How can you determine whether you are addicted to gambling?

Tired of answering the same question i'll just link the old thread. Someone already asked the same question before you can find it here in this thread including my answer. I doubt the author of this thread won't even read this.

I am here to read the thread. I am sick of gambling. my friend put me into this. now I have lost of amount but still doing gambling.

For your mistakes don't blame others because in this world you will see many good things and bad things. God has given us a thinking capacity so you should think before doing something. You friend might have introduced to these gambling just for fun but you took it seriously and lost your money for that you can't blame your friend. At least stop now and move on with other things instead of finding ways to get back your money again from gambling.

When a person is addicted to gambling there are intances that they do something that will fill the neccessity they feel because for them a day won't last without gambling. That person will always find a way in order to fill their longing for gambling either steal, pilfer or borrow money. They also trade for their belongings or  possessions to get money and use it for gambling. They always return for that specific gambling place, because it is a pleasure for them that makes them complete. Usually gambling addicts are lost, because after they spent money they go back to nothing that's the reason why they commit crime.

I think you'll know when you are addicted to gambling when you can't stop gambling, whether you win or loose in the game you still play it and would want to win back your losses. You gamble almost everyday and when you get to a point you don't have any money to play, you then decide to sell or make a collateral with your house or car or anything you could think of just to play the game. I know someone who did this though, he sold his car just to gamble.

I find myself impulsively going to a dice table or poker table and getting tilted to lose money. That is definitely one of the signs of being addicted to gambling.

Other than that, anytime you feel like going to gamble at random times should be a clear sign.

impulses are natural, it's just part of being human to have such impulses to do things you enjoy. I think your definition of addiction is either loose or classifying addiction to gambling as a different type altogether. personally, I'd mark a person as an addict (to anything, really) if they were consciously making the decision to pursue their addiction at the cost of something that may not be worth the trade-off or is a basic necessity. for example, if someone didn't pay their electricity bill to use the money at a casino, I'd consider them an addict.

Exactly, every gambler who spends a minute or two reflecting will definitely know whether he is addicted or not. It's no rocket science and per your daily activities of gambling and effort of recovering your previous losses.

Very simple, you can determinate it when you play everyday, when you win a big sum and cant stop, when you spend your salary thinking that you can win

I don't think it is simple, because as you said it is a problem for addicted gambler than we can't say that it has simple solution. It is impossible for addicted gambler to follow the determination about gambling and left the addiction in a day. But little bit it is possible that if addicted gamble really want to leave from addiction gambling then he should determinate every time to start the game and till the end he should control ourself and follow the rules which help him to left the addiction.

I think it won't be that hard to detect if you're addicted already or not. You'll feel it. If you're always thinking about gambling, if.you're considering leaving work to play, if it seems that your day isn't complete without making bets, then you are an addicted gambler.

Exactly, I'd like to add that Addiction literally means having the motivation to repeatedly do something and so if you find yourself always trying to gamble even if you're out of money then it's a sign you're getting addicted and this can only be corrected by forming a  counter attitude which wil occupy your gambling times.

Theres always a possibility as long we are exposed on gambling or anything. We might have control for longer years but there would be a time on which you wont realize that you are already fall for it.

If there is a drastic change in our mind and body when we can not fulfill our desire to gamble then, we certainly have been addicted. All kinds of addictions will have almost the same effect on our body and mind.
