HEY ,
i have noticed that i'd make more money if i trade altcoin with USDT as it's stable and equivalent to usd ,so i can get my calculations .on the other hand trading with btc isn't that much profitable or sometimes not profitable at all if btc price gone down , so why most people trade with btc !
i think i'm missing something .

I always find myself debating this as well.

I can see where you are coming from. For me, I trade with BTC because its offer the most trading pairs in the trading platform that I am using. But sometimes, I switch to USDT when BTC price is going down.

I did trading with pair BTC because purpose of trading altcoin is to make more amount of BTC. And when amount of BTC more then the price up so we have double profit. This is good strategi for holding BTC longterm.

This is why I trade with BTC.  When I first setup my trading bot (Gunbot) I started with USDT so my brain could easily understand the outputs and the calculations.  I eventually went away from USDT and converted fully to BTC.  I also found that when I traded USDT and BTC it made profit calculations difficult since calculating profit in USDT would always be impacted by BTC's value.  Now it's all about growing the BTC.

so it's only because of trading volume !

You cannot see a 100% growth in USDT trading. Not even 50% I guess. In BTC trading the growth will reach as high as 300%. I know you noticed it because you are trading. Aside from that, in USDT, there are only a handful of coins you can trade with. In BTC based or ETH based, the list of coins are so many to choose from.

nobody uses USDT.

i am no exception. i liked the idea of USDT at first sight but with more study i do not trust it at all. and it is not stable either. there are times when it falls under $1 and they don't even guarantee the price. so i don't use it.

on top of it, i want profit on my bitcoin not on my fiat. fiat is fiat and its value will be the same no matter what. but bitcoin is rising and because of that i want to have more of it. so obviously i trade with bitcoin so that i can increase my stash.

i think everyone else is doing the same for same reasons too!

Because the USDT equal with the dollar and there is no a lot of the volatility and that was not same with the bitcoin that can get a big duump just in a second, and i sure a lot of people are losing in the bigdump by the whale. They are like with the bitcoin caused by it will be so easy to be predicted.

The advantage of using BTC while trading altcoin is better than USDT. On other side we are trading altcoin we can also hold BTC wait until the price goes up. Sometimes the movement of bitcoin values is more likely to rise faster than altcoin.

no, you make money if you make a successful trade. it doesn't matter what you use to trade with. it can be USD, USDT, LTC, CNY, or grains of salt :)

USDT (Tether) is neither stable nor equivalent to USD!
read their website explaining it if you don't believe it.
and you can also check out the price history and see all the big dips!

calculations can be done with anything. you just need amount before and after a trade.

trading with BTC is the most profitable of all since bitcoin price rises in long term.
and also when bitcoin price goes down all the other altcoins will go down with it. it doesn't matter if you trade with USDT, the price of the altcoin will go down against that too and USDT can tank hard and you lose twice.

Whatever you choose you can make great profit. Dont get me wrong, if you are good in trading of altcoin > USD then so be it, stay with it. And when thr price of bitcoin starts to move down just take the advantage of buying some more, you have freedom to choose on where you are comfortable.

USDT is one of those things that only looks good from afar but it is far from good.

the first time i found out about tether i thought this is exactly what crypto world needs. something that is not fiat but it has the same value. but when you study it an read a little more about it you can see it is not really good at all. it in fact has a lot of risk. risk that is unnecessarily introduced when you use it. and it is heavily centralized which is always bad in crypto world.

usdt and crypto equally have the most important thing to analyze your trading, let alone btc price up and down,
it is usdt and btc not too far importance

I trade with Tether if the whole market is dropping, but Tether often only has a trading pair with Bitcoin and major alts. So you'd have to go alt->Bitcoin->Tether, and then back again when you want to re-buy... with % costs at each step.
The other point is just self-fulfilling: the Bitcoin markets have higher volumes, which means a lower spread between maximum buy price and minimum sell price, which means more people will use this market, which leads back to higher volumes.
Finally some people still view Tether as a risk. It is supposed to be pegged to the dollar, but it does have a tendency to drift a few cents - particularly when markets are at their most volatile.

It's not just the trading volume. I use btc because I simply always have some and it's easy to send them on some exchanger like bittrex and start trading. As for dollars, I'm not living in the USA, so this is a currency which has to be converted to the local currency and actually the rates are not very nice right now. Moreover, I don't have any debit card with dollars, so it's rather difficult to send them on an exchanger. And to this one last thing should be added: yes, bitcoin is currently dropping, but in general it is always growing.

This. It's shady as anything, and eventually when it's shut down for pretending to be dollars, people will lose their money.

Stick to trading against BTC.

i think it up to you how you trade Altcoin With USD it is fine too but if you are talking about Altcoin it mean Alternative coin of bitcoin
So most people keep bitcoin in hand because BTC rising and since 2011
 

If you really think that it is a good option then it is your choice to trade USD rather than bitcoin,i am happy and i am earning a good deed trading with bitcoin because we are having a good rally in the price till now and as long as the price of bitcoin is volatile and moves higher i am happy dealing with bitcoin.

BTC has more trading pairs so less % lost on trades, plus there are some traders who are interested in their bitcoin portfolio more than their fiat one, they're just not interested in usdt.

My trading technique is i will buy altcoins with BTC because the price is high and I will get more coins. But when I want to sell my altcoins I will not convert it into bitcoins i will convert it into USDT. Becasue the BTC price is not stable, and i will get confuse weather i am in profit or loss. But USDT will tell my exact profit. For me, USDT is the best coin to altcoin trading you will get one calculation.

The USDT was created to help investors reduce the risk of the crypto market, and when the market fluctuates, investors will move to USDT to wait for a stable market. and make a decision

I traded the altcoins fair bitcoins BTC because it is the most many be used for trading altcoins and almost all of the markets support for altcoins fair bitcoins than usdt, but in some condition where the trend of digital coins going down, the usdt is best choice for us to keep the values because usdt is stable coin in the price, so everything depend on the situation and condition of the markets.

thanks everyone for clarification . yes trading with with btc would made me more money in long term (when btc goes up) . i was confused at first :D

Trading volume and the number of available pairs are great factors, but the biggest one is that people want bitcoin not USDT, people have the goal of increasing their bitcoin stash if they wanted to do that with USDT they will take a risk, because if bitcoin skyrockets at that point your efforts could be in vain and you could have less bitcoin.

You are welcome, i just tell you about the trend of price in digital coins, if the trend price of digital coins are going down, trading digital coins fair usdt is best choice due to the price of usdt is very stable around $1 USD / usdt. But if the trend price of digital coins are going up trading altcoins fair bitcoins is good due to as you said, on digital coins we can make money online long term and short term investing in digital currencies world.

I'm trading altcons using BTC because if i successfully traded altcoins i will get double profit because BTC is getting higher value too in the future because my goal is to grow my bitcoins because if i trade altcoins using USD or fiat i will gain only getting a small profit because BTC is raising over USD every year so while im trading im holding BTC too while the value of it getting higher and higher it means double income to the investors

trading with USDT:
when you make a profit it means you make more USDT. if you have 10,000 USDT today it is worth 10,000 USD but it may be worth 9,850 USD too if it falls..

trading with BTC:
when you make a profit it means you make more BTC. if you have 2.857BTC today it is worth about 10,000 USD but in 6 months it can be worth 18,000 USD
