needs a very much technical analysis and the speculations that an investor faces take him like a pendulum. The to and fro motion of the prices will never let anyone to make a 100% accurate prediction.

I have come cross some professional traders are making time based predictions but I guess it will not be that significant because market volatility is like God, beyond anyone's control.

There are 2 things either the market will go with you which is really rare and second thing you will have to waot for a really long time. Trading is very risky if you do on yobit as their support is really bad , plus they have many shitcoins listed so if you buy those you may end up with a huge loss for a very long time.

Yeah I agree. Trade is not something that is totally dependent on the market situation. But mostly we see people setting a specific target for every round they do through. Like my target of $2000 reached quite early than that of what I was expecting for it.

It is not like I have to hold the coin for one year and after one year whatever the price it will be I will be selling my coins on that price. My target of $2000 reached and I was done with one round and now is another one.

Indeed, there is no certain answer as some coin should be different with other coins, some could pump and dump within hours and others could take days or even month to get decent profit but usually ended with loss because not only one person who after the best peak to sell. There are plenty of traders who competes to get money from others, that's why just few people get profits while mostly always loss.

Time varies dude. It depends if you want a long term trade or short term or what you call day trades. Mostly day trades can give minimal and decent income but if you're looking for real earnings, a long term trade would be more profitable especially if you stumble upon a good altcoin or icos. Its good to try both to see where you're comfortable at

In trading I think time is not a goal to be accomplished, but that profit is a major goal in trading, and I never analyze how long I will gain in trading, but I only analyze where price movements will occur, move up or Down.
Because to anticipate so as not to mistake in analyzing market price movements and of course expect profits and minimize losses.

Depend your strategy and price action on real market. Actually, there's no limit because even your strategy correct but real market is bad you'll never get profit. Trade is investment, not an instan way to get rich. It's look easy but really needs good plan and high discipline to grow up. Use long time period and be patience, never greedy. Don't forget to use only 40% from your money and believe with yourself. Good luck.

Depends on what style you want to trade. There are short and long term trading, In short trade you can profit/loss in a seconds, minutes, hours depending again on what target profit you want. Short trading usually requires big amount for you to see your profits. Long trading could take you at least a year and up depending on what coins you have for long trade and if your satisfied with your gains.

6 months involving trading should be considered as investment because investment is also a kind of trading. There is a type of trading which is termed as scalping in forex trading which needs just minutes to find a result. Traders just go for ups and downs of price movements and keep on entering and booking profits. On the other hand traders do go for month long trading too.

A trading strategy which follows updating target and stop-loss levels based on current trend must be a very good way of trading. This type of trading usually will take months to book profits and stop-loss levels just above entry also will guarantee minimum profits.

Trading is basically short term and relies on technical analysis for how much time you will need to trade to reach your target.
Though upward target does not always hits as its for so much short period of time and for that much time, market is really volatile and fluctuating always.
Also one can do day trading if he knows that he will reach his target. If you are trading its better to square off nearly soon as you reach your target.

How long does a trade take?

It all depends on when you decide to go out of the market. It has no specific long period of time, as all depends on whether you have reach your target profit or not before you place a sell other. And on the other hand, if you discovered that the market is going against your buy other you can equally place a sell other to avoid lost of your fund.

You can't become a trader over night and you can't make some profit over night, it takes time. People often think that trading is some method that enables you to become rich very quickly, you just have to buy low and sell high. But things are far more complicated than this and it will take months before you achieve some result.

i think we know that doing trading can take a longer if the price is not increase so we can sell for getting profit. in one night, we can make big profit and earn big money but we don't know when its happen. all we can do is doing more trading to earn more money and if we can this with keep focus to trading then i think we can getting rich in a short time. the more we do in trading is can give us opportunity so we can earn more money.

The fact is your really cannot set a time schedule for your trading, you could speculate that a particular coin could rise at a given time but it wont be certain as anything could happen.@ OP if you are looking for the amount of time to be profitable then that is the answer,if you are in profit then you could trade them if there is enough buyers,it all depends upon how much buyers are there.

Short time trading is not for newbie since transaction is fast and if you are new without research on any coin, you might end up as a bagholder or either you wait the price to rise and got profit. I do short trading also but I did not buy from Sell order, but instead put my Buy Order, when it is filled then its good. I set my price for the lowest  deep the coins possible they can dump.

In my opinion, a trader should never look at time frame of a trading event. He must be ready to wait infinitely, so that he will be capable of facing any results and regardless of any result he may go for another trading with full mind set up.

How long does a trade take?

It depends on you and depends on the market movement. Some altcoins are very stable so you should wait more time to trade so you'll get profit. However, some altcoins are not stable so it's better to trade with it with a short period of time to eliminate the risk. In my point of view, there is no certain time on how long does a trade take.

That question totally depends on you the trader and the type of trade he/she wants to carry out...
there are three types of trades classified in terms of time,, we have short term, medium term and of course long term
short term traders are daily traders their trades can last any thing within minutes, hours and small amount of days..
medium term traders are targeted traders the once which only sell when a certain condition is attained they can last for several days and weeks and months
long term traders are actually called investors to some extend because they put their money in a project and rip out gain after a long time months and years can pass by,..
but again the definition of a short , medium and long term trade still depends on the individual. what i have listed above is the average i have seen a result of combining many opinions from other traders and myself...

What do you mean by trade? If you are talking about trading cryptocurrency then it is easy to trade because it need only a broker and your cryptocurrency and you can sell it in just a few seconds after the deposit has been made. Most of the trades are easy and it is not complicated but you need to make sure that you are trading to make profits and not to get a loss.

Depends on what amount you have set on it and how much longer you can take to hold on your beloved coins since all trades matter on your decision, And you should take wise counter action before casting your decision since you might gonna lose some profits nor capital if you patience is quitely bad upon executing some trades on fellow altcoin alive there.

How long does a trade take?

All will depends upon the traders that how much time he can hold his loss and can trun into profit .
If the trader is making day and trading then I am sure that he will not hold his trading with particular coin for long run or more than one week . But if a trader is having a patience to hold the coins and have confidence that he can make loss into profit with long time hold , then in that case we can't sure that how much time will take for him to get profit .
Here I myself making trade with coins and sometimes it takes three months ( atmost in my life of trading job ) but one of my friend hold coins for two years also ( that seams unbelievable ) for me also .

If you own the trusted account in any popular exchange, you can get the trade continuously if your trade set value is applicable for the people who need to sell or buy the bitcoin.
Once anyone opens the trade with you need to make the payment or wait to receive the payment. You have available cash and bitcoins in your wallet according to the trade that is must need to follow.

This is a subjective term and you will rarely find an exact same answer from everyone. Technically trade is something that takes place for the short term (for example 1 minute to 3 days), anything above that is an investment in my opinion. When it comes to the market hours I have noticed that, ideally, people usually hold the position for 5 minutes to up to an hour or two.

How long does a trade take?

If you are asking about how long will it take for you to earn big bitcoin profit in trading activity? well, this will depend on you, If you know the proper way of trading, I think its round about 6 months in above.

Yes, time frame for a trade must vary based on trading instruments rather than just traders. I mean one trader might have different time frame for different trading assets. I usually let my trades to be opened based on where I am trading and also what instrument I am trading. When I am trading forex and I am into scalping mode, a trade hardly takes 5 minute long and bitcoins I never go for trading all my bitcoins are into investment mode only.

My altcoin trading takes various time frame from 15 minutes to 2 weeks also. But I never accept altcoins for investments, they are suitable only for trading and in particularly intraday trading.

As I said, it is a subjective term and there are traders who hold positions for few minutes and there are traders like you who prefer hold positions for weeks. I have noticed that investors are more comfortable in holding bitcoins for the long term instead of altcoin and usually altcoin investments are based on the current performance of it. I think forex is the only sector where traders take positions for short time span but high risk as compared to that of others.

Well there are a lot of successful day traders out there who are earning in short term bursts also so i think as long as you know what you're doing, it can take just days or months for a successful trade. For me it's not how long it takes but how much profit i make

The duration of a trade will always depend on the temperament and emotional management of the trader. A trader's apathy towards a trade, whether a scalper, a day trader or weekly trader. Sometimes, even planned day trade takes a few minutes to fill up and profits made depending on the fluctuations in the market at that time. I like longer time frames like the 4hrs and daily frames because they give one a clearer picture of the market. But that doesn't mean scalping aren't good or profitable.

depend, for example im only holding bitcoins and i dont have a specific time to sell, this can be a trade too, but depends your personality, if you have experience with trading, if you can wait days to sell anything or you are compulsive.

Holding is not considered as trading. Because by the word itself, trading is exchanging goods to another goods which is opposite to the definition of holding. You will start trading once you stop holding. Holding is just a strategy used trading. ;)

Then from your point of view what is the exact meaning of trading. You will start to trade and buy any coin suppose if that coin price drop will you sell your coins or you will hold it until it gives some percentage of profit. What you will call for this process Trading or any other word. Holding is not considered as trading means how can you say that holding will be the strategy of trading.

But there are two options when i say about holding, the first is hold to use as money in the future and invest in the future, the secons is only hold to get a good price to sell in a long time, in my case its the second option.

It will takes a long time maybe you need 10years or 20years to have a million. But of course you need a lot of patient here when you enter trading, because trading has its own risk. But it is really depend on how we work on it.

Until you stop or until you lose because trading is is a system where you can gain money or lose money but when you take trading as a long term investment you will just earn money as time pass because the price of the cryptocurrency is growing just like the time because when the supply is will be lessen the price will go up.

Maybe he means that doing a longterm trade is quitely profitable but i will simply disagree with his thoughs since their are several cases that traders losses their money for doing some long trades since some of those coins who exist in trading sites are shitcoins and we can only count to our finger on which are them have solid plans and better to do an short trades so that we can earn from them frequently.

What do you mean here by long term trades? Long term as an experience or traders will do long holding of a certain coin to be trade?

If long term trades like literally doing trading for a long time, Im agree that there are traders who still have lots of losses even already build experience by doing trading for long term.

About long term holding, then why hold those coins that is prone to being a shitcoins? If a person will do a long term holding, make it to the point that their study bring them to the idea that the certain coin is worth to hold for long. Good candidate would be Bitcoin, Etherium and other promising coins that fit to the criteria. Those altcoins that is meant only for short trades can also hold for long but it's not worth it. We don't want a small profit out of holding it for so long in the first place. :)

The question is interesting and some answers are even more interesting than the question. If you wanted to ask the timeline a trade processed by an exchange, this is only seconds. If you meant the period we buy and hold the assets, this is totally up to the investor.

How long does a trade take?

It depends on what style of trading you prefer to do. Short term trading can take in just minutes. However, long term trading can take months or even years.
