Hi Adykingcity, thanks for your comment.  Things were a little hectic yesterday since we just announced the project publicly for the first time.  I hope you'll understand. :)  We had a few investors reach out to us about seed funding, and we've been very close to bringing on board two new team members with valuable skills whom we've been talking with for a while.

All contracts will clear on the blockchain.  We are not affiliated with existing exchanges, and can even envision offering more contracts than they do in the future.

Are you settling these as OTC then? Are you mapping back to the legacy options with things like delivery points and contract sizes? Will pricing be tied to legacy options?

Lets say I want to buy a call on crude for Sept '17 @ 4750.0. CME has it at $2.80 (for example) - do you imagine your contract would trade at a different price than that?

Since these other exchanges have such a large portion of the liquidity on commodities options, does all your internal liquidity come from your quant desk?

Expiry prices will be set by oracles, which are tied to existing exchanges or other real-world data sources (at least in the short-medium term).  Most non- expiry trades will be free to execute at wherever price such that volume is maximized.  Ideally this would be at or near the midpoint of existing exchanges.  You can think of our platform as an alternate source for futures liquidity.

We will have an internal quant desk to help supply liquidity, yes, but envision third-party traders (more like arbitrageurs) assisting as well.  We will also solicit external parties to provide liquidity on our platform.  The latter part of this strategy can be a relationships game, so we will need experienced sales people to help in this.  We have a few in mind who are interested in joining after a successful token sale (they haven't joined yet).

A few members of our team have experience creating dark pools, and have been involved in creating some of the biggest in the world.  We've done this before, albeit in equities.  To that end, we are aiming to be transparent in execution.  We intend to having competitive spreads relative to CME (if we didn't, we wouldn't be able to host a ton of liquidity).

We really wanted to make this a free service too, but realized it would not be possible.

At a minimum, we would need transaction fees to record trades on the blockchain.  For any extra services, like offering leverage, we'd need to compensate lenders as well (as you would now to, say, a broker).

If fees are a given, we decided that the best way to ensure that these costs are manageable and competitive is to make them a market in and of themselves.  That's what we're looking to do: any service, such as offering leverage or maintain markets, should have low barriers to entry and low switching costs.  They should be as transparent as possible.  That's how you protect against monopoly pricing power.  That's how you keep fees low.  And that's the kind of platform we're building.

I like the project idea and i sincerely wish you a success but i am more afraid than been in doubt about the S&P stocks implementations because this requires a lot of funds and government regulations.

what legal backing are you putting in place to secure investors funds because US government can just wake up one morning and sue you % your team for one financial crime or the other.

Yes, our platform is ambitious and will be subject to regulatory concerns, both domestic (US) and abroad.  Our budgeting takes into account extensive legal costs, including in-house counsel from individuals well versed in the futures space.  We are not taking the regulatory environment lightly, but believe that there is a path forward fully compliant with all laws.

As to the security of funds, since we are building a decentralized system, we hold no funds ourselves.  Your funds will be locked up in smart contracts with predetermined liquidation conditions, and upon the termination of a trade, all proceeds are delivered directly back to originating wallets.

More importantly, in this way the system will actually be more secure than traditional brokerages since the accountability of funds can be tracked 100%.  All "customer accounts" are completely transparent.

We have a lot of market making experience on our team, with individuals having written both market making strategies and dark pools.

As part of our liquidity plan, we are building a liquidity provision team which will take the other side of imbalances.  If there are more buyers than sellers, for example, we will try to step in as a seller.  We will calibrate our models such that we maximize volume.

We will manage this risk through a combination of liquidation on live continuous exchanges (such as a NASDAQ or CME), holding risk until subsequent auctions, and hedging with other correlated instruments.

As I understand, China and the SEC have brought their problems to ICO, as EVERMARKET concerns futures. Probably need to use trusted persons or companies for trading on this platform.

Best ICO now - with using any wallet with escrow. Nobody can understand from where investor. After investor can choose trusted people for trading.

Update: We've been very busy.

Since our initial announcement we've been meeting with many interested pre-sale purchasers and potential investors, and refining our project based on their suggestions.  Please drop us an email if you'd like to chat as well.

We've been working through a few legal items, and as mentioned, will be pushing back our public sale to accommodate.  With a mission of democratizing global financial exchanges, our project is fairly complex on the legal and regulatory side, and we've decided to be extra cautious to better serve our platform and its participants in the long run.  We hope to announce public token sale dates and terms in the near future.

We now have a private demo which we've started to show potential purchasers and investors.  It can conduct auctions, incorporate collateral, and record trading on the Rinkeby Testnet (Ethereum).  There's still some work to do before we can open it for the general public, but if you'd like a private demo we can try to address personally if you send us an email.

As an update, we've brought on a few additional people onto our team:

Mark Pimentel, who is joining as Head of Trading, has 10+ years of algorithmic trading experience from giants like Citadel Investment Group and Knight Capital Group.  He is an expert in price prediction signals and market microstructure, and will be a pivotal part of our liquidity provision efforts.  Mark attended Carnegie Mellon with Jim & Craig; they've all known each other ~15 years.

Evan Rothmayer is an experienced developer and will be working on systems and infrastructure.  He worked previously with Craig and Eric at Microsoft and Amazon, and is a great asset for our team.

As far as I heard, ICO should be expected in March 2018 - or earlier? I would like to prepare investment resources - and therefore I want to understand the timing.

1. The bounty program looks poorly managed as there are so many unanswered questions and queries in the bounty thread.

Devs see several issues with the current futures marketplace, namely unfair pricing, aggressive HFT algos taking advantage of retail and institutions, and difficulty accessing different markets globally for international traders
Devs are trying to solve for those issues.  Also on EverMarkets, devs'll allow traders to use crypto as collateral, giving crypto traders a way to access traditional and crypto markets without leaving the crypto ecosystem.

ico hasn't begun as it is tentatively scheduled to be held anytime in Q2. Developers have own marketing plans all laid out and they have a lot of attention as seen from the high demand during our presale. You will see EverMarkets gain traction soon enough when they approach ICO

the private sale amount of 40k ETH is an estimate. hard cap has been adjusted to $35M. Developers will definitely provide more details closer to crowdsale.

has any of the code for EverMarkets been open sourced or made publicly available? In the FAQ page and AMA, you mentioned that was the intention, but the only thing in the EverMarkets github right now is a golang repo that was forked as-is from Terraform. Thanks!

I would like to ask if the team has any plan to tackle issues about congestion, as the platform is ethereum based, and given that the transaction must be on time, if a scenario of big fluctuations in price and congestion happens at the same time, wouldn't this harm the margin provider a lot?

First of all, I personally read the whitepaper of Evermarket, watched almost all interview- (videos) of your company / CEO Jim and read some articles. Having checked on your team members I believe you will execute your vision and offer real value for the crypto space by bridging it with derivatives (future trading) as a first-mover. However, when EMX is listed and available for everyone to buy, you cannot decide who is allowed to buy in and in what amount since it will be open for the whole public. As a consequent, there will always be mixed kind of personalities in the community. So it will be on your head to stop “fud” (if it happens). And the best way to stop fud and have a good community is to have an amazing and useful product. If your product is really good, even if dump happens, most people will still support you and your company will steadily rise in value. But if your product does not exceed or meet the expectation, the community will turn bad and as a consequent you will lose the support. So, I think your finished product is the deciding factor to have a supportive and good community.

As developers said, they are in the middle of a re-brand and re-design of the website right now. Once that launches, they will press go on the full marketing blitz.

Developer's plan was to close the sale in June and generate in July. They have discussions planned with supporters next week and will release the timeline in next week’s update.

Developers work on the exchange continues in California. They are finalizing pieces of registration and onboarding experience and KYC/AML process.

What kind of risks can you hedge trading crypto derivatives? E.g. trading futures in USD you evaluate the US economy, the Fed policies, etc. but with futures in ETH what do you have to incorporate in your trading decisions?

One can hedge their entire crypto portfolio or just specific tokens in that book. People trade spot crypto with same evaluations. With derivatives, one can profit from falling crypto prices as well as rising prices

The problem is that either it is implemented as a 2 tier system where market orders always have priority and can manipulate the final batch price or we can't guarantee execution... So, I'm curious to find out how EMX plans to address this problem.

Market orders do affect the auction price. Evermerket choose the volume-maximizing price (using the last price in case of a tie), and market orders can affect what price this would be.

I can only advise everybody to stay away from this exchange.
They had a perpetual oil contract, which was poorly designed (intransparent and not following the real market).
All of a sudden they just halted the trading of this perpetual contract and are offering all customers that were long a settlement at 0.56 USD (while oil is trading at 14 USD).
Paying more than that would bankrupt the company, their CEO said, as they did many mistrades and their company accounts got liquidated at CME.
Stay away, chances you will never get your money back are high.
