Apparently Bitcoin has again broke the record by reaching reaching 3.2K (almost 3.3K currently it's 3,280$ on Bitfinex)

It's possible that this is not going to last If it got triggered by the BCH dump and If that's actually the case, BCH will reach a low price that will make people buy it again, and you will see once again, a price decrease but probably nothing significant.

I don't see any reason why bitcoin will not go up after what happened on the recent Event which is the split. Anyway, for me there really is no split that happened rather there has been an airdrop of another coin which is BCC that varies depending on how many BTC you currently have.
I'm expecting for bitcoin's price to go all the way up to 5000 $ before the year end or maybe even more.

Maybe, this could be one of the reasons but on the other hand now when the situation after August 1st is settled bitcoin has shown agin the status and strenght, users returned confidence and market has responded positive so why the price couldn't  go up even more. We'll find out soon.

To think that a just a few weeks ago before the split, the price went as low as $1,800 only to recover and bounce back to achieve this new all time high. Almost a 100% turnaround in a very short period of time. Would $5,000 really be a possibility before the year ends? If anything, the split might have just been the best thing to happen to bitcoin, or one of the things that had to happen to make the price move up further.

If it hopefully reaches 5k by the end of the year, oh my..., the news will be all over the place and people will become more aware about bitcoin by that time  :D   Let's see how far we can go this year

yes, I am also excited about it. The market cap of bitcoin has increased to 53 billion USD and that is just awesome! A lot of people has invested in bitcoin since last few days after the network split and hence the price is increasing. I believe, bitcoin will set a new record this time.

What if they do and a week later it goes to $4000? There were predictions of $4000 by the end of the year and judging by the market reaction we might get it next month, when segwit finally goes live. I'm holding and waiting for that $4000 since I've got burned a number of times trying to short while it was going up. One week it rose by $500, I've decided it should be over soon, the next day it was up by another $200  ;D

Lots of people was waiting for August 1, see what will happen and then buy Bitcoin. Now those people want to buy Bitcoin.
Some others wanted to buy bitcoin at low price after August 1. Now they see the increase in price. Now they are regretful as they didn't buy earlier and they buy bitcoin now to not be more regretful in future.

$5,000 seems to be really far away still, but it may happen or not, the chances looks like it will. Though the problem is that prices has already tripled since the start of the year and that is a problem since it could just be a bubble and when the whales all sell and panics then the prices will likely plummet. We just need another mt.gox incident and see it all fall down.

I never would've thought Bitcoins could reach such a high price. That even made me come back to Bitcointalk after more than a year of inactivity. Though I'm realy pissed off that I don't own any bitcoins.

Many people think that before at the end of this year bitcoin will reach $5000. I heard this speculation many times. I believe the price of bitcoin will increase fast and we are going to see many all time high in this year and for the next year, I believe this situation will continue. 3.2k is just a beginning of new rally i think. This is great so another goal has been achieved by all of us. We had to wait for another ATH probably we will be reaching $4,000 very soon. And once we are able to make then we are now be reaching next $5,000 and so on. Just keep on hodling people if you don't want to feel sorry about your bitcoins to be sold at dip.

Not a strange thing if the price reaches 3.2k! I once sold for a higher price than this. And I think in the coming months bitcoin will cost 4-5k $ I really hope for it. I i can hold some leftovers for storage and will be sold later

It is just an interim step in my opinion. Imagine if Bitcoin would overcome all its (potential) problems like scaling then it would skyrock. The steps conducted on 1st August should only be the beginning. In the long run we will probably see some more such events to tweak Bitcoin for mass usage and mainstream adoption.

All the doubts that was currently circulating due to the announce of hard fork was all proven wrong that during and a few weeks after the fork btc price will fall down and once again bitcoin dominates our doubts and showing its worth lets get it on

Theprice of bitcoin as of now is very high and it will continue to increase more in the future. Not that much of a surprise to me, of bitcoin didn't drop with the bitcoin cash fork, I expected it to take a trip to the moon. It was stable for a few hours and it was only a matter of time until I knew it would rise, looks like I predicated correctly. This is a positive step, bitcoin prices have started to increase since 1 August. Whereas previously many predicted that bitcoin prices will decrease quite drastically. Yes the market is unpredictable, now many people are taking advantage of this incident, especially the traders who have embroidered bitcoin at a cheap price. Bitcoin has set a new all-time high at $3350. Pretty impressive, saw it climbing from $2900 up to $3150 in the morning.

This could actually be a positive outcome for bitcoins after the august 1 incident. It shows that instead of going down in price value it goes the other way around proving that bitcoins is still gaining support and getting stronger.  I had faith that bitcoins can overcome these obstacles.

I didn't notice that the price was reach at $3250 we was lucky that the price was increase what we are expecting and hoping that the price can be increase more soon..

I consider it's normal due to bitcoin market has growing even bigger after bcash launched, it seems many people have cashed out from free bch and invest in bitcoin. Bitcoin will continue to rise I think, due to segwit will be activated which is expected to become scale solution.
If it works and could afford so many transactions every second, reduce transaction fees and accelerate every transaction, then we may see bitcoin keep on rally and unstoppable.

No coin of higher value, it is the highest value coins in recent years. It became so popular, the popularity created a very strong bitcoin.

The price has just began to break its ATH records. Now, it is going to non-stop to the moon. There are no more FUDs. There are no more August 1. So there is no other reason for a serious dip on the way.

Actually it's $3300, I think the cause of the price exploding to $3300 all time high is the BCC dump. This just shows that the community doesn't like the split and BCH/BCC is just another altcoin the price dramatically decreases by the passing days and instantly fluctuate's when it's blockchain network stabilize the only thing that preventing BCH price to crash. I think people doesn't have any interest in buying a slow and unstable network it will reach it's all time high in a few days or weeks and will become another shitcoin or scamcoin. All hail bitcoin.

Yes, this is the outcome of the Aug 1 which is contrary to most people here who thought that bitcoin will go down after the split. People are still cashing out BCC and buy bitcoins again or any other alts because I'm seeing that alts is also going green. Bitcoin is really resilient with this kind of things and bouncing back even stronger like what we are seeing right now.

Yup I agree, only a small percentage are really putting investment on Bitcoin Cash. I think the price movement is due to those large bagholders of bitcoin who are just coming out and claiming there Bitcoin Cash and quickly dumping it to go back to bitcoin ecosystem.

Yeah, I'd say so.  It always makes me nervous when we get something like 15% growth in a single day,  though.   It's fun, because I actually own some bitcoin now, but I worry that this isn't sustainable.   If this happened in the stock market,  I'd have laid a brick in my pants.  But this is crypto, where when I wake up tomorrow,  we might be back at $1500.  And then I'd regret not selling and it'd be a big emotional scene.  Don't think that can't happen,  either,  because it certainly could.

Well,i would say that this price rise is already late due to fear of hard fork and some expected that bitcoin price may crash.But bitcoin has outperformed such predictions and BCC has started to fall in price.Bitcoin would soon cross $5000 once gain proving that its the king of crypto currencies revolutionizing the world economy.

It's no surprise that Bitcoin have soared well beyond the $3000 price level soon after August 1st, actually  it has been long coming and since a worst case scenario in the scaling tussle was apparently averted , we would likely be seeing the breaking and making of new ATHs going forward. Those that were smart enough to buy and buy when price breached the $2000 price level must be singing all day now for wise investment decision.

Ya I was bit disappointed when it did not clinch the 3k mark on Aug 1st as the support had been locked in, and bcc was always going to be a joke. So I knew it would go up and am very happy that it's finally gone up its about time that it goes. There are talks of it shooting further up for Aug 8 event, as I had written in the earlier thread possible that's it has discounted the factor, but then again it's possible it may rise further who knows all I want this party to continue, never stop.

Weak hands fold and now they are regretting their decision. They see the price goes down to $1800 sold some. But now look at the price, its almost doubled if you have sold it at $1800. Its really hard to predict the price movement, but if you just used your common used and try to be patience at least wait for the fork to happened before making your move. Yes, bitcoin reached 3200$ and I think that it would increase again maybe in the next month. I was hoping that all coins would increase its value so that I could earn a lot of profit. I would convert all my coins if all value goes up. Everyone was waiting on its price and monitored it so that they could also exchange their coins.

Definitely. When Segwit gets locked in on 9th August or so i would expect that price will only continue soaring. This is definitely not the ATH for this year, in my opinion. Currently though it is just under $3200, meaning that price is stabilizing and not climbing crazily like yesterday anymore.

It is probably just taking a breather at the moment, and it's going to go up in another bull wave very soon. I think that people are anticipating the outcome of locking in Segwit to be positive, that's why the price has gone up so much.

When I read articles about bitcoin price predictions for this year they said that price will grow up to 3000$ till the end of the year. We are in August and price is already higher than three thousand. lt looks like we could easily reach 4000$ at the end of the year and I feel happy because of my bitcoin savings.

Yes, I guess those money was the coin of those who believe of the split of bitcoin where in the price will be divided too, so now they come back and invest again. This is so good actually bitcoin value is soaring high again we hope that this will last for long. Really i am happy to see bitcoin now on its all time high price and i wish bitcoin now never fall below 3000$ and grow even higher.

I'm expecting bitcoin will rise up in $5000 this year, bitcoin is very strong even in august 1 that I thought bitcoin will huge dump but no It's continuously rising up.

Not to spell doom and gloom, but there was plenty of hype before the last halving (in July, 2016) as well, and the price had been continuously rising for more than half a year. It started at a little over 200 dollars in September, 2015, and went all the way up to almost 800 dollars in June, 2016, just a few weeks before the halving. And then it crashed almost 200 dollars within a few days. There seems to be a tendency for the price to be rising for some time before events which are generally considered to be positive for Bitcoin and then crash just before these events actually happen

Yes you are right.It crossed 3300 $ now.Many had said It price will reach 50$.But now it's 3300$ and above.So you should think how much strong bitcoin is .Bitcoin is the king of all altcoin. Now no other altcoin will replace the bitcoin. Only the price itself say the truth about bitcoin.

This is the moment that most people here are waiting and finally became real ;D and for sure they are now waiting for it to pass on a much higher price, nothing's impossible because there are many speculations before that bitcoin will reach a certain value when it wasn't that much expensive and now seeing how much the price has become .

Ya I am also one among them.Why because I had inversed half of my property in bitcoin only.If the bitcoin was exit in August 1 means.I had loss half of my property. My luck it was not happened so.I was happy to see the price is crossed 3351$ so.

For newbies (your rank) they pay 0.000045 BTC per post and allow you to make a maximum of 40 paid posts a week. So if you make 40 constructive posts you will be paid 0.0018 per week in Bitcoin.

Now the price of bitcoin is 3353$.Many said reaching 3000$ is a peak .It will be reached at the end of the year.Now it's crossed 100$ + then the expected one.I.e 3200$.We are hoping for bitcoin to reach 5000$.If this achieved means,the profit will be high

One thing has become clear to me since I first saw btc December 2013;
Not once was selling btc a good idea for me, not a single time - ever. Of course, I don't have mad skillz trading. Here we are 8 years onto this thing and the same thing can be said - it will always go higher than where you sold.
So, all I can conclude is hold what you have and buy when you can and leave the selling to the traders who know what they are doing. Hint - not too many know what they are doing.

Holy crapsteaks!!  I woke up this morning to find bitcoin at $3380 or something crazy like
that, definitely at its all time high.   To those users who say we can't reach $5000 by the end of the
year, I respectfully beg to differ.  At this rate we'll be there in like 2 months.

I haven't really checked the whole market,   but some altcoins are doing well too.  Should probably
buy some of the better ones.  Anyhow,  nice to see bitcoin ripping up the roadway!

Profit from holding bitcoin is already high, it all depends on when you joined the hype train. All price expectation is based on pure speculation.
We have nothing like a certain price bitcoin needs to reach in x amount of time. We all are hoping for growth and we have it.
Don't wait forever for BTC to gain more and more value - if you think profit is good enough for you, sell some BTC.

We all know that it is driven by pure speculation. So if we think that bitcoin will still rise then no need to sell it today. Segwit is just a few days around and the hype around it says that the price could go higher. So for me, I still wait and hold for more time before making a decision to dump it. I have a goal of holding my bitcoin, so I will not sell it even if the price goes $4000-$5000, unless there is some emergency on my end. Will hold it till I realized my goal of 1 full BTC in my wallet.

Well the price keeps on moving forward without larger fluctuation. I expect the same to continue and in between if price falls suddenly more users will get panic and tend to sell their bitcoin causing a fall in price for certain time period. In reality it's all about the real growth happening with fluctuations. So even after that price increase high.

Some have tried to make panic (again) about today, August 8, but without success obviously. I think that by now bitcoin users, or at least those with some experinece, have learned to use their brain and the facts that have learned so far so they don't fall under influence so easily. At least I hope it's so. Anyway, the price is looking great now, over 3400$ and it looks like this is not the end.

in my predition it will reach $ 4000 or more before September.but when it come to near November it will come down again . because of the hard fork 

Of course, bitcoin prices will continue to increase with passed the time, as we can see together the price today has reached $ 3447 on Bitfinex. This show to us, in three days bitcoin rise $ 200, and continued to break the previous price record. I can not wait for the surprise that bitcoin will give to all of us.

I think those panic people was just been having regrets as of the moments and that price of over $3400 really proved that the reality speaks all about. Although it's a challenging part of the year particularly at the month of July this year, the price was so unpredictable due to such rumors and speculators who were spreading negative thoughts about bitcoin splitting. Gladly I myself doesn't lose hope and remained firm on my stand on bitcoin to gain that price, then it really happened; and no wonder price of $4000 this year can be achieve if demand will rise same as what happened lately.

What exactly happens on August 8th?
Segwit will lock in at abot 21st from all I know.
The only thing I have heared abou the 8th is that BCC might be greenlighted for trading.

Nothing will happen today. BIP141 will lock in roughly in 24 hours from now. After that, there will be another period of 2016 blocks (14 days) required, where if things don't change, Segwit will finally activate. It may be seen as a milestone, but we shouldn't forget that we have another event upcoming, and that's the 2MB hardfork that is part of Segwit2x. This hard fork is supposed to take place in November. Before everyone is going to celebrate, people should understand that remaining conservative is recommended in situations like these.

Bitcoin prices have reached more than 3,700USD. This is a very unexpected thing. Whereas previously many people are unsure of the bitcoin price movement. I'm sure maybe a few more days the price of bitcoin can reach 4,000USD, I'm like I'm dreaming but this is an exciting fact. I will try to buy some bitcoin and hope there will be a significant increase in the future. This is a very profitable investment to be done by everyone.

I think now the price of Bitcoin is the highest in this year, it is worth celebrating to gain considerable income, I believe that next year will reach $ 5,000.

Where do you see above $3700? The ATH according to Bitstamp was $3490.

A ~$1000 rise is more plausible IMO.

Of course, if you do the analysis of the past year, then the related practical five times, enough weighty arguments. But what to expect in the future, after the split of Bitcoin, it still remains for us to see. Although we must understand that to date the price has already beat another record and Bitcoin has risen to $ 3,500.

This is a history of bitcoin that we have reached this price and talking about the surges nothing will really stops bitcoin to be more promising and rising like the fame of all stars. That's possible that price of $5k is to be meet just like what happened from the past two months, so you better be prepared for another surprices.

At least the $5000 mark isn't completely unrealistic like most of the other $10,000 and $100,000 predictions are ~ that's what I really consider to be nonsense.

If we take current levels into consideration, a $1000 gain is just an increase of 30%, and that's not really spectacular. If we look at the market from that point, then the $5000 mark fits in the same category.

Regardless of what we think will or might happen, if there are enough market movers pushing the price forwards, and on top of that people panic buying, then we will touch new all time highs in a very short time.

High price mean a lot for those people who looking for profit as their investment.
But for me an adpostion more important more than anything , i want to see people treat bitcoin not just a profitable investment, but also a real currency to use in daily life.

The days of treating bitcoin as a currency has already gone.No one would be willing to spend such valuable bitcoin for buying any thing which could be even bought with fiat currency.It has already been treated as a valuable investment.After hard fork,bitcoin price is increasing high.It is expected to continue in bullish trend.So,we could expect some more peaks soon.

It seems like that we are experiencing some major resistance at the $3400 level.

Price has been here for like 2 days now and unfortunately has not broken that level yet.

I would expect the price to go up further though after segwit is actually activated on the bitcoin network. RIght now it is locked in, but there is a mandatory waiting period before Segwit can actually get activated.

When it does get activated, really i think that $4000 is definitely achievable. If it goes above $4000 it'll probably stay there for the rest of the year.

Yeah no one will prefer to waste their valuable coins on shopping and instead they will save it for future as price is expected to rise in future too so holding till that time is the best thing to do and most of the users are treating bitcoin only as an investment and not as a currency.

As to me, this is debatable

I basically agree that spending precious bitcoins on trivial things would be an outright waste of coins, even if you don't have to pay hefty premiums typically paid for such purchases (though there are quite a few dudes sticking around and willing to spend bitcoins just because they can). On the other hand, paying for expensive items like luxury cars, mansions, and similar shit is quite worth the deal. In such cases, the premiums aren't going to be high. In fact, you may even get a discount for paying with Bitcoin

I think bitcoin is going to reach 3500 before it stops there for a few moments, everyone is going to try to take their profits at that moment and then we are going to see some decrease in price for some time but not for long, since people seems to be very excited about bitcoin and segwit.

For me still depending the volatilty of Bitcoin in this time, because if have panic take profit in this time will make the price of Bitcoin have flash crash on market. Maybe make speculator scared and dump Bitcoin to under $3000 is possible.

Make no mistake about it, the reversal in price of Bitcoin and subsequent climb to a new ATH, presently Bitcoin is going for $3544.88 and all that due to the signaling of segwit, which apparently is a common  ground for all parties. However it would be foolhardy to reach the conclusion that the storm is over, because it really is not. We're going to have to come before yet another faceoff because the 1MB and 2MB blocksize deadlock is still staring us in the face.

As stated make the profit right now as the price seems higher creating a new ath. By the time to come there might be several other incidents taking place and the same could lead to price pumping or to price drop. Everything is purely on the adoption and the market changes from investment flow from whales. Hope the increase continues for a longer time period.

Now on some stock exchanges the price of bitcoin approaches to 3600 dollars. Many are already waiting for the worst fall. Some want to buy even more coins when there is a price collapse.

I think that bitcoin will continue growing in the next days, right now it is at $3,6k each one, and it was $2,8k exactly one week ago, so i can say that bitcoin can reach $5k at the end of the year for sure.

Also the strongest altcoins growed like a 30% last week

Currently over 3.5K... these are good times for bitcoin holders which goes to show bitcoin is still in high demand and I expect to see bitcoin price to keep growing has it becomes legal in other parts of the world which will lead to increased adoption and might cause a slowing down of volatility

This is another success for us bitcoin believers. The rise is just starting and I will not be shocked if it reach $4000 or more than that by the end of the year. This is definitely the year of bitcoin.

5000$ this year and 25k$ in 2 years. 500k$ in 5-7 years. It is happening. Price is still cheap. Only %5 of the world population is aware of bitcoin's existence.

I also think so too, but it certainly won't be like in a straight line graph, there is sure to be downturns and that would mean some more opportunities to buy cheap again and fasten the seat belts for another climb up and even higher for those who could discern what the bigger picture holds.

Like always bitcoin defies my expectations, now bitcoin is trading at an higher level than I imagined buy you are right the next round of the scaling wars is coming in November I do not know if the miners are going to really go through it but they seem like they want to do it.

What I fear is that bitcoin prices go up, most coin ALT prices drop drastically, and I rarely store bitcoins, I like to keep ALT coins, but I hope this is no longer the effect of altcoin

Bitcoin dominance is going up and that means that the price of altcoins is going down, to be honest you should have moved more money to bitcoin before all this happened I think the only option you have at the moment is to keep holding and endure the storm.

Bitcoin is getting higher it almost approach $4500 it continue pumping and I am hoping that it would reach $5000. It's been a good year for bitcoin and a good year for those who invest in the beginning of 2017. They maybe enjoying their harvest.
