Why ETH  price Up today? What happened? what news did I missed? ???

It's just how things operate in the altcoin markets mate. Maybe some whale just decided that ethereum was a good investment and therefore they pumped it. Maybe it was a short squeeze meaning that a lot of people tried to short ethereum but there was a lot of bulls pumping the coin so their positions were forced to be liquidated and therefore driving the price up even further.

And it's not even a particularly big pump. Nothing to be this excited about lol.

It's because of ethereum contract is becomeing populart where in most of ICO use ethereum contract to provide the requirements for their coin and also to strengthen their foundation which also benefits ethereum as we are expecting that the demand in eth would increase as we need to pay eth as fee for transferring tokens.

Well, general positive sentiment and network usage is at peak, people and businesses  use it. ETH network usage is higher than btc and it still costs cents to transfer and confirms fast.

Well said. This will be the case even more with the launch of a few new ICOs such at Status and a few others which IMO should be successful.

Exactly, I think some whales decided to buy a lot in a shot time. Also, there is another possibility, more and more ICO projects use Ethereum smart contrast and accept ETH as ico payment, more and more people buy the ETH and the price is pumping.

Don't follow ETH, so I wasn't aware of any great rise--I'll take OP's word for it.  I don't think any news items ever cause ETH to pop or drop, because there's never any bullish news that's legitimate.  As stated, this is just the market's forces in action.  Big money is obviously being pumped into bitcoin and a lot of altcoins, and that's what's causing everything to be inflated.  I'm kind of curious to know exactly where this money is coming from, but I don't think that's ever going to be revealed.

Ethereum's demand keeps on pumping thats why the price of it keeps on getting higher. As of now the price of eth is going upwards it reaches 336$ now. Today ehtereum is becoming more and more popular thus the their big community keeps on growing to and lately more inverstors investing to ETH aand to their project thats why its price keeps on going upwards. If you have ETH keep and hold because its price will constantly go upward in the future.

it is simply 2 things:
- the hype and the advertising team hard at work to spread the word all over the internet and get people to put their money in ETH.
- all the ICOs that keep popping up which all require you to have ETH tokens to invest in them. and I think everyone knows how hyped up they are!

yes i think so the market trend is in long term but beside that any reason why the etherum is up like more people buying etherum for join ico project that use etherum  ;D

ETH has lots of good news today. Korea, russia and china are getting into Eth. It will go to $350 then eventually to $500.
Buy and hold for sure.

but to me i thin people are very positive about bitcoin. i think because of the increasing demand of Etherim the price is trading so high. may be in future it increase more and more, because still people are confident about Etherium and are continuously investing assets in Etherium.

The experience of the last weeks is:
BTC goes down = Alts going down.
Its the fear for the crash leading the market players to handle like this.
But another experience of the last weeks and month is: ETH knows only one direction: Up.
A further experience of the last weeks:
~3000$ might be the unbreakable top for BTC at the moment.

ETH seems to move up almost every day with or without news. I think these days in crypto you don't need to get excited unless its a 50%+ increase. The altcoin market as a whole is seeing a new influx of both users and developments.

More people try to buy ethereum and put their eth on the promising ico to get the a lot of profit by flipping his money. That makes the market fear of missing ethereum token and make the price is really high right now.

Oh I see the price of ethereum now its 300 dollars and im very happy because the price continue increasing and I hope it will increase more.  I think why ether increasing because many people as of now buying and holding their bitcoin. I hope many big investor will invest to the ether. This altcoin is the next bitcoin . Pump ethereum and more power to this coin. More ethereum more money.

I have no idea to what happen in ETH because their price was strongly raising up and I was confused how it happen but I think it was good for the ETH users.

Already passed 400 dollars and 500 can't be far. I disagree though its not the next bitcoin it is and will always be its own kind of coin and we can profit both from ethereums rise as well as bitcoins.

I was checking the graphs and was surprised how the price reached to $414 within a minute or so  then checked the poloniex graph and saw that price got pumped hard.

Now its back to 370 not bad comparing with Friday where the price was at 250, unfortunately I haven't invested there :(

It went! The ethereum price went down and the "dump" was more than $100 which is a lot for etherum near 25% - 30% of the ethereum value in dollar.

But one thing hasn't changed too much, that is the exchange rate of the btc/eth, its around 0.14BTC, this was similar even when the bitcoin price was at ~$3k and when etherum price was ~$400.

The ethereum price bed dependant upon the bitcoin price, although it also has nearly a 10-15 percent market dominance rate, the bitcoin market after all control the ethereum price rate with a higher market dominance so what happened to bitcoin will reflect ethereum

Every coin as for now follows bitcoin price trajectory. Bitcoin has undergone a decent pump today, other coins specially the large mcap ones also surged along with Bitcoin. ETH being the second largest mcap coin is highly dependent upon BTC price action as when investments start coming in BTC, it also flows towards othe rcins specially ETH. Thus, ETH price surge is already expected.

bitcoin started bullrun ... 2-7 percent per day.
