Title: [Bounty in BTC] Elacoin windows -qt binary ( Need donators aswell )
Post by: wesjuhnl on May 14, 2013, 04:24:05 PM
Looking for someone that can compile the elacoin-qt into windows binary.

Also looking for people that are willing to donate .btc for the elacoin windows binary.

Ill start and add .1btc

If you want to help out and reach a higher.btc bounty so most likely more people will try and compile one.

Developer will get the btc amount rewarded when elacoin-qt for windows is online and working.

Basicly the idea is people who like elacoin can invest in .btc to make a higher bounty so windows users can have there wallets aswell and also the value of elacoin will go up.

You can send you .btc to the following address: 1BxeYiGGk64tCsotMwVhepVcAfoRRsR81k ( Also post that you have donated and how much in reply )

I will keep the total .btc reward updated !

Donators BTC:

1. Wesjuhnl 0.1BTC

Btc reward contains : 0.1BTC

Yes, but I refuse to support this garbage this time around. The developer has proven himself to be extraordinarily inept, and I refuse to help him in any way, shape, or form.

I encourage you to ditch elacoin and try out feathercoin2. Unlike elacoin, feathercoin2 has windows support!

O, and I included a shortcut with an addnode I used on Linux this morning.. Since the IRC is crappy and the dns entries seem to be invalid, I'd suggest you add some more nodes. You can find them all around the Elacoin topics...

And for the BBQ lovers: bUJC6MYEN8ZkwtA94wqPh9ztcJ4S1SQY5V
The ElaCoin Lovers: Ed6sLPZcMzchQQEdPrHsLzhrEapozeyYJB

Hmm, a new release will follow.. Apparently someone though it funny to add invalid checkpoints to the checkpoints.cpp file:
https://github.com/elacoin/elacoin/commit/992bdc98758006bd597135df66c8c4b7b752109b (https://github.com/elacoin/elacoin/commit/992bdc98758006bd597135df66c8c4b7b752109b)

Which causes the client to error:
Code:
received block 8ce0c019811c95fd8b4c
ERROR: CheckProofOfWork() : nBits below minimum work
ERROR: CheckBlock() : proof of work failed
ERROR: ProcessBlock() : CheckBlock FAILED

Edit2: Wasn't the checkpoint.. Was the starting difficulty:
https://github.com/elacoin/elacoin/commit/0d3db7e9da6b12801439d24e32250c0243021b18 (https://github.com/elacoin/elacoin/commit/0d3db7e9da6b12801439d24e32250c0243021b18)

Genesis block was mined with diff 0 so the client won't accept it with diff >>20 :p

Title: Re: [Bounty in BTC] Elacoin windows -qt binary ( Need donators aswell )
Post by: tyrion70 on May 14, 2013, 06:20:00 PM
Okay,

I got some unexplainable errors: nBits below minimum work

Code:
received block e26ac9261be80ee62b00
bnProofOfWorkLimit: 504365055
ERROR: CheckProofOfWork() : nBits below minimum work
ERROR: CheckBlock() : proof of work failed
ERROR: ProcessBlock() : CheckBlock FAILED

I tried to see what exactly the value of nBits was at the time using

Code:
      printf("bnTarget: %u \n", nBits);

But alas, it won't give any output.. So... What I did, quick and dirty is:

Code:
    // Check range
    if (bnTarget <= 0 || bnTarget > bnProofOfWorkLimit)
      printf("bnTarget: %u \n", nBits);
      printf("bnProofOfWorkLimit: %u \n", bnProofOfWorkLimit.GetCompact());
      // return error("CheckProofOfWork() : nBits below minimum work");

I removed the error ;-)

Consequence is that your clients when used for mining might think it mined a valid block but actually didn't. The network will correct that I think. Maybe a more experienced dev can tell why this error occurs in the first place. I personally think it has something to do with the fact that the difficulty was changed from >>100000000 to >20 after mining the genesis block.

Let me know if it works there!

OK, it hangs after dl-ing a few blocks, but when u restart it if happily resumes..

btw, use the conf file i added in the rar, it contains some working nodes..

Can you tell me what version of mingw, qt, and deps you used?
I was trying to build it, but have some errors with the boost lib.

Thanks tyrion!

Can you tell me what version of mingw, qt, and deps you used?
I was trying to build it, but have some errors with the boost lib.

Sure, I first followed the guide on:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=149479.0 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=149479.0)

I used all the mentioned downloads there plus miniupnpc-1.8.

Then the fun part begins because the quide itself is not enough unfortunately..

You have to change the net.cpp file because it loads the upnp lib with a prefix (which is fine for Linux but not on Windows)
Code:
#ifdef USE_UPNP
#ifdef WIN32
#include <miniwget.h>
#include <miniupnpc.h>
#include <upnpcommands.h>
#include <upnperrors.h>
#else
#include <miniupnpc/miniwget.h>
#include <miniupnpc/miniupnpc.h>
#include <miniupnpc/upnpcommands.h>
#include <miniupnpc/upnperrors.h>
#endif
#endif

Also you have to make some changes to elacoin-qt.pro and src/makefile.mingw. Some libraries are needed in a different order and you need to add the
Code:
-D__NO_SYSTEM_INCLUDES
option to prevent mingw to use the wrong dependencies

I've uploaded changed files here:
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B0f2VDPOrXt4V05WRFRDejlDYzQ/edit?usp=sharing (https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B0f2VDPOrXt4V05WRFRDejlDYzQ/edit?usp=sharing)

Hmmm.. That sounds like a checkpoint issue.. 2499 blocks left? or 2499 loaded?

was your appdata/elacoin dir empty when u started? Wesjuh had a similar issue but that solved it for him

Elacoin dev inserted checkpoints to overwrite the actual blockchain with one that he created in private.

This is old news people.

There is a file in the .rar called elacoin.conf copy this to your AppData\Roaming\Elacoin and it should connect.

Nodes are in the elacoin.conf

Any chance you could elaborate on the exact changes you made to elacoin-qt.pro or perhaps provide the file so I can compare it line by line to the original version? I've been trying without success to compile the QT wallet and have had no luck yet the daemon compiles fine. It's very frustrating. :D

I have no reason to doubt the legitimacy but I'd like to be able to successfully compile the QT wallet for myself for all future coins rather than relying on someone else's binaries.

this makes alot of sense if you read the source, or at least diff it against a known good set, before you compile it.

we're creating a step by step guide for it too
