Oh man, you need to check out the Global Peace Index! Find it here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_Peace_Index (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_Peace_Index)

Iceland has topped the list every year since 2013.

And New Zealand, Portugal, Austria, and Denmark round out the top 5 for 2017.

I've visited Iceland, New Zealand, Austria, and Denmark...all are very friendly, inviting, and jovial places to be. This ranking has been compiled every year since 2007. Check out how low ranked some of the G8 countries are...surprising but not shocking.

Brazil is in position 100?

Wow, my country are in a good position.

Something Shocked me, why the hell is the United States in position 114?

Switzerland comes to my mind. They are a powerful nation, and yet they haven't invaded any third world nation unlike the European Union member countries. Also the calm peaceful island nations in the Pacific, such as Palau, Micronesia and Marshall Islands.

They're right smack between European powers so they had a policy of neutrality, just to be on the save side. The terrain also somewhat helps.

In Asia I would think it would be Japan. Save for skirmishes with the Chinese, they're not embroiled in any international conflict and have no terrorism problems. Same with South Korea, the only thing you'd have to worry about is the North.

Pacific island nations, I don't think they'll still be in existence by the end of the century.

As soon as I saw the question, Switzerland came to my mind. I lived there for 3 years for school. It was very peaceful and clean. My friends and I, walked outside at night, we didn't feel dangerous. But we still be cautious. Because it was too peaceful, sometimes it was boring too. lol

I've never been abroad so I'd probably just go with the ranking. In general, ethnically homogeneous countries tend to be more peaceful because of reduced internal conflicts. The Nordic countries seem to be on top of the list but whether that would continue in the future is unknown....

I really do not know and can not guess to answer this question. I guess we should try living in some countries in a few moments to be able to answer this question. Because if you just rely on the source on the internet, a lot of nonsense things are preached, or we can call a hoax. So we can not completely trust what's on the internet.

Because the US has been almost constantly at war since it's inception, and in the past 50 years or so has started more wars than I can think of.

Deaths from guns are also very common, not that the NRA would admit that.

Even though the US doesn't tend to be on the receiving end of attacks, there can be a lot of hate crime and unsettling behaviour, especially from governments.

Really depends on what you think peace is for a country.  The US often does not contribute to peace.

so with what the statistic said iceland is the most peaceful country in world i'm not sure about that because i've never been there i was thinking that japan came inside my mind since i haven't heard any news regarding to any conflict inside their country and they are really standing tall in terms of terrorist attacks and civil violence.

Japan has progressed a lot. After looking at the level of genocide which they perpetrated during the 1930s and the early 1940s (especially in China and Korea), you will be really surprised to see their current state of affairs. Perhaps that is the only good thing which has come out of the ongoing American occupation of Japan.

Japan is a good place to get over with your vacation due to the fact that you're safe from terrorists and bandits. In contrast, it's quite sad that it points directly to the ring of fire which means they are really prone to earthquakes and being near to the pacific ocean gives them a lot of hurricane per year than any other countries.

IMHO, I consider japan as in the middle tier in terms of peace. I find the word peace in connection with not just the people, but with the nature too.

It's not as buffeted by cyclones as the Philippines though. It's mostly the tsunamis to watch out for, they have very strict building code and many of their buildings are sturdy enough to withstand quakes.

Other than that, the peace and order is high than most other Asian countries. Of course if you're a foreigner wanting to move and live there then you might have some trouble.

Peaceful countries do not exist. If you dig into the history of any country that ever was necessarily sins. The man is very aggressive and constantly being with someone at war. Only the existence of nuclear weapons keeps many countries from war. At the moment the Nordic countries are friendly enough, but it was also the era of the Vikings.

Switzerland is one country I would like to visit someday. I been in the States, Canada and Asia. But I don't know why I was attracted to Switzerland though. Once thing I've notice though is that the culture is a blend of German, French and Italian which makes it culture very interesting. I think there are a lot of multinational companies their because of the low taxes. So there would be a lot of opportunities if someone decided to work there. In Asia, I think Japan and Korea are the best place and most peaceful.

Iceland is the first country which comes to my mind. Criminal rate is very low here, I heard that people in Iceland aren't locking their house doors.
I think New Zealand is also peaceful country. I can't remember when I heard bad news from New Zealand last time.
Also, small European countries like San Marino, Liechtenstein, Faroe Islands and etc is also safe and peacful (i think).

I am afraid that things are about to change in Iceland. They are importing a lot of Muslim immigrants from the middle east nowadays. So far, they have behaved themselves, since the population is low. Once the population crosses a certain threshold, they will start beheading the native men and raping the native women.

The first three that come to mind are some places in Canada, Japan, Switzerland etc.
In general the farther North up from the equator in general the more peaceful it is relative to the Southern hemisphere in my opinion.
Which is why Iceland Greenland and other Nordic countries Netherlands etc seem to be relatively peaceful compared to African countries and the Middle East area.

LOL, like in Sweden? They actually already have no go zones for police there.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNEZQTSJv4Y

When I saw news about girls in concert getting "balled" (men surround the girl to prevent people from coming close and see, and take turns molesting the victim), I was really appalled that these would happen after they took in and fed those ingrates.

No such reports yet from Iceland but if the trend continues, they could be on their way to being a rapefugee camp.

You can find even more peaceful countries in which there is no interest in other more developed countries. It is because of the fact that the interests of the world leaders do not overlap, so even Indonesia is considered a calm country.

There is a Scandinavian country, I can't remember which one right now, that doesn't have a military budget.

If there were ever a qualifier for the most peace loving country in the world, I believe that would be it.

You may be referring to Iceland. They don't have a standing army. So they have agreements with other nations such as the United States and Norway, to protect their borders. Although there is no army, Iceland maintains a small peacekeeping force, coast guard and armed police contingents.

Netherlands would be the top. Not only that they're closing almost of their prison cells due to lack of inmates. They do give time to rehabilitate all their citizens especially those who committed crime for them not to do it again.

Every countries has the chance to be peaceful as long as people and the government help each other for the good of all. But, I guess this is far from happening.

Why dont you read the formula for evaluation before you start asking the question? They are blatantly stated there.

My country is in number 6 spot and I agree with that. People tend to be mean to each other, but it rarely escales further than verbal insults - even in nighclubs and bars. No terrorism, no rioting, no civil wars, no massive ghettos, no mass shootings, no religious fundamentalists. Perhaps we would be even higher, if we just left NATO.

I am suprised though, that Sweden (fucking Sweden) is still at number 18 (falling from number 8 in 2010), while United States is at number 114. Ill give you that. Swedish government already effectively lost control over some urban areas of the country, which would be unthinkable in the first world country just a few years ago.

Researchers might not have all the data, when calculating. Otherwise, Scandinavia (except for Iceland) would be much worse off. Political correctness perhaps?

Japan's probably the safest country in the world, thanks to its aging population. Switzerland used to be fantastically peaceful, but some of its neighbors aren't and the borders are easy to cross.

Japan is the safest country because the cops there are very efficient and they prevent the crime from happening. They have one of the lowest rates of murder and rape in the world. Also, they don't import uneducated Muslim immigrants from the third world nations. That helps.

My guess, Canada, Austria, Australia, Denmark, Finland, Greece, and maybe Japan.  Because I never heard of any terrorist or any brutal crime done on those countries.  And also given the fact that they were all rich countries so maybe there are less crimes or maybe no crime at all.  People are busy enriching themselves and much more focus on their work and maybe all have jobs so there is no time for doing crime.

I know, that Iceland is just as badly hit by neomarxism and multiculturalism as are scandinavian countries.

But the effect might be even worse. Once islamist consolidate their foothold in the streets of Reykjavik, there is nowhere for natives to go. In Scandinavia better of people undergo "white flight" and leave for countryside to get out of ever increasing cancer of islamic ghettoes.

Where will poorer Icelanders go exactly? Vast majority of their small island is frigid tundra. That wont end well.

New Zealand and Switzerland are okay... But India? Really? Are you serious? India can be a very dangerous place for anyone who doesn't have brown skin (especially for the women). Women are not advised to go out after 9 pm in North Indian cities such as Gurgaon and Noida. Recently someone even mentioned that the name of Gurgaon (village of sugarcane in Hindi) must be changed to Rapegaon.

I think a country peacful in the world is Iceland. The country has an almost perfect level of democracy, gender equality and a very low crime rate.
In the education sector this country is also successful because 99 percent of its citizens are free from illiteracy. This achievement is possible because the people of Iceland do not have to pay to be able to go to school.
The people of Iceland are also the most information-literate citizens in the world and are in the top position in terms of reading and book publishing.
The involvement of women in various sectors is also very high. Iceland was the first country in Europe to have a female president, Vigdis Finnbogadottir elected in 1980.
One more advantage of this country is free from mosquitoes because they can not live in the natural conditions of Iceland.

Eyes narrow it's a shame for something that you eat dogs. China will never be a safe country. You have too big a population to not be poor. And the poor it is always the object for the replenishment of street gangs. Ecology in General is a concept not known in China.

That is simple. It is because the US has taken part in many wars lately or more specifically from year 1990 until 2017 ,it is the country which was active in the most wars that have happened during this time around the world. That is why US in 114 place.

Yes I agree.  They are the safest because there were many soldiers in there.  And since they are the safest maybe you could travel then to these countries.  Just be sure to bring guns or at least you should be Leo of the Matrix to stay away from the bullets.  These countries are all in the Middle East, sad that they are beautiful before and this what happened.

They didn't have war last 400-500 years.
In political relations are neutral and have good relations with all countries in the world.
I don't think that they have any serious crime in the country.

First, it is a hard question to find an exact answer for it but according to me scandinavian countries are the most peaceful of all because these counties are very rich and life quality is very perfect in these countries. Crime rates are lower than any other country on earth. If i had a chance, i would live in a scandinavian country.

Iceland tops the list of the most tranquil countries on Earth, as this is really a safe place to live. Iceland almost always remains aloof from world conflicts. This country rarely or never falls into the headlines of tabloids. You might think, but who needs this rocky islet in the Atlantic Ocean? But this is an amazing place, impressive with its natural beauty! Tourists from all corners of the world come to Iceland to view its huge glaciers and raging volcanoes, as well as numerous unique natural and cultural attractions in its capital - Reykjavik.

The Dutch were also famous for their role in the Atlantic slave trade. Along with the Arabs, it were the Portuguese and the Dutch who shipped the maximum number of slaves from the African continent. The others, such as the Spanish and the British, were late entrants to the scene.

Surprising to see Canada up there in the top five. Some of my friends are from Canada, and they frequently complain about high crime rates. But I agree with the remaining four. Japan is the safest country, having a population of more than 140 million. The others are small nations with a population of only a few million.

In the past 2 years, india has recorded highest rape incident and most of them are very small girls. I hope in the coming years that India will alao improve to become one of the most peaceful country in the world.

Switzerland comes to my mind. They are a powerful nation, and yet they haven't invaded any third world nation unlike the European Union member countries. Also the calm peaceful island nations in the Pacific, such as Palau, Micronesia and Marshall Islands.

We have the same choices as far as Pacific Island nations are concerned.

I think life there is very chill and relaxed. Without too much complications and problems.

The only peaceful region in Indonesia is the island of Bali. It has remained peaceful, because the island is having a solid Hindu majority (around 80%). But even there, the Muslim population is increasing.

But I think there is no peaceful country as all countries have different problems they are facing.

It is also called upon to mediate some global uprisings or wars as they are known to beneutral and be able to mediate terms that are not in favor of one party.

But one thing is for sure they are trying their best to resolve this issues for the sake of peace and for their country also. Eould anybody loved a country that you can't even guarantee your own safety? Of course nobody would choose that.

Japan and Switzerland is definitely up there, but not Canada. I would rather substitute Canada with New Zealand. Among the big countries, only Japan will qualify as a peaceful nation. The crime rates are quite low, and the people are very friendly (although according to the latest studies, around 57.63% of the weirdness around the world originates from Japan).

I agree it is surprising but not shocking. Maybe of the G8 countries have used a policy of intervention and activism to "keep us safe" or in reality keep searching for that golden oil. Anyways to touch on the main topic here, many small European nations are very peaceful. They've had moments in the past but for the last 50 or so years it's been a great time of propriety for many small EU nations. - not looking at you Greece. :P

Bhutan is one of the most peaceful countries in the world. But can't say the same thing about Nepal. During the 1990s, tens of thousands of people died there as a result of the civil war. Even now, there are racial tensions between the highlanders and the lowland inhabitants. And speaking about Tibet, it is no longer a sovereign nation.

Iceland is a very isolated region, similar to New Zealand. That offers them the natural immunity against the rapefugees from third world nations such as Syria, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya. But recently the left-wing liberal government which is ruling the island nation has been trying hard to change the demography of the country. Check this:

The rape rate is significant in Norway, but it is not as high as it is in countries such as Sweden and USA. And there are a lot of nations with a rate of rape which is lower than that in Norway, like Japan and Singapore.

Not only is New Zealand peaceful and don't have many imigrants and troublemakers, as far as I can see no nukes is pointed at New Zealand either, Only problem they have got is earthquakes.

Netherlands was a peaceful country before the Muslims started pouring in. Right now, around 10% of the Dutch police is composed of Muslims. The crime rate has risen considerably over the past 10-15 years. But I do agree with the other choices.

My favorite, Canada is the most peaceful and peace loving country. The country has very low homicide and crime rate. Canada is one of top educated country in the world. The percentage of tertiary education population of the country is 52.6%. The unemployment rate is very low, just 5%.

Hmm... Canada is a beautiful country. Its is even bigger than the United States, but the population is only around one-tenth of the US. That means that there is a lot of open land and forests unlike the concrete jungles of Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco.

Which countries in the world do you think are the most peaceful and peace-loving?
I live in China, and I think that China is the world's most peaceful and peace-loving country, which is universally recognized because China has never invaded other countries around it and will always lend a helping hand to help the weak countries.
Chinese soldiers invaded India in 1962 and present situation with India is also not good.
I think China also invaded Korea.

China never invaded Korea. During the Korean war, the Chinese and the Soviets supported the North Koreans, while the Americans and their allies (the United Kingdom, Canada.etc) supported the Southerners.

Most of the wars starts because of conflicts with its neighbors. New Zealand is an island nation so it has no neighbors. Perhaps this was the reason that new Zealand does not have. But this country part of United Kingdom and it is possible that her soldiers participated in the wars under the British flag.

Yeah..... even during the world war two, Switzerland didn't sided with any of the warring parties, although the Swiss bankers were actively involved in the financing on both the sides. Perhaps that is the reason why they are among the most prosperous countries in Europe right now.

Lots of countries maybe wanted to be peacefull but they always somehow was in path of bigger plans and bigger powers. There is only few that managed to be peacefull, mainly because of their geographical position.

A lot of countries would stay neutral if there is no any beneficial from going to be unpeacefull. A lot of countries does not even get consequencies after being rude in war and they still got money or something else. My point is that if they want to be neutral they can.

Definitely not the Russian Federation. The crime rates are way too high, and the Muslim immigrants from Central Asia have over-run most of the big cities. On top of that, the Russians have to deal with the Islamic extremism in the North Caucasus region.

For me, I think, a peaceful country is non-existent. We must be always ready for anything in any place we are in. The terrorists don't choose a place where they will attack, they just attack wherever and whenever theg want. All we have to do is to be alert  and to stay safe.

The case with Iceland is very similar to that of New Zealand. These nations are peaceful, because the immigrant hordes are unable to reach these islands due to their remoteness. But the situation is changing, as the Muslim population is increasing in both these nations.

The war on drugs could have only made the Philippines a safer place. From what I have read from the media, the crime rate has decreased ever since the anti-drugs campaign started, with a noticeable decline seen for homicides and kidnappings.

For me, I don't think that there is still a peaceful country because of what happening in the whole world. In all country, there is a crime that is happening in everyday. Especially in Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, South Sudan, and Yemen where you can found no peace because of the crimes. But according to researchers, even there is a low and high crime rate in some country they give the most peaceful country which are Iceland, New Zealand, Portugal, Austria, and Denmark. We  can achieved a peaceful country if we help each other to avoid problems.

Do you know the reason why Luxembourg is more peaceful when compared to the other western European nations? Most of the immigrant blue collar workers in Luxembourg are from Luxembourg, with small numbers from Eastern European nations such as Poland, Russia and Ukraine. In the other western nations, the majority of such workers are from the Muslim nations.

Historically those would be the countries that rarely attacked anyone and tried to stay away from conflicts. There are countries like The Czech Republic and former Czechoslovakia that just weren't aggressive compared to other countries. Poland also tried only to defend its borders and was attacked from all sides in 18th and 20th century.
Nowadays you just don't know when and where a conflict will start, but we are living in the longest era of peace in history. It's a blessing.

I haven't have a chance to live in other counties aside from my country but I think Iceland is the most peaceful and peace-loving country. It has very low criminal rate. I would love to visit that country. But if you are looking for relaxation, I offer you my dear country, Philippines. We have great beaches and the people here are very hospitable. We treat foreigners extra special. Though, it's not safe today because of the current war on drighs. Hopefully, after years we will.establish as peaceful-loving country.

I agree with you. Some of the so called peaceful countries are not that peaceful on the inside. Take the case of Bhutan as example. It is widely regarded as the most peaceful country in the world. But this is the same country which ethnically cleansed it's Hindu minority in the 1980s.

Greenland. Low population. Plenty of land. Practically no crime. Then Iceland because It has no standing army. And the only time it's ever gotten involved in war is when it has been attacked.

Plenty of land indeed, it's mostly ice. I would not want to live there. Greenland and Iceland should change names, would fit each other better.

I think Peaceful is free from conflict and i choose switzerland, Switzerland is a prosperous country and enjoys great relationship with most other countries. Its neutrality underpins this prosperity,Because of the neutrality they’ve been maintaining since long time ago, Switzerland has friendly relationship with almost every country.and i like geographic location surrounding mountains, :D

In my opinion, the Antarctic if it can be labeled as a country is the most peaceful in the entire world, I am not sure there is any division in the penguin over there and they don't bicker among themselves about the inequality and justice all the time. Human beings are the cause of all whatever woe befalls the planet.

What are you going to do with all that barren land and glaciers in Greenland? It is not suitable for any sort of agricultural or industrial activity. However, some people predict that as a result of global warming, vegetable farming may be made possible in Greenland in the distant future.

In Europe, a lot of countries that are very economically developed and people there are just happy to live, therefore very friendly. This is Switzerland and Denmark, even Portugal. Not that there is a so-called Schengen zone. Of the others, these are island states, where any other person is generally something special.

I chose Iceland. where Iceland was affected by the world economic downturn of late 2008. Its investment banking industry collapsed. Hence the demonstration and a number of people injured. That's also because the coalition government collapsed in January 2009. But Iceland remains peaceful and growing again.for the initiator of the GPI, Steve Killelea, this is a clear indication and example that the peaceful country is more resilient and capable of self-refit.

Switzerland comes to my mind. They are a powerful nation, and yet they haven't invaded any third world nation unlike the European Union member countries. Also the calm peaceful island nations in the Pacific, such as Palau, Micronesia and Marshall Islands.

For me, the most peaceful countries are New Zealand and Canada because aside from being in the list of the most peaceful countries in the past few years, they were also the countries that we don't often hear that their country have an issue on what so ever it is. But we did hear that they are a nice and great country to live in because indeed they are the most peaceful countries existing here on earth.

I don't know how practical is your idea of Arctic farming. A lot of the land in the Arctic areas are getting wasted as a result of the thawing due to global warming. As the temperatures rise even further, most of the permafrost will melt, resulting in vast swamplands where no farming can be practiced. Converting these regions to farmland will require huge investment.

Swamplands can be drained, sure it will cost a lot. If other farmproducing areas are put to dust then arctic farming might be more profitable.

#5 in the list definitely don't belong there. Sweden has replaced South Africa as the rape capital of the world many years ago. The Somali, Afghan and other Muslim immigrants have turned cities such as Malmo as no go zones for the native Swedes. Unfortunately, the neighboring Finland is also slowly moving in the direction of Sweden.

Agree very true and in Switzerland too the same thing is going to happen. Was a very safe place but things have started to change and unfortunately not for the better. Cause of this has been a flood of various other cultures which see things differently and do not adapt to the rules and culture that we have.... Oh well lets see what happens.

Portugal is the most peaceful. This country has a large number of police offices and internal security offices to keep the peaceful of the country, and also the people is this country are friendly

Based on an article I have read, the most peaceful countries are Ice land, New Zealand, Denmark and so on. Despite of all wars, riots, crime, bombing and so on well it good to know that they are countries you can go and take a break to a messy world. It is good thing that we still have a country that are peaceful. And we still have countries that we can go if we need to escape from the countries who are still fighting for there rights.

For me the only countries that are truly at peace are those that have a certain history and have a small demographic / area. Moreover, the political climate must be stable. By that I mean countries like Iceland, Norway, Finland, Estonia. These quoted regions must truly experience an exceptional quality of life.

But in the end, should not we go to the prison side? The lowest prison population: Sweden.

Rape is now happening in almost every country in Europe due to Angela Merkel open door policy, I am beginning to wonder if she consulted the other European leader before she made the decision or whether they were all in on it because they say a little boy drowned on the beach. Switzerland is in a relatively better position, as it is not an European Union member. So the country is having sovereignty over its own borders. Also, the largest political party there (SVP) is quite opposed to immigration from the Sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East. But I am concerned over the rapid rise in Muslim immigrants during the last few decades.

And they are not only in the peaceful country, but also in countries that are hidden beauties and paradise. What a wonderful place, once I was wealthy? that's the first thing I'm going to do because of the greatness of my attraction. Yeah.... and I could agree with that. NZ and Iceland are remote island nations, and therefore it is quite tough for the illegal immigrants to migrate to these nations. Portugal is not an attractive option for the immigrants, because the welfare system is a bit tough. The remaining two (Austria and Denmark) are having some of the toughest immigration policies in the European Union.

Very little counties like Luxemburg or San Marino or Andorra tend to be peaceful because they don't have an army big enough to threaten anybody.

Countries such as Andorra and San Marino are peaceful because they are located far away from the major urban centers. Most of the population is living in small towns and villages, where there are very few foreign immigrants. The crime rate is low and the education levels are quite high. Having a homogeneous population also helps a lot.

There is a reason why the crime rate is so low in Japan. Unlike the western nations, Japan doesn't allow third world immigrants to enter their country and work there. Most of the immigrants there are Koreans and Chinese, who are culturally similar to the native Japanese. Also, the Japanese government never gives out freebies for the immigrants.

Brunei, Philippines, Indonesia? What sort of BS? Could you please explain your criteria? Brunei is quite prosperous, but there is a lot of discrimination there against the non-Muslims. And Philippines is the same country where around 6,000 people were recently shot dead during the war on drugs. And the less talked about Indonesia that better. Remember the Bali bombings?

I heard that some island lost  in the Pacific are extremely peaceful.

These small island nations (such as Nauru, Micronesia, Tonga, Palau, Kiribati.etc) are peaceful because they are very remote and there is no harmful influence from the outside. And in most cases people living on the same island will all be known to each other. So the chances of physical confrontations and quarrels are reduced by quite a lot.

Living in Austria it is pretty peaceful here. But there are serveral layers of peace imo. The obvious one is a military internal or outside conflict the country is tied to.
The second layer are internal conflicts of society. I doulbt there are countries that are fonished or their way to the perfectly peaceful society.
As long as a Paygap, descrimination towards race, gender, sexuality etc. exists there is plenty to do for a society sriiving towards peace.
And even once this open minded equal society exists there are many internal conflicts, as there are always backwards thinking homophobic racist hillbillys fighting this equal society.

Other nations are OK, but it is quite hard to believe that Australia is a peaceful nation. Denmark and Iceland are on the list for obvious reasons. Denmark is having very strict immigration policies, as a result of the rise of the Danish People's Party. They have placed severe restrictions on the refugees, who claim welfare benefits. And Iceland on the other hand, gains from the natural isolation. It is an island situated in the Arctic circle and the third world immigrants are not that interested in living there.

The United States is quite peaceful, when compared to the third world nations. But when we compare it to the other developed nations, we can see that the crime rate is much higher (especially in the minority dominated areas). You can compare the crime rates in countries such as Singapore and Japan to those in the south-eastern United States.

In orther for the country to be considered as peaceful, it needs to have a very low crime rate. The countries that I know that has really low crime rates are Abu Dhabi, Japan, Iceland and more. Also, aside from the low crime rate, there’s also the good government officials.

In the United Arab Emirates and Japan, the punishments are quite tough, and that may be the reason why the crime rates are low. Also, the conviction rates are quite high in Japan (the Japanese police claims that they have close to 99% conviction rate). I am not sure why the crime rate is low in Iceland. One of the reason may be the absence of large numbers of immigrants.

Wow, that's an interesting list, thank you for sharing. It more or less corresponds to my thoughts. I would say Canada and Switzerland are the most peace-loving, and they are practically in the beginning of the table

Tough punishment for crime will determine everyone from committing any evil,Look at Thailands tough stance against the people who bring drugs into their country,  death sentence irrespective of who the person is. I applaud that judgement a lot.

Agreed. My choice is Japan because of their buddhism background. Buddhism is a way of life that is focused on maintaining peace and stability. I think it contributed a lot with the lifestyle of japanese on how they deal with peiole and how they have maintained order when it comes to government and also their totality.

The courts got reformed, although they still need some serious work. The police got more people and more resources to catch criminals, and they are. There are lot of good laws on the books. There are victims rights centers now across the country with lawyers, psychologist, and other experts to represent and help the victims of crimes.

No traffic problems. No industry. communal life is continuing. I see turkey as a calm country. There are some military interventions because of the fight against terrorism. but it is generally a quiet country.

The United Arab Emirates is one of the more liberal GCC nations out there, at least when compared to the stone age nations such as Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. But still they have some archaic rules in place. For example, if an unmarried woman gets pregnant by her boyfriend, then both of them face imprisonment. This is what happened to a couple from South Africa a few months back.

Iceland is a small country and is still one of the most peaceful nations in the world. But Ireland has transformed from being an underdog, to the status of a major economic power. And this transformation has attracted immigrants from all over the world, and some of these immigrants are engaged in petty crime. The crime rate in Ireland has risen during the last decade.

There are many reasons why Japan is one of the most peaceful nations in the world. Some of them are:

1. Japanese citizens are educated and law abiding
2. The Japanese police is very effective and they have close to 99% conviction rate
3. There are very few third world immigrants in Japan.

Yes, Bhutan is the country I was talking about

Bhutan is the same country which ethnically cleansed one-fourth of its population almost three decades back. The reason was that they believed in a different religion and they spoke a different language when compared to the ruling class. For more than two decades the refugees were living in abject conditions, before the United States resettled most of them.

Any country with absolute peace is a country without a future. so long as there is potential even between two siblings they're bound to be war at the minimum stage. At the other hand, outside human or material factor, a nation that knows God and recognises him will have and experience reasonable peace. peace is not the absent of war, it is how to manage the war and still be alive.

Check out how low ranked some of the G8 countries are...surprising but not shocking.

ohhh my Counrty on №154 so sad  :'(

You are from Ukraine? Don't worry much about the rating. It is just a temporary dip due to the ongoing conflict in the Donbass region. Once the conflict is over, Ukraine will become peaceful once again. But that said, I don't know for how long it is going to wage on. Just a few days back, 5 Ukrainian soldiers and 8 rebels died in gunfight near Lugansk.

I actually don't have an idea though I think that the country with most law abiding citizens is the most peaceful country. I strongly agree that when people follow the rules and guidelines of their government, then there would be no conflict.

New Zealand is a very peaceful country, but I doubt for how long it will remain like that. The government is an extreme-leftist one, and they are importing tens of thousands of third world immigrants from every nook and corner of the world (including Somalia and Afghanistan). And close to 20% of the population is either Maori or other Pacific islander.

I thought that Singapore was  a peaceful country  - till I found out that they have  a huge Tank force in Singapore. What I found out was really staggering.

With the help of advisers from Israel the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) used mandatory conscription called National Service to maintain a sizable standing army with the best equipment money could buy. This mindset is still apparent today and as a result the Republic of Singapore possesses the most advanced military in the region.

more is here.

https://21stcenturyasianarmsrace.com/2015/04/17/why-is-singapore-armed-to-the-teeth/

And still I believe my friends living in the city-state of Singapore are 1 of the world's most peaceful nations. They are just armed to their teeth - and it's guarantees them their Freedom.

Cool, isn't it?

Most peaceful country I believe is Japan. They are known for being well-dicsiplined. It is being tought on them at a very young age. Even in the simplest things, they are disciplined. As I have heard, medias in Japan does not focus on the bad things that is happening instead, they focus on the good things that can give positivity in them.

In my opinion, the most peaceful countries are: Switzerland, Japan, Sweden, Norway, Finland, New Zealand and Canada.
The fact is that Switzerland has already lost its banking attractiveness because of the new law on the abolition of anonymous deposits point so this country is also in the risk zone If something happens in the world. But Japan is forced to be peaceful, especially after the concluded treaties after the use of nuclear weapons on their territory.

tell it to Pakistan or Bangladesh. They say both India and Pakistan already have atomic bombs and only knowing that another has it too - stops them from full scale nuclear war start.

During an everyday life - right they seem peaceful and friendly. And ask them about kshatriya cast - they are supposed to fight during a war, and be war mongers unless there is a war at the moment. So we'd wait and see, wait and see.

Switzerland is still better than other countries, as far as individual liberty and personal privacy is concerned. And the Japanese have been historically a law abiding people, despite their strong martial tradition. There are a few exceptions obviously, such as the Yakuza.

The Japanese are not only law-abiding, but also ethical...for example, they will never throw garbage on the street...which is not true about some other countries...although they don't even have a fine for it...it's just a matter of ethics...and I'm proud of them

I think the most peaceful country is Singapore because the people there is so disciplined by their government. It is safe to walk around at night because there are a lot of CCTV in the roads. The crimes there is lower than the other countries.

Iceland is the principal nation which rings a bell. Crime rate is low here, I heard that individuals in Iceland aren't locking their home entryways. I think New Zealand is likewise serene nation. I can't recollect when I heard terrible news from New Zealand last time. Likewise, little European nations like San Marino, Liechtenstein, Faroe Islands and so on is additionally sheltered and peaceful.

Have you ever visited Singapore? That nation is also like that. The people are very law abiding and they never throw any garbage in the street. In fact, I would regard Singapore as the cleanest, safest and most friendly country in the world. I have been to that country only once, but I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The same can be said about South Korea as well.

Which countries in the world do you think are the most peaceful and peace-loving?

Here are the most peaceful country to live in.

1. Iceland

Iceland tops the list of the most peaceful countries in the world, staying out of the main conflicts in the world. Iceland seldom or never hits the headlines and despite the collapse of the Icelandic banks several years ago, the country is remained as an amazing place of spectacular natural beauty.
Tourists from all parts of the world come to Iceland to view its huge glaciers and raging volcanoes, as well as numerous unique natural and cultural attractions in Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland.

2. Denmark

Denmark is the second peaceful country on Earth since it’s really a safe place to live in. Even while Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, was under occupation by the Nazis during the World War II, it still did not fight.
The point is that people living in Denmark prefer to focus on economic matters, instead of involving themselves in various armed conflicts. Danish people are very friendly, open and helpful. Personally I have been to Copenhagen twice and I wish I lived in this wonderful city. I’m pretty sure that those who have been to Denmark at least once could say the same.

3. Austria

Austria is a small landlocked South Central European country, which gains a place on the list of the most peaceful countries in the world for its stance on international politics. Since World War I and the break-up of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and World War II, Austria has been content to embrace a life of peace and serenity.
Many people claim that Austria is a great country to live in and I do agree with them. After all, with its world-famous resorts in the breathtaking Alps, and magnificent cultural centers like Vienna, it’s not surprising to see Austria on this list.

4. New Zealand

Each year since 2007, the Institute for Economics and Peace has ranked New Zealand as one of the most peaceful countries in the world. With a small percentage of its population in prison, limited military capability, strong relations with Australia and down-to-earth hospitality, New Zealand is a wonderful country to live in.
This is a country of natural beauty, diverse scenery and quirky natives. Visitors from all over the world come to New Zealand to experience the rugged landscape, breathtaking alpine glaciers, awesome beaches and fantastic geothermal and volcanic activity. The country is also renowned for its fine wines and there are a great number of grape varieties planted throughout New Zealand. So if you are a great wine lover, you should definitely visit New Zealand at least once in life.

5. Portugal

You might be surprised to know that Portugal is one of the most peaceful countries in the world, but it is true. The country has been a member of the EU for roughly 27 years and it forms a part of the European Monetary System and use the single European currency. Portugal is the world’s 43rd largest economy according to the World Bank and it has one of the highest GDP growth rates among the OECD countries. The country has the low crime rates, great standards of living and a stable government. Plus, fascinating sandy beaches, golden plains and impressive mountains, a millennial heritage, and vibrant cities make Portugal one of the best places to live in.
