Earlier vietnam was very skeptical about bitcoin just like China and Russia.But now,it has changed its stand and has decided to legalize bitcoin.It is said that new regulations would be implemented by the year end.

It's a good way to keep up with everything relevant that happens on a daily basis without having to read anything. I like to watch these videos while I do other things like a radio program.

As far as Vietnam accepting bitcoin goes.. well the more acceptance the better, we'll see what impact it has on the market.

I do not like Thomas's tone of speech. He should just talk without any antics. Yes, it is very informative... but I fall asleep

after the first 10 minutes. I hope Vietnam will follow the same route as Japan... just leave the damn thing to grow on it's

China is very skeptical about bitcoin and I wonder how China let Vietnam to legalize bitcoin. This is interesting. I don't think this will bring a momentum to bitcoin price, because Vietnam is not an influential country such as Japan or Chinese. But this is positve for bitcoin adoption anyways.

This is what I don't understand with governments. There is a lot of cash to grab from Bitcoin, so why not accept it? Especially when a lot of them are claiming they don't have enough money and need to reduce budget for education and others or need to invent some new taxes which are sometimes just funny. Or worst, giving advantages to the big firms so they pay less but the population pay more...and get less...

Is Russia anti-Bitcoin? I thought they were encouraging mining to utilise the cheap electricity that they have there.

Russia was never "anti-Bitcoin". they have always looked at it wrong and wanted to make it illegal but never did. until this year when Japan legalized bitcoin, they changed their stance and officially said we have no issue with bitcoin.
i believe it was their head of central bank who said "...bitcoin can be traced..." and put all their concerns about illegal activity to rest.

Vietnam cannot be compared to China and Russia in terms of influence and power, much less economy. But in terms of their socialist leanings, Vietnam, Russia, and Vietnam are basically similar. I hope this move will be a model for other countries that are still in dilemma as to whether to open their doors to bitcoin or not. Opening up for Bitcoin is like opening to the world of possibilities.  

Because they don't know Bitcoin and also because they are scared from something that can't be controlled.
But more countries will accept and more countries will follow... good job Vietnam! ;D

This is another great news coming at this time to even settle the dust for a while by giving us something to rejoice over in the face of all this difficulty around here and confusion generally in the crypto world. I am hopeful that other countries can follow suit so that we will all rejoice at the end of the day.

I heard about it in news recently. Vietnam has been facing financial issues, so now the public has started to use Bitcoin as a currency.good for the community

With bitcoin legalization in Vietnam certainly gives a positive signal for the development of bitcoin in southeast asia,
and of course will bring good change to the country as well as its users both in vietnam and those in various countries.

Maybe not now, but in near future Vietnam will surely legalize bitcoin. Not only Vietnam, but all  the countries will bound to make it legalize and it will be only because of people demand. Legalization is a must for mainstream adoption, but we have to see also how restrictive will be it regulation.

Strange that Vietnam has decided to now make a move and that will extend to next year but while it's a good move, and this shall give a boost for Bitcoins, it will be interesting to see what kind of regulations do they apply. Will they have a ease way of doing business or will they imply lot of restrictions, I hope other countries follow suit, but I fear soon we shall not have a free bitcoins world.

This is good stuff man. The more legitimacy BTC gains around the globe, the more it will grow. It will become more stable as a result, thus making it more practical.

Now it is starting many countries that will legalize bitcoin because of the many transactions that occur. I think the government will also take advantage of it all.

News like this are those I want to always see in the forum but at the same time, the implementation is what mattered rather than this proposal as I see its not happening any time soon until 2018. I hope to see this come into fruition eventually and see the effect its going to have on the crypto space in general. But at the same time one should be mindful because decisions can change anytime with recourse to those who relied on it.

Great news, more demand of Bitcoin from Vietnam and then we grow in value and investment. IT couldn't get better than this. Whether it will be effective 2018 or now it is still commendable and it's going to impact our wallets.

That is a great news. I can see a wonderful opening of 2018. More and more countries are starting to review Bitcoin and eventually accepts it as a method of payment. This is great news. It is legal here in the Philippines. I'm not sure about other ASEAN members but I definitely haven't heard it being banned by any of our neighbors. One more member legalizing it would hopefully encourage the others to join in.

I'd like to be more hopeful. Maybe once all members have it legalized, the bloc would have a body overseeing the exchanges to reduce the likelihood of theft. It would be nice if exchanges within the bloc have some sort of arrangement to reduce transfer time between them and reduce fees as well.

I just want to ask if this is true or not. As far as I know, btc is far from familiar to the people and only one ATM station btc but not the government. But if this is a reliable source, it's really very happy.

It is not surprising that Vietnam began legalizing BItcoin, as Vietnam has begun using Bitcoin and has worked with Bitcoin agents and Israeli exchange since 2014, and many other small businesses in Vietnam have received payments with Bitcoin, possibly with this news going to many other countries in Asia which will follow in the footsteps of Vietnam.

The economy of Vietnam is not a strong one like that of Japan or China and hence doesn't have any significant impact on the rest of the world trade, business etc but it's recognizing and then planning to legalize bitcoin is a decision which must be welcomed as this is going to make bitcoin's presence wider and this adds to the over all growth of cryptocurrencies. It's really a good news in that sense.

no, they are not. I have a Vietnamese friend and he said that the situation is not the same as you guy think. Everything the government wants is the money. They want to control bitcoin so that they can collect tax and people's money. In Vietnam, more than half of the population dislike the government.

And this is definitely not a good way to go about this. So apparently the government is just busy thinking about herself than the masses. Obviously, the leaders are trying to play some selfish game for their own pockets. I won't blame the masses if they totally dislike their government as you said.

Its a good thing that Vietnam finally legalized bitcoin. It won't be long enough until other countries follow this decision.  Governments should realize that bitcoin is becoming stronger and that they should participate in this. They should also realize that there is income in bitcoin for their country.

This is one key thing every country will still come to accept and those who are going on the negative in the case of bitcoin, are just living in self denial which I know won't last for long if they are prepared to feature in the future of money because so far they cannot stop civilisation and the quest for freedom, ignoring bitcoin or against it won't last long and will equally not hold for a long time. Its better they take the route Vietnam is taking and design a master plan or road map for such.

I think with regulation always comes the line what's-in-it-for-them question? For as long as the government can squeeze something from anything, they would do so. Bitcoin should be no exception for them seeing how the growth and the opportunities to make money has been very evident. But it is good that they are not thinking backwards with regard to crypto currencies, because that is where the future of money would go.

Finally, Vietnamese government is paying attention towards digital currencies. I have heard that it would be legalized by 2018 and for the time being, Ministry of Justices and State Bank of Vietnam is just going through the pros and cons of all digital assets. Obviously, main focus will be Bitcoins.

Every country was skeptical about bitcoin when it started and after learning about the technological aspect they could not neglect the revolution behind it and it is good to see that all of the Asian markets are legalizing bitcoin one way or the other and i think only Bangladesh is the only Asian country that banned bitcoin and i am not sure when they will be learning about it. ::)

Yep. But in Vietnam the number of bitcoin owner is still little and most of them don't know any other way to earn bitcoin except invest in HYIP or waste their time with faucet site. I'm being in Vietnam too, I've invited some of my friend to join this forum, at the begin they'r very excited but when I told them that they need good English skill all of them don't wanna join anymore :)))

Another great achievement for bitcoin history. If this country's economy will rise again after legalizing the bitcoin other country will follow the same, we will just see and watch for the result but we are expecting positive result of this of course. As we expected before more and more nations are adopting bitcoin after the great successes soon all nations in the world will legalize it and replacing paper money.

Great start for Vietnam! I know there are many friends who are here from Vietnam. It is also a good way for bitcoin as more countries are joining  to legalize it. Also, for us bitcoiner holder, its a welcome news since  bitcoin is now legally accepted in bitcoin, meaning no hassle when you are in vacation  there.

It's good to hear or read that message that Vietnam is now accepting bitcoin. I wish that bitcoin should be accepted to my country to make our economy became progressive. I hope that my country will do what Vietnam do with bitcoin.

This is an inevitable thing to happen for countries who have made Bitcoin illegal, the good thing about this is their government saw the potential of Bitcoin that it will bring to them from tourist paying Bitcoin to even local exchanges making profit it can boost their economy if things went well to Bitcoin. Also if these continue more and more countries will support Bitcoin in the process, it will be good for the demand and price of Bitcoin.

I think this will help bitcoin to bounce back even a little from the downward trend that happened with bitcoin's price after the Chinese government has banned the ICO market and cryptocurrencies. This is good news and hope it will be implemented sooner or later so that the issue on Chinas banning the ICO will be replaced by a good news. If this will be implemented this September then we can see bitcoin again spiking up towards 5000 $.  Hope other countries will adopt bitcoin even if there are regulations being placed the most important thing is that it is adopted and used.

In a few years time, the status of Bitcoin legality in Vietnam has changed from first hostile to contentious, and then from contentious to permissive. I am glad with this change, as Vietnam is one of the more populous nations in the south-east Asian region.

Yes, the news seems similar which those countries "plans to", better than nothing. But, I will be happy if the news said "finally legalize cryptocurrencies", just like Japan government legalized bitcoin as legal payment.

Eventually almost all major cities will accept bitcoin, for it is sought many of their citizens, and money behind it is incredibly huge, not on the level of stock-market  but it is still huge. Aside from the monetary value of it ,the fact that is can change (actually it is changing right now) the monetary system of the world is enough reason to stay behind it than fighting or against it. Many third world countries benefit from the arbitrage that they get when it comes to the exchange rate, 0.05 btc can be of a great value when it is turn into their local fiat. Hopefully the future of our Bitcoin will be bright for us to be free from the shackles that bind us from the very beginning.

I don’t know why I’m coming across posts about governments legalizing bitcoin. When a virtual currency (bitcoin) starts being regulated, then I don’t think it should be called a virtual currency any longer. So, Vietnam government wants to implement regulations for bitcoin? Man, that’s no longer bitcoin.

It is really good news that another country have been legalized and accepted the bitcoin. I hope that this following years the bitcoin will become more popular and all of the government will accept it.

You maybe right on your reason, but it can still give impact anyway to make the price value of bitcoin get high. And we shouldn't under estimate one country because we don't know what they can do. Who knows most of their citizens are already a bitcoin enthusiast than the other country which popular but only few of their citizens are bitcoin believers, something like that mate.

This really a good news , but here we can't say surily that it is going to regulate or legalise because I didn't find any information from offical website , only found some news at the forum and bitcoin related websites for news .
Well herr the condition is going about same for most of the countries because about 5-6 countries are in my view who are not officially saying that bitcoin is going to ban regulate or legalise , only news cames indirectly from media to media platforms .
Well here the condition is also same in India that is my country and also here the people are using bitcoin more after such types of the news when we get in our country .
So here my suggestion for everyone to spread the news about the bitcoin in the market social media and another paltfroms also that will make you connected to each other and no negetive impact but positive impact will out on the mind and people don't exit this field .
Because sometimes after the news of ban or anything like ban about bitcoin gaves the - ve market for the bitcoin and also for the another high potential cryptocurrency .

Yes Vietnam is going to approve btc like a legal way of payments.Most vietnamise are using btc to tranfer money,thay easy withdrawn from atm what are around any corner,and vietnamise dont trust banks at all

If so, this is good news for Vietnam and bitcoin holders. Nations that embrace rather than shun new technologies will find themselves at a competitive advantage. It's about time more nations recognize bitcoin as a legitimate currency.

This is good news, not only for us bitcoiners, but for Vietnam itself, it only shows you that east are trying to struggle to be superpowers as well. We should check the geopolitics here as well, the west wants those countries that they had colonized before to suffer until now, because they want to show to each other and to the rest of the world that they are powerful, but they can't do it with some countries in the middle east. Those countries in Asia that had legalized bitcoin has a very low value of their fiat, compared to other western fiat money, now that they have bitcoin, it only means they can now go toe to toe with any other country, since they can now use bitcoin as means of transactions.

vitanamese is the best place where a lot of facilities are invented now in the bitcoin forum so in my country bitcoin is being legalize one of my face book friend is from Vietnamese she told me that bitcoin is now legalized in the country and I became very happy I wish it happens here so that the price of the bitcoin will increase with the legalization.

Good Move. This may neutralize what may have happened to China's banning ICO with regards to news affecting the value of BTC. Legalize means a lot to users wherein there will be a gain on BTC users in Vietnam in turn affecting positively the Global Market. Great piece of news coming from Vietnam, I really think more countries are going to follow suite as the Bitcoin awareness is spread around the world. The more countries that start to accept bitcoin and learn about what it can do for their economies, the more likely bitcoin will become an international currency. It not not too well known, and japan has almost 50% share of all bitcoin trading. United States has only about 13%. The more adoption that takes place internationally, the more well known it will become in the states.

While other countries are banning and closing cryptocurrency exchanges, Vietnam is opening their market on cryptocurrency. Asean countries are aggressively  embracing this blockchain technology willingly.Good to them.

good to hear mate, welcome to the world of bitcoin, at first, all country are being skeptical from being involve in bitcoin, but sooner if they study and learn all about bitcoin they know how its work, they will change their mind and get to accept this opportunity that every one on their country can have in this bitcoin. I mean theres a lot of use this bitcoin, including the main purpose is to invest on it to have/get/gain profits soon.

Great to see more countries opening their eyes to the possibilities of crypto. At the same time though, countries acknowledging the value seems in a big part to be to increase taxation, which is counter to what I feel are some of the core reasons for using Bitcoin. I'm torn between the possibilities for boosts in value, and the overregulation of something meant to be decentralised.

More countries will legalize it than to ban it, when China bans it ,no country follows it since they see no point on banning it. Vietnam and other Asian countries will soon to announce its legalizing.

I can agree that it could be partly due to this news and the people of Vietnam are going to benefit greatly from this. I thought it will take at least a year before other countries follow Japan but I think I was wrong and they are just replicating Japan rather quickly and it speaks well for us.

this is so funny poor country like vietnam with low standard of living and high unemployment rate is legalizing what seems to be helping some poor people. I dont know what is wrong with this government. they are so corrupt and gullible. they dont want anything that will not benefit their pocket in any way. upon all the bad influence like drug abuse,rape etc. that need serious regulation. they abandon this and want to legalize BTC. what a useless government.
