Title: What do you think about these altcoins for long term investment
Post by: FrankNoland on August 26, 2017, 04:26:33 PM
For the past few days, I have been investing in some altcoins, I managed to invest in civic, nxt, dogecoin, reddcoin, and I am willing to hold these coins for a few years from now. I just hope that I will benefit from all the investments I have made so far.

Out of those you listed the only one i would potentially hold would be nxt. Doge although being the joke of cryptos its a pretty solid coin, I just wouldnt expect the price to rise any further than where its at. Everyone hopes to get in on the next coin to go moonwards, reddcoin i dont know much about other than its some socialnetwork coin so maybe it could hit it big?? Civic i just fail to see where its value comes from.

Holding of cryptocurrencies with potential is a great form of investment. No doubt, you list includes some good names. But where people loose is "patience".
Continuous checking of rates and charts everyday panic the investor. The daily up/downs force investors to sell off his investment immaturely.
So be patient and don't panic if coin looses value in future. Patience is always rewarded.

I appreciate your honesty, I also have hope that nxt will go big within a period of a few years. With dogecoin and reddcoin I was just trying my luck, I love the solid part on dogecoin.

I am going to be patient with these coins, I am just having hope that one day they might reach my desired value. I am thinking of withdrawing them from bittrex wallet and store them on my hardware wallet.

I will consider those two on my next altcoin investments, I am thinking of buying more altcoins and hold them for a long period for better benefits and outcomes. I see that a lot of altcoins have huge potential.

In my opinion civic is over bought, their app does not even work on some devices, civic value is on free rise and free fall at the same time. Because when you use their service, it does not matter the price of the token the finality will be settled on fiat. Nxt is the only decent project you have on your list, you may want to hold on that. Although dogecoin is fun, we can't see reaching $1 don't we? Reddcoin has a lot of supply that'll never equate for its demand.

IMO, NXT is good for Long term. DOGE is steady so I don't expect significant price rise, though I keep some too because i like the community.

There was a chart on twitter showing historical performance of coins over time. In short... it's getting worse.

Better to exit early and take either profit or loss, there's about the same amount of coins launched every year with long-term potential but they tend to get lost between all the empty ones launched recently.

I thank your honesty. I am not intending to sell any of the above listed coins anytime soon. Dogecoin might some day reach $1, I just can't wait for that day. I guess I will be buying some more nxt since I have a few, considering that I will be investing in some more altcoins.

the only problem i see is that you bought near the top. so if you have the nerves to hold through bear market everything is good otherwise sell and rebuy at lower.
I would not hold Doge...

i am not familiar with civic.

NXT is decent enough and it is mostly stable with small bumps, so don't expect much profit from it.

Dogecoin is a crappy coin that has no cap and there is billions of it available and there is only one future for it: drop down to zero

RDD: is more of a short term investment. it is the same as Dogecoin with no future and a huge supply. it will also go down to zero. but for the time being it is being hyped up because of Redd-ID and has a pump. there is also stake reward if you are into it.

It's been almost 6 months for me to have dogecoin and nxt until to this day I still hold it and will keep it,  until it reaches a higher price than the price when I buy it and hopefully someday they will rise and i will get some profit.

I'm not sure I would hold long term any of these in hope of profit. Doge might keep value because it is an historical coin, has it's fans, and is used to trade on some exchanges (cryptoIa for exemple) low value coins, so it keeps a purpose. Nxt might be around for a while, but I fail to see a reason why it might reach new heights. I can't see any future for reddcoin or civic. I think if you want to hold long term you would be better off holding bitcoin rather that these.

I think waves have a huge potential on long terms. It makes it better that you can lease your waves and have an additional rewards.

As practice shows, while the greatest profit is given by bitcoin. Competitors in this yet. From altcoyins I like Ethereum. He is second after bitkoin in the list of capitalization - more than 31 billion dollars. In addition, many ICOs can not do without him, which serves him as additional support. Yes, and the growth of his course is impressive. So I think that you need to invest in leaders.

Actually as you may see most of all altcoins was rised up in this year 5-10 times. So there is very high chances that this coins will rise again and again! (I only don't know civic).
Buy you need to my some coins on etherium, wings is good in my opinion.
And one more coin, waves - also have some potential.

Patience is the key element in investment repted alot but hard to master. I have hard time with it also.. Besides your listed coins I would strongly suggest several more who have life changing projects like OMG PAY and you cannot forsee NEO it is cheiness ETH. As you know. So store them offline and go on with your life. Check them once in 6 months and be happy  :)

I would like to add waves into your list. If you can keep patience what most people lost, then it is better to go for long term investment. But I think you have to check the progress of coins daily. Doge is good for long term to get max profit. Hope it will go up within next few months. Reddcoin may take time to go up. I am not much familiar with civic and next. But I am pretty sure these coins give you the best profit in the long term if you keep eyes every day.

Well, never heard about civi and reddcoin but for dogecoin, i don't think it's a good idea to invest on dogecoin for long term investment. It's better to choose a new altcoin that have a big project and a good future. There are many cheap altcoin out there that can increase so high in the future.

Civic is going to be huge potentially. As others have said, you have to hold UNLESS you no longer believe in the team or the tech - then you sell.

Don't forget about TRST -going to take off shortly.

Discovered a number of ex Google employees have entered the crypto space - the development team for WeTrust (TRST) includes a couple of guys who were deep in at Google. They are working towards a finance model for banking services to be used in the mainstream which utilises the ancient concept of the trusted circle for those without traditional banking access points.  I think the Indian, Chinese and Viet market will go crazy for this.  Think of “village banking”.  Reading between the lines I could speculate that the Dev team may have retained links and/or may even be working in league with the tech giant, Google, but there is no proof.

I’m adding it to my Asian collection (NEO, Qtum, XEM and OMG)

Reddcoin is a gamble but could pay off big.  NXT is probably your most stable choice. I would add a few others just to be more well rounded. Many great suggestions mentioned in this thread.

i think for dogecoin and nxt, you can save in your private wallet in computer or android phone wallet because if you have a plan to save for a long time like years from now, i think its too risky. its better that we have full control for our coin if we want to hold. for reddcoin i don't know, but for civic, i think you can save civic in jaxx wallet because i see in their update, they are adding civic into jaxx.

Waves and Ethereum could be added in the list for a long term investment. I agree, nxt is one of the best choice to hold and could be a great in portfolio. These could help to earn huge profit for a long term investment.

doge and reddcoin
I am not sure you will get a good profit from both coins, because the price is very very stable, never experienced a significant increase.
I suggest it is better to replace both coins with ETH, Waves, or NEO, because they have potential for the future 8)

altcoin for long-term investment is good, because altcoin also has good prices but only a good portion of altcoin for long-term investments such as ETH because good reputations are always good prices will generate profits if capital goes into investment.

A tip would be to not follow the market but anticipate the market:  look for the coming upside. Once a coin rewards you then you have a special place for it.

For instance I bought NEO at about $7 and the rest his history.

The reason I think QTUM is about to take off and could be the next NEO is as follows (a few of the reasons)

1. Interview of QTUM team on CCTV, will create awareness (Chinese news channel supported by Govt and PBOC)

2. Will have a WeChat or QQ integration, WeChat's mini-programs will allow users to transact using QTUM and also avail its service by paying through QTUM

3. Number of DApps built on QTUM > number of DApps built on NEO

4. Rumoured they have two 100 billion remninbi investor backing

5.  Asian Exchange listing

6 - they are planning to launch QEA (QTUM Enterprise Alliance).  Now there is speculation they are in talks with Alibaba and Tencent as the first allies but that has not been confirmed so at this stage please just treat it as pure rumour only.  Don't factor that into any price considerations.

But do your own research. I hold NEO and Qtum and OMG and TRST.

for me maybe dogecoin is good altcoin, because the fee sends small and the process is fast , ethereum and ltc is also good but i still not very understand.
For the long term just look at the new altcoin with interesting innovation.
good luck!

Eth can be an investment for you. But the opportunities you make can be used as a reference. You are lucky to get good in this cryptocurrency world. sometimes a high risk we must also feel. :)

because people want to increase their bitcoin holding and not their fiat holding and that is why they only choose to trade altcoins with bitcoin and nothing else.

the ether markets you saw don't even have enough volume most of the times. nobody cares about them anyways, sometimes people do some arbitrage trading like that but nothing more.

Among them, dogecoin will ever be on supply, that would make their price nearly constant with fiats as the price of other cryptocurrency increases.

For long-term investment among Altcoins, in my opinion, Ethereum is suitable, because it has the highest capitalization and rate, and many other coins are created on its platform, and in addition, most ICOs do not cost without Ethereum. Other coins for long-term investment are Ripple, Monero, Litecoin

I sold mine for some reasons, but I still think that its a good coin. For some reasons, its value hardly goes up and I don't think I am that patient, I just cannot hold on to a coin without any guarantee that I will benefit from holding on to it. Its a good thing the timing was perfect the moment I sold it, the value was even a few satoshis higher than the value I bought it for. However, if you have all the patience in the world, just hold on to your dogecoin.Probably it might worth it after a few years.

I love this statement' patience is the key element in investment but hard to master'. But the thing is I don't have that patience at all, so I got rid of dogecoin, reddcoin and a few more. I ended up thinking that it was just a waste of time. However, I managed to buy some more  neo, omg, etc and a few more. I just believe that with these ones I will be able to make profit in no time.

I also think that Neo is a good coin, all these Chinese ban won't affect it in anyway. However, its value went a bit down but this shouldn't make us panic, we know it will recover soon once all these is over. We should consider this moment as an opportunity to invest more into this coin. Hopefully we might benefit after a few years/months, I guess its worth a try.
