Seems like a good project between landlord and tenant, however, I think this should be a success in the countries where people are trading in Crypto. Only after that this can be moved to other countries. Whatever will be the case I really like this concept. Most importantly, the eliminates the middlemen and one can have a direct word with the landlord/tenant or whoever is the owner.

Let’s see how main round of ICO will go. You have to understand, that for delivering good product and bringing it to the market you need recourses. In this case, if we would burn unsold tokens we could get into situation of lacking appropriate recourses for accomplishing our project. This would have no help with bringing token value up. But don’t worry in case we would need extra ICO round, we will not sell them on price lower than maximal price on current upcoming ICO (For instance, if on upcoming ICO token price will go up to $0,095 then on additional ICO round it cannot be lower than that.).

Yes, I understand you. In any case, it's too early to say. Let's look at the results of ICO, and then you can do some conclusions. I think that everything will be fine. Ideally, of course, if there are additional rounds, then the price should be a little higher.

I think there is only on possibility for a good ICO:
1) Have a min. cap. If this min cap is not reached, then the project is not funded and all collected funds are returned to the ICO participants
2) If min cap is reached: burn the non-sold tokens

This is, in my opinion, the only way. I won’t invest in ICOs which don’t fulfil these 2 points. An ICO should be a win-win situation for investors and the start-up.

Soft cap can be revisited in case we won’t reach our goal. However, considering how token sale is going so far, we can already state that the project will be brought into life.

I think that we will achieve the minimum capitalization accurately.

Our ICO is halfway to its finish. Results show proofs of our marketing concept as well as business model. For that, we are declaring to continue development and bring the product to the market.

Great project! I am glad that I participated in the campaign bounty. Not yet selling your tokens, the price has already risen to a good level, but there will be even more growth during the year! Exit to larger stock exchanges, summer release platform.

It's doing pretty well, but would do way better with bigger exchanges. Etherdelta is becoming unusable, the chat sidebar is nothing but angry users having problems (e.g. tx's going to wrong addresses) with the platform.

Very quickly and successfully passed the AirDrop, as the project becomes more popular in the crypto-currency environment, and very quickly the necessary number of subscribers to the telegrams and the participants of the AirDrop was accumulated. The development process of Emphy application beta-version is put on track now. We are in a very close cooperation with Teamvoy team, who supports us in development process. During the first sprint our distributed team was working on both back end API services and front end views. Also, following CI/CD practices, we currently have different environments for developers and business, where we can test features immediately after they are deployed by development team. Authentication workflow is already implemented on back end side and our team is doing acceptance testing for it. During the ongoing second sprint we focus on improving security part for API services and integration of front end mobile views. According to our current progress we are moving from current alpha version to more functional and secured beta, that would be the final step before delivering our app to customers.

Dear community! We are pleased to announce that the second sprint of Emphy beta development is over and we’d like to share with you some results. During the last sprint, we focused on mobile application development. We already have implemented first screens for user sign in, sign up and onboarding flows. Also, first integration testing of API services was performed. Finally, we added integration with Twilio service that we use for user’s mobile phone number verification. Our next steps are to deploy mobile application to test environment and start testing the whole flow by ourselves first. Also, we continue working on real estate images processing that users can add to posts.

The third sprint of Emphy application development is over and we’d like to share with you some results! During the last sprint, we focused on the development of both views and backend endpoints for supporting user with uploading advertisements of their property. Furthermore, during this development we made minor improvements to our design in order to provide more user-friendly interface to our customers. Finally, we put on track the testing of mobile version together with API, and in parallel with active development we test a mobile application just before providing it to our beta customers. The next steps of development are related to testing the mobile version together with backend API, implementing the property booking functionality.

Emphy team is excited to announce that Emphy Testnet has launched! Recently, we’ve sent out an access to Emphy’s Beta version to all our community members who have previously registered on our official website for testing the platform on Android. In addition, we will distribute iOS version as soon as we get confirmation from Apple's Testflight.

Currently, the following functions are available for testing:

✅Inventory function that enables to list your property and add detailed description as well as choose a payment method

“The Blockchain Taskforce in Kenya Has Already Been Formed” — An Interview with Morris Gitonga from Nairobi


Kenya has shown a huge adoption and growth in applying technology, for instance, M-Pesa. Do you see the same happening to cryptocurrencies and blockchain?
Morris: M-Pesa has massively grown in terms of adoption in Kenya, and because people have a strong need to make financial operations with ease, M-Pesa is a perfect tool that offers immediate transfer of money, with small limitations. Even if you have access to banks, you have to access them at certain hours, certain days etc., it is not as convenient as with M-Pesa. Even though M-Pesa is a little bit expensive in terms of the cost of the transaction, people are willing to look past the costs, for the purposes of convenience.
Talking about cryptocurrency, locals are quite fascinated with Bitcoin, and lots of people are interested in trading or as they put it “investment in bitcoin”. Except that, comparing to M-Pesa, cryptos have no limitations while sending larger amounts of money and its cost friendly. It’s important to mention that with the high unemployment rate in Kenya, most youths end up working in the informal sector also known as Juakali sector. So, most of the young people working in this Juakali/Informal sector are using cryptocurrencies to facilitate their payment transactions. Generally speaking, the population in Kenya becomes friendlier with technology, so people start to use cryptocurrencies more. For instance, in restaurants, in normal shops (I know a retail shoe shop and a restaurant where they accept BTC), so the trend is growing.

How did you find out about cryptocurrency?
Morris: I first learnt about it in 2011, we just had a conversation with a friend and he mentioned BTC, like it’s the case for many people in the space I didn’t take an interest. Only to hear of the same in early 2017 and this time due to its massive growth in price I became interested and started own research to understand more about Bitcoin. Just to add, in 2017 it was a first time when I was paid with BTC for my freelance job, and actually the same year, I and my friends decided to form a media portal CoinWeez that currently accepts payments in cryptocurrencies too.
Wow! It’s been a long time since 2017. And what’s the common source from which people get to know about cryptos in Kenya these days?
Morris: People tend to get to know about cryptocurrency via social media channels, the most popular would be Facebook and Youtube. We also organize meetups for cryptocurrency lovers after office hours during weekdays and over weekends. So, as you can see, Kenyans don’t want just to sit and relax at home, they are always eager to learn something new and get more educated, especially when it comes to technology.

How do you feel the current sentiment of cryptocurrencies in Kenya? What do you feel the government stands is in Cryptocurrencies? Is there a chance the crypto will be banned?
Morris: Personally, I don’t see this happening, as we have quite pro-technology government officials who are in charge of ICT, and competently understand the technology, as well as the potential it can give to the Kenyan people. Furthermore, the blockchain taskforce in Kenya has already been formed and is headed by a very progressive committee member under the leadership of tech-savvy chairman Dr Bitange Ndemo. So, I’d say, from the government side, they don’t have an intention to ban it, but rather warn about possible threats and just create a caution.
Is it easy to turn bitcoin into fiat in Kenya? M-Pesa is a fiat.
Morris: Yes, it’s quite easy. M-Pesa has the exchange of Bitcoin to Fiat currency using Localbitcoins which is peer to peer online marketplace, so you can easily sell or buy Bitcoin in exchange to M-Pesa, or simply peer-to-peer where you can meet and transact face to face while still using the platform. It is common here to exchange face-to-face.

Emphy is providing opportunities worldwide for landlords & tenants of short-term housing. We decided to launch our (mobile) platform on Kenyan market, as it’s quite large (in terms of real-estate) as well as the banking sector is not well developed yet, so we’re trying to help the local Kenyan landlords to make income with a help of Emphy ecosystem based on the blockchain. Both, landlords and tenants from around the world will be able to pay and receive money in Emphy Coins. Do you see it as a good concept for Kenyan landlords?
Morris: Not only to landlords but young Kenyans who like to travel. Mostly the young generation is always looking for options online. Coming from Kenyan culture, it’s important for us to have ratings present, as well as the convenience of use. For instance, I tried using Airbnb, and to be honest, it’s been a quite hectic experience for me. I didn’t manage to secure my rental home because of the miscommunication with the landlord, and as Kenyan person, I’ve been quite reluctant to pay the amount in advance. So, in this case, I see the option of the landlord receiving payments on a daily basis from a guest is quite good.

What about landlords?
Morris: When it comes to Kenyan landlords, I think it would be beneficial for them to be facilitated with Emphy, especially the platform would be most applicable to young landlords, because they are more technology-friendly. Critically thinking, I think that Kenyan people involved in real-estate, and living outside Nairobi, should be more approached as not that many people from real-estate know about cryptocurrencies, especially in cities outside Nairobi, so I think it’s important to approach and educate people about this.

And about the concept, smartphones are a big thing in Kenya now — so we tend to use smartphones a lot to access online marketplaces, so if Kenyans can access the convenience, rating system, and build trust via Emphy — it would be great.

Emphy Development Update Is Available Now!

Over the past few weeks we’ve been preparing the latest release of the Emphy Platform. Our team has been putting countless hours into the design and development of this build that contains both fixes and new features.
It all begins with security, so we focused precisely on the payment workflow, including payment and stripe cards processing. Furthermore, the user experiencewas improved by implementing QR code for “My Balance” status checking. UIimprovements include the progress bar activity when scrolling images in the application, new error messages when booking is not possible, pagination on screens containing long lists of data, navigation to chat from the request details. Also, we removed the possibility to add a review if a user has not booked an inventory. Moreover, fixes were added for currency conversion, Android header and text inputs, as well as inventory status changes. Our main goal for the next sprint is to finish payment flow and start testing the real usage of EPY token in the application. To keep you up-to-date on the process in more detail, we also compiled a list of the recent platform’s development highlights:

Our dedicated team has already made incremental updates to the previous beta version of the Emphy platform based on your early feedback and therefore, we would like to share with you the latest results. During this sprint, we focused on finalizing the payments processes with EPY tokens, improving customer experience with FAQ section, Terms and Conditions, Privacy policy screens. Also, we fixed bugs that are related to both front end and backend. UI fixes for iPhone 5/SE were added to make Emphy more usable on these devices as well.
