Experts I need your help,,I am thinking of buying 2-3 bitcoin this month but just wondering if it's a good time to buy or should i wait for the price to drop?

I'm not an expert but I think you will have the opportunity to buy bitcoin at 2000$ (maybe less) this month, I will wait about 15 days and buy bitcoin (not large value) at the weekend 22th July, thats just speculation...

I don't know what you should do. August is the big month. I don't really know what would happen to bitcoin when the hardfork occured. Just buy when you feel comfortable on the price because i don't what to do either because we don't know if it's a good news or bad news. Im just looking for altcoins to be trade for long term as a substitute.

The price could go either way, esp. after the 1st of August, so you could cut your risks by half, by only buying half the amount of Bitcoin that you originally planned on buying.

Good time to buy now, don't listen to FUDDERS that the price will drop soon, I've seen this many times

I'm not expert in trading just a speculation. Bitcoins and other Altcoins is  a pump and dump so this is the very good time to buy top coins in coinmarketcap. just saying buy now while its still in the blood days .

Once bitcoin is essentially fixed on august first the price will go up and up because it will be useful again. You can't have a decent faucet anymore because the fees would be 10x what you'd ever earn.

As the bitcoin is experiencing price drop along with the majority of the altcoins that have got good market value the price pumping can be expected in a short time period. Just based on the same without thinking of the upcoming split it's good to buy than selling.

Its better to buy now since many altcoins are on the red and has dumped a little and probably, many altcoins will pump. Bitcoin too is on the dump so I think it is a very good time to buy, I expect price will soar again if the changes implemented by August 1 is good but if it is not good, I think it would dump and recover later on so it is still a great time to buy.

bitcoin:
buy in the dips and hold. the long term will always be profitable for you. and if you are afraid to lose, then first invest as much money as you can afford to lose and don't go over budget. and second you can always watch the price to sell in case you thought a big drop is coming. but if you did the first sentence (buy in the dips) then the chances of price going lower than that dip (the price you bought at) is so small.

altcoins:
buy in the dip but make sure to sell them right afterwards (for example in less than 2 days) because altcoins have started their downward spiral but in this journey to the abyss they will have some small come backs where they come back up (a bull trap) and then continue dying. with good timing you can make some quick profit.

Don't hurry at now, you can waiting and checking the price of Bitcoin. In today, just breakdown the price of Altcoin and Bitcoin still stable in range $2500-$2400, if the price of Bitcoin in next day falldown, Altcoin will continue the road going to real value

I have made my mind not to buy any bitcoin currently. Bitcoin will bring more opportunities in the future and waiting for it is worth at this moment. The august splits can turn the world upside down and better to stay away from this chaos. I will probably stay neutral and if the price drops in august then that's even bigger opportunity to buy more bitcoins.  :D

You should still buy Bitcoin regardless of the price now, as I believe it has a lot of potential for growth in the future. Not everyone now knows about Bitcoin, so go ahead and buy before they do. :)

If you are still unsure, you can buy a little by little too, or sell when the price reaches its peak. As for me, I am still getting Bitcoins and holding onto them.

isnt segwit2x accepted by community? it is %85. people are scaring but nothing will happen at 1 August i mean i think people are going to sell their coins and whales are going to collect them at low.

i am not expert but i want to give an advice. you can buy part by part of bitcoin and don't buy the whole bitcoin because you can buy with many lower price. you can make 3 or 5 order buy in the market and don't order 2 bitcoin in just one time buy. do it with several times so you have many lower price. i did this when i want to buy bitcoin or altcoin and before i buy, i make analyze first, in how much price i want to buy. you can do this too.

Is this because of the August 1 event that is why a lot of people are buying the altcoins?
Because of that belief that when bitcoin goes down then altcoins went up?
I think it will just be a good thing if you would be picking the right coin where bitcoin investors will be dumping their money from the withdrawn bitcoins.

Am of the believe that it is time to buy and sell bitcoin at the same time. This is so because if you had already bought bitcoin lower than the current market value and you are cannot hold for a long is time for you to sell. And If you are a long term investor it is time for you to buy because bitcoin market value may not move lower than $2,500 or thereabouts. The ball is now in your court.

The thing is that there are several possibilities that might turn out to become reality.

1. SegWit2x gets activated (likely)

2. SegWit gets activated through UASF (likely)

3. SegWit activates how it originally was intended to happen, but miners prevented it from becoming reality. (not so likely)

If we look at how the community would prefer things to be, then the first priority would be given to the BIP141 proposal, and after that comes BIP148 (UASF).

I think there is no other thing to do than to wait how everything will work out. It's impossible for anyone here to precisely describe what's going to happen.

Last month, the lowest price of bitcoin was around $2315 and whenever dip occurs, it's a good time to buy bitcoin.
Current price at $2550 is normal as we know bitcoin fluctuate a lot within $100-$200 but mostly consider as stable.
Depends on your purpose to buy bitcoin whether for long term or short term investment, buy it before August 1st because if segwit activated, its price will increase significantly.

The fact we do not know what will be happen after segwit and i think buying bitcoin is always recommended because sometimes bitcoin price is bursting increase so you have a chance to make profit if the price is increase high.. and i think the price today is cheap that i think we will see a large price increase before end of this month..

What do you think about short time dump after activation of segwit? I heard and read about it, and that is possible to happen with bitcoin price. Its a bit risky but selling in next couple weeks and buying while price drop can be profitable. One more important thing is separation of bitcoin on two coins, I wonder whst will be the price od that other new coin, or both will be new?
Like you two and some other people I also don't know what to expect, I read whst some experts have to say about this but most of the so called experts don't know what will happen after segwit, all I see is a lot of guessing and predictions without any arguments, we must agree that this is something new for everyone and what ever comes after segwit will probably be a big surprise for many of us here.
For me time is for selling, and waiting a good moment to get back in the game.

Even I believe there would be a dip after segwit even if it is for short term. There may or may not be a chain split. Segwit2X which is a hard fork is not backwards compatible and will lead to a chain split by default, as long as there is enough support on the minority chain for it to continue and If BIP 148 is not signaled by more than 50 percent of the network hashrate by August 1st, then there will be a chain split otherwise not. Anything can happen between the time SegWit activates and the hard fork is attempted. For now, it seems more likely that a chain split will be avoided on August 1st. Let's see what happens and there will be the impact on bitcoin accordingly.

So far no one has any certainty about bitcoin in the future will always be king in the crypto market or vice versa, but all hope with bitcoin progress faster because this has a positive impact for the users. And about the right time to sell or buy Bitcoin i think depends on our beliefs, but it seems that for the next few months maybe bitcoin prices will continue to rise.

It's always unpredictable and the same gives unexpected price increase and drops. So from my view it's good to buy at the lowest possible. Maybe right now it's good as the price is expected to move high or low after august, if lucky you'll get profited in a short else need to wait a little. It completely happens on your personal interest and analysing on the price moves.

Monitor the market. We cannot entirely say if Bitcoin will go up or down. But as we approach the date for the activation of segwit, we will encounter so much volatility, maybe some drop but not harsh. So it is best to pay attention to the market especially on the final weeks of July. Major fluctuations will happen on those weeks. Buy when the price drops and hold it tightly ;)

So many experts as always I see here giving their priceless tips lol, Bitcoin has been always a profit giver, every time you buy it you can later earn a profit.
I have another tip for you, buy half of your money some Bitcoins and the other half some Litecoins, LTC is very cheap given the nature of crypto currencies and it might start to rise a few hundred percents over the next month. any body holding BTC would tell you to buy and hold but I'd say buy only half.

Well why would it fall so deep come August 1? I can't find much of a solid cause for that.

It could look as if your coins have been doubled or even tripled in number (some folks are claiming that there can be as many as 4 different chains all pretending to be genuine Bitcoin), but in fact it would mean Bitcoin disintegration (with likely no way back). I don't know about you, I don't know about anyone else, but as to me, there is simply no chance that the prices of all these new Bitcoins combined could total to the price that we see today. When a company is ordered to split into a few independent ones (think Standard Oil here), that is not good for their stock (though they may grow into huge corporations later as it actually happened with the Standard Oil spin-offs such as ExxonMobil and Chevron)

deisik -- it is like you expect everything to basically collapse, while you, just like all others here, can only guess and 'voice' your opinion about what potentially might happen. In the same way that people expect everything to go down heavily, the market might as well head up. I have the feeling that you are trying to grab hold on various negative aspects just to make yourself feel better about your positions in Litecoin.

Apart from likely a few very well connected (say, to Jihan and Ver) individuals, and I'm certainly not one of them. If you ask me (which seems to be the case), I'm inclined to think that there is more than we are told or allowed to see. We see that the total majority of miners (including Jihan Wu's Antminer) are kinda signaling their support for SegWit2x. At the same time, Jihan promised to come up with his own Bitcoin. Could he and his puppets withdraw their vote at the last minute and actually fork Bitcoin the hard way? I think they can, and what's most scary in all this, they might be accumulating hashing power right now (and might have been doing so for many months already) to release the kraken when the right time comes and quickly bring the opposing chains down to their knees. This is just one of the many scenarios which I don't think of as completely impossible

Exactly, when you doubt then just buy bitcoin. And as you can see the price seems to be fair today for those buyers. It's happening most of the time that price gets stable at $2,480 and if you don't want to lose chance of earning good, then just buy today. Maybe tomorrow you'll earn $20-$50.

As a bitcoin miner i believe nobody wants a chainsplit, it is just bad for everybody.
Behind curtains there always will be politics. Now it is segwit, next year will be something else, but i have high confidence nobody wants to cut for meat the goose that lays golden eggs.

No, it's not just a short form of business. Bitcoin is flexible you can invest on it for long term and short term. It's up to you on how you are going to depend on your investment in bitcoin. To me, I can see it as both thing. It's a good way to invest for short term if you want to be a day trader.

Im not expert but i can give you some advice that can help you with that first it is not bad or good ti buy bitcoin this month but to make sure wait for august and see what really happens on that month second if you buy right now make sure that you can grow your money before august 1 and sell them all and then buy again and start earning some profit again.

Many people wondering about entry point as bitcoin may rise or drop back within a month, but it is hardly to say it will drop or rise as we still on uncertain news and debates whether segwit2x will works or not. If it is just another project to cause drama because in the end it doesn't works properly, better to stop it right now before cause further damage to bitcoin nodes. Bitcoin price seems recover and may stay on this level for a while. If you want to buy, do not spend all of your money, divide it into several times (3-4x) of purchase whenever dip happens.

If you sold at peak don't regret, if you sold at dip don't regret. But for me, just believe in bitcoin and keep yourself calm down. Stay away from seeing the charts so that you won't be forced to sell when you are seeing the price of bitcoin falling. Anyone who comes with their own "Bitcoin" becomes discreditd in my opinion, like that mining company that said they would mine their own Bitcoin (an AltCoin). Nobody will fall on this trap of people trying to create new Bitcoins to destabilize what was built until now (I hope so). Everyone creating alternative Bitcoins will become AltCoin creators letting very clear which one is the original version, Bitcoin's renegades have no future.  :D

i am agree with your said and its better to stay calm with any news we read. i think if we are not panic, we can handle our emotion when we see the chart is down and its better doing another activity while we waiting the next news about the segwit. but if we decide to sell our bitcoin, then we don't need to regret or sad if in next hour or next day the price is increase.

IMO, this is a perfect opportunity to sell your coins. If you want to purchase additional Bitcoins, then you can wait until the end of August, when things will be more clear.

I believe it it is time to diversify. I have always been looking for a buy and hold type of cryptocurrency but I have not found one yet. I wanted to invest in ETH but the fork discouraged me to do it. Then I started looking at ETC but that is the DAO hacker's way of cashing out his "earnings". LTC is another one I like but Jihan Wu has his fingers in it also. The final worthy choice I have is Monero, the development team is smart and I believe some of them is qualified to be Bitcoin Core developers. Small dark markets have started accepting XMR for payments which is good for utility. But the price is too high now.

I might end up holding Bitcoin until August 1. Please advice me.

In fact, you are farther from truth than you think

Since many people are involved in Bitcoin exclusively for profits (I don't mean it's bad, I'm just telling how things stand in reality), they don't particularly care which specific "brand" of Bitcoin allows them to earn profits. In this way, saying that nobody will fall in this trap is certainly not what is going to happen in real life provided Bitcoin does get forked, of course (which is not likely now when BIP148 seems to be close to failure). If this alternative Bitcoin shows decent profits, people will use it and no amount of determent or reproach will stop them

I believe it is economically not viable to fork bitcoin.
I remember in march hitbtc.com went ahead and featured BTU. I got my BTU, sold it faster than lightning to buy BTC (at irrelevant price, dumped it on the highest buy order). Now it is traded at 0.032 BTC / BTU, so it has a value of 3.2% of BTC and the daily volume is 1 BTC, basically downgraded to a p/d coin. You can still trade it and possibly make profit, but future = 0.

2000 dollars or less is a little bit of overkill don't you think ? Prices have been swinging south for a while and we need bitcoins prices to recover next. I believe all the prices below $2500 are highly seeming very good prices to enter as long as bitcoin prices are staying above $2100 levels. When $2100 will be breaking, you may get prices like $1800. Hence my recommendation to you if you have still have funds to buy bitcoins : buy one bitcoins now and wait for prices to get stable. If it will touch $2550 you may buy one more else you can buy around $1800.

But all these are for short term target of $2700 to $2800. If you planning for long term targets $5000 then you may buy now and wait.

But there are many factors at play as well as many players with different agendas, so it is not so much about being economically feasible or viable as about trade-offs between groups of influence. In other words, if there were strong support for UASF, miners (or rather, mining cartel) might have no other option but hard fork Bitcoin and create their own coin. It could well be that they specifically threatened the community with drastic consequences to draw more support for SegWit2x, which is not very good for them, either (from an economic point of view)

Both position for any scenario, whether it is a rally or a revaluation you want to be covered and have money in the exchange and ready for processing when the chaos is occurring if the split is non-negligible.
Otherwise this could just be a non-value change approaching unless this results in sentiment to buy more then it is a good time to invest.

Now i can advice you, if you want to sell your bitcoins than it is not a good time to sell it, wait till the August 1.
And then decide to sell it. Otherwise, hold it better for you, less than in the end of 2017.
However, now you want to buy bitcoin then i think it is a good time, because bitcoin is stop under $2400.

If I were asked for a suggestion, I will be directing the concern person to analyze the market and go on his own decision, because none is sure what is gonna happen within few weeks time as the segwit Aug 1st is getting close. If something good happens people feel relaxed and when something goes beyond expectation people feel bad of going with selling or buying on others decision.

We don't need to panic, there are some people that are just not good as others who are calm and chilling out with what's happening. I was one of those panic seller before but whenever I'm going to sell some of my bitcoins now there's no more regret and I won't blame myself for selling it at not that good price but I've got profit already.

Yeah your right batang bitcoin, we don't need to panic. Because declining of bitcoin price is only a marketing strategies, also I was not worries even segwit. In addition I believe that after segwit there's a lot of opportunity will be open for bitcoin.

I agree, most people are involved in Bitcoin exclusively for profits. But as they don't want to lose money they will be very cautious when they must choose a way to follow. The laymen will follow other's advices, but they will check very well first if that advice is good or not.

When someone wants to split the chain, it's already a negative point for that person (it seems somehow that person is greedy and wants to have more control over the currency, at least for laymen that is what it seems) and his opponents will use it at their favour.

You may be right, but I think it's harder to happen, the most probable to happen is to have the alternative Bitcoins dying or becoming low priced currencies... But I'm open mind person, I don't exclude any consequence.  :)

It's because of my observation on the market of bitcoin and other crypto currencies. It's not always going to fall but there are times that it needs to be sure of and make the circulation healthy. And that's why these type of decrease needs to happen, keep on holding and you'll see in the end that the most patient ones will earn from this.

If some random dudes does just that, no one apart from him alone will use this new "Bitcoin", obviously. On the other hand, if someone like Jihan Wu goes that route the result might be different. He might of course fail in honest competition but in war where all odds are off while all means are fair he might succeed even if not by attracting more users to his side directly but by making the original, genuine Bitcoin unattractive (e.g. by interfering with the transaction processing using his technological muscle). Though right now when SegWit2x is not going to make it this is unlikely

I am no expert but I believe it is time to buy since Bitcoin price is dipping.  I see the update as bullish so buying it while it is in downtrend is somehow a good move.  Well you can wait to see if it can go lower.    And definitely when the price is crashing, it is not wise to sell because bitcoin has the ability to rebound in price.  Why sell at a loss when you can wait and sell at a profit.

This  price is not "dip" buy anyway we cant find exact minimum price for downtrend on charts..What about making investments on other alternative cryptocurrencies like eth,dash,rad..etc ? I already sold my bitcoins and waiting for segwit event on 1 august. IMO prices will fall hard till november. Later we will see big pump and uptrend will continue till 3000 btc/usd rate ;)

I believe that the price can be drop but only small drop not a drop below $2k value or i think even below $1,800 value  this is just my own speculation
But expect that the price could be increase fast since many investors and traders are waiting for a cheap price even a little bit price drop..
I was wondering that bitcoin will no changes in value after august 1 and i think other bitcoin users will test bitcoin transaction and new segwit feature if it is really help a lot for bitcoin. Instead of price drop the price will increase more high.. so watch out if you sold your bitcoin right now because the other bitcoin users out there they are just want to encourage other people to sell their bitcoin just to buy a new cheap bitcoin..

Because the majority of the people here are pure gamblers that don't understand how this market works under various conditions, and they don't know why Bitcoin has value in the first place.

I have noticed that due to the hard fork speculations, certain people think the value can drop back all the way back to below the $100 mark, where some rookies even think Bitcoin might end up going back to zero.

It clearly shows the sort of people we are dealing with here. It's all blind greed that leads these rookies to nothing but losses. Seriously, these people shouldn't manage their own wealth.

And why does Bitcoin have value in the first place?

Somehow, I always thought that it is specifically because of these greedy types looking exclusively for profits that Bitcoin got to its current position when 1 coin is worth more than 2,000 dollars. In other words, all this value comes particularly from speculation (and essentially from nothing more). So if Bitcoin is hard-forked, there is plenty of reason to think that Bitcoin is going to lose this value since who is going to speculate with an asset if its value gets halved (that's what forking basically comes down to)? Ironically, it is possible to draw an analogy here between Bitcoin halving, when miners' reward is halved, and Bitcoin forking, when speculators' wealth gets halved. This could be construed as the revenge of the miners

To me I think this time is not perfect to sell their bitcoin because its price is now low and if those people sell their bitcoin now they gain loss, and more to me we will not to wait at the end of to August to buy bitcoin. So that time is very good to buy bitcoin and hold for long time because its price will goes to rise.

There is no low or high price on their own since it all depends upon where the price is going to trade next, up or down, to the south or to the north. Obviously, if the price is rising, any price today will be low tomorrow and vice versa. Right now it looks like prices are heading down, and that has been a overall tendency for the last month. Well, in fact, the price has been trading in a pretty tight range all this time but with speculative assets like Bitcoin if the price doesn't grow after some (rather short) period of consolidation, it typically goes down. And we are kinda well past that period of time which could be loosely considered as a consolidation phase

Price drop is not likely to happen during the month of August.The split can cause a lot of trouble for a lot of people,so i would suggest you to buy bitcoin now only if you have the guts to do so,because after August 1 nothing can be in your hands.So decide what would be the best for you financially after August 1.
