I also hope that hopefully, bitcoin prices can recover, because the impact of the news is very outside can affect the market price bitcoin. Lots of bitcoin users are panicking about bitcoin market price movements that ultimately get a loss on the impact.

They are not banning bitcoin, it's only the ICO's and their local exchanges. And you are having a good speculation out there and I'm not going to panic anymore. The price is recovering a little by little and I'm satisfied with it. And this is because of Charlie Lee's twitter post that made many hodlers to sell. Just keep the faith, relax and hodl.  8)

China is not banning bitcoin but some exchanges and ICO temporarily as long as I know, haven't heard any updates on the discussion if it was permanent. I don't have exact information but someone's shared to me about a protest rally to be done by Chinese investors as no exchanges have issue a warning before the banned is due. I hope for the best of bitcoin and I think the increased will be continuing in this coming days. Be patience everyone and hold your bitcoin tightly.

it is not a country that lowers the price of bitcoin, but a country's decision on the bitcoin usage policy is affecting global bitcoin market prices.

That's right. If BTC were to be banned in a country where there are many investors, like in China, some of those coins would be converted back to local currency.
People would be afraid of being unable to trade and cash out, so they'd sell while the exchanges are still online.
As we know, a massive sale, even if performed by just 5% of the investors, could trigger an avalanche.

Panic just makes you fail to survive, and that is the main problem of a trader. This issue is very annoying I am sure only "FUD". Some people want BTC down and depressed, while they enjoy the price for some time. I do not believe in tires. If this happens China is suicidal. :o

So, no fundamental reason for the price drop? In that case, it's quite possible that pump&dump groups are suppressing the price. I wonder for how long they can hold it down.

We can't blame those who were panicking at time when drop of price, they're not expecting much about this as we're seeing increases since august 1st. Let them experienced it and I know they will learned from it. China is always been like this since let just ignored much rumors about them it won't helped us to go forward. Bitcoin now is recovering and i think it will increase more.

China spread rumors before that bitcoin will be banned and it was effective thus they do it again. I agree that we cannot blame those who panic because there are countless predictions that bitcoin would continue to rise and the possibility to double in just a few months and then when they heard the rumor about bitcoin, they just panic and immediately sold which has greatly affected the market.

Bitcoin has been rising for a while and seeing the rise in price makes me worried it will go down just as quick as it had risen and it is already happening now. I believe bitcoin will rise again and now it is just a healthy correction. In every market there is a cycle and this correction is needed so that bitcoin will not become a bubble so it has to go down from time to time and not just continuously rise up.

I would say for me that the China banning bitcoin really got me interested somehow on how the price goes. Most of us would really have some negative reaction upon hearing this news but its in more reading that we realize it could be just another fake news. A lot of influences could affect prices not just btc but anything in the economy. Even before these China issue, there had been price falls and increase so i am not really worries if there are some kind of news like this.

I too believe that the dump in the Bitcoin market is just for a short time and as soon as Chaina's government settles the matter i.e. they are not going to banned Bitcoin exchange and are banning ICOs temporarily, the price of the Bitcoin again began to pump,so hold on  for a while and do not  panic or sell your Bitcoins.

So many told in the past thread it was a fake news and spreading it on the internet. Bitcoin cannot be banned by China because they are a developing country as par as I knew, however we will see in next month the rise in Bitcoin price.

Losing China in the cryptomarket can really affect us even if it's just fake news. It just show that this country plays a major role in trading bitcoin. They has also the largest bitcoin mines so banning it is really absurd.

The "ban on bitcoin" can mean a lot of things. It can be any of these:

1. A ban on the possession of Bitcoin
2. A ban on the trading of Bitcoin
3. A ban on the conversion of Bitcoin to fiat
4. A ban on using Bitcoin as a currency
5. A ban on trading derivatives based on Bitcoin.

Right now, it seems to me that the Chinese are more concerned with #4, because they are afraid that Bitcoin can seriously undermine the Chinese Yuan.

The more they accused bitcoin of being "fraud" especially Jaime Dimon. The more bitcoin will be popular remember bad publicity is also a publicity. Bitcoin is strong on the top now and it will be there for a long time.

well, let me tell you it was a great oportunity to open a short position after Charlie Lee tweeted his "joke" about the news from his hidden source.
It was a 1000$ per BTC movement. So could have made a lot of money. Without selling one BTC , just with leverage.

It is impossible to ban the possesion of Bitcoin. How many people will be in jail if 1 practiced. A ban of using bitcoin as currency, in many countries do so, however practically many people do transaction using bitcoin. WHo knows if I bougt a cloth with bitcoin offline.

Whether an actual "ban" or not, I'm curious what long-term changes this will have to other countries and how they interact with cryptocurrency. Thoughts?

I am guessing that it's some newbies that are panicking at the moment, thru don't know enough about the cryptocurrency market at the moment and it's setbacks like these that will make them really appreciate and learn instead of depending on everyone's say so.

There could be a possibility that they are banning it I think it was official. On the other hand some news emerged as well that the reason of banning it in their country is due to the emersion or they wanted to make a similar kind of bitcoin on their own. Banned or not though I will stick on bitcoin and will continuously look at this low deep as an opportunity

You're forgetting the fact China controls most of the mining scene so banning bitcoin in such country would definitely mean something.

Whether an actual "ban" or not, I'm curious what long-term changes this will have to other countries and how they interact with cryptocurrency. Thoughts?
What do you think how long will it take to spread around the neighbouring countries ? This is bad move and could affect bitcoin in the long run.

Of course as the dominant or totally monopoly of mining. Shutting down all bitcoin related activities will seriously put a dent on the market as we have seen in a little as 2 weeks. But if they chose to close the door, I guess other opportunities will open for others. Maybe Japan will take the lead and the void that the Chinese will left. I think they have invested on their own mining farm and soon we will see this idea come into fruition. There is also South Korea who is also as dominant as Japan and China in the trading sphere. Of course the West is also there as well. Short effect, yes, but I doubt it will have serious affect in the long run.

I can confirm that India and Pakistan won't be affected my China's views on Bitcoins. India, with the second most population,  favours online currency to play an important role in the market. What bugs me is how is mining being affected vastly by China's withdrawal from the Bitcoin network.
Around the world, Bitcoin has influenced itself over the last 7 months with its rising price from 800 to 4k$. It's a  progress leap of 500%.
In the future, it will only keep rising more.
On a side note, could you summarise in a few words as to why China has started withdrawing from the Bitcoin market?

Who said that bitcoin is ban in China? You just misunderstood the fact that China is not literally banning bitcoin, but exchanges and it's ICO's. And I've read an article that these are just temporal so we can see on how China is taking it's sentiment for bitcoin in the first place. They just want to regulate the crypto currency transactions in their country.

I agree with you . China wants to control its users and avoid shifting to other countries, which is justified because China owns more than 70% of the total number of Bitcoins and the ban is never going to happen.

This FUDders spread fake news and it cause fear among weak hands that they sell their holdings at a loss. What is clear is for the ICO ban TEMPORARILY. On update, I think they will come out with Licensing on ICO's, this way they can catch those scams or make them answerable to law.

Yes,china has decided to regulate and issue license for bitcoin exchanges.BTCC has shut down voluntarily while the two other exchanges work normally. There was lots of FUD encouraging panic selling and i think once again the weaker hands, newbies have once again sold all of their bitcoins to big whales.Price has almost recovered to $3668 today which shows that there is still a huge buy wall because bitcoin has investors world wide and no more dependent on china.

Absolutely not.India has already formed a committee to give recommendations in favor of legalizing crypto currencies within six months. So india would not follow china blindly. It was earlier when india was thinking of banning virtual currencies but later took a U-turn in its decision. So,if india legalizes bitcoin, then it would increase the demand of bitcoins more.

To add further, with the recent de-monetization in India and the rise of online banking apps, India is already favouring Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies worldwide. There is but very little awareness about Bitcoin which is a major drawback to the industry. Some people are ignorant while others unaware. I guess seminars and workshops explaining the Bitcoin terminology should be help at places to enlighten the mob.
There are several Indian exchange websites and day by day, their numbers keep increasing.

Bitcoin was never banned in china, the media just reported it wrong, these people still needs more education so that whenever they report something about bitcoin they can also educate the masses, rather than creating a juicy news for them, they should remember that its not all about the ratings, what matters is they should report factual news. However, the banning os dcam ICOs and shutdown of btcc china, made an impact to the crypto economy, the drop of  of the value of bitcoin, only shows that there are a lot of new investors, who have weak hands, you can see from the exchanges that there has been a large volume of people who sodl, and this is usually a beginner's error, they failed to understand one of the basic principle in investing, that is to buy low and sell high, the shutdown of btcc exchange, doesn't mean they can't invest anymore to other exchanges, rather they just made an easy way out, they sell their bitcoins, and didn't even think of winning it back, once bitcoin rises again, they might regret selling their bitcoins. I hope that the chinese media, had seen this coming, just because of a wrong report, new investors or even those who hodl but with weak hands, will likely regret in believing such news, they should have first made an investigation before reporting it, and as we know, a negative report will be heard around the world, and just what had happened jpmorgan even capitalized on this report and the fall of price of bitcoin. Fortunately, real news are coming out already, bitcoin is not banned, and the report shoukd also consider the fact that the chinese already invested a lot on its miners, and legalized the used of bitcoins, why would they just waste a lot of time, money and effort in banning bitcoin.

Yeah. China is banning ICO which is susceptible to a lot of scam and fraudulent acts. China is banning exchange that participate in fraud. Some are just suspended because of having no license. Soon they will operate again. China is becoming strict on this field. That is just it.
There are a lot of people who already sold there investment. I don't know if it is our benefit or there loss. Just keep on buying when it dips.

thats what i dont really get about this. if they are going to ban exchange trade, but for a limited time, why panic? at the very least, look at it as though your coins might be locked for x period of time. but why sell, when obviously the price would surge when they do legitimately open the markets again? the demand that China generates is proven at this point, we have had two bubbles popped at this point.

i think the media ran with the fud, to depress the price. we all knew it would/will be temporary ;)

I do really hope it is a fake news, it will be really bad for bitcoin price if the exchanger being closed down, within the news the price fall down 30% if it is really happened I think we can back to $2000 and it will take a long time to back to $4500, but now the price is gradually recover, so there is a hope that the news is fake

This is also what I want to say. it's just a trick to compel us to sell bitcoins. This is a tactic to overthrow the price of bitcoins and the whales will increase it. And of course what happens to sellers can buy high prices. So I expect that the price will be higher and will meet the new All time high. After the drama and panic selling ended. It has also happened recently where the price of bitcoins dropped from $ 4,000 to $ 2,700. So as long as possible. Do not sell Bitcoins. Because you might not even be able to buy it cheaply

On the headline "China Banded Bitcoin", and that's yes that's the fake news, we don't know what's the point of spreading that fake news since China doesn't ban bitcoin but they are regulated in terms of their government policy. My other point of view is that they try to kill Bitcoin and then start promoting their forked bitcoincash and NEO crypto which came from Chinese dev team, and they paid the fake media for publicity stunt, IMHO.

True, it's just the fake news they use so bitcoin owners sell their bitcoin and make the price down, then they'll buy a massive bitcoin because of the cheap bitcoin price. When they buy bitcoin in large quantities they will become the majority of market rulers and set the price of bitcoin as they please. Therefore I suggest that do not panic and sell bitcoin, wait until the price back to normal.

I don't have an idea if they are owning more than 70% worth of the total bitcoins in the circulation. There are a lot of news that comes out from China and everything is aware of it and this weekend we can breathe widely because the price starts to get up again. And China is a big player in the market that has a lot of miners, investors and traders so the news did affected the market.

Ofcourse, china wont ban bitcoin, they only ban chinese ICOs that scams there fellowmen , this kind of news gives great impact  on the price of cryptocurrency because they are decentralized. Price of bitcoin goes down this past few weeks because of panic selling, and now i see that bitcoin is now recovering as investors starts to buy bitcoin for themselves and hold it. It wasn't really so much fake news as the government was talking about changes in protocol and the fact that we don't get much information out of China or at least not any non-modified information out of China then things appear differently than they really are most of the time. Combined that with the fact of fear based rumors that go around in a crypto-currency market and boom you have a China ban.

Agreed that China can not ban Bitcoin outright for the entire world but it can make its citizens not participate in the buying and selling of Bitcoin through strict legislation. Bitcoin was not really banned in China and the Chinese government never expressed such intention. The three biggest exchanges on trading crypto-currency in China announced that they will stop trading bitcoin from September 30, but this does not mean that the crypto currency will be banned. In addition, it is assumed that the closure of exchanges in China will be temporary, until the order of the circulation of the crypto currency in the country is completed.

Yes bitcoin is not banned in China, thank goodness, like China has a huge amount of bitcoin investors, markets will not be the same as before.  And panicking will happen no matter what, because some people have put whatever they have in it, if the price goes down ,they will force sell it because their situations will force them to do so. And just so you know exchanges are not banned, they are just closing down for now because of some policies I believe.

indeed I do not panic, I can get a lot of profit from the bitcoin decrease. because I can buy lots of bitcoin at a cheap price. that time the market panic resulting in decrease in bitcoin prices.
this bitcoin price reduction does not panic for some people who have a lot of capital, but for some people who have little capital it very makes their panic because they certainly do not want to suffer a big loss especially if they keep the amount of bitcoin they have to wait for the price back as it was was very long.

if its true, thats a good news to hear. to release those doubt that this china is the reasons why all coins are dropping down in the market. i think this fake news has a intention to us to sell our coins in rush, ( a big dump ) to rapidly drop bitcoin price and they do buy/bought bitcoin including altcoins in the market while we dumping our coins in a low price. that what exactly they want after announcing that fake news. it is just my opinions.

If this is confirmed, then this.is good news for us all. I think the media is always.making juicier news for their ratings, the price went down becuase thry have caused.panic, and those with weak hands sold their bitcoins, causig a drop in price, noe that the price is rallying back, it only means that they made a wrong decision, though the news said it is only for china, we should remember that bitcoin is global, so there are weak hands around the world, they also contributed to the price drop. We should all be informed regarding the news and not be threatened or panic in the instance we heard negative positive news, we still need to do our research in order to check whether the news is true or a fake news. Some sites are trustworthy when it comes to news about bitcoin, but i think we should get thr information first hand, from those people living in china, who are investing in bitcoin as well, but as far as the news goes, i think it is confirmed that china is not going to ban bitcoin, since they already invested a lot on bitcoin, and most of the millionaires in china prefer to use bitcoin for transaction since they need not to go the bank just to transfer and to pay for transactions and taxes. Hopefully such news will stop or first be confirmed by the government so that all of us will be aware and can make a plan on how to deal with it, in case a country will tty to ban bitcoins, and not just panic or be threatened because of fake news.

Even if it is a legit news there will be no effect to bitcoin.  Even if China banned bitcoin, the fact that there were still a lot of supporters bitcoin have from around the globe.  Obviously today its price goes up again and it just shows that whatever threats we heard about bitcoin, it does not affect it.  Actually it is a sort of good news because I was able to buy a bit of bitcoin thus, adding it to my investment.  And considering that bitcoin has been tried and tested that its price continue to goes up, I could have a good profit in the future.

Bitcoin is not banned but they have banned ICO investment in their country, and they just stated the exchanges to stop their exchange for some time till they dont form the rules and regulations to for the exchanges to follow for the further exchange working. That is why some exchanges stopped their work due to they cannot now do the fraud in the trading of coins.

The worth of the bitcoin is increasing more and more. It is not good to panic because none of the worldwide a nation can affect the bitcoin ever; it is providing the freedom in the case of the payment in all the areas of my country. They can only stop the use of the bitcoin at some specific areas but cannot make the bitcoin disappear from their country so I think banning bitcoin can never affect bitcoin as a lot of other countries are using bitcoin

You oversimplify the problem. If you prohibit the exchange of bitcoins at the moment it would mean the death of bitcoin. This is another reason to think about the fact that without the use of bitcoins to purchase goods we will always be under the threat of bankruptcy.

Of course! As we all know China is known for having great businesses around the world. And investing or buying bitcoins is part of the business part. If China will take it out from its citizen and those citizen found out that bitcoin is so worth to put their investment on. They will move to other country for them to invest in bitcoin, thus they will lose businessmen. And after that a chance in decreasing their economy. Big loss isn't it?

To all of you saying cryptocurrency will be doomed if they ban the exchanges, atomic swap was tested and it was successful. Quoting bitcoin magazine:

Atomic Swaps

"Interoperability between Bitcoin and altcoins is not new. So-called atomic swaps (or atomic cross-chain trading) were first described by Tier Nolan back in 2013.

Let’s say Alice has 200 litecoins, but prefers 1 bitcoin. And Bob has 1 bitcoin, but prefers 200 litecoins. So Alice and Bob agree to trade. But neither Alice nor Bob trust each other, so neither wants to be the first to send over the coins. The other may not return the favor.

That’s why Alice and Bob set up an atomic swap.

Atomic swaps utilize a clever trick known as a hash time-locked contract, which in turn leverages the potential of multisignature addresses and time-locks. All this is enabled by the basic scripting language found in Bitcoin and most altcoins, including Litecoin.

In short, Alice and Bob submit transactions to both blockchains: one on Bitcoin and one on Litecoin. The Bitcoin transaction sends 1 bitcoin from Bob to Alice, but Alice can only claim this bitcoin if she reveals a secret number only she knows. The Litecoin transaction sends 200 litecoins from Alice to Bob, but requires the same secret number on both chains.

When Alice claims her bitcoin, she reveals her secret number on the Bitcoin blockchain. And with that same secret number, Bob can, in turn, claim his 200 litecoins.

Even though the transactions are on completely different blockchains, they are effectively linked. Bob just needs to monitor the Bitcoin blockchain to see if Alice claimed her bitcoin so that he can claim his litecoins.

All this works today. But it is a bit of a hassle. Alice and Bob need to find each other to set up the atomic swap, which then requires several transactions on multiple blockchains.

This can be improved.

(Note: there are some extra steps to ensure that Alice actually does claim her bitcoin within a limited amount of time so that Bob can also claim his litecoins in a timely manner. The specifics are beyond the scope of this article; however, for details on how hash time-locked contracts work, see Understanding the Lightning Network, Part 2: Creating the Network.)"

And that's why banning the exchanges won't kill cryptocurrency.

and China reacts as it may be because they can not control or manage how bitcoin lanes are

So there are two different thoughts about the banning of bitcoin in China. May be it is false that china has banned bitcoin because the news says that in the near future china will legalize bitcoin.

Bitcoin has been a major disruptor in China and its socialist monetary policies.
As such, it is believed that the Chinese government has perceived the growing interest of the digital currency as a threat especially as Chinese investors have been seen to buy up Bitcoin and bet against the yuan.
The anonymous source cites “too much disorder” as the reason for the alleged shutdown, echoing the Chinese central bank’s words last week criticizing ICOs for disrupting the country’s financial order.

How is it possible that such a sensible government can ban such a valuable currency that will give them a lot of profit and will boost their economy .All the news that are going viral are not authentic and have no proofs. So don’t stuck into such a debate and invest more to gain more the true investors doesn’t care what other say he have a faith in bitcoin.

Well yes, maybe it is indeed true that China already banned bitcoin.  In any case, should we be worried about it?  Considering the fact that China banned bitcoin and the news from Dimon that bitcoin is fraud, we can see that there is just a little effect on bitcoin price.  Bitcoin is still the most preferred, most trusted, and well known crypto currency.  And even if its price will go down, I still believe that its price will goes up again.  Its price will be a good opportunity for people who are into investment.
