10k was mined for bounties and for giveaways for promoters. The others must have been mined as soon as it was released. Very fast block times. Orphans will be common for the first but guys, so be paitent.

Another clonecoin with a ridiculously low difficulty at release. Don't even bother trying for the first ~6 hours, it's 100% orphans/rejects like all the others. Stevenlam is raping the network while everyone else just waits until he premines however much he wants.

Well that person or few people tend to hog right off... only to see it go to exchange and dump the shit out of it deflating the price.

So yes coins might survive... but much much lower price killing the little guy.

Here's my predicition. After 2 or 3 hours, Stevenlam, our botnet friend, will create a thread, WTS, 100k HYC. Those who want a K for their collection, will buy it from him...Then, a couple hours later, more WTS threads will be started...People will buy, here and there, but as time goes on, they will get buried. By noon tomorrow, this thread will be buried, somone else will release a new shit coin, and the cycle will repeat ::)

How many times are we going to do this until someone actually fixes the problem? Just give Stevenlam his 10k coins from a premine or something so the other 99% of people don't get nothing but orphans for the first few hours. If you set the difficulty at 0.0001 to start you're basically locking most people out for several hours.

So, these coins with value. Did they not start as every other coin did? Some coins make it because of their name, some make it because of their design, and some make it just becasue people want it to. If you don't like this coin. Then why waste your time instead of hashing power writing in this post?

Guys if there was a way to limit orphans and rejects, believe me I would. Give it time, and patience, and the coin will succeed. If there was a way to stop botnet's, I would stop them, but it is a fact of life. :(

Actually, LKY stopped him in his tracks,with a rapidly increasing diff. He got a lot, but no where near the ammount of other coins. Again, pay attention. Atleast do a little research, instead of just giving Hazard a coin idea, on a whim, because you think it will make you rich, quick. If you haven't noticed, people are catching on. Its over.

Ok, maybe I don't understand why mining works the way it does.

Why would only one person with a massively capable HW setup be able to mine a coin with a very low difficulty and everyone else with less powerful HW only get rejects and orphans?

The only way that I see this making sense is that the one with the powerful HW setup also has a bad-ass network connection and/or is very close to where the block-chain is hosted.  My guess is that the HW setup matters only a little compared to the network connection.

Friend? I would refer to him as a petty criminal.
Lemme guess people are mining for him with out them knowing?

I think you guys are completely missing the point here...

My guess is that the HW setup matters only a little compared to the network connection.

because your hardware starts working on a share....by the time your done hashing with a slower computer and turn in the work... they guy with more hash power has already turned that same one in

In case anyone hasn't realize, it is not bitcointalk miners "jumping on this" but, rather, a botnet that the "developer" (always a newbie) starts up with his friends the instant a coin is released.

Result = 6,000 blocks mined before anyone else can even sneeze

Let me just say this before it escalates any further: Not everyone shares your bottom of the barrel ideals...

Friend? I would refer to him as a petty criminal.

Whine, bitch, moan. You're just mad cause you don't have a botnet.

It's against the law you fool.

Are you for real? That's how they roll nowadays. Get with the program man.
You want to compete with the guy with V8 engine car next door? You need to get a V12 Engine Ferrari.
You need to get yourself a better botnet to survive in this shitcoin race dude.

Well if you approve of stealing from someone to get an advantage, you are truly a scumbag.

Wow, stealing ten cents worth of electricity is SO WRONG.

LOL no. Your stealing hardware usage too. You have control over someone elses property without permission.

From people too stupid to secure their machines and more than likely download and execute pretty much anything. They deserve it.

LOL so if some lady is carrying her purse in her hand I can just run up and take it from her because she didnt secure it properly over arm and around the neck? Cuz she did not secure her purse like she should have?

So, you don't download torrents...Because that's stealing too

Not the same thing. People who DL torrents 99% of them do not sell them for profit.

Haha what a saint.

He is. That should prove he is not a greedy "botnet" hoarder like some of you seem to think he is. All of these coins will go to bounties and to people who help promote the coin. The difficulty will go up, and you won't have to worry about so many orphans with a low timed coin. :)

sounds like you're the perfect demographic that these coins target. How do you know all these coins will go to bounties? Did you consider the possibility that maybe he wants to create that appearance, to attract people like you to the coin so in 2hours - 2 days he can dump all his coins at your expense?

Because I created the coin, and I would have premined MUCH more coin if I were gonna dump it all :\

It IS the same thing. It doesn't matter whether I steal a lady's purse and get money from it, or if I just hang it on my Christmas tree, it's still theft. So if you're against stealing ten cents worth of electricity, you're against torrenting media.

You are getting something for free, that normally, you would have to pay for. The owner of said media, is not getting paid, you are stealing money from them.

Source code looks clean I'm not seeing a scam like we did with Sex Coin:

int64 static GetBlockValue(int nHeight, int64 nFees)
{
    int64 nSubsidy = 25 * COIN;

    return nSubsidy + nFees;
}

Each block is worth exactly 25 coins

Hm... Why don't coins get released at say, 5 difficulty, let everyone get setup, then drop to 0.5 difficulty or 1 difficulty after block 500 or so.  I would think that is such a fair idea, so everyone is mining when the difficulty is set to drop.  Then you can go with whatever other type of scale you want.

Setting up for solo mining:
Create a hypercoin.conf file in %Appdata%/Roaming/hypercoin/
rpcuser=username
rpcpassword=password
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rcpallowip=192.168.1.*
rpcport=7452
port=7453
daemon=1
server=1
gen=0
addnode=82.211.31.244

Wait a sec... aren't the ports WRONG in the original post?! I see the wallet client using 17453 not 7453. If that's the case wouldn't it make sense to make rpcport=17452?

(offline for a couple of hours but I'll be back later)

This seems like an OK coin:

1. Very small premine (only 128k TOTAL are in circulation right now)

2. Windows client, with correct port opened, made 65 connections

3. Low orphan/reject rates at difficulty of 0.11170942

4. Low block reward (25). No random blocks.  No huge early blocks.

5. 40 seconds is a good time between blocks.  Long enough to be secure but fast enough to facilitate quick transactions

6. Working windows client and working linux code at launch

7. Cool name and icon

8. Source on github instead of megafileshare

I don't agree.  Number 6 on your list is correct, but with one caveat.  The instructions for mining the coin which instruct all miners which ports are used were incorrect.  Only those of us that noticed the windows client using a different port were able to mine.  These kind of mistakes with the pre-mine don't make this a very good launch IMO.

True but I consider that trivial - anyone smart enough to forward a port on their router is going to know how to run the getpeerinfo command (or check the source...)

That would be awesome! Lets avoid the DGC P2Pool situation where everyone is on their own. Will work on this after dinner...which is getting cold because I cant get off the forum :)

Lol, I know how you feel!

P2Pool is now up and running:

http://107.20.187.147:9500/static/

usage:

cgminer --scrypt -o http://107.20.187.147:9500 -u YOURHYCADDRESS+0.0012 -p x --queue 0

the +0.0012 is optional that is a reduced difficulty in case you get too many orphans/rejects

Title: Re: [ANN] HyperCoin - HYC - Windows Client Included
Post by: Etheric on May 29, 2013, 04:10:18 AM
This seems like an OK coin:

1. Very small premine (only 128k TOTAL are in circulation right now)
3. Low orphan/reject rates at difficulty of 0.11170942
4. Low block reward (25). No random blocks.  No huge early blocks.
5. 40 seconds is a good time between blocks.  Long enough to be secure but fast enough to facilitate quick transactions
8. Source on github instead of megafileshare

These are my favorite points. Fuck it, I'm in.

Indeed. Me too!

Well, could not get my miner to remote connect to the wallet (different machines). It's working for others but I imagine most have their wallets loaded onto the same computer as their miners. I like to isolate the wallets.

Noticed the wallet uses the default ports of:

rpcport=7452
port=17453

Maybe the developer messed up a little there. Also noticed that other coins open up two connections for each port. IPv4 and IPv6. This one only does IPv4 on 17453. No big deal..just observations.

would like to add my own input on this coin.

It's a junk to try to mine this coin solo.  Even at low difficulties, my 10Mhz didn't get and blocks.  I followed the stupid configs set above also.

I ran my rig on this for a good 15 minutes.  It should have produced a few blocks with that much power on it.

Don't waste your time on this coin.  Move along

What is the plan with this coin?

I don't mean to sound short or dismissive here, I've thrown a few hundred KH at it, but it doesn't seem to have much, if any market value. There is a blank wiki and a blank website so far and no one seems to be buying or selling.

Where do people see this going? Should I mine this or should I move on?

There have been an awful lot of these alternative coins lately and exchanges aren't picking them up, I know that requires impetus but how is that to occur when it's spread so thinly around so many coins.

And to answer all questions. It is picking up speed. Look at the network hashrate at http://hyc.scryptmining.com/ it is the highest on the network. The mac client is almost finished as is the linux compiled qt. There is a few gambling sites takingg it soon, and it will be listed shortly on an exchange. Just go over to mcxnow and see the support the people have for it IMO. It has been great.

Apparently it doesn't work. Never sends an email to confirm...but really? Enter an email? The whole point of cryptos is anonymity.

Check your junk mail folder. The email setup is kind of bare bones and the sent messages are highly likely to get blocked...

And there are no captcha or ads on purpose... why does every thing have to have ads all over it!? ;)

Email issues should be resolved now... more than likely the few people who did not get the confirmation emails are using hosts that drop if the sending server does not have a reverse PTR. I've added the reverse PTR finally... so should be smooth sailing now.

I will manually send the few HyperCoins out for those who have not confirmed an email address.
Thanks guys

Global Hashrate: 65,011 KH/s

Pool Hashrate: 99,412 KH/s

and

Manual cash-out is temporarily disabled. You can set an automatic threshold to your current balance and it will be sent out as expected. This will be re-enabled very soon!

Do not use Scryptminer. Smalltimeminer seems to be working fine for me on getwork. Scryptminer is not paying out ATM because of an attack/hack or something so I updated the OP.

Any continued problems with http://hyc.scryptmining.com please let me know. We went through a few hiccups, however NO coins should have ever been lost or anything else of the sort. The pool continued solving blocks throughout the problems, and automatic payout should be working as expected.

I still need to work on the manual payout option, and will re-enable that once I have the problem with it cleared up. (setting an automatic threshold at or below your current value sends out ALL coins in your balance on next site update, ie: 60-120seconds.  An option for the time being)

Please report any new issues currently happening so I can take a look!

automatic payments - doesn't works or me!

ah thanks, was just about to post that its already been sent :)

There should be no further delays in payments in terms of auto payouts.   There were a number of blocks causing a logjam that I will be processing manually later tonight when I get a minute.  But anyt new blocks as of 45min or so ago should be paying out perfectly fine, and any old balances can/should be able to auto-payout any time you'd like.

To people who have pm'd me and not got a response yet, sorry, I've been busy trying to address the problems.  I hope I have resolved your issues in the process.  If not, please feel free to re-send.  I will eventually get all of you a reply either way.

Thanks again for people's patience and mining support @ the pool.  Once the manual stuff is cleaned up and things are again confirmed smooth, I'll be doing a bunch of giveaways and other things with the pool to show my appreciation.

To have working p2pool network (not just a set of single nodes), everyone must use the same networks.py!

My wallet is hosed with 10,990 HYCs stuck inside. I can't send a HYC or receive any HYC. I have a pending confirmation that has been pending since 6/10/2013 13:48 and I have 2 active connections to the HYC network. Wallet out of sync always all the time even after it scans the blocks with connections.

Thats odd I have 54 connections on my wallet? Did you forward the ports? Thats what I had to do with my wallets in order to get all the connections. Try that and reboot your wallet.

Why would the ports have to be forwarded if it worked without forwarding ports before? No other wallet I use needs to have ports forwarded.

No idea. But i've always had to forward the ports on my wallet in orderr to get max connections. You can also add this node if you would like.  -addnode=84.200.17.243

Glad to hear! There is a patch in the workigns now to make sure that that will never happen again and to also make the coin just that much better. So keep an eye out for any posts for the updated client. I will make an announcement and I will post here to give you all new links from github to the fixed clients. :)

It doesn't work.

It stalls at block 863. It doesn't matter how many peer connections there are.

Zacho is working on the bug. hypercoinpool should take new users since the pool hashrate is not above the network hashrate.
Pool Hashrate: 4.66 MH/s
Network Hashrate: 5.28 Mh/s

Once things are fixed up with the coin I plan to re-open my pool, if there is still interest.   Web portion of the old one is still up and running, will re-open the mining when the new client is ready.

Ah, so it's not something I did or neglected to do...  well, that's somewhat of a relief... except I am/was holding a heck of a lot of hypercoins :/

DEAD / DYING :

-HYC Hypercoin-LTC clone + premine. dying of extremely low hashrate
-ELACoin- progtresive inlfation. tripple-failed launch - DOA
-FTC Gamecoin- yes, FTC. unfinished FTC clone , 51%'ed on launch. Ongoing tries for revival unde GME ticker.
-LQC Liquidcoin made to be very fast at constant difficulty, dead [pool closed, exchange closed]
-SC Solidcoin - dying (10-20% fee), designed to improove IxCoin, hard to be neutral on this one, 1.0 was a premine scam, 2.0 says BTC is pyramid scheme.
-GG Geist Geld experiment on BTC algorithm, how fast can it go? just for sience.
-TBX Tenebrix interesting idea of cpu-friendly mining with scrypt, but premined with 7.7milion coins
-FBX Fairbrix - Tenebrix without the premine, bad launch,  alive but little support.
-I0C I0coin - ixcoin without the premine. Dead
-CLC Coiledcoin - some nice ideas, but killed in 51% attack
-RUC Rucoin - copy of bitcoin, only difference is that it was developed in russian not english.than reborn much different, not confirmed if it is the same blockchain,  both scrypt[like LTC] and sha256d , nice client !warning! not opensource ! dying again
-TimeKoin - PHP webbased coin, alive but not used or traded.
-Beertokens -abitious [impossible?] try to stabilize price against commodity.
-MMM MMMcoin - Dead coin by notorious scamer SPMavrodi, named "yes we can" "my mozem mnogoye"

HYC is at the top of the list, damn! I have over 11k HYC stuck in my wallet. :(

Time of death?

2013-06-16 19:23:50 according to http://explorer.hycco.in/chain/Hypercoin

Combination of forked client not working and miners abandoning coin.

EDIT: If someone wants to pay me my daily mining income to keep the blockchain moving PM me. I have about 4.25 MH/sec available for around 0.2 BTC/day.

I don't really believe that. I think it just checks timestamps between the most recent blocks. I know it's not accurate because I've see it report less than I was mining on other coins.

For what it's worth, I'm going to try to mine 6 blocks of HYC today to clear the backlog of transactions. If anyone feels like donating for my trouble: HYC: HEyDudeKj77S9izdQRp8YevpV3hFJRszv5 BTC: 1HYCcpRWWzXSHrS79ZeDhjPWdko1HwojWj LTC: LaSTHAshic8NMM7oJLxfWWdb6HWjSrBDoW.

I hope to get 6 blocks in about 3 hours. I've got 4.5MH on it.

Good luck. Pretty sure there's more to the failure than low hash rate though...

Looks like my daemons aren't peered up with any other clients :( I've gotten 3 blocks but it may be futile. Looks like I may be mining my own little fork.

I've got nodes at 70.98.114.237 & 70.98.114.229 if anyone wants to

addnode=70.98.114.237
addnode=70.98.114.229

in their hypercoin.conf

EDIT: I stopped mining until I can get more connections to the HYC network. Will try again later if I can get some peers connected.

EDIT2: I mined 5 blocks but I still don't have many connections. I did see one new one. I zipped a current blockchain from the new client on my windows box. You can get it here (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/22144135/HYC_blockchain.zip) and put it in %APPDATA%\Hypercoin and maybe get the fork to sync and connect to the network. Unless Zacho comes back and gets things on track I suspect HYC is dead. I also emailed BigVern at Cryptsy to see if we could work together on getting the network back in tact.

hypercoinpool.com & cryptsy.com are in sync with the block explorer for block #20449

Best thing to do is to download the hypercoin-fork version, remove your peers.dat file, add "addnode=70.98.114.237" to your config, and start up the daemon.   It should sync up.

This does not work for me.  I connected directly to vern's node and it is stuck on the 863 block.  What is your node? I will try that if anyone has another synced client as well.

I see the wallet on crypsy.com but can we trade on there, I cannot find the trading!! Maybe i should change my glasses or would someone post a link to it for me please.
Thanks.
