Title: Wallets and Coins
Post by: lyminmin on September 12, 2017, 09:52:38 AM
We have a new project that provides Wallet for cryptocurrency, but we are not sure whether users will need multiple Wallets to manage their coins, that's why I am starting this poll, please help~ :)

I'd personally like to see more multi-coin wallets built into one single application, I'd also prefer it if it was open source.
Something like Coinomi, but also available for desktop and not only mobile platforms.

You'd also need support for as many coins as possible.

for bitcoin alone there are enough variety of wallets to use.

for altcoins, many like holding them in their own wallets but the problem is usually the fact that they all need a lot of space. so if a multi-coin wallet which was also light (as in SPV wallets) were to be created which was also open source and without bugs then it would be preferable for them only.

I use several wallets because most of them cannot support all of my coins.
It will be good if there is a wallet that support multiple coins however I would like to control the private keys.

Yes I think there is huge demand for multi coin wallet but you have to make it SPV wallet like jaxx and with better security than jaxx (there is news that jaxx doesn't encrypt recovery phrase.

Also you need to spend few $ in marketing to create some buzz or you can request crypto related blogs to write about your wallet for free or for some bitcoin. How you can recover all these cost depends on you...

Interesting concept. The key here is security - you'll need to keep in mind that you either offer the customer the option to store their private keys separately or you take good care of encrypting them.

Question: how are you going to calculate the balances of all these wallets if you are not holding the entire blockchain for all these altcoins?

Personally, I would like to use a wallet which can support various cryptocurrency which support top 10-20 coins from coinmarketcap will be enough.
But, if you can develop a wallet to store bitcoin and several coins based on ethereum blockchain will be fine. I know it wouldn't be easy, but many people will use this wallet if you can make it. Waiting for more information about your project, good luck.

I am using multiple wallets to store my bitcoin.. I didn't preferred to store all my assets in a single wallet due to security purposes.

If ever you're planning to make a wallet that support multiple currencies then I will suggest to include different tokens also to make it more centralized and friendly use.
Be sure to apply high security measures for this one.

I spread my coins across a few wallets, for security..
Although now, with all the Altcoins, I have more wallets than I'd like to..

I wish there were a more universal crypto wallet.

I like many multicoin wallets. Maybe you could make one, that also supports ETH token in an easy way. Could you also implement an exchange service? Would be great.

The multi coin wallet is currently in the works by many teams, however as of yet we haven't seen anything that would satisfy most people's needs. Security and altcoin options are the difficult issues at hand. This is a great opportunity.

Of course one wallet with many features like holding much coins is a good idea but depends on how secure it will be (you may know what software needs bug checks and etc). But will that wallet be online or offline? Because there was one online wallet bit.ac and people don't liked their service + they weren't able to become popular despite the fact that they tried their best in promoting. Gaining trust will be hardest moment, so if you have money and team for that, then it will be good.

If you can make it, people will like to use it.
The wallet must have some features like can export private keys and set custom fees.
But there are some questions about it;
how much coins you've planned to supported by this wallet?
How about the security?
It's possible for a wallet could generate some addresses for various cryptocurrencies?

This idea of a multi coin wallet with an exchange service is great! It is really something missing in the market since we cannot leave our cryptos on the exchange (too risky!) and once we want to sell them it's never that quick because we have to transfert from a wallet to an exchange. Sometimes we want to sell the coin at a price but we don't want to leave the coin on the exchange, this is very complicated to take the exact price wished.

Do you realize that your words against yourself? there's no difference if a wallet is an exchange as well, it's called exchanges.
The best place to buy and sell cryptocurrencies is through exchanges, they provide wallet for various coins as well which you can call it 'multi coin wallet with an exchange'. No need to transfer a coin to exchange if you keep it in an exchange in the first place. The idea of multi coins wallet is useless if you can't get the private keys or other third platforms know your private keys.

I wish you success in this project

Currently, the money is made with the ERC20 source code, this is an open source, and you can store these coins by ETH wallet. That is why these coins do not really need a purse for them. However, I personally think that the coin that owns the wallet will grow stronger. because they are independent.

Agree I also used multiple wallet for the reasons of keeping bitcoin, I do it because I just want to secure my bitcoin savings. Technically I believe that division of savings into different wallet is good strategy to lessen the risks of our deposits. Moreover, I plan to hold for a long run of time my bitcoin that's why I do it.

I use different wallets for the same coin as ever since my blockchain wallet got hacked, it's not secure to hold coins in just 1 wallet. I use xapo, coinbase, myetherwallet as well as third-part exchange wallets to hold my altcoins and bitcoins. I'll be buying ledger nano too but still won't be using it as my primary wallet.

single wallet that can hold and support various coins is a good idea for efficiency. but the security is the most important point. while multiple wallets will be safer as most of people do with their deposits in multiple bank accounts. Anyway, good luck with the project

I think this is a really feasible project. At present, most of the new coins do not own their own wallet, they only use ethereum as a versatile wallet. This makes them not really powerful. I think each coin needs a separate purse.

That would be a good project, looking forward to have a wallet that holds multi coin. I would suggest features such as tighter security and  customized transaction offer. Basically, the main concern here is the fund safety and security. Try to make this hold larger volume of fund.

For me, it is also depend on what we need to have especially when we need to apply with different kind of coin, but if I would need to choose, maybe I want to have multiple accounts that needs to manage some other coins (altcoins) and bitcoin. If there are only one wallet that support all of the coin including bitcoin maybe that would be enough.

Though I like the idea of a multi coin wallet I'm not sure I'd trust it in the long run.

There would be alot of back end work to keep the various nodes operating. When you look at the extensive moaning from the mycelium developers about trying to monetize, and that's probably the most popular wallet out there which doesn't even bother with bch let alone anything else, I don't see how a smaller operation could stay afloat for very long.

There's always some maintenance that needs doing and every coin attracts new problems and moans from users.

Anyone thinking of doing this will need more money, expertise and people than they originally plan for.

I do ask this kind of thing sometimes specially when I got frustrated on opening up a certain wallet depending on which coin because most of them do have their own respective wallet and its understandable since they do have different platforms.Actually I do really like the idea on having a wallet who does have it all so that the hassle would be lessen on storing coins on different wallets but the main thing should be concerned on here is the security.

Your right holding large value of bitcoin in single wallet are not advisable, due to high numbers of hacker to the whole world. It's better to have an account into multiple wallet than to stolen all your savings without your knowing or withdraw it immediately or the half of your bitcoin to lessen the risks. I think it's a good idea if you can put the 50% or up of your savings into your bank account, to assure that your amount is safe.

Buddy, it will be nice and convenient to hold all the coins in one single wallet. Its very difficult to download 100s of wallets for different cryptocurrency. Also remembering the username and password is not that easy. In fact I was searching for a wallet that holds different currencies and came across exodus. But they have only few currencies and heard that their transaction fees is high when compared with other wallets. So dropped the idea of using that.

Multiple wallet account was a good idea, because if you have multiple wallet you can be sure that your bitcoin amount was fully secure. Even there were fortuitous event happen you are sure that your savings are safe, especially those who wants to hacked your account. Otherwise if you keep your bitcoin in your account you have less doubt regarding draining of amount in your account.

I would really like for something like that to exist or if you are planning to make something like that that would be PERFECT. Only downside is you are stashing all your holdings into 1 bag and that is BIG NO NO, because of security and other things. If SOMEHOW you could make super ultra security that could work that would be PERFECT.

Anyway, i keep some coins on an exchanger (no more than 0.05 in btc) for doing trading, if someday i look for the opportunity to take some profit from it. And i store my altcoins on myetherwallet.

Having multiple kind of wallet will helps a lot because it will secure your coins and also helps you to manipulate different coins using different wallet, it also makes one's person to store more of their coins. But also having multiple wallets means that you also have your different password and other security keys. Just be careful on handling your wallets and don't forget to have a back up info of it, in case you forgot it.

In reality you just need to used multiple wallets, because some wallets are for altcoins, for tokens and for coins or bitcoin only. Commonly using of online wallet are the fully establish coin while the offline wallets are used by the coin who started to promote their project or Coins.

Make it a wallet that deos support different coins because I really need one. I'm doing trades so it's very tempting to sell my coins once it make small pumps instead of holding it for a long time. I need that single wallet for Sia, Nem, Ripple and other promising coins as well.

I vote for one wallet that support different coins is enough. I would expect to be able to store any altcoin or at least the most popular ones on it.  I want to keep them all safe in one wallet.

more users are looking for that kind of wallet, if you making new crypto coin wallet make it easy to understand and to used it will helps the wallet to make more attracted to more users of crypto currency. Me i used wallet but it is specific to each coin, example coins.ph, mycelium and blockchain for my bitcoin, and myetherwallet for my ethereum and waves wallet for specific coin. I want to try the wallet which all coins are available to deposit and easily to exchange into bitcoin.

I think such wallets are in demand today. You see, Bitcoin is too expansive to buy or invest in it so easily and many people moved on altcoins or tokens, which cost cheap today, but have a perspective to raise a lot.
Well, I am one of persons who needs such multi wallet to hold all my investments in one place.

This is true which this kind of wallet would really be in demand on most users which it can store up different kind of coins either on erc20,bitcoin and waves and lots of variety. For now this kind of project would be somehow hard if you do try to look on the current wallets they only store out several coins all at once which isnt bad at all but it much better if they would able to create than can store up large numbers.

If you are gonna build something, make it better than Jaxx and you will gain a lot of customers.

That is going to be the most important moment of the whole idea of multi-coin wallet. It should to be so protected as paper wallet due to people are going to hold there different coins, which in sum can be some really big money. That's why online wallet doesn't suits for such target. I would like to have a guarantee that those coins are mine, but not the wallet's to they can close their activity and ciao!

If the app also has expanding features like users can request to add other coins if not available on their wallet so you can collect data based on users request, additional security features like combination of biometrics and passcode. Easy wallet transfers with text confirmations for realtime notifications and trracking of transaction. Anything that provides convenience and security using coins/tokens. A little bit of reward/rebate is a plus every time a certain amount is availed something like that.  ;)

It would be nice if it holds those popular cryptos in the market right now since I didn't see any wallet that supports multi coin. But to make sure that it gonna be perfect app you should provide a very tight security for that because of wide range it covers af any coins.

so it is necessary, i think that you will have a lot of support in this forum, because we all would like to have a wallet with those specifications

This is something I wish we had already. Not only a wallet that could accept and send the popular cryptos, but also search and add obscure ones. How hard could it be to make a wallet to support the top 100 cryptos/tokens? Surely these massive companies should be able to manage it. It boggles my mind why this is not a thing yet. Currently we must download a different app/wallet for every single crypto. It takes too long.

Your question has been answered with the appearance of the token erc20, myetherwallet is great for accommodating all types of altcoin. For a blockchain and one level with it must keep some coins with a higher level of security, quality should take precedence, if they receive 100 altcoin then the system will be heavy and cause inconvenience in every gap to be penetrated.

There are a couple of wallets that contain multiple points and those are only the larger quite. Each wallet is made for each coin. The software that puts multiple coins into a wallet is simply using the same piece of software at the same GUI to represent different while it's within the system. There are still separate wallets and there are still separate pieces of software behind the GUI.

I think only one wallet is suitable.because if there are several wallets then it is difficult to manage it.sometimes it happen that one forget the password and his earn coin will waste.because if you forget your password or username then then the admin may ask several question about your account if you didn't answer their question then your earn coin may waste.so one id is best.

Impossible to hack because you have a secret key to unlock your wallet. I think now myetherwallet is something like but not totally thesame.

If there was a universal ticket, it would make life much easier for everyone! The problem is that the wallet is able to be safe enough. in my case to avoid the use of multiple wallets I use exchange wallets to save me time but it is not safe to have your altcoins in an exchange because you do not have access to a private key.

Hey, guys. I'd personally like to see more multi-coin wallets built into one single application, and also I prefer it was open source. And I found one new ICO project - MiraLab, which allows to buy, store and send cryptocurrencies in convenient way.

Firstly, Mira allows to buy different types of cryptocurrency and send them off-chain (there is no record about it changing the owner and it is just simple as downloading and sending a regular file by e-mail)   :)
Secondly, the key element of the service is MiraBox, the encrypted container file, that can store Multiple cryptocurrencies (accept BTC, ETH, LTC, DASH) OFF-chain. You pack it in and then store it on a usb drive (offline) or send it to someone, there’s no record about it anywhere (completely anonymous and secure!)
Thirdly, Private keys are stored in Mirabox, which is encrypted with a password. This password is not stored on Mira’s servers.
Fourthly, all operations with MiraBoxes can be done on the site or in a mobile app.
Fifthly, Mira has an open source code that will be posted on GitHub.
And finally, no transaction fee for sending a MiraBox.

So, make a right choice   ;)

What is Jaxx Wallet?

Jaxx has many defining features, but none more than the following:

Cross-platform pairing
Multi-coin support
Integration of ShapeShift, a powerful exchange that supports dozens of cryptos
Jaxx is a multi-chain wallet that offers support for seven different cryptocurrency assets. If you’re new to the cryptocurrency space, you’ll be happy to know that Jaxx gives you access to the world’s biggest cryptos by market cap.

This essentially means that the assets you hold on your wallet are highly liquid and in strong demand.

All these features are designed with the beginner in mind. Whether on mobile or desktop, your experience with Jaxx is likely to be smooth and intuitive.

Compatible with:

Jaxx is available on 9 different platforms, including:

Windows, Apple and Linux desktop
Android and iOS mobile and tablet
Google Chrome and Firefox extensions
It’s also designed to work and sync across all your devices.

How much does it cost?

Jaxx can be downloaded to your desktop or mobile device for free. Like other wallets, Jaxx applies transaction fees, which go to the networks that run the cryptocurrency you are trading.

For example, every standard Ethereum transaction is charged a fee of .000441 ETH. A similar fee also applies to bitcoin and the other cryptocurrencies.

Jaxx does not pocket these fees. They go straight to the network. That means they are subject to change based on the state of the network.

If you’re wondering, Jaxx makes money by facilitating ShapeShift transactions.

Which currencies can I store?

Bitcoin
Ethereum
Dash
Ethereum Classic
DAO
Litecoin
REP
How do I add currency to my wallet?

Jaxx users can manage their tokens right in their wallets via ShapeShift. This feature allows you to quickly convert between bitcoin, Ethereum and DAO, and will also work for whatever coins the Jaxx developers integrate in the future.

In addition to holding several different cryptocurrencies, Jaxx also lets you hold regular, fiat currencies.

How do I make or receive payments with my Jaxx Wallet?

To receive payments via Jaxx, the sender needs to have your cryptocurrency address. Alternatively, you can scan your public key’s QR code.

Once the sender has your address, they can send you the funds.

To send payments to someone else via Jaxx, you need to have their cryptocurrency address. For example, if you want to send bitcoin to someone, you’ll need their bitcoin address.

If you’re using Jaxx on a mobile device, you can scan the sender’s QR code if they provided you with one. The scan feature is not available on desktop, which means the address must be inputted manually.

After inputting the address, specify the amount and currency you wish to send, then click “Send.”

How secure is Jaxx Wallet?

Jaxx gives you “permissionless access” to your cryptocurrency. It requires no information or verification. In other words, it does not collect any information about you on signup.

In keeping with the Jaxx philosophy, all cryptocurrency keys are created and held on your local device. This means you have full control of your wallet. Of course, it also means you are susceptible to getting hacked.

Additionally, your account can be backed up through a single master seed, which refers to the string of random words that can help you recover your coins.

Where can I get Jaxx Wallet?

The Jaxx Wallet can be downloaded for free on the company’s main website.

Jaxx wallet website

Jaxx can also be downloaded from Google Play and iTunes.

Pros & cons

Pros

Open source.
Ideal for beginners.
Wide selection of cryptocurrencies, including the world’s largest.

i explain some word about trusted wallet
                      Paper wallet
In the most specific sense, a paper wallet is a document containing all of the data necessary to generate any number of Bitcoin private keys, forming a wallet of keys. However, people often use the term to mean any way of storing bitcoins offline as a physical document. This second definition also includes paper keys and redeemable codes. A paper key is a single key written on paper that is used multiple times like a wallet (this is strongly discouraged). A redeemable code is a single key intended to be funded and "redeemed" only once: these are commonly used for gifts and as part of physical Bitcoin coins/notes.

I've been hearing about a lot of good projects in the bitcoin community. However, my main concern is about the rumors I've been hearing that there are also projects where you can get scammed. My advice would be make sure that the project you are getting into is legit.

wallets and coins are interconnected, but in choosing a wallet to keep the coin we have to make sure that the wallet is safe, because there are so many types of wallets that I think are less safe to store the coin
Theres no need to bump and old thread which havent been answered or updated since november 2017 which this is considered necroposting.

Going back at topic there are already lots of wallets in the market either hardware or software ones and most common and popular are the being used mainly basing on which platform of the coin they are holding to.

I'm prefer use to ERC-20 wallets. If I have coin on the another blockchain, I'm trying to hold it on the exchanges. I think it's safe way. If you want to do new wallet, why not?

Some coins require owner to use specific wallets making it highly impossible to store all your coins in a single wallet. You cannot complain too much, the only advantage we have is the fact that creating a bitcoin wallet is absolutely free and less stressful. So a person can own as much wallet as needed. However, if there could be a universal bitcoin wallet, things would have been quite simpler and easier for bitcoin users.

Now I’m using multi wallet to protect my coins or tokens from wallet website attack.
If my tokens are placed unsafely, I ‘m not sure it is preserved pernamently until my withdraw.

If you have several business, I recommand you prepare for several wallet according to purpose
; For example, bounty and free airdrop and actual participation about ICO presale.

As I heard, there are many dangerous factor with virus when joining airdrop.
Your personal informatio and wallet information with personal key can be disclosed without your recognition.

Furthermore, if your coin is saved on transaction site, it will be  more safe than personal wallet because he could reimburse the lost coins from webhost in some degree.
But any coins cannot be returned  to you in case of saving it in your personal wallet.

Anyway, I suggest you make multi wallet in different website.

If you are being in investing on the multiple crypto currencies. You will be need to have the multiple wallet for sure, so you should say that is the way you could lock the wallet with perfect security.  That is not correct mate.
You have the wallet with the security means you should have the private key secured desktop wallet or else you have to go with hardware wallet bro.
If you are the exchange wallet user, you should know that is not at all a secured one mate.
