Happy to announce that most Batch 2 Pre-orders have now been shipped out, and all worldwide distributors finally have stock! You can now buy a Moonlander 2 from any of my distributors for nearly same day shipping!

UPDATE 1/16/18

Batch 2 units are currently almost finished production, and pre-order units are now being shipped to Distributors. You guys that placed early pre-orders should start seeing your units being shipped next week!

Batch 2 in stock units should start showing up on Distributors websites by the end of the month for everyone that missed the pre-order.

Batch 2 pre-order is now sold out! Production for Batch 2 is still on schedule and deliveries will be beginning end of January and into February. If you missed batch 2 pre-order, Batch 2 in stock units will be available end of the month.

Batch 2 Pre-order will start December 6th at 12 PM EST. This batch is larger and more distributors have been added so anyone that didn't have a chance to pick up a pre-order last batch should be fine this time around.

I have enough stock to handle a couple hundred additional sales, but I cant ship 1 or 2 to individuals internationally...It does not make sense shipping wise (will cost over 20 USD in just shipping for one unit). I suggest people looking for 1 or two sticks to form group buys by trusted members in your respective region subforums, and have the group buy leader contact me with final numbers. UPDATE 12/1/17

As of today, all pre-orders have been shipped out!

Thanks to everyone that participated in the pre-order and made this an awesome success! Special shout out to all my amazing distributors that were able to ship out hundreds of orders within just a few days (even with thanksgiving holiday weekend!).

Holybitcoin, Asicpuppy, and bitshopper.de have in stock units listed (or will soon) for people that want to pick up Batch 1 units that are in stock (price is higher than pre-order though).

Im organizing Batch 2 as well and will have an announcement on that soon.

UPDATE 10/27/17

Main ASIC order has been delivered, and ramp up in production is scheduled to start next week. Pre-order units will start shipping next week/second week of nov.

For people asking: Distributors will have in stock units once they ship out all the pre-orders, I have produced more than pre-order units so you will still be able to buy batch 1 if you missed the pre-order. Keep in mind these units will most likely sell for more than the pre-order prices since they will ship immediately.

Ended up ordering from asic puppy in USA because holycoin doesn't take credit cards. If you order qty 4 from asic puppy you can select USPS first class which is less than $4.

This is kind of why I asked if priority will be given to small orders first. Ten seems like a reasonable cut off. If you really want as many people to use this without inflated retail cost then low quantity ordered would achieve that.

Yea the issue is fixed now, if upped the allotment for all the distributors and they are limiting orders to under 10, so everyone that wants one at pre-order price has a chance to get one. I doubt stock will last past the weekend though.

Thank you. You saved me from a pissed off at litecoin rant. I'm new to mining (kind of) and wrote a long post about how it was a catch 22 that holybitcoin doesn't accept payment in debit cards, paypal, etc but only in cryptocurrency but the purpose of this is to get more people into cryptocurrency so how am I supposed to have some if i've never done it?

And then I went on about all the excruciating hurdles I went through to get a wallet, mine and try to buy litecoin. You would of laughed probably at my bad luck and the lack of regulation in cryptocurrency.

And then I hit post in confidence that I was right and it was informative and at the same time concerning and comical and then the website is like "warning there have been X replies since you started typing this. Maybe you should read them" and I read you say "I tried the other guy" so I decided "nevermind" and erased my post.

I'm now the lucky owner of two preorders via PayPal.

I'm a good customer. I don't know why a vendor would be scared of PayPal. I rarely return things. If I buy something cheap I know I'm taking a chance it will fail, I'm not going to ask for a refund, my fault. If the thing is faulty I ask for another one and return it and explain what I tried honestly.

Finally I decide after last try, this thing aint coming off, I'm not a p***y there must be some other reason I can't get access to this soap cannister. I turn it around and start playing with the dial and pull up on it. THE F'N DIAL COMES Off AND THAT'S WHERE YOU POUR THE SOAP IN! THAT'S TOTALLY UNINTUITIVE! You don't pour gasoline down your keyhole in your car, you don't open the buttons on your dishwasher and pour soap inside, the user interface is almost never the same place you pour the active chemical ingredient. But I'm not going to return it. I might mention it in a review. I might deduct a star for it but not if it performs well.

The main issue with PayPal payments for this pre-order is that PayPal requires shipping within 21 days. I can't fault my distributors for not wanting to risk PayPal funds this way, since they are paying me upfront before i start production.

And sadly even though you might be an honest customer, there are scammers everywhere in crypto, so doing large pre-orders like the we have to be a bit cautious. Either way I'm glad you picked up some, and welcome to the crypto family. New people like you in crypto is exactly why I built this miner for  :)

i Just tried order a few through Asicpuppy but because BTC didnt get there in time, the payment window expired and order canceled.  Support page for Asic puppy seems to have errors.  Probably too late to ask this but are they a legitimate company?  Need to find a way to contact them but considering its a 3 day weekend, i might be out of luck until mid week..  /sigh.

Also keep in mind that my distributors ordered more units than allowed for pre-order, so once these start shipping they will have stock again sometime in November (after all the pre-orders are shipped out first). So you still have a chance to pick one up.

Hi guys, I have a maybe stupid question. Suppose you are buying 10 of them, then it is $590. Generally you can buy two rx 570 for this price at newegg and ROI is like 6 month if you mine eth or zcash. However, if you use this stick to mine litecoin, the ROI will be like one year. i upgraded my older PC while ago with an USB 3.0 addon card - 4 ports.

This is powered with a molex connector from within my pc power supply (plenty of power).

will this be enough to power the device?
it will minimum deliver 0.9A .. or even more

Guys please be careful with PMs and double check who is PMing you. There is an impostor going around on the forum that has a slightly misspelled version of my username, and asking for paypal payments to ship you moonlanders.

These guys always pop out with sales like this(they did it on my version 1 as well), so double check who is PMing you (and I only ask for crypto payments, DONT take paypal).

These USB miners are very nice to keep alive blockchains of old altcoins, instead of using very power hungry gpus

Have you thought of creating a waiting list?  No matter where you go asic miners get snatched up in minutes, would be nice to get on a list and sit back while you wait for it to get produced.

I don't think any of the folks that are selling X11 miners are selling bare chips at all.

There is a company in Japan called GMO that's making a 7 nm mining chip. Are you going to use that for version 3?

Expected release date in the EU will be November 2017. Guess asic puppy will be around that date also.

Guys please at least read the first post before asking basic questions. No one will receive anything until end of October at the earliest. And thats if ASICs actually get delivered on time and production goes smoothly. At that point my distributors will get the first moonlanders, and they will ship to you in the order of payments. If you weren't one of the first to place an order I would not expect anything until November.

With that being said, all major components are ordered, PCBs are being fabricated, and ASICs are still on schedule for mid-october delivery. So I don't foresee any delays at this point.

I am still looking for a reputable member/reseller in the Asia region that would be interested in bulk distributing these in that region. At minimum you would need to have some sort of e-commerce store up, be able to accept crypto payments, and have some sort of verifiable seller reputation. I have had hundreds of PMs from members in these areas, but I'm unfortunately swamped right now and can't service small orders for Asian countries.

Shoot me a PM if your interested for future batches (I have a couple dozen units from this batch I can reallocate as a "test" run).

I’ve quite a specific question hopefully someone can answer!

I have an rpi set up to run my single avalon 741 miner - could I also plug in a Moonlander 2 usb miner into the rpi and use that to power it?

If so, it would be great to dual mine!

This might work, but it could be complicated to setup. The easiest would be to get a separate Pi for the Moonlanders.

If you really want to make it work, you'd have to run your own version of cgminer for the Avalon and then some other mining program for the Moonlander in a different screen session. Not sure if the Pi has enough RAM to make it work.

I also read you can squeeze out some zRam if you overclock the rpi correctly, although I must admit I’m only going off what I can find off google!

Yea you could do this with no problem...ill be providing bfgminer binaries for all major OSes and ARM builds for pi's. You can just point bfgminer to nicehash pool and mine with this on there.

Cool! It’s a really good idea to invest on devices that’ll help in bitcoin mining. Just imagine in the future, there would be many competitors and you’ll have a hard time. Luckily, you invested on a device that’ll make you stand out among others.

Antminer l3 would do that... I don't think 5 mega hash will really make a dent when you have devices that do 500 mega hash and more.

Sorry for the lack of updates past week or so, have been busy sorting out production hiccups that caused about a week delay (was hoping to have bulk of these assembled last week, but ramping up production this week). Long story short had some issues with PCBs from china that were delayed, and then ran into an issue with USB connectors coming out crooked from reflow so had to created a specialized jig to hold them in place.

FYI the first units have already shipped to the very first pre-orders, and bulk of stock is being shipped out to main distributors right now and early next week. They will list in stock units soon for people that missed pre-order, and they will be shipping out the rest of the pre-order units probably by end of next week. So do not keep harassing them about when youll get your stick, it will be soon! (keep in mind next week is thanksgiving holiday in USA so HolyBitcoin and AsicPuppy might not get all the units shipped out next week.

If you dont want to pay in stock price, next pre-order will most likely start end of the month for shipping in January probably (this is all very tentative).

Hey guys.  I'm looking to pick up 2-4 of these if anyone has a few to spare.

it took me over 10 minutes during a meeting to buy two landers from bitshopper.de on my phone. I had multiple errors and loading problems but in the end i managed to have 2 in my cart.

Looks like asiicpuppy has these listing again.  Limited to 1 per order.

My first BTC payment... Kinda cool but the fee?!?!  Not Asics fault I know.

All distributors knew ahead of time they would be getting parts, and it was up to them if they wanted to ship them out in "kit" form or fully assembled. They were under no obligated to assembled them, since pre-order price was cheap and end customers should be fine with the 5 minutes it would take to assemble these. If i was going to assemble every order you guys would be waiting for your sticks for another month (or would have cost at least and extra $10 per stick to have a team of assemblers).

As a sidenote im a little discouraged by all the negative comments directed at my US distributors for "late" shipments. I never promised anything other than up to Mid Nov for shipments to my distributors, which is when shipments did start. All shipments were done within a 2 week time frame in the middle of our thanksgiving holiday here, and all of you guys have your pre-orders in hand or in carrier hands right now. (not to mention that I personally know most the you guys complaining are reselling these at 2x markup).

I'm super ok to do little assembling to use my miner.

jstefanop, you're absolutely awesome! I pre-ordered a single kit back way back when from AsicPuppy.

I got it on Saturday (I didn't get a shipment notification, but when I emailed AsicPuppy, they sent me a tracking code. But it was already delivered! Fine by me!) and have it hashing away right now using a Raspbery Pi 2 connected to the Pluggable 2.0 USB hub that was recommended in the Hub thread.

I'm pointing it at multipool.us because I want to collect all the different coins they mine (I may look into even smaller scrypt coins just for fun!). I know I will probably never make back the money, but I've spent far more money on hobbies I ended up not liking.

jstefanop, your dedication and support to this product is amazing. I hope you don't get discouraged from a small minority of people complaining. They probably never designed, built, tested and shipped a complete electronic device before. So what do they know?

Quick update for you guys.

Batch 1 Stock has been sold out everywhere (including the in stock units distributors received separate from the pre-orders). Batch 2 Pre-orders are near sold out and will probably be officially closing it out this weekend.

Its also been brought to my attention that some of you are trying to get refunds from pre-orders due to LTC's recent price rise. Please keep in mind that all pre-orders are final. I don't do pre-orders because I want to collect all your LTC and profit. All my distributors, and especially myself operate on very slim margins, I don't have enough cash on hand to finance additional batches that require large sums of upfront cash for parts and ASIC purchases, hence the pre-order. 

All pre-order crypto funds are cashed out DAILY by my distributors to fund this endeavor, so there are absolutely no refunds, and are not even possible even if i wanted too since the bulk of those funds are in supply chain's banks already. Im sure most of you guys that sold your LTC in the 100's are not going to exchanges and asking for a refund, just like you wouldn't expect us to start asking more money for your pre-order if LTC price goes down  :P

PLEASE do not place a pre-order if your not comfortable with this, and wait until batch 2 in stock units to arrive (which will cost significantly more than pre-order units).

On the flip side a BIG THANKS to everyone that placed a Batch 2 pre-order and will allow an additional wave of moonlanders to spread around the world and decentralize LTC's blockchain!

You can buy from wherever you want if they do international shipping, but the point of distributors is to keep cost to end customers low. Keep in mind that there will be more stock end of January if you missed Batch 2 pre-order.

Yea we realized most of Batch 2 customers are brand new to crypto, so trying to set up cash payments. Unfortunately most cash processors have strict limits on pre-orders, so can't really take cash until units are in distributor hands next month. Keep an out in a few weeks.

What is the benefit of these things?  In all seriousness, the larger ASICs are far more cost effective than these.

I think you are correct on the cost effectiveness, however these are cheap.  For a newb it is a way to dip your toe in, learn about mining.  Possibly have a little faucet.  Buying an L3+ for example, is a big endeavour.  More cost effective for sure, but it really is a big ticket item.

I think these will pay themselves off, and after I break even well, that is a bonus.  Over time Litecoin will go up, and I think I can make some $$.  I'm not depending on it though.  I'm just shooting to break even and learn something in the process.

Ordered a couple from Holybitcoin, and while I see the order as processing in my account on the site, I never received an email. Just wanted to see if this was the norm before I bothered them with an email.

As someone who is fairly new to all of this, I actually thought the order process was pretty straightforward, even with them only accepting coins as payment. The only coins I had were dogecoins though, so I had to pay a bit extra to have flyp.me convert them to dash. But overall it was pretty easy.

Count me as another one wanting to buy with fiat only to miss out on the preorder. And there's no way I'm paying 2x on the 3rd party market just to play with one. Oh well, maybe some will pop up with distributors when they start shipping, like with the first batch.

Batch 2 pre-order is now sold out! Production for Batch 2 is still on schedule and deliveries will be beginning end of January and into February. If you missed batch 2 pre-order, Batch 2 in stock units will be available end of January.

I purchased 5 of the Moonlander 2's from Holybitcoin last batch and they processed
and shipped out very fast, 1 week to Canada, no problems would deal with again.

Sorry for the maybe stupid question but is there a chance to get the Moonlander 2 anywhere? If only as pre-order? I understand that from Germany I'm ought to buy at bitshopper but there it is announced as sold out only without chance to pre-order if I didn't miss anything. If it was available there it is sold for EUR 84,95 that is noticeably more expensive compared with the prices in USD at the other distributors but I think with shipment costs to Europe plus VAT and customs it isn't cheaper from anywhere else. So I would appreciate any hint where I could (pre-)order, I wanted to buy 5 pcs.

What's with all these miners being so heavily marked up on ebay.com ?

Always happens - its a conjunction of ebays fee's and noobs who dont know where to source hardware for the correct price.

1) Sellers have to take a risk effects. For example if 25% of buyers scam the sellers then they have to increase the price more than 25%.
So if they sell $10,000 worth of hardware for $13,000 and they lose $1000 on scams then they still profit.

2) Because of this very few people risk and sell for PayPal. This reduces supply and the price is increased out of speculation.
People who want to buy have fewer options and have to pay more for it.

better to trade here, but use a reputable escrow provider - there are many options to choose from which some even being free

Obviously in terms of FutureBit Moonlander are least there are reputable distributers from different parts of the world

It's supply and demand.

Supply for these units is low, demand is high as people discover them. There is definitely the "Ebay factor" which is people new to mining and they don't understand value of a miner (not just the MLD2) or understand how mining works.

To me these have value to a point and I have paid a bit more than their "pre-order" price to get some early to get started doing what I want to do.

Anyone know if you can buy these unassembled?  last time I bought one from asicpuppy, they came assembled.  I actually would like to do the next few myself and the directions at the top of the thread are quite good imho.

Sorry guys, once batch 2 stock hits at the end of the month there will be plenty of stock for lower pricing than what these are going off ebay. Unfortunately demand is still high so in stock units have to be priced accordingly (somewhere between pre-order pricing and ebay pricing).

We needed at least two batches to gauge demand, so going forward I should be able to have a steady output to meet demand each month. We might do one more pre-sale batch 3, but after that it will be steady production.

I just tried to order a couple from asicpuppy, and I keep getting gateway timeout when it tries to send me to the payment processor. Wondering if anyone else is having this problem. Now I need to look into USB hubs. I've got an old netbook gathering dust and I believe it should be able to run these, but I don't think the onboard ports could provide enough power.

By the time I bought some bitcoin from localbitcoins the moonlander 2 was sold out on ASICPuppy. Just my luck!

No incentive for the shop owners if a pre-sale starts before they sell out.

 

No plans currently, Batch 2 will start shipping out to Distributors next week, and we have LOTS of inventory. Once Batch 2 pre-orders are shipped out you will start seeing in stock units listed towards the end of the month from all my distributors.

At this point going forward I will have enough channel inventory and steady production to keep these stocked everywhere. I might do one more pre-order batch 3 only because there will be a month gap in february due to the chinese holiday and the parts I source from china wont be available until March.

Is it possible to get what the market price will be from the distributors?   Amazon a few weeks ago had them listed for 160 a piece, I think now one person is trying to get $200 a piece.  Ebay your looking at around $200 also "Buy Now".  If I'm correct preorder was around $67. I read in this thread the price will be somewhere in between.  I have been saving my change, would be nice to know what we can expect on the market.  I would assume a fair price to be around $85 - 90.  If I'm off just say higher or lower.. Because I have no idea really.

The price should stay the same at $64 or it may potentially drop with the difficulty increase since launch. The prices you are talking about are not from distributors they are from people on selling them for 200%+ profit

Batch 2 pre-order price was $64, Batch 2 MSRP price that I am setting with my Distributors is $79. Thats a suggested price, I can't really force them to sell lower if the market demand is there to sell them higher. I am trying to make as many as possible to saturate demand, but the reality is people want these and will pay extra for them.

I never had unit in hand, still waiting for my pre-orders, but what I know from previous experience (with FPGA units for example), fans like these are failing often. They are cheap and manufactured quickly without caring about quality. Find yourself same size replacement, or use cheap USB fan, which would just blow on unit next to it. Just browse your favourite marketplace and have a look for replacement fans, I think they are 40mm in size?

Im sorry you are expecting to pay the same price as the people waiting 2 months for these. I could easily set the MSRP at 149, and they would still sell out but Im not, because this project was founded on getting a cheap miner in the hands of as many people as possible, which is what we are doing.

Well tomorrow will be the 30th and Eyeboot is advertising no shipping delay on MLD2's but I still don't have tracking for my order. Curious to see if I'll have one tomorrow, I'm sure they have a lot to ship out.

I ordered 3 from him December 6th, so far nothing. The website isn't being updated and still pops up a notice about the presale in December. At the same time I see lots of them on amazon.de for twice the price, so I suspect one or two people are buying up his entire stock and scalping them.

Yes they will have lots of stock available starting this week, most distributors are still busy shipping out pre-orders. Bitshopper sticks are shipped out in a nice aluminum case.

I am new to the forums (been lurking a year), pretty new to mining, with a passionate interest in computer hardware in general and mining hardware - thank you for doing what you're doing and keeping the price low.  It's inspirational to see - you're 100% right you can make them cost 149 and they'd still sell out-  especially w/ the mining craze that seems to heighten more and more each time prices rise - I haven't ordered one of your devices yet, but I'm looking to ... even if not for profit, extremely interesting and exciting.

And who knows, long run, they most likely will be profit

Also exciting for the tech in general, something beside GPU mining (i'm still trying to understand more about what's under the hood of the [Suspicious link removed]putations in creating crypto, and how hashpower is created in general by GPUs and even by something like a USB stick, or storage space), but devices like yours help grow the competitive landscape of crypto mining, help make it accessible, help grow the tech.  Although I've just entered the rabbit hole and took the red pill a year ago, I'm well versed in computer technology and work in a tech related field.  I do believe there must be even more efficient ways of mining and obtaining energy in a more cost effective manner. I strongly believe you're contributing to that future.

I entered BTC ASIC mining after BTC crashed from $1k and was at $200 each - People were selling rigs by the "pallets"....   

I harvested in 3Q17, came short of a lambo by a lot so I and opted for rack of GPUs (3Q17) and a couple ML2s (4Q17)...

Learning a heck of a lot about Scrypt, that's for sure!

I have 8 moonlander pointed at a solo ltc and Doge pool.  Every single ltc and doge block made I could hit.

I have a paid for pc with a paid for gpu in it.

The gpu earns 1 dollar a day.. this cover all my power costs for the pc the gpu and running these sticks  with 30 to 40 cents in my pocket.

So if I never hit the solo blocks   in 1500 days I will break even.   And for the entire time  I supported a small  gpu pool a small ltc pool a small doge pool and the builder of these sticks..


I make plenty of money on other mining projects  that  I do this for shits and giggles.  I also do this with sidehacks sticks.

If you can afford to it you should  if you cant  afford it you should leave the thread alone.

Nothing strange about it. Europe demand is through the rough and he is listing his in stock units as soon as they are assembled and ready to ship out in batches of 50 or 100. They just sell out within a day or two. All orders currently are in stock units, we don't take payments for units not in stock unless it is explicitly stated by my distributors and myself that its for a pre-order.

I wonder if buyers understand that your sticks are using a modern chip and actually run using less power cost then the coins earned cost.
Thus they are in high demand.  I still run my eight 24/7/365 sans fans. I run solo looking for that block.

And I use my own external fans. I may do an order for more I will decide later this month.

Anyone knows the bitcointalk account name of the guy that runs bitshopper? I had an issue with the shipping company (DPD) and they return my parcel with the miners back. I tried to contact bitshopper through phone and email but I get no response.

That may be so, however bitshopper seems to have a looooong processing time for items in stock. I ordered last week and the items are still processing. Ordered from eyeboot and they mailed the package within two days.

The problem with bitshopper‘s long processing time and the frequent stock outages is as follows:

We use Amazon as a fulfilment provider for 28 European countries, thus we shipped most of our stock to Amazon warehouses. Several Amazon warehouses have been on strike and they now have a huge backlog in booking seller  stock. Several hundred units are currently locked due to this mess. As soon as they finish their backlog and redistribution, stock at our webshop will get activated as well. I expect full stock availability beginning of next week maybe earlier.

Customers who ordered last week with an announced lead time of ten days will get their delivery at first.

Sorry for the inconveniences this may cause, we filed already a complaint but you can imagine that such a complaint affects Amazon only peripherally.

There was no such announcement on your website. You shouldn't have listed the item as in stock and accepted orders and the payment as well. It's not acceptable to pay full price and end up as a sort of preorder.

Cant really know ahead of time for issues like this, otherwise Im sure he would have made an announcement. Not his fault amazon is having issues in Europe. Either way previous two pre-orders were a 2 month wait, 10 days is not a pre-order :p

I just want to say, I was very early on the 2nd preorder and got my Moonlanders last Sat (earlier than quoted delivery date) in Amazon packaging - that surprised me.

I understand it's out of their hands and depend on an external service provider. I can resonate with the situation when the big supplyer screws the small shop operator. However, there was no announcement of a lead time, as they claim, and it was here the first time a saw there is a lead time. No point in claiming they have notified the customers, when they have not.

They should explain clearly the situation and take responsability for what their responsability is: listing the item in stock when they knew there were supply chain problems.

I have very bad experience with Sipolar 10-port. I have had 3 units go back in a matter of months. The power plug tip and the receptacle goes bad. This is a common issue, so this is a manufacturing defect that Sipolar will not address. They just tell you they will give $10 refund and you can buy another power plug. Shipping it back to China is half the cost of the unit, so it is never worth it to get a warranty replacement.

I have one, they're awesome sticks.  Mine does 4.5MH/s consistently without issues.  I can't see well enough to tweak and hit the sweet spot to try and get 5MH/s + though.  Not even sure if I have the tools...

Are these just for hobbyists? Based on the stats of 5 mh/s and 10 watts of power - this might profit $2 in a year on litecoin.  maybe there are more profitable coins to mine with it? I only dabble in a few alt coins, mainly LTC so I always use it as a comparison.

yes its the entry level hobbyist miner...it can be used for solo mining as a lotto device or just as a learning tool for beginner.
