Postalgia Blockchain

By harnessing the power of blockchain technology, Postalgia aims to create a referral program baked into the blockchain.

This also contributes to marketing the product, by relying on word-of-mouth of our loyal users and advocates, because where else do you look to these days when researching a purchase; well you turn to your friends and social network of course!

Further down the line, we plan to integrate photo storage onto the blockchain, where we can literally make your memories last forever. We can learn from the likes of Factom for their data storage technology, or Siacoin, Storj, and Maidsafe for their storage sharing technology.


Postalgia Token

We believe that the core principles of cryptographic currencies, as Satoshi clearly pointed out in his Bitcoin whitepaper, are decentralization and immutability. As such, we have decided to build the Postalgia token, $POSTA, as an erc20 token secured by the Ethereum Classic network. By doing so, all updates to the ETC network will also be enjoyed on the POSTA network.

All POSTA tokens will be distributed proportionally to participants based on their share calculated as above, including bonuses.

The apps are free to download, and users pay in-app for purchasing physical photo prints and products, which provides a direct revenue stream and immediate monetization model for the business.

As the next priority, we will be developing our e-commerce website to provide the same services as the mobile apps, but with more features suitable for desktop usage. In addition, we are currently designing a user-generated content marketplace where users will be able to share their photographs and get rewarded when other users use these photos.

Brief History
 
The Postalgia project started out with Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) in the form of an Android and iOS mobile app in 2013. Our goal then was to build a product with the minimum features required for the idea to work, and launch the proof-of-concept only to Singapore users, to take the time to iterate with feedback from customers and improve both the physical and digital products.
 
Since then, we have learnt many valuable lessons about the limitations of our current product, largely in terms of scalability. For example, some problems with the current system include:
> App can only be downloaded for users in Singapore.
> App is restricted and limited to the specified existing product types only.
> Current database built in django with very messy code, a very primitive backend, with occasional bugs occurring in payments and order management.
> Currently product & print production is done in-house.
 
In addition, one of the critical challenges we still face today is the lack of a technical partner, so all development was outsourced and hence costly, and it took a long time for us to push out updates or fix technical problems.
 
 
Roadmap
 
To bring the Postalgia project to the next stage, we have set out the following roadmap as our top priorities moving forward:
> Expand the business to serve an international market

> Develop version 2 of the app and e-commerce website

What started out as a side project and proof-of-concept has come a long way and now grown into a fully profitable business with over 10,000 registered users, and hundreds of unique monthly users. Yes there will be an ICO for the tokens, which will be an erc20 token.

No it will be nothing like MLM, which means Multi-Level-Marketing.

For Postalgia's case, this is for existing users to refer new users to the platform and apps, and to get paid for doing so. There will only be one "level" of payouts.

We have been having some issues with the deployment of the token, but I'm happy to announce that the token is finally complete!

We're currently working on the final touches for the ICO site, and will be sharing more information on Monday.

Based on our own research on the topic, seems like the most obvious use case for Photography on the Blockchain would be for securing copyright information (and in this case, images), something which Blockai is attempting to do.
While other use cases include:
- electronic timestamps
- image registry
- photo storage - verifiable that it is the unaltered original verision

I have developed and deployed the ICO site and ERC20 token on my testnet and it should be ready for use as soon as the UI is completed with final inputs.

The smart contract code has configurations for the start/stop of the campaign, the base price of the token, the discount ladder (bonus structure), the dev wallet as well as the founder wallet.

We are currently on track to have the crowd sale UI ready on Wednesday. At which point we should be able to deploy the token and ICO.

I am waiting for more information and announcement, and project that using crypto tokens is interesting and worth to wait.

Without deep inspection into this thread I immediately see a system that can be abused based solely on the words referral and rewards.  If I get a reward for referring a user to a wallet, then all I have to do is get my primary wallet and pose as referrals to that wallet.  If you are requesting any info of a personal nature for security, then you have left the realm of decentralized currency.

We have just sorted out our advertising campaign with some display ads and targeted social media campaigns, which has already kicked off.

In the meantime, we are tracking progress closely and working behind the scenes on product development, namely on the mobile app development, and on Project Advocatus which will enable word-of-mouth marketing with smart contracts.
