How can you determine whether you are addicted to gambling?

Very simple, you can determinate it when you play everyday, when you win a big sum and cant stop, when you spend your salary thinking that you can win
I know lot of people that have this problem, because gambling addiction is a problem

A player would surely not know that he is already hook to gambling because of addiction, but the people around him would surely notice anything that has change towards him, A gambling addiction is a compulsion and the end result can be devastating for the gambler as well as their family. and Gambling addictions can lead to other serious effects, including loss of jobs, failed relationships and severe debt. anyone can surely know that their friends are a problem gambler.

It's the easiest to know in gambling. The main thing that we can know if someone is addicted to gambling is when they do the game, if indeed when they do gambling in a way that is too ambitious or play without taking into account all things, then it is certainly an addiction. And also usually a gambling addict do everything they like, and the funds they use are not taken into account.

There are lots of threads or users who do ask this kind of question all over again and again but to answer this one you can just simply know that you are already addicted to gambling is when you are already playing for longer periods and you are already wasting up money on engaging with it and also you are forgetting your responsibilities and priorities in life.

Very simple I think. When you can not stop gambling when you contantly lose money and when you try to win this money back not matter what it costs. And if you risk things that will destroy your life. Once I read a story of a family father who started to gamble with small amounts. It ended that he lend the house and all the family savings to be able to continuing gambling after he had a unluck streak. He lost all. House, savings and family. He did suicide later.

I was addicted to gambling in the past as I used to eagerly wait for my signature campaign payments and as soon as it used to get reflected in my bitcoin wallet it would take no time for me to go to gambling sites and start gambling and at that time I realized that I am addicted to gambling but slowly and steadily I changed my habit and now I never gamble with my money which is actually helping me in saving my bitcoins for future.

One thing is if you stop gambling you will feel a withdrawal effect.  Anxiety, stress and the longing to gamble more.  Another thing is that you gamble till you drop and keep on coming back even if you do not have fund.  You will sell your belonging take a loan even do nasty thing just to have money for gambling sake.  Another way is to check if you are still in control of yourself when you are gambling.

For me, the problem become mental/addicted when you are thinking about gambling or future/past result of your bets even when you are off the gambling venue.

For example you are having family time but your mind is on gambling wave - this is a problem, you are addicted and you need help. Or if you blow away money you wan't afford to lose.

Determing about yourself isn't hard suddenly you will feel that you want to gamble and you get a feeling from inside that you are in luck and you are sure that you are gonna win and when you win you forget you are in profit and you can exit now but instead you think of your loss and continue to gamble and lose

I am here to read the thread. I am sick of gambling. my friend put me into this. now I have lost of amount but still doing gambling.

The thing is that the one's who are addicted never seem to realize how deep they are in unless it too late, they have the excuse that they can quit whenever they want but they don't, I think its up to family and friends to show them how addicted they are to gambling and it goes for most addictions.

So if you're nose deep into it in an attempt to recover what your friend made you loose then you don't need us to tell you that you're addicted or perhaps you're in the state of getting addicted.

Addiction is a whole different level than trying to recover your losses. If someone is addicted, he will be coming back for gambling even if he has won a good amount in it. When somebody is suffering from addiction, he does not care about his destruction as the person is totally out of his control.

Pretty easy. They usually are spending lot of time on gambling and daily activities are based on it,  they see gambling as main source of money income, they are feeling great amount of joy, like adrenaline rush when are winning, trying to regain cash when have bad day or bad days and not just with their bankroll but taking loans for that cause... Those are some basic symptoms of person that is addicted on gambling.

If you don't find any other ways of earning money and if you are depending only on gambling for making money or for living then that is the stage when you should understand that you are addicted to gambling as you will always find shortcuts to earn money as you don't have any other way to earn money.

If it's all you think about and you constantly thinking of ways to get money so that you can gamble it and you always chasing your losses with money you cannot afford to lose then you might have an addiction problem. If you can control the spend you might still be ok. If you asking if it's ok or not then it's probably not ok and you are an addict. Doesn't mean you shouldn't gamble it just means sort it out and lmiit it so when if you bet wildly you won't busy beyond recovery.

I find myself impulsively going to a dice table or poker table and getting tilted to lose money. That is definitely one of the signs of being addicted to gambling.

Other than that, anytime you feel like going to gamble at random times should be a clear sign.

That reply alone sounds like your getting hooked in to gambling it could only become worse in the future. I want to give an advice but I know it won't help because the only person who can help you now is yourself.

For your mistakes don't blame others because in this world you will see many good things and bad things. God has given us a thinking capacity so you should think before doing something. You friend might have introduced to these gambling just for fun but you took it seriously and lost your money for that you can't blame your friend. At least stop now and move on with other things instead of finding ways to get back your money again from gambling.

When a person is addicted to gambling there are intances that they do something that will fill the neccessity they feel because for them a day won't last without gambling. That person will always find a way in order to fill their longing for gambling either steal, pilfer or borrow money. They also trade for their belongings or  possessions to get money and use it for gambling. They always return for that specific gambling place, because it is a pleasure for them that makes them complete. Usually gambling addicts are lost, because after they spent money they go back to nothing that's the reason why they commit crime.

I think you'll know when you are addicted to gambling when you can't stop gambling, whether you win or loose in the game you still play it and would want to win back your losses. You gamble almost everyday and when you get to a point you don't have any money to play, you then decide to sell or make a collateral with your house or car or anything you could think of just to play the game. I know someone who did this though, he sold his car just to gamble.

impulses are natural, it's just part of being human to have such impulses to do things you enjoy. I think your definition of addiction is either loose or classifying addiction to gambling as a different type altogether. personally, I'd mark a person as an addict (to anything, really) if they were consciously making the decision to pursue their addiction at the cost of something that may not be worth the trade-off or is a basic necessity. for example, if someone didn't pay their electricity bill to use the money at a casino, I'd consider them an addict.

Exactly, every gambler who spends a minute or two reflecting will definitely know whether he is addicted or not. It's no rocket science and per your daily activities of gambling and effort of recovering your previous losses.

I don't think it is simple, because as you said it is a problem for addicted gambler than we can't say that it has simple solution. It is impossible for addicted gambler to follow the determination about gambling and left the addiction in a day. But little bit it is possible that if addicted gamble really want to leave from addiction gambling then he should determinate every time to start the game and till the end he should control ourself and follow the rules which help him to left the addiction.

I don't know. Maybe when it starts getting problems to your life, or at least when you are spending more time in gambling than on anything else.

I think it won't be that hard to detect if you're addicted already or not. You'll feel it. If you're always thinking about gambling, if.you're considering leaving work to play, if it seems that your day isn't complete without making bets, then you are an addicted gambler.

When you cant stop gambling and you feel gambling is more important than your job and your family and you feel that you can win no matter how many times you had lost and you spend all of your money to gamble and you brorrow money from your friends to gamble, that is the sign that you are addicted

Maybe when you keep losing and you cannot control yourself, you set a limit but you were not able to follow it.
You are already being enslave with gambling and your worst enemy is yourself, when you are addicted you should quit when it's still early because the longer you become addicted the more it is hard to cure, you need other people's help to cure addiction and best to approach your family in that matter.

If a person can not live a day without gambling or can not stop and lose all the money, then it already clearly means that there is a serious dependence on this kind of entertainment.

The topic has been discussed many times here and there addiction of gambling is too hard to control or leave. Once a gambler get into this, he'll not hesitate to sell anything to gamble more and more.

There are many signs which shows the addiction. If you can't stay away from the gambling, if you start feeling uncomfortable or uneasy while staying away from the game and if you badly wants to play the game at any cost, then its a sign of addictions.Agreed that, people around the gambler could see the addiction signs easily than the gambler itself.

Exactly, I'd like to add that Addiction literally means having the motivation to repeatedly do something and so if you find yourself always trying to gamble even if you're out of money then it's a sign you're getting addicted and this can only be corrected by forming a  counter attitude which wil occupy your gambling times.

Very few user himself realizes that they were addicted. Majority of the users who are on the way towards getting addicted knows their situation, but some holds control and stay within limits and avoid addiction while the rest just search alternative ways to win rather than the elements to get away from this.

Actually, I subscribe to your opinion. I think that your words have rational grain names in relation to the dependence on gambling. The fact is that a gambler never recognizes his dependence on gambling and, equivalently as a drug addict does not recognize his dependence on drugs.

I also found this description quite accurate and in line with my own experience and observations. But i wonder, can you stay in control for years but suddenly become an addict?

Theres always a possibility as long we are exposed on gambling or anything. We might have control for longer years but there would be a time on which you wont realize that you are already fall for it.

If there is a drastic change in our mind and body when we can not fulfill our desire to gamble then, we certainly have been addicted. All kinds of addictions will have almost the same effect on our body and mind.

When you don’t want to miss a day going to gamble. You can’t stop playing it in any case. Many times you have money, you gamble. Many times you don’t have money but still you just borrowed it form anyone else if you arrange it by any means. That is the point when you must know that you have been addicted to this bad game.

You over did it a little bit. Nobody is gonna die if skips gambling for one day. However, if we say that he would keep on thinking about gambling on daily basis, then we won't be wrong. Definitely, he would be a gambling addict; a pure gambler soul would be residing inside him.

We can determine whether  we are addicted in one gambling if we cant control our self to spend our time to do that things.

Human has a freewill to do what we want to do in our life, but  we have a control on what we want to do in our everyday life, sometimes even we want to stop doing something but we cant do it because we always doing that things and we looking for that things always.

When I knew gambling for the first time, I was dislike it's gameplay but for somehow , I'm start to deposit because I saw many promo , fun gameplay , and winners
And finally, I won 0.09 with 0.02 initial deposit. It's feel amazing to win big so I keep betting again and again until I've loss it all

Based on my own experience. I used to be a Gambling addict, at first I haven't noticed it. I engage myself in gambling at a young age, I was a Student when I first held poker chip and play my first game. My friend was the one who taught me about poker and eventually, the one who invited me to play. My first game is so lit I won my first poker game (Believe it or not), They call it the beginner's luck. That triggered me to play more up to the point that I almost lost my supposed Tuition fee. My friends noticed some changes in me, at first they notice that every time I have coins I tend to do the poker chip shuffle (I didn't even notice it, All I think is I'm just playing with my coins), I always talk about poker and any kind of stuff related to Gambling, I lied to them just to go to a poker tournament just to watch and sometimes play, I became uncomfortable whenever they are trying to say something against poker, I developed short tempered, and last I ask for money just to play. It was really hard for me to resist playing poker, I was in the state in which my life without poker is meaningless.

That's how bad I am before I started to rehabilitate myself. There are a lot of ways to determine if you are addicted to gambling or onto something in general:
1. Your day isn't complete without you engaging in that particular game or etc.
2. Developed mannerism
3. Uncomfortable or you always think of that particular game
4. Sudden Breakdown
5. Uncontrollable visit into casino and playing
6. Became too greedy

Actually we will feel it if we addicted to Gambling automatically. Especially if we want to stop gambling, if we are addicted to gambling, there will be opposition in the heart, one side wants to stop and one other side wants to keep putting bets. It will automatically we feel.

Good question. I for a long time determined that my addiction to gambling is determined by a certain amount that I can spend.

I think someone is addicted to gambling if someone keeps coming back and cant control by other people and himself in playing gambling. Mostly a person who lose a big amount of money in gambling repent to do and play bitcoin but for an addict person he will keep coming back and back again in gambling. Maybe that person has a lot of money and he/she does not know how to spend it for it is many. Too much in gambling and in any thing is also bad. Being addict in gambling has a 10%  chance to make us rich and has a 90% chance to make you poor and take your profit away from you.

If you have these characteristics then you're addicted.

you'll know that you're addicted to gambling when you're always want to play gambling and neglecting nor skipping meals in order just to play a gambling. Also when you're too greedy to get some income to gambling that's one of the sign that you're addicted to gambling. and also when you can't sleep without playing last game of gambling. I've been this once but luckily I learned how to control my addiction.

Well there is some way to find out, click on my signature start playing little amount bets, if you can stop while you are ahead or loosing you are safe. Then if you want play a sport game and can stop yourself from playing that means you got some self control. I am a compulsive gambler but I learn to control myself and that's why I am cool with it. There no shame in being a gambler. You should just be able to control yourself when you play.

It is already considered as severe gambling addiction if you do come into that point on where you are already compromising your health and not only that you do risk your financial status too.
You can really determine that you are addicted if you are still on your little control because if you are completely a gambling addict you wont really recognize your self to be one of them.

Right. If it seems that you're losing sanity if you don't gamble, thinking about it everytime of the day. I can only speculate from an onlookers perspective though as i haven't experienced being addicted to gambling yet

When all you think about is winning back your losses , when your day isn't determined by hours or activities , but with won and lost bets , when half of your salary directly goes to your bookies and you spend endless nights on dice and blackjack whether virtually or in casinos .. then you know you're an addict !
