Do you think Ether will catch up? The technology is more advanced, but will scalability of ethereum be an issue?

i believe it will not happen,
Bitcoin is a genuine
and Ethereum is a innovation.
Ethereum created based on Bitcoin(ideas),this is what he said back then.
For ETH,Bitcoin is like his father.
Bitcoin told him everything about his experience and ETH learned it.
But even if it's more advanced than Bitcoin,it will never surpass the Genuine.

Every altcoin will exist as long as Bitcoin exist,but if an altcoin is dying Bitcoin will keep survive.
Bitcoin die = Altcoin die
and Ethereum is an altcoin.

Note: everybody have their opinion so if you find a multi statements try to filter it and do some research

I honestly think that Bitcoin will still be on top, but i think the gap will close. The fact is that Ethereum also gets a little look into as Bitcoin gets the publicity because more and more people get interested in cryptocurrencies.


As of today Bitcoin is $4,350 and Ethereum is $329. I think in 5 years they will continue to increase, but instead of Ethereum only having the value of less than 10% of a bitcoin it will be more like 50 / 60%

I really don't thinkEth will be as big as bitcoin. Even when Eth becomes big as bitcoin, then bitcoin will be bigger even bigger.

If we focus these top digital currency, both has decent potential been increased. Volume and market statistics indicate that Bitcoin will be incresing and remain same position but ETH has also good opportunity over Bitcoin one day!

I chose Bitcoin because Ethereum has not made significant feature changes, if up to 5 years ahead Eth does not add feature then Bitcoin will stay ahead.

I think Bitcoin will stay on top it is the original cryptocurrency that most people know about and trust, ether will definitely increase in value a lot in 5 years time imo

Which will be the top based on what? Market cap? Transactions/day? It depends. Bitcoin and Ethereum are both really famous cryptocurrencies but they're made for different purposes. Bitcoin is made for a global decentralized currency(or storage value, for some), whereas ethereum is made mainly for smart contracts.

In my opinion though, if bitcoin couldn't fix the scaling issues in probably a year from now, I wouldn't be surprised if it were to be overtaken by a different cryptocurrency. Though it would take probably more than a year, since bitcoin is still the cryptocurrency that has all the publicity. People barely know other coins like Monero, Dash, etc.

Guys, in 5 years, what will be more popular an orange or an apple? Or may be a potato?

Considering that Ethereum is based on blockchain, which is the technology that Bitcoin introduced to the world, I believe that Bitcoin will likely always remain on top as far as cryptos are concerned

BTC is still best And it is increasing Like rocket, So next few years it never down I thought,

ETH also best coin as I seen, But not near BTC, So next 5 year BTC can top.

According to me Bitcoin is still going to remain on the top in 5 years. First of all, etherum can't be counted as a currency as it is just used as a token for smart contracts and decentralised applications. Also, ethereum is at its peak right now, so it's prices are going to come down in the future whereas, as bitcoins are gaining more and more acceptance in the market, bitcoin's value will reach a high. Ethereum still has more barriers to overcome to reach the top.

I do not know what you mean with catching up?

- Awareness? Surely not.

- Price? Surely not.

- Winning percentage? It might be possible that Ethereum will see a booming phase with winning percentages of bitcoin.

Basically people buy what they know or hear of and I am pretty sure that over 90% of the users are clueless that the technology of Ethereum is more advanced.

Bitcoin is a worlds famous highest valuable crypto coin . which price is increasing day by day . in last 1 week it's value increased one thousand or more . I think that Bitcoin will still be on top and it will be for sure. Every altcoin will exist as long as Bitcoin exist, but if an altcoin is dying Bitcoin will keep survive. But no altcoin can't cross to bitcoin . Bitcoin is father of all coins. It is still best And it is increasing Like rocket, So next few years it will be the top .

It is the fact that most of us do not know a well about Ethereum. As per the technological advancements it is quite clear that ethereum is far beyond the limits.Due to the excess of use by the people Bitcoin do have a greater market value and everyone feels that the prices are going to rise in the upcoming years.

In my opinion comparing both the of them is a foolish  task because ethereum could  never be declared as digital currency rather it is only a way to deal with decentralized transactions.

You are right on your first sentence but quite wrong in your second one.

Ethereum is actually not derived from bitcoin as ethereum offers smart contracts and its a platform for decentralized apps (DAPPS) rather than for daily payments. Bitcoin on other hand is purely for payments and store of value. I think ETH is not decentrlized like bitcoin that's why many still scare to invest in it, vitalik have majority power to make changes in ETH network.

Bitcoin will obviously win this race since it has a better growth than ETH. ETH is a good currency but lacks support from the crypto community.
Bitcoin on the other hand has a major support from the community and the number is increasing day by day as new members are joining the community. So BTC has better chances than ETH to be in the top over the next 5 years.

Im honestly with bitcoin only because it is showing or has shown the potential for the future development. Just look at it, how much market cap it has gotten in such hard situation also whereas Ethereum still stood the same as it was few months ago. Being core of ICO projects the Ethereum is not getting invested by many of the token holders. They are just making use of it to invest into ICO tokens nothing else. Explain why Ethereum does not pump meanwhile? May be it unlimited and more or less being controlled for its prices. So I'm pretty sure that it will take lot of time to get pumped. Meanwhile bitcoin may quadruple next year, who knows more than that so just invest in the ether and stay happy. :-)

No I don't think that ethereum is gonna catch up with bitcoin, I know that it have a better technology and also faster time for transfer of funds but that doesn't mean that it can surpass bitcoin that easily, it's the most backed cryptocurrency, and also the first ever cryptocurrency to be made.
And also that bitcoin is also evolving with time with major network implementations and changes to combat the problems that it is facing now.

I would say Bitcoin is going to be dominating the Crypto-world forever, Ether will grow big but out of both if I had to pick one it would be BTC since Bitcoin is already pretty established but I am sure ETH has lot of growth potential but I don't think ETH will cross BTC price range.

Ethereum is good but it's not comparable to Bitcoin as there many reasons for this like today's parity multisignature wallet hack issue. ETH has many security issues which needs to be solved first and it's blockchain size is fucking huge it's around 400GB so If I want to build anything on ETH platform then I need to download the whole 400 fucking GBs of data.

I think  bitcoin will be the boss always as long as crypto exists . No matter how much improvements ethereum do , it will never catch bitcoin . But ethereum has a really good future ahead

What made you get confused. Among the altcoins Eth might be the leader to the entire altcoins as a whole in terms of Market capital, growth as well in supporting with its smart contracts blockchain platform. When compared with bitcoin, whether it's just five years or more than that, bitcoin will be the head.

i always find it funny how the ethereum bag holders keep creating new accounts to show their desperation for a pump.


and what technology is that? the buggy platform which can not handle a surge of smart contract transactions, which is the only thing it was designed to do? you think this platform is more advanced than the cryptocurrency called bitcoin?

bitcoin will stay ahead. and will dominate the crypto world, but I think that ethereum will make some progress in the future, although not progressing fast, but eth ttp price can be stable, I like both

Ether can not reach the BitCoin level.But it will climb next 5 years.All the transactions were done by based on Ether.

I think Bitcoin is still the top of coin in 5 years later. Because, with its advantages, it will be accepted in the future by many countries.

No doubt a tremendous growth has been seen in the price of Ether but it is nowhere near to Bitcoin. Bitcoin price has reached new heights and is still growing at a very fast rate . People are now becoming conversant to it's potential so more number of people have started working with it which is increasing it's demand.As the demand is increasing so price is also increasing.We can say that it has really positive and a bright future. So according to me out of Bitcoin and Ether, Bitcoin will be at the top in 5 years.

IMHO, nothing could beat Bitcoins because it holds the majority of the market share and something that holds the cause for the existence of this "crypto" world could not be put behind by any such technology for whatsoever reasons. If it was to put it behind, why is it slipping during Bitcoin's rise?
This shows the superiority of Bitcoins has taken an all new level and can put everything too much behind where none of these could even try to catch up.

Well 5 years, I think it is a very long period to say something. I mean, who knows if we will be here in 5 years?  ;D
I believe that 2018 will be another great year for Bitcoin and I can hardly imagine another cryptocurrency dethroning Bitcoin. With that being said, I also believe in the growth of Ethereum for the future.

Let's check this predictions after 5 years ;) Imo total market cap of cryptocurrencies will exceed the apple's cap after few years. In this case btc price should exceed the 10000$ level. Ethereum also has good potential but my guess is 6000$ after 5 years.

Bitcoin has been on top for years now, and before it will lose that position to ETH or any other,that will take long. ETH is a promising coin, but for it to go half of bitcoin current price now will not be easy and will take time.

None of the current coins can reach the heights of btc and none of them can overcome btc in any time period. Only thing what will change crypto market is something new and completely different coming in.

Ethereum was not made to over took bitcoin from the beginning and we have to look at ether as a different technology outside bitcoin. Bitcoin is like a central bank to others coins and of a truth it has been serving that purpose. Ethereum's scalling is not going to be an issue as a lot of advisement is been add every days. Bitcoin market capitalization in 5 years to come may be above 500,000,000,000 billions and I don't think ethereum will have investors trust to get to that level.

I agree that ethereum could not cope up with what bitcoin has gone through specially the progress of it value in the market right now. Possibly bitcoin will hit that very high price within five years also with ethereum but still its second to bitcoin, because of the demand still couldn't surpass due to ethereum has to be traded first to bitcoin so it's still depe dent with btc' economy. However if agreed on some exchangers sites in the future maybe there will be an implementation of ethereum to fiat trading, then we can say the possibility is there already.

After 5 years in my opinion bitcoin will still stand on top, due to good movement of bitcoin in the market I never see any reason to surpass by ethereum. Otherwise bitcoin was so in demand to all members and investors so this is  enough reasons to believe to the ability of bitcoin.
Moreover since started, bitcoin was always on top no one can steal this position for the past 6 years.

I think Ethereum will definitely catch up but I do not suspect that it will surpass bitcoin, certainly not within the next 5 years. For me Ethereum is better and has more use cases but bitcoin is the king and it will take a lot of time to change that.

Yeah your analyses for this matter is somehow correct it would take for several  for ethereum to catch up because Bitcoin is the first ever crypto currency made, for several years Bitcoin is number one in Crypto currency, there is no doubt that the team working with these would probably  surpassed several challenges that go through their way. Although ethereum is faster in term of technology but still a long way to catch up, but hopefully that in the world of crypto currency  the time would come that there is  a pair competition so that there is no monopoly happen, but for now I’ve seen that BTC will still get the dominance of cryto currency world.

As of today, the gap between bitcoin and ethereum is so wide that it will take serious event against bitcoin and in favour of Ethereum for both of them to be of the same market value. Despite the fact that ethereum has more advance technology as compared to bitcoin, ether till has a long way to go, for it to be of the same value with bitcoin in the nearest future.

5 years can be a game changer as eth have so many things to develop while btc are still getting a lots of support, if hacked inside eth wallet can be solved and if development with btc stop I guess eth can surpass what btc already achieved its only "if" everything went smoothly with the development of eth after 5 years.

I dont think ether can catch up as bitcoin was the pioneer in crypto currency and both have different capitalization. Its possible that the price will cope up as bitcoin prices continue to rise but it will still be the second in line  ;D

My guess Is Bitcoin, Because Bitcoin is getting popular day by day and getting influence on market of crypto currencies. Many people are getting interested in it and adopting it I believe it will be top in 5 years unless government involve in it and do something stupid that will effect Bitcoin.

I think bitcoin will still be on top, due to the hype of bitcoin and the media attention. Bitcoin is now getting more known with the public, if the public decides to buy cryptocurrency it will be bitcoin. For them the cryptoworld is unknown and bitcoin is well known and safe to them and easily accesible for now. So i think also in trading bitcoin will be mainly used due to the hype of it yet ehter can be a good second. However if ether will manage to spread more among the masses and will be easily accicble, they can become a good second!

Bitcoin has proven its superiority by helping the market cap to raise above 205 Billion out of which Bitcoin possesses 130 Billion belongs to Bitcoins alone whereas Ethereum stands at 2nd highest with 28 billion market cap. Ethereum has smart contracts and since ICOs came into existence, its ERC20 technology has helped many companies to come up with their projects with ease but still unable to capture even half of the market cap of Bitcoins yet. I think Bitcoin will always be superior to all the altcoins because it's bitcoin at the other end to transact alts as well as give value to them.

I really don't think that will happen anytime. Bitcoin stood its ground from beginning. Ethereum will definitely be very big in the future but I don't think it can be as big as bitcoin.

I think bitcoin will always be above eth, why? because the bitcoin 50 steps is more advanced than the eth.
Although eth increases rapidly, bitcoin will also always increase rapidly.

We all know that according to the technological point of view ethereum is far better than the bitcoins but the real issue is its market price that is not more than the Btcs.

The investment shares in the global market are much lesser for the ethereum and most of the investment is being done in form of the Btcs therefore it is not possible in the next many years even that ethereum coin would catch up the market in place of bitcoins.

Ethereum and bitcoin are going in different ways, bitcoin as asset or currency and ethereum as platform for applications. What is better to have for future is probably both, more bitcoins because price is higher and we can do more with bitcoins then ethereum, and in 5 years difference in price will be the same bitcoin on first and ethereum behind, but both will grow and ethereum have many coins that is backing it up.
Both are good for keeping, ethereum is much cheaper and that is attractive now, and when bitcoin cash is over 1000 dollars I expect now ethereum to join there, who have money should think about investing now on time.

I also think that bitcoin will still prevails its value on the market in the next 5 or more years proving its worth in the market through transactions and investments. And one of the proof is one of your claims in which ethereum is an innovation making its value dependent to the current value of bitcoin in which most of crypto-currency depends their price in the market. It is a big factor because it is quite hard to established a good perception on the market with out having the right deal to be become a choice on transactions.

Yes, bitcoin has a large number of users and they are very high as compared to ETH. ETH is also a potential currency but for now bitcoin is many years ahead of it and I think it will remain at the top of the list every time. Most of the cryptocurrency users trust bitcoin and used it in your every transaction as it is the best of all. The technology of bitcoin is a bit past technology but  it  has gained the interest of people  and it value has reached at a very good height  and is still increasing so I don’t think that ETH will reach  to the  height of Bitcoin. 

As you said bitcoin will be on the top of the crypto currency list because bitcoin is accepted world wide more than the ETH.Ethereum will be a good competitor for bitcoin in future but I don't think it will replace bitcoins.This is because ETH transactions are little bit complicated and the using ETH wallet also not easy for the common people.
But currently ETH is cheaper so it is better to grab our ETH now to make a huge profits in five years.

Both of these currencies will stay in the top 5. Bitcoin as a main and leading cryptocurrency and ETH as an altcoin. They will keep their positions and ETH will not be a threat to Bitcoin and it can't achieve its position or popularity but will stay as a strong competition. If you think about investing, invest in both, ths would be a good diversity of your funds.

Both are the most popular and widely used cryptocurrencies with huge market cap of billions.They both have the potential to grow in future but we cannot compare ETH to Bitcoin as it will always remain ahead of it in the long run also.There is difference of almost $7800 between both the currencies and it cannot be covered easily.Although the technical background of ETH is strong but it is not much stable and still lacks in many way.

I think Bitcoin will at the top after 5 years because Bitcoin is well known digital currency and every should want to move on the Bitcoin and there are lot of Branded companies start accepting Bitcoin, one of the well known Amazone website recently accepting bitcoin, So according to time the bitcoin is spreading and after 5 years it will on the moon.

It is really hard to imagine that Ethereum will be on top after five years. Is it possible yes but probability of that happening is slim. Although Ethereum has ton of great projects I think investors will still prioritize buying Bitcoin because it is somewhat foundation of crypto currency.

Eth and bitcoin are two most impressive coins right now in international market and they both are progressing with most accelerated speed. But bitcoin is taking lead and Eth is following it among all altcoins. Bitcoin have showed better performance against Eth but they both are potential coins. And like you have said, there are more chances for bitcoin to be on top after few years.

Tough to call or predict which might be leading in next 5 years. But Bitcoin might be still be leading ETH, but they might be close to each other. Its a prediction though, as ETH has some solid backpush by the tokens and ICOs attached to it. So it will be growing good, but still Bitcoin might be ahead because people enter this market by beginning with Bitcoin, and even in 5 years there will be enough new entries remaining.
