Title: [ANN][ESCROW] DudeAmI's automated escrow/exchange, support for 27 coins!
Post by: dudeami on May 19, 2013, 08:01:52 PM
Hello all, I am here to announce DudeAmI's Altcoin Escrow!

Fee: 0.1% for each party during beta

Website: https://escrow.dudeami.com/ (https://escrow.dudeami.com/)
Public Trades/Exchange: https://escrow.dudeami.com/exchange/list (https://escrow.dudeami.com/exchange/list)

Whats this for?
This is for when you want to Buy/Sell cryptocoins for other cryptocoins, but adds a trusted middleman. Say you setup a trade with John, 100 LTC for 2.5 BTC. Normally, you'd just send the litecoins and hope that maybe some day you will see the bitcoins in return.

So whats beta mean?
Beta means stuff may go wrong (and assuming Murphy's Law, will), so be patient and prepared to email me if things do go wrong (Look at OMG OMG I HAVE A PROBLEM below). I have tested this code quite extensively so I believe it will work.

So how does your escrow work?
Now lets say you have the same trade with John. Instead, you go to the escrow and setup a new trade, enter 100 LTC for 2.5 BTC, enter your BTC address and LTC return address (in case things don't go as planned), and create the trade. The site will give you a URL to send to John, where he enters his LTC address and BTC return address and accepts. Now the site will update with addresses where you deposit your coins. Once both deposits are made and confirmed, the amounts get sent (BTC to you, LTC to John), the trade is complete, and both sides are happy!

At any time before John accepts, either party may cancel the trade by clicking decline.

Any fees?
For the beta, 0.1% fee on all transactions. After the beta, I have determined a fee of 0.5% would be acceptable.

Sounds good and all, but how can I trust you?
I won't deny I am new to these forums (very new), and I have 0 reputation around here. All I can do is say I'm not here to scam anyone, and I wouldn't put a week+ of work into this if I did.

OMG OMG I HAVE A PROBLEM!
Email dudeami0@gmail.com right away! I'll watch this topic, but an email will get a much more prompt response.

Supported Currencies:
BTC (Bitcoin)
LTC (Litecoin)
PPC (PPCoin)
FTC (FeatherCoin)
BQC (BBQCoin)
BTB (BitBar)
YAC (YACoin)

Any comments or questions feel free to ask!

Not to accuse you, but week+ work for a lets say 100+ or maybe 1000+ BTC is quite a nice payout if you were a scammer.

I'll be waiting to see some comments on how this is working and will base my final opinion on the feedback.

I understand, and that is your choice. As this is a beta, I encourage people not to send large amounts of coins as well.

Its an escrow service basically, I choose exchange while developing it and havn't really changed it. I might if it causes too much confusion.

Quite cool project, you forgot Doubloons though. And FC2. Oh and Bitgems. ;D

Link me to the sources for these and I'll look at adding them. Last time I looked FC2 didn't have any sources available.

You may want to add a section for public trades. That way it would be more of an exchange.

Is the trade locked once I've entered my adresses?
Do I pay the transaction fees even if the trade does not succeed?

Maybe add the possibility to reopen a failed trade before returning the coins.
And maybe add the exchange rate, so that you don't have to calculate it manually.

I'll look into the service, but can you go in depth in regards to explaining your security measures. As many details as possible would be great. Don't want another huge hack to ruin other altcoins. Also, look into adding MinCoin (MNC).

Maybe add the possibility to reopen a failed trade before returning the coins.
And maybe add the exchange rate, so that you don't have to calculate it manually.

For now I am going to leave it as an escrow, changing names/urls at the moment (old ones will still work). I might add exchange functionality later but this is not in the short-term.

A trade is locked once the other party hits "accept". If either party hits "decline" before then it will be marked as such and nothing further can be done. Transaction fees apply in the even of a refund, but only the network fee (the escrow fee is refunded as well), as we can't send your coins without the fee.

Right now the refund system is to avoid having large amounts of coins sitting in the escrow at one time. If you want to reopen the trade, just start a new one.

By exchange rate, what do you mean? If you mean pulling from BTC-E or similar, this could be done but would have to be a future addition. If you mean the fee, this should be shown to you during the create a new trade screen.

Doh, forgot to add this to the code. Once both transactions hit 0 confirms it should remove the timer, I'll add this shortly (at least to the backend ASAP).

You do realize that once someone views that link they can cancel the order? This isnt market ordering. This is a p2p trade system with the service as the middleman. Send a link directly to whom you are selling or buying from. Don't post them everywhere.

And maybe add the exchange rate, so that you don't have to calculate it manually.
By exchange rate, what do you mean? If you mean pulling from BTC-E or similar, this could be done but would have to be a future addition. If you mean the fee, this should be shown to you during the create a new trade screen.
If the trade is e.g 75WDC for 1.5LTC you could display the rate for 1LTC or 100WDC (which is typical for these kinds of trades). That way the buyer does not need to check manually if the rate is correct.

I changed some of the language and added some warning to get this across. I will consider adding a exchange-like function to the site, but that will be down the road.

I think leaving it as a private exchange would be good as it is, but such a feature would be helpful. Essentially your service is just an escrow.

trade has been accepted for 300 WDC to 9 LTC

i noticed that i was watching /refreshing the wrong link. the seller gets their own link with an address to send to. i sent the payment to escrow first this time. so the system can work either way. great escrow. top notch job

so if it hasnt been clarified, watch only the first page you go to when your selling, and the buyer only needs to refresh the buyer link. good system. creates a decent security with each person having their own link.

i assume this prevents someone canceling my sell order with the buy link? that must just cancel their option to buy?

sucks that anybody can cancel an order...oh well, fun while it lasted...

The URLs were really meant to be sent in private.

Bad idea

This isnt an open market exchange. It's a p2p style exchange.

I changed some of the language and added some warning to get this across. I will consider adding a exchange-like function to the site, but that will be down the road.

I think leaving it as a private exchange would be good as it is, but such a feature would be helpful. Essentially your service is just an escrow.

+1

Private links working good for me

trade has been accepted for 300 WDC to 9 LTC

i noticed that i was watching /refreshing the wrong link. the seller gets their own link with an address to send to. i sent the payment to escrow first this time. so the system can work either way. great escrow. top notch job

so if it hasnt been clarified, watch only the first page you go to when your selling, and the buyer only needs to refresh the buyer link. good system. creates a decent security with each person having their own link.

i assume this prevents someone canceling my sell order with the buy link? that must just cancel their option to buy?

Either party declining the offer will close the trade. I might remove the decline option or add an option for 'Public Trades' where the decline button is only for the user offering the trade.

Public direct trading. Nice! I like that. Better than implementing an orderbook. Basically an escrow exchange with that feature.

You should add a auto reload on the client page. and it should have a big DEAL complete in green when both parts have been send the goods.

I am thinking of adding ajax, would be simple enough for the view page. I'll get on this shortly.

More coins have been enabled:

NMC (NameCoin)
FRK (Franko)
BTG (BitGem)

As a note for those asking for nibble, I have tried to get it synced but its stuck at block 12094. Not sure how to resolve this, so it might take a while to get added.

Working on some additional features now, hopefully done within a few hours.

Edit:

Another coin added, DigitalCoin!

I will hopefully get this going before the weekend. I am also working on a few other things:

- User Accounts
- Public/Exchange-style Trading:
Public trades will be added to a page in exchange-like style. This is live feed of current buy/sell offers where a user can pick one and accept it. If the user doesn't want the full amount, he can counter offer with a partial trade at the same rate (1000X to 1Y = 100X to 0.1Y). Counter offers/Partial trades will have to be accepted by the originating party due to extra transactions fees. Both parties will deposit once they agree on a offer/counter-offer, and then delivered or refunded.

Also some stats! 9 Trades have been completed, and we've moved a small amount of coins:
litecoin: 139.01
worldcoin: 4650
goldcoin: 520
mincoin: 15

bitcoin
litecoin
bbqcoin
namecoin
devcoin
bitgem (updating)

I will update this post when everything has been resolved. There were no active trades during the shutdown/crash.

Edit: Also, PhenixCoin has been added!

Update: Everything but bitcoin is up.

Update everybody, I had a bug with accepting trades (>.<), all is well now. I'll be moving the server sometime tomorrow I hope. I will be disabling creating new trades before I do. Once the server changes, the old server will be left up to process any lingering transactions (refunds included).

I've tried, but when compiling it from the github repo it gives me bitcoind that syncs with bitcoins network :S
