I think that this project will be successful and can be applied in a lot of countries. Does this project only aim the Vietnamese market? Or do you plan to export it in other countries? At first the idea seemed a little silly, I mean, who's going to use blockchain to track live stock and all. The current system seems fine. But reading it more  I guess it could be something useful for the live stock industry if tracking a pig can cost just a dollar.

The TE-FOOD Vietnam project has large publicity in Vietnam and the neighbouring countries, and there are already negotiations about implementation in ASEAN countries as well as in South Africa.

The project is already quite successful in Vietnam, the HCMC government is very determined to improve food quality in many areas.

Using blockchain in livestock tracking has more advantages. Maybe the most important is that a blockchain based ledger is incorruptible, unalterable. Livestock trading is fulll with abuses and frauds all over the world. Using a system which is fed by data by people and sensors and the data can be read, but not altered later means more credibility for the supply chain and the consumers.

Using blockchain for contracting and payment within the supply chain means further advantages, but these are the areas which are much harder for supply chain participants to accept, so a careful planning is needed on how to implement them.

Tracking costs vary in different industries and technologies. For cattles in the USA, RFID ear tag based traceability costs start at $2-5, and this is not a whole chain traceability cost, but just the farmer's cost. We are by far cheaper than that.

I think it is good to have a tracability of livestock. Do you imagine, they won't be able to falsify the expiration date of the meat they are selling? (Maybe they still can, but it will be more difficult and it will be easier to detect)
And you will be able to know the place of origine of the livestock. If there was a virus epidemic. It will be more easier to locate it and destroy the epidemic. So i think it can only be beneficial for everyone. But it needs to be seriously done.

TE-FOOD is quite different from modum. As they write: "The modum sensors record environmental conditions during shipments".

So modum is a generalist, sector independent sensor based tool to track the environmental conditions of shipments.

TE-FOOD is focusing on livestock and fresh food traceability with all logistical and food safety related information. Logging the temperature, location, humidity of transported foods is a part of this process.

Our target markets are also more specific, we are focusing on emerging countries.

You are right, a strong advantage for the supply chain that in case of epidemic, the source of their fresh food products can be checked within minutes, and perform a targeted recall. Currently it takes weeks through trade receipts and delivery notes, that's why wholesalers and retailers have to make recalls in large-scale, because they don't know which part of their inventory came from the specific farms.

Not sure what you all are trying to accomplish? Current food model at least in US is to sell trash and food like substances, why use TE-Food to trace trash pink slime/anti biotics?  Maybe i'm missing something with yall purpose? 

From one side, you are right, in case of country-wide implementation, the access to specific data can be an issue for the customer. To solve this, we have quite extensive functions for setting which data can be publicly available.

But TE-FOOD is, and can be implemented by private companies as well, to trace the source of the food they produce/sell.

• In case of epidemic on a farm/region, supply chain members can separate the fresh food from that specific area in minutes, instead of weeks
• You, as a customer, can check all historical details of the fresh food you bought
• You, as a customer can look for fresh food which is originated from a specific farm you trust, but you didin't have this information earlier
• Supply chain participants can avoid redundant activities (e.g. tagging the animals, double antibiotics use, etc.)
• A lot of food frauds can be mitigated, e.g. water-pumping the livestock to gain weight
• etc.

Yes, we know Ambrosus, they have a good team.

There are some differences between Ambrosus and TE-FOOD.

• Ambrosus is a general food traceability platform, while TE-FOOD is livestock and fresh food specialist.
• Ambrosus targets the whole world, while TE-FOOD is focused on emerging countries
• According to our experience, we are less visionaries and more pragmatists than Ambrosus
• We think that technology is very important, but implementation methodology is more crucial in the success of a traceability project
• We have a working solution, used daily by tens of thousands of people

But overall, given our different strengths, we see Ambrosus more like a potential partner in the future, rather than a competitor.

I really agree with the idea in this project to support fresh food. we never know that the food we eat has been contaminated. and most importantly, food is the best market that will never end.

1. We already have several major food companies amongst our customers:

2. We provide a modern, but very cost effective traceability solution for the supply chain companies (no special hardware is needed), and beside the logistics approach, we track and trace food quality related information as well, so we provide custom processes and functions for the different food categories. These are strong advantages in the market.

3. Another advantage is our sales model. We don't have initial implementation fee, we sell the identification materials, and charge for the transactions made in the system. Companies like it because the costs can be covered by the OPEX budget, it doesn't require CAPEX involvement.

4. TE-FOOD has more implementation models.
- It can be implemented by a company (food producer, retailer) to require traceability data from its suppliers,
- or it can be implemented by a government / authority (trade, food safety, etc.) for the whole supply chain in one or more geographical regions / food categories. For government implementations, TE-FOOD prefers PPP (Public Private Partnership) model, where the government acts as regulatory authority, not as customer. TE-FOOD provides consultation services for the authorities, does the implementation, and trains the supply chain.

Yes, the two are different products of different market segments. Even if one market, the market is so huge, do you think AMB will do better? At least the price is not shown now. We invest more coins in the hope that it will bring us a greater price increase. ;D

I don't know how Ambrosus will perform as a business, it's too early to say as it is still under development, and neither the exact business model, nor the pricing model is known.

I personally suggest you guys to pay more attention building the community on Telegram.
It's important to have the current number of participate go 50x fold by the time ICO completes.

Just last week the largest grocery chain in Canada (Sobeys) voluntary pulled out of their shelves all of their Romain Lettuce as some people in Canada got infected with e-coli after eating lettuce. You can image the money lost and the amount of wasted produce.

Health Canada couldnt trace it back, so they warned the population not to buy.

I even see this becoming requirement by all governments in the developed countries!

You are right, one of the aspects which distinguishes us is that we have solutions to involve governments/authorities into the projects. Since a real farm-to-table traceability what TE-FOOD provides is extremely rare, you are right that it could be required in developed countries as well.

But in developed countries usually there is some kind of traceability, although currently it's almost never farm-to-table. However, in most emerging countries, which give 65% of the world's population, there is no traceability at all. This is one reason we are focusing on emerging countries. Thanks for the question. We have already negotiations in Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, and South Africa.

We experience huge demand for fresh food traceability. Governments are actively looking for solutions, but usually they don't know how to implement country wide food traceability. This is where our implementation methodology and our experience gives us great advantage.

Since the Vietnam project got great publicity in the ASEAN region, those countries on which we are focusing primarily. But when we find an agile and reliable partner in other countries, we move in. There is progress in this area, which we will announce during the next days, so check the thread or our social media channels if you are interested.

Yes, anyone can download the TE-FOOD Consumer app, and check TE-FOOD labels. And exactly as you wrote, you can be able to trace back the food products until they reached America in that case. But it depends on how the food products are sold in retail.

An example: Vietnam is one of the biggest exporter of Pangasius fish. A massive amount of Pangasius fish is exported to Europe. If the European importer buys the fish pre-packaged, then the TE-FOOD label stickers will be on each package, so European consumers can check the origin information. But if the fish is bought in bulk, and the retail packaging is done in an European food processing plant, then no TE-FOOD label will be applied to the retail packages.

We focus on emerging markets, but we don't refuse customers in other markets. In the example above, it can be wise for us to contact the European importer to join TE-FOOD, so they can provide full traceability for the fish products, which is a business advantage for them.

And you are right with RFID. RFID is a great technology, but in the livestock and fresh food industry it is used only on cattles in developed countries, because they live longer, and they are more expensive. For anything else, RFID is way too expensive.

It will be crucial to get the importers onboard. Most of the food gets packaged locally due to local legislative reuqirements (e.g. in the province of Quebec in Canada by law the packaging must include French, etc). However, I have already seen packaged berries (strawberries, etc) with QR on the package (which was promoting the producer and not for traceabilty), so I assume it woildn't be hard to get them to do it. But if they are not aware that this featue exists, they won't incorporate it in the packaging.

As you mentioned, the consumers in the developing countries are not cocnerned that much with the food they are buying, so it might take a while for this to pick up. But in America this is huge - I can easily see 200 000 000+ americans using the app at the grocery stores if there are enough stamped products on the shelves.

I hope the ICO is a success that would allow/convince you to expand beyond your target market.

You are right, we will try to get importers onboard. In a globalized economy the source of even a fresh food can be anywhere in the world.

Sorry, that's not what I wanted to say. The reality is quite the opposite. As the number of middle class grows constantly in the emerging countries, there is a massive pressure on the governments to wastly improve food security. That's why we saw tremendous interest from governmeents in many emerging countries to implement fresh food traceability. Their problem is that they don't know how to do it. They have to work out regulation, enforcement, sanctioning, to fit in the processes into a proper government body, the role of the authority in the system, etc. This is why we write so many times that to be successful in this industry is 30-40% technology, and 60-70% implementation methodology. And we have a proper, experience based methodology, which focuses on emerging countries.

Developed countries are more difficult markets from many viewpoints. A lot of companies have internal traceability systems (although those are focusing on logistics, not food quality, and are not open to third parties, let alone consumers), and need strong arguments to undertake additional work to integrate to a new traceability system. Since food frauds are not so common in developed countries as they are in the developing ones, the consumer pressure is not as strong.

In many cases, consumers in developed countries think that food traceability is a solved problem in their country. But if you read about it, you see that, for example in the U.S. cattle traceability is mandatory only between farms and slaughterhouses, and only if the livestock crosses state borders. You can't call it farm-to-table.

A really good ICO with a product in high demand. I personally would be even ready to pay a bit extra to know the history of piece of meat I am trying to buy. While TE-Foods is even cost effective.

This "history" of the product you are trying to buy will be written on the blockchain if I understand correctly. Who will be writing this data? Producer, trasnporter, veterinarian? How would we know his data written are correct (that the food used for cows was bio and not some steriods for example)?

A friend of mine suggested that I take a closer look at this project.
As for what I managed to read about it, I am very impressed with the idea and the potential real life adoption of the product.

The completely new approach that covers a bigger picture in the food industry, the usage commodity of the app itself and a real value and usage of the token, gives this project a big advantage before it`s ˝competitors˝, such as Wabi for example.
I think that based on today`s lifestyle and the population growing even faster that predicted, there will be more and more stricter controls about the food that is produced and offered to the end customer. And not only will there be a stricter inspection by the government authorities, but more and more people will wanna know more about what they eat, and where the food comes from. The fact that Te-food not only focuses on consumers usage,  but also on supply chain companies and governments authorities, gives this project just another added value.

I would also like to point out that the decision of the team, to focus on the emerging countries first, where the majority of food frauds are executed is simply great. There for, the practical usage of the product will eventually benefit the population of those countries and the product it` self will begin it`s adoption. Which in my opinion is one of the greatest challenges. In this case will be a win-win situation. Well adopted product will definitely benefit the consumers food recognition and reduce food frauds.

Seeing it from both perspectives; as an investor and a potential product user, talking for myself I see no reason not to invest. In this case I can support the team in their work and later on use the tokens for the purpose of using the product. I also believe that along the way I may even earn some money by trading a small amount of the bought tokens.
I missed the ICO opportunity to be already part of this amazing project, but will definitely keep an eye for when the tokens hit some exchanges so I can invest in the early stages of this food revolution.

Overall the team did a very good job, this in contrary to alot of other ico’s. The telegram group was muted upfront to encounter scammers. The last digits of the ethereum adress was also given out upfront to ensure people wouldn’t send to the wrong adress. The gwei usage and gas limit settings where capped at 50 gwei + 200K gas to avoid a typical gaswar. To participate, KYC and whitelisting was needed. This was stopped at 14/02, to protect the investment of early followers. Max cap at ico was set at 1eth/contributor to give alot of people the possibility to be part of this happening. After 14minutes, the 4128eth were reached, a great succes. The tokens are released and locked for 14days. Many people are always afraid of high pre-sale bonusses. In this case, these discounts were offset by the volatile ethereum market during the presale until the public sale. The difference is only 10% which should give alot of people confidence. 20.000 ether was rejected during the presale, which is as big as the total hardcap. Why should Te-Food be listed on a big exchange

They raised a decent amount of funds for market expanse. Not for filling their own pocket, as they could easily raise 2–3 times the hardcap amount. Instead they declined alot of big offers. This means there will be a big demand. This would suit both parties obviously. Getting on a decent exchange is good for gaining attention by other investors, which means growth, more users and more market penetration.

As mentioned above, there is already a working product which is being used. The product itself is brilliant. Helping the world trough blockchain, more projects like this in media would bring benifits for the whole cryptocurrency market as well. We joined a consortium to develop a mobile app based meat quality checker application for consumers. The consortium won more than 1 million USD national R&D grant. Although this is an R&D project, therefore the output is uncertain, we believe such application can get TE-FOOD a lot of publicity and a new revenue source.

FAO, through the Global Strategy to improve Agriculture and Rural Statistics, and TE-FOOD International GmbH. signed a Memorandum of Understanding to cooperate in several activities:

As the first step, the Parties will contribute to a better understanding of blockchain technology, and its implications for the statisticans responsible for official statistics of the livestock sector.

The livestock sector contributes to 40 percent of the global value of agricultural output. It supports the livelihoods and food security of almost 1.3 billion people. It provides opportunities for sustainable agricultural development, poverty eradication and food security gains.

FAO and TE-FOOD will conceptualize and develop a pilot case based on the pig statistics sector in Vietnam, including the General Statistics Office, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam, and the Australian Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) through its Data Innovation Group (Data61).


Based on the existing system put in place by TE-FOOD in Southern Viet Nam, parties will analyse the feasibility, the scalability and the sustainability of using existing registers and information made available through the distributed ledger from an official statistical perspective.

They will analyse the cost effectiveness of the blockchain technology in comparison with other administrative data technologies used in the livestock sector, then make recommendations and discuss possible improvements.

Finally, parties will create a further research agenda and proposals for scaling up these approaches in other countries and other situations proposed.

The main thing is not to recognize the project's tokens as valuable paper  ;D The project was recommended to me for investment as one of the most promising projects of the year, but I'm doubt.

PROBLEM
One problem facing many cryptos is regulators classifying tokens as a security.  This reduces token liquidity overall.  Exchanges can not as easily list the token to trade.

Silly me, I see now that having a masternode is a serious shit and not something simple like just staking, i bought some tefood coins hoping there will be some staking rewards but I see now its much more complicated. I will just hodl my tfd then.

There is a common argument amongst crypto enthusiasts, that all blockchain based supply chain solution providers are competitors. We think the real competition comes from elsewhere, and there can be synergies with other crypto companies which make all of us stronger.

Right now Te-food is currently using a centralized database, which works well as long as they stay in select markets like Vietnam. But since they want to go global they're going to use a blockchain to keep cost down whilst at the same time keeping the quality of information up (from what I understand).

This is a real project in which the security of the food system is indeed the technology that is needed across the world mainly by developing countries, with the blockchain system on food supply will reduce the amount of fraud happens, and guarantee feed quality because consumers can access directly to the feed supply chains and costs are low, I am very excited waiting for this blockchain to appear.

It's most likely going to stay closed source given this is a company building their own chain and it will be a source of income. From a business perspective there's no real advantage to going open source other than making it easier for your competitors.

This partnership with United Nations is another proof of the effectiveness of the project and necessity when it is about tracking of food supplies and everything is related to it. Absolutely big news and it has been already few days since it was announced but market's situation didn't let it get attention only people having interest are aware of progress. It is good for early adopters on the other hand.

I have read the last update it contains everything what is coming next and how things are going to move in next three months. It is just little time since I started to accumulate for run masternode though I don't have idea how many tokens are required for that. What are your predictions for the price in the coming moths for te-food token? At one cent and 5 million usd marketcap it has a lot of room to grow,dont yout think  8)

I will predict what is my target too and keeping current marketcap, total supply of tokens and price in mind and the work they are doing everything at one place. I will say when next altcoin rally will start should take TFD to at least at $1. This is a thing of speculation but we are going towards that phase so talking about it isn't bad after for this everything is investing and supporting good projects.

I'm bullish on this project because of hard work of the team and no doubt tech always make its way to explode and grow. This is on my radar they have good solution to play very important role to provide secure and transparent way to run big program on this platform.

Of course this launch of testnet of Te-Food is big thing and will force people to buy those were still waiting for major release or update. Now after launch of testnet next step automatically comes beta on main net or release directly on mainet depend on the results from this testing. I have read the medium article where it was told a whole new chain has been developed for traceability for next steps.

They believe that one year down the road that blockchain and it's tech will be far superior, so they've partnered with projects like Tomo to look into a future proof solution after getting their own chain (food chain) up and running.

I found good article on masternode to cover by every single details one can be interested in. Though this is first time I have seen such strict criteria for becoming masternode contractor with KYC and signing contract. One thing I found still missing is the amount of TFD tokens  to run masternode. Even if it was discussed before but mentioning it again could be more effective.

Indian market alone is very big and if some part of that is covered by Te-Food even this will be much more than enough. This project is entering in emerging market in steps and once they all will be connected in few months time. Results from this hard work will begin to see suddenly at surface. It is like uncovered opportunity those can understand at this stage.

So Te-Food blockchain is approaching very fast and it is matter of days now.
