simpleENS

simpleENS allows you to send ETH to friends and family using a human readable DNS-style name, such as john.eth.

Thousands of ETH has been lost using the Ethereum Foundation's ENS.

So simpleENS has decided to create a simpler and safer ENS.

No Auctions, no complicated procedure.

Simply check that a name is available and purchase it.

That's it.

simpleENS also allow you to register TLDs - such as, .vitalik, .mylastname etcetera.

Whereas, the Ethereum Foundation's ENS restricts TLDs to .eth and .test - which means you can never truly have the name you want.

Security

UPDATE: Users can now scan a QR-Code of their private key from a paper wallet, instead of entering a raw private key!
 
Transactions are signed client-side, then broadcasted to MyEtherWallet's node.

In fact, we even use their JavaScript file (feel free to check our source-code).

You can even sign transactions on simpleENS offline, then reconnect to broadcast the transaction to MEW's node.

Sending ETH on simpleENS could not be more secure.

However, we recommend you generate a separate account with a small amount of funds when using simpleENS, and keep large funds in an offline wallet.

We recommend you store your private key offline, and enter it manually into simpleENS, where we mask it in a password field.

Is this a real coin that will have an ico  ,there are lack of info's and with unorganized announcement post. A decent ico need to be well organized and have a good appearance not only its plans.

It's also safer than a wallet because private keys are not stored.

This project seems interesting and about to open this ICO.

You don't do a great job in your posting describing the current state of ENS. The de-facto "official" registrar is maintained by trusted Ethereum community members. Nick Johnson et al have released smart contract code making it easy for anyone to host their own registrars, but unless there is community support (from wallets, exchanges, etc.) to use those registrars to resolve the names then it's pointless.

It's akin to running DNS servers that host some TLDs that have no association with root servers.

It's fine and it's not bad, it's just a big stretch to believe that simpleENS will become the premier registrar. It can also be a bit dangerous since multiple registrars could conceivably register the same name and have collisions.

The distributed name exchange idea is a good one as well as the collateralized lending, and code for both of these have already been published and shared with the community on reddit and github. I haven't looked deep into simpleENS to determine originality.

In order for this to really gain momentum it would be great if you could outline your communications thus far and marketing plan with existing services in the Ethereum ecosystem. i.e. have you already gained any support from major exchanges and wallets? If not, I believe a 20k ETH is extremely premature and quite excessive. What will you do with monies raised if you do not hit a minimum target?

I want to search first for name before buying but i cant find where to click is the "search" feature not working?

I also got this from FAQ "No, TLDs are restricted to only .eth (on mainnet), or .eth and .test (on Ropsten), plus any special purpose TLDs such as those required to permit reverse lookups. There are no immediate plans to invite proposals for additional TLDs. In large part this is to reduce the risk of a namespace collision with the IANA DNS namespace."

How is it possible that you claim registration of tlds beyond .eth and .test is possible on your platform when the above faq says it is not possible?

It's way to early to consider an implementation of the ENS interface as official.

Secondly, we're the only ENS that allow the registrations of name except .eth and .test. So we're not even offering the same service.
Ours implementation is more extensive service.

Secondly, on my site simpleens.github.io users can already use their simpleENS names to send ETH to friends and family.

In fact, we would argue that using simpleENS is the easiest way to send ETH (requires the click of a single button).

So wallet integration is a non-issue.

We will build our own decentralized ETH exchanges (similar to etherDelta). Allowing the use of simpleENS names.

We should be able to convince larger exchanges to integrate simpleENS names, particularly for the use of names with TLDs other than .eth.

Since ENS only uses .eth names, there's no reason for Bitfinex not to implement simpleENS names with different TLDs (e.g. .smith) .

We have decided to retain ownership of the .eth TLD on simpleENS, if there is a collision problem we will negotiate a solution.

As far as we know we were the first ones to deploy a decentralized name exchange.

All of our code is original.



Support with exchanges didn't come automatically for ETH Foundation's ENS. It came with adoption of it's ENS.

Our core plan is to market the fact that we allow the registration of other TLDs than .eth and .test
Also that registering a name on simpleENS requires to interaction with complex auction contracts.
Check that a name is available then buy it.

Note that ETH Foundation's ENS is unfamiliar even in the general ETH community.

So we will prepare and launch a carefully considered, monitored and extensive online campaign, precisely targeting all potential ETH users.
This will unfortunately be expensive. From the raw data analysis to the ad properties we will have to purchase.

We've already built a functional DAPP. This was to show the community that we are committed and compentent.
But becoming the dominant ENS service will be costly. So it will require a large investment.

Our goal is for >50% of ETH users to be using simpleENS. Nothing less.

If we do not meet our target. We will still support and market simpleENS.

Our growth will however be slower, and the chance of failure is greater.

We have an opportunity to become the premier ENS provider now. This opportunity may not last.

Simple explanation:

Nick Johnson created a "template" code for name registrars. This template code would allow anyone to create their own registrar.

In one of the versions of that registrar  you cannot register additional TLDs.

However, in my version you can.

This is one of the main reasons for creating my own version.

Ok i didnt see the "Name Iinformation" before, i just searched and it worked now, but how do i search for new tld like .ethen .kiss .fry etc?

Ok great! But how do you address the problem of "namespace collision with the IANA DNS namespace." ?

Just type in "ethen", "kiss", "fry", then click search.

Then a page will appear with two sections: "Domain" and "Subdomains".

Under the Domain section, if 'For Sale' equals 'True', you can buy it.

All the TLDs you listed are available.


To see the price, open the 'Name Information' tab, enter nothing in the input box, just click 'search', then the price will appear under the 'Subdomains' section.

i just did and its becoming clearer now, the two last things i would like to be clear on are 1. what is the validity of bought names and subdomains? 2. by buying a new tld e.g .kiss, do i have the sole permission to allow purchase of domains like somebody wants zuckerberg.kiss do i own any right to allowing that registration or its free for all?

1.  By validity do you mean expiry? - For TLDs (e.g. ".kiss", ".ethereum" etc...) it's 1 year. For names, the owner of the TLD sets it. For example, if you purchase the ".kiss"
    TLD, you can set the expiry of  subdomains.

2. Yes. Every domain name with a ".kiss" TLD has to be bought from you. It is impossible for someone else to register that name without your permission.
     You decide if it's for sale. You decide the price and the expiry date.
