Simply put, the market for this type of coin is huge. There will be many networks required to handle the load, even we expect to see more arrive in the future.

What makes us different?

We are targeting the North American market, whereas Golem, Iex.ce and SONM are all in Europe. We don't consider Elastic to be a competitor. After watching their project and github, we believe they do not have the budget or developers to compete, but we wish them all the best!

Sorry, I am having trouble understanding your question, but I will try to answer.

The project is created and being run by a single company. Kings Distributed Systems owns and operates all the proprietary code etc.

There are other projects who we are interfacing with, such as BOINC, but they are not directly affiliated with us. We are however getting involved with their open source development, and have access to some individuals from BOINC who would like to support our growth. Although they are very interested in being in the cryptocurrency space, because they are american non-profits who get grants from government foundations they are restricted from doing so.

This is where we come in! They are happy to have us market their network using our own crypto coin.

While our Alpha will be interfacing with BOINC, we plan to launch our own peer-network as soon as possible, as this will allow us to begin marketing to commercial projects. The plan is to have our proprietary network released in Q1 2018.

All universities have access to supercomputers one way or another, some have them in house and some are contracted to non-profits.

Much of this funding comes from governments in one way or another.

These computers are very expensive and constantly need to be updated with new hardware, and we are looking to replace this process. As we grow we will be bidding for these government and university grants, so they may contract us to be their supercomputer supply.

As you may know demand exceeds supply! There is a constant line for these computers at universities, and this even after it has been carefully distributed. There are many researchers who would like to do a lot more, but simply cannot get access to the supercomputer time at their university.

If there is one thing all scientists have in common, it is that they want more computer power. Our distributed network is more cost-efficient then running hardware centers and that is where our advantage comes. We are the cheaper, and more powerful solution.

We are looking at both of these segments, picking up the central contracts themselves, and also the excess demand.

There are two important points here:
1/ The demand for computational capacity is growing such that there is a vast amount of room for many players. It is not a zero sum equation: golem winning does not mean sparc losing or vice versa.
2/ Sparc is harnessing the very latest web technology to allow for a far wider user base than any distributed network to date. Presently our in-house team of computational math programmers are building the world's first ever ECMAscript set of math libraries which will harness WebGL2.0 to marry the web interface with the low-level hardware. Other projects are harnessing different technology which, if developed properly, will no doubt have success as well.

We have delayed the ICO so that we can add people to the team and get the platform built out enough to provide a use for subscribers as you call them. Good question. Whereas Golem and Sonm are targeting the native realm using docker contianers and GO (language), we are targeting the web realm, using web-standard technologies and the node package manager. Whereas Golem and Sonm are building application layers, we are pushing for a protocol that pairs with the ip suite (https/tcp/ip). We plan to promote the specification as a general purpose dynamic compute protocol.

I've been using BOINC for the last 4 months and I'm excited to you guys working together.  I think this is a great and actually useful way of using processing power and electricity.

I keep getting a transaction out of gas for the presale address, and when I looked at the address all of its transactions were out of gas.

Any reason for this?

Tech update: SPARC completed preparations to run and test its first pilot project using its Distributed Compute Platform.
A computational astronomy project from a PhD student at Queen's University will serve to benchmark performance and relative cost.

Since Jan 1st 2018 SPARC have been very actively tweeting what they are doing.This is a great sign that they working hard to make SPARC a reality.I am glad i bought in early when i did and see only good things coming from them in 2018.

Indeed I would like to assure you that we are on a good trajectory to hold a successful ICO this summer (intentions for Aug). I would be happy to have a detail conversation with you. Essentially:
1. We have secured partnerships with major customers (MOU with Compute Canada and the Centre for Advanced Computing)
2. We have begun discussions with major compute suppliers (Major Canadian Telecom companies that we cannot announce publicly yet)
3. We have the backing of important investors from the states and are currently organizing a series A for April.
4. We are testing, validating and benchmarking our technology/compute platform with the Centre for Advanced Computing.
5. We are preparing to be listed on two major exchanges by the ICO this summer.
6. We've expanded our team to include new expert developers, a CFO and a COO.

What twitter?  The sparc coin twitter I am looking at was last active in 2017...  It also is listed as an inactive coin, has a terrible ICO score, and is still relatively silent here.

almost a year after the existence of your project there are only 10 pages of discussions? It is very strange, as I see it, at the beginning of the year the coin was worth about 13 dollars, what is happening now?

Stop smoking the drugs man.SPARC did an ICO last year but only raised less than $100k.Their token was about $0.02 each.Never was it any where near $13 per token.You must be confused.Later this year SPARC aims to hold another ICO.They have also received investments from elsewhere so will be in a better position during their next ICO.

SPARC are rebranding and now called DCP.The website has had an update and i have contacted the team to find out if my SPARC tokens are still valid.
At least they are moving inn the right direction now.
