I bought ripple just few month ago and miss this x20. Anyway still hope it have potential!

But I read somewhere that XRP is not decentralised?  ??? I thought the whole point of BTC is decentralisation
Also, is it true that the inventors have a lot of XRP in their hands which they can release anytime?
Could someone kindly shed some light?

I thought the whole power about BTC and many crypto is that - it's decentralised?

To be honest, it's quite tempting to buy some XRP because the per unit price is low... but I just worry it is not going anywhere anytime soon.

I think Ripple is gonna be huge in the future with all the banks coming on board and them having a legitimate business with hundreds of employees.

At the same time, I bought xrp when it was 20k satoshi. It's dropped to 4k satoshi

Is that a safe investment? No it's not. But I believe in the tech and the work being done. It will recover, price is not the sole determinant of success. Once it goes mainstream I'll be happy I got it for 20k satoshi

And how about huge premine of authors of ripple and centralization? Yes, their have deals with banks and I respect this, but I'm afraid of concentrating this big share of tokens in one hands

As the thread title it's good to have XRP as one among the best platform for safe Haven of crypto assets. The reason is that with the quoted coin has given an stable profit with price most of the time staying over the growth side. Recently deeponion pumped and got crashed in a short for which we cannot indicate useless.

With this logic, can any promising cryptocurrency is considered a safe haven. Including LTC, ETH and DSH .

Despite this, the popularity of this currency can grow very much. I think this is a very promising coin. I'm ready to keep her for a few years. It seems to me that the price of this coin will be 1000 dollars in a few years.

XRP is quite the opposite actually, lol. I'd recommend you stay away from it, even it you're focus on daytrading it for a profit only. You won't miss out on anything but bagholding and losses :P

And you could argue their position? xrp closely cooperates with the international banks and saves them a lot of profit (about 80% if I'm not mistaken) and this is only the beginning. It is waiting for more future.

ripple will never be the next gold. Ripple is just fiat on a blockchain. It's centralized, and they can issue as many new tokens as they want. It's by far the worst crypto currency out there, and I simply cannot understand the market cap of that altcoin.

Ripple is 100% centralized. I can't even say it is 1% decentralized. They have their central company. People don't even know how the team and owners control the total supply of ripple.

Right, there would have to be a situation similar to insider trading that would allow someone to predict the right move that Ripple makes. The price of Ripple is very sketchy, there is some room for growth though with the amount of people holding the coins (and it isn’t much) the price could get back to its starting price without much effort.
Banks like Ripple though they don’t like it enough to pour a huge amount of money into it because they already know that they want their own system in place and would not want to get these other whales richer.

That is how it works people, and you all know that a lot of banks like ripple just because they are so interested in it, and that makes it one of the most "safest" cryptocurrencies that are on the market just because of banks.
But that doesnt make it the best cryptocurrencie, and doesnt mean that it will be worth $10 each coin in a few years because that is impossible because the supply.
But it is a good coin, it wont give more profits because it is rising so slowly, but it is safe to buy those.

As long as people are adopting and merchants are using it yes it is a safe haven but we never know what the future holds for us so far technology is growing and I believe crypto currency will also evolve to make profit and acceptance.

in the end ripple might be even a scam, but also there is  chance to make a serious profit, I'm holding a few just not to miss something completely...

You are absolutely right, check out this massive wide spread dumping of all the cryptocurrencies, still safe haven you think? most of the coins dumped more than negative 20% though as it is very good indeed when price rises it gives us sometimes more than 200% profit :D I feel like XRP is too much centralized, I mean they control the entire supply all by themselves and it'll take a few more years before the major game changer banks notice it and decide to adopt it.

And that makes them legit?  the federal reserve is the biggest scam of all. The terrible monetary policies set by the fed are what ultimately led to the creation of the solution that is Bitcoin.  What the heck is even the point of all this if you want a centralized bank partnered asset?

You do realize that a 1000 dollar ripple means it has a market cap of 38 Trillion dollars right?  That's 500x the current bitcoin marketcap and 2x the GDP of the US!  Some of you people need to think with your brains and not  your feelings.

There is an opinion about ripple and why it won't become new worldwide gold standart. Banks are interested in stable currency, they don't like volatility when the deal concerns money transfer. Ripple's blockchain technology is brilliant, but it has to much degrees of freedom. That's why banks interested exactly in ripple's blockchain, but not in the currency. Now ripple lives only because of good news...

I dont think that XRP is a crypto safe haven. If there were to be one crypto safe haven, I would consider nominating one of the top coins besides ripple like ltc because it is not moving that much and is currently stable for a low price having a lot of potential to go way up, at least that is what I think for now. I might consider nominating xrp to be a safe haven if it is not moving in price because that is what a safe haven is, only used for storing value.

Ripple has a great product. Everyone understands this. And slowly but surely it is being implemented by more and more companies. I believe that XRP is a long-term coin that will open its full potential within 1-3 yrs of years.

I can't say it is a safe haven for investors as investors' profit depends on only price of the coin but I can say that ripple is one of the few only successful and profitable companies in this industry.

they're probably the most "legit" token, as they're jumping through the necessary hoops to comply with everyone. mass adoption is contingent on this and you're playing yourself if you think differently (you're also playing yourself if you think bitcoin is decentralized).

the average citizen will never believe in a non-backed asset (like from a central government). taking your crypto-anarchist ethics out of the equation, most people can't comprehend nor will they take the time to understand crypto, as most people want the easiest form of everything. that's unfortunately a piece of paper with perceived value. there will always be gatekeepers like a central gov. ripple aren't idiots.

I really think that xrp is one of the most safest cryptocurrencies that are around the market right now, just because there are a lot of banks that are investing in it at the moment, they are paying too much attention to the technology of this coin.
It can be one of the most safest coins, yes, but it is not the most profitable at this moment. It has been at $0,15 - $0,20 in the last two months.. It touched $0,40 and then dropped to $0,20 again.
There are better options, but for long term i think it can be one of the best choices

I believe people can say anything about xrp, but mostly I agree with you. Their price action history, stable volume and also positive news become my indicator to replace money with xrp. Even today xrp get low than before but this is the right time to buy more. But don't forget money management and patience. Have a nice day.

The current price of Ripple really low, it cannot drop below @3000 or @2000 sat again because drop under that price = cannot recovery in long time if bullish market comeback. In current, we can start to buy Ripple and save it for next few months and wait our profit.

I would advise you to keep this coin for several years. Its price can increase several times.

With more financial institutions backing up Ripple, I think we have a promising future with the coin. The coin has also remained in the top five for crytpo for some time too. An article I read the other day predicts Ripple to be worth $2 by 2018, which might be a stretch, but > $1 is more likely.

That is a double-edged blade. Leads towards centralisation, which is bad for many people. But more control and more willingness to be regulated is more secure for everyone, especially the users. It is like being ETH, but being more compliant to the powers that be. But you are right, Bitcoin is not as decentralised as sometimes we like to imagine.

Check out tether's chart ... it took a small bump but quickly rebounded.  It's pegged to the US dollar.  Seems like a quick and easy way to "shapeshift" out of something in a hurry.  

I thought DigixDOA would be a safe haven, too, supposedly pegged to 1 gram of gold, but it got hammered over the weekend.  Down about 30% at one point.... the math on that one have never looked right to me, anyway.  It did fully bounce back, though, in a few days.

Not at all. Xrp is somehow centralized by the developers and therefore, it against the decentralized system in Bitcoin and the crryptocurrency. But the Japan is currently developing its system. well, it is hard to know but I do believe one thing that the cryptocurrency will be a part of our future

XRP is everything but a safe haven and a gold standard!

- it's a centralized coin controlled by Ripple company and its founders.
- the issuance of new coins and the total number of coins can be changed anytime by its creators
- there is a very bad liquidity vs marketcap because a bunch of happy fews own large chunks of it and can manipulate the price at will
- people mix up the success of Ripple as a company and the value of the token. No bank will use XRP for its transactions! Why would they do that ?

Early buyers were lucky to see XRP shot up in value only because it's an old coin, thus traded on large exchanges.
It can gain more value as the crypto party attracts lots of new speculators but ultimately XRP holders will lose lots of money.

XRP is a good laugh that much is clear.
It separates the sheep (xrp bag holders) from the wolves (Ripple investors) like nothing else. Ripple investors drowns some bait out with some crap story and xrp dart reaches in his pockets and sends his money. Ripple guy says it much better in my pocket anyway because you have no appreciation for money.

btc is everything but a safe haven and a gold standard! - it's a centralized coin controlled by the top 3 mining pools (controlling 51%+ of the hash).


because a bank will save money on every transaction... XRP is also needed to cover transaction fees for their use of ripple's network. if any IOU:XRP becomes liquid enough, and banks can find a way to hedge their long exposure to XRP, then market makers may offer the IOU:XRP cross - order flow goes to liquidity.

Calling it a centralized coin is an insult to the crypto community. The Aug 1st fork showed that BTC can upgrade despite the influence of large mining pools. At least the BTC algo can't be changed any minute contrary to Ripple's.


That's all but wishful thinking. Banks will adopt the blockchain technology gradually and if they need tokenisation, they may very well create their own tokens or establish a standard token like they did for the Swift network.

I dont know lol, it was supposed to be decentralized, now some crazy bankers are gonna speak for xrp on oktober, besides that I think xrp is gonna get wiped away since these corrupt banks have made their own blockchain technology based transactions, I think xrp is a little too late with their product since the corrupt government and bank are gonna make their own blockchain

Sorry boys, as slick as Ripple is, it's still a premined corporate controlled token. And the corporation releases more tokens whenever they feel like it. Finally, Ripple would be one of the easiest coins for a government to shut down.

Therefore I conclude that it's not a "save haven investment".

I would still choose BTC to be the safe haven,because it can manipulate the alts market if the BTC wanted to.

After Ethereum down to 3rd position on marketcap now can be said thath Ripple now is the best crypto. Do not think if later this coin will be so much likes than Ethereum.

According to me XRP is a good currency and If we think about long term it can give us good amount of profit so if someone is planning to invest for long term then yes XRP is a safe heaven 90% chances of good profits. Because many new members who are working of crypto trading are investing in XRP so its a great opportunity to buy now and enjoy the profit later. I am not advising anyone its just my opinion if you want to invest you can do your own research.

Absolutely right. Ripple is completely centralized. The amount of this coin is printed at the discretion of the banks. Therefore, it functions in violation of the basic principles of the crypto currency - decentralization, anonymity, freedom of financial choice. With this coin, we must be extremely careful not to get carried away by it, otherwise we may lose all of our freedoms that decentralized Crypto-currency gives us and which were conceived as the fundamental Satoshi Nakamota.

Why is XRP a haven for cryptocurrencies? It's hard for me to understand. I think the USDT is the token for the job.

I think too, XRP (ripple) will be a great future coin, because there are so many new features in their project. this will be a good place to invest in the world of crypto.

Any coin could be the best for any of us if we are earning big on that coin. I dont have XRP but i have many Ethereum and Bitcoin in my wallet so therefore i will say Ethereum and Bitcoin are the best for me not XRP. I believed in ETH because the platform is mostly used bt most of the ICO than XRP but again any coin could be the best it only depend on your handling and strategy.

Well, then. After the fall of the coins it is difficult to say which coin can become the gold standard. As it turned out, there are no untouchables.

I put XRP in same category with PayPal, only now you don't need an account on their website, you need their Wallet, which acts like an account. It is based on internal network of distribution like banks. Wallets are sync'd with their nodes. There are no mining, just a piece of software who generate tokens. To me, eventually some hackers will find vulnerability in the network and will collapse, once happen with 1 crypto tokens company, people will panic and withdraw all funds from other token base centalized systems.
Unlike mining crypto, this have no intrinseque value like bitcoin given by the miners who spend time and energy to produce. This one is generated by 1 software and is centalized in the internal network. It is true that they can put as many nodes as they like to sync wallets. But still they control everything.
Even with these cons, is better alternative to present banking systems, but in the future they can add tax payments fees into system without your consent.

True, security-wise, I also believe that Bitcoin leads by a mile. Although as a mode of payment, I would still use XRP for micro transactions. I am not putting large amounts of money in my wallet anyway.

Indeed, i do not want even 1 penny to put there, not because is not safe or afraid to lose money, but because i do not support such a "technology". Most of us here on this forum know how easy is to modify some parameters into bitcoin core and create our own currency at any time. We can remove all the tx fee from core and "voila" we have a coin w/o tx fee that is filtered/pre-mined on a single server or put 2-3 more in different locations and sync them.
If some have power to manipulate masses by agressive marketing like ripple to make people to trust in them, then i won't call it scam or fraud, untill they scam people, like bitconnRect company did. At least ripple doesn't use pyramid scheme to attract more customers, they rise funds into market capital of company to divert attention to the masses. In the end those market caps are their money safe in their accounts, masses of people send their money in ripple's accounts :) . If they collapse and people lose money on their network, then including their investors like moneygraam should be sent to the court. When they become more transparent on how they secure network and we see any potential vulnerabilities on their network, i cannot trust them.

You cannot tell that. There are some people telling that XRP is centralized. And also I am not a fan of XRP. But I just love XRP because it is very nice marketcap, also xrp has quite good volume and still undervalued now since the price of XRP dropped by around 1$ this week.

I realize that more then 95% from top 100 currencies are not working on similar technology like bitcoin with PoW algo, most of those 95% coins are simple Apps.

I like XRP because it is actually being used.  Many altcoins thrive solely off speculation.  You must realize that during the huge correction that XRP just went through, there was no bad news.  FUD and people wanting to cash out some of their profits caused the price to drop and then the whole market took a dive.  Nothing has changed with the product and there is still plenty of room for adoption and growth. 

i believe the riple has big potential in future even i bought with high prices and now drop to the lowest price ever but i still believe in it potential so i still hold it until now hope it will flying again in future.

Decentralized is system which will help financial for people in this world. There are alot coin better than XRP out there

If you did able to jumped in earlier time then you can really say that you are on safe haven since the price of ripple did rise up which would really give you some serious profits or money but if you did able to buy out on peak prices for sure you would really say the opposite thing. Even on bitcoin we cant say its already a safe haven. From the word itself talking "safe" which is 100% risk free which we know its not possible.

Oh and yeah, happy to have bought at the dip. I know it went even below a dollar but I'm very happy to have taken it at just over 1.15. Centralized yes, but have people already forgotten about how centralized ETH was and still is? And look at it grow. Perhaps there is something to be said about corporate greed and centralized leadership. I may not hold Ripple for years, but I suspect even a year can see reasonable gains. And by reasonable I definitely don't mean even more than double! Still a realist here.

A safe haven would suggest the price holds pretty good when bitcoin for example goes down, the past few weeks proved that's not the case yet.

I study eth and bitcoin network and i can say bitcoin miners are more centralized then ethereum, at ethereum i get more then 5k confirmations on transactions, bitcoin i cannot even mine it anymore with video cards. Either way, i've noticed banks getting involved more and more, you can see that top 100 currencies are centralized ones.
Seems banks winning the war, it is no doubt that they control all fiat money. After they get enough users to use their tokens, they are gonna put taxation fees for trade, then you realize what you had and what you hold in that near future. All the centralized tokens have nothing to do with blockchain inception.
