Hello, guys. I registered for my account yesterday and made 5 posts. I then waited 4 hours, and nothing showed up. I decided to let it sit overnight, and still nothing showed up. What's going on? I have my 5 posts and 4 hours. Why can't I post on any other board?  >:(

If you leave a window open your username will time out. You have to actively browse/post on the forums for four hours, not just be logged in.

Yeah, you have a total online time of 37 minutes at the moment.

They should just give people the option to pay 0.001 btc to skip by all that posting in the n00b forum for 4 hours nonsense :)

At the top of the forum, (beneath where it says "Watchlist") you should see your total time logged.

how many posts do you have to have to get out of newbie status?

Hmm i have 7 hours logged in time and 5 posts but seem to still be a noob...lol

Yea, that would be nice.  The post requirement is like being forced to make small talk.  I hate doing it in RL, why would I want to do it in a forum?

Running into the exact same thing at the moment. In RL I'm kinda straight to the point  :)

It could be worse. Some forums require you to have 100 posts before you can even sell anything.

Seriously, if someone has a technical issue with bitcoin they shouldn't be forced to post that issue on newbie forum because no one will reply here.

I think it times out after two minutes. So just make sure to refresh the page every two minutes to get the timer up.

Wow, I understand the need to protect against spam and general silliness, but this restriction is rather annoying. Typically you sign up because you want to make an instant contribution to something specific. Instead you have to wander over here, post some gibberish to get the post count up, fake continuous activity for an arbitrary period, and *then* contribute to the thread that originally caught your interest. Convoluted isn't the word.

Or you could just post what you want to contribute right here in the Newbie Sub-Forum.  That would be so much more productive, wouldn't it?

The newbie status should only restrict the user from trading.

That's a great idea. Rather than posting on *specific* threads, people should just all post randomly in the newbie forum. Everyone should do it! -_-

Who said anything about "randomly"?  Everybody who is a Newbie absolutely should create a new thread if they have a comment to make or a question to ask and there isn't already a Newbie thread discussing that topic.  That would be FAR better than all this Newbie Spam.  And if they really want to say something in a non-Newbie thread, they can create a new thread here in the Newbie forum saying what they want said and asking for it to be re-posted for them.  If it isn't silly drivel, they'll probably find that a helpful member will quote their post for them in the thread they are interested in participating in.  If it is silly drivel, then the Newbie restrictions are working well to keep it out of the more useful thread.
