I had created a thread with the title of this post, which garnered over 3000 views and over 60 replies.

It was deleted.

Not locked. Not moderated.  But expunged.

It was actually full of lively debate from a lot of people other than myself.

Expunged.

Why?

We need to really start bringing attention to the censorship here.

I call shenanigans.  This is obviously a move by the admins of this forum for damage control, to keep Mt. Gox from suffering the fate it so rightly deserves.

There is definitely collusion with MtGox by the admins of these forums.  You people are being taken for a ride.  Wake up.

I can see at least getting rid of anything illegal in the country it's hosted in, so you can keep the forums, but getting rid of this = ...

The mods/admins/developer/exchange owners are all mates. It's kind of ridiculous to have a decentralised currency with such a centralised core.

You want 100% uncensorable forum - post your post to Freenet.  Freenet + Frost setup is 5 minutes,  +Freetalk is another 2.
Anyway what was the post about? Did it contains something "bad" like more leaked private information etc?

Then by all means help decentralize the Bitcoin world further and start another forum. As an experiment, you can simply start a Bitcoin thread on 4chan and see how well that goes!

Thank you piuk.  It was a rather good discussion about the weaknesses of MtGox and exchanges in general, but there was a large bias against MtGox by most of the posters there, and really put MtGox on the chopping block.

It should be apparent to everyone here now that behind the scenes the major players are connected, and you are mostly a bunch of patsies in their game.

I didn't see the thread but removing it was a completely fucking retarded thing to do.  Mtgox is a disaster for bitcoin and needs to be killed off.  The bitcoin-rich above all should realise this is in their interest.  We need a healthy selection of secure, competing exchanges... basically the complete opposite of mtgox.

Also the wording could be more suitable to an honest discussion. Would you consider understanding the fact that "Do you think people should still use MtGox?", is more likely to appear to invite an unbiased discussion?

If you are open to trying out new methods, then perhaps you can learn to be an asset to the community, since your level of passion and intensity is obviously so strong.  :)

Yes, you sheeple need to learn once and for all that Bitcoin was just revealed for what it really is: The most elaborate Ponzi scheme ever. The so-called "hack" was nothing but a ruse to cover a cash-in of many bitcoins by many early adopters. All with the blessing of mtgox, which got a nice cut of the profits to allow this. All of the early adopters have been repeatedly proven to have ties with the CIA, NSA and even PETA, so this is just a giant scheme orchestrated by the government in order to keep wealth from the bottom 99.99999% of the population. If you sheeple don't abandon Bitcoin RIGHT NOW you deserve to be bumfucked any way the government sees fit. Go to the smaller exchanges RIGHT NOW and sell every last bitcoin you have, salvage what you can.

If you uneducated and unwashed masses will keep using Bitcoins from now on you would only strengthen the government's grip on your balls. If they see you still using it they will try to profit even more from your lack of brains. You forgot to mention that all of this is orchestrated by the communist Bilderberg group (also called here by the name "Satoshi"), which is the organization behind the designing of Bitcoin and implementing it as a tool to bring faster the New World Order and the Global Government!!

The furture of BitCoin legitimacy is locked to MTGox because it is the largest exchange. That means that right now BitCoin needs MTGox badly.

If MTGox is deemed a danger to use and it's legitimacy is questioned to harshly, so is the bitcoin for many.

Don't expect that to change.

Expect that, and the censorship to deepen.

Plus, BitCoin leaders have stated that BitCoin can use some investment, which is certainly something MTGox can provide with the profits from their transactions.

It is not unheard of for those with money doing secret backroom deals with those in need of money.

Freedom of speech also includes the right of forum owners to set standards and rules for their forum, or (for example) would you rather have the Chinese Gov. enforce their own special concept of freedom?

The point is they expunged a rational well reasoned evisceration of MtGox by numerous community members.

Synaptic, a lot of people on this forum have a disdain for the the main stream media. The msm has already been calling scam and ponzi scheme for weeks which means that even if Sotashi himself came out and admitted it they wouldn't believe it.

I don't agree with the deletion at all. Of course, I don't know what was in the thread beyond the first couple of pages, as I didn't stick around to read it. Neither can I now know. If a thread needs shutting down, lock it. Deletion is extreme.

I still don't see the need to delete a thread.

I believe they're trying to hold back a secret. When Mt. Gox first set up support.mtgox.com, it had a comments section, and two separate people asked MagicalTux to "confirm or deny this", with a link to a thread in this forum. When I clicked the link, I got an error saying that the thread didn't exist. Both posts led to the same URL.

Nothing is being hidden. I will provide copies of deleted threads on request. Just send me the URL.

I don't have the URL. Mt. Gox is no longer offering public access to the page that had the link now that their main URL no longer redirects there.

It sucks how when the big trading sites take a DDOS or go offline, the BTC value drops instantly.  BTC will obviously be worth a fortune in the long run but I wish we could make it through 1 week without a disaster!
