Title: £500 to spend, on Ether or Bitcoin?
Post by: rafter_01 on September 21, 2017, 08:27:40 AM
Hi All,

I have just over £500 to spend and I'm not sure where I should be investing this.

Do I buy a small fraction of a bitcoin or buy 2 ethers?

What would you do?

I'm looking for some long term investment.

Also, i'm hoping to contribute £100 per month towards either one but not sure which direction I should be taking.

Many Thanks

I replied to a similar thread yesterday. if you research a little you will find good answers to this kind of question around the forum.
Anyway, as you are new and still adjusting to the forum i´ll leave my opinion and don´t take it as finantial advice. Just an opinion form a random guy.
1st: i´m a little ceptic about ETH. so i tend to prefer other smart contract platforms.
2nd: I try to diversify so to answer you directly i would buy a little of both. even with 500pounds.
3rd: even with 500 pounds i would diversify even further and would throw some pocket change into a small project of my choosing. I can think of DGB or XBY but there are dozens really. That way you get the security of the biggest crypto, BTC, diversify to a well established alt in ETH and make a riskier investment in a smaller coin that could pump for huge profit.

Why not to go to the altcoin if you are having limited amount to invest in the crypto, as far as i can see the ether and bitcoin looks same right now, but the price of bitcoin was too high if you are not having a lot of money invest in both will never give you a decent profit

Hey Thanks for your response.

I have already invested in altcoins such XEM, SIA, IOTA, DOGE, VERGE & RIPPLE.

I have £500 left to invest and bitcoin and Ether seem to be the ones that will around for a long time. So I was hoping to have some high level Cryptos in my portfolio.

BTC is so high atm, ?500 wouldn't do much for me. Unless I put the initial ?500 in BTC and added ?100 per month to it?!! But what if the BTC price doubles in a short period that would mean my buy would be peanuts.

So confusing :)

Almost every month you can see a change in price on bitcoin. If you are going to observe there is a decrease on the price of bitcoin but it always recovers. And when you're going to consider the foundation of bitcoin, it is probably the most firm coin in the cryptocurrencies. There is a bigger chances that your investment will double in short time as well.

500£ is quite a small investment for bitcoin but it will profit too.

I know £500 is small but for the current price of a BTC (approx. £2900) that is just over 17%.

Imagine BTC price went up to £5000, 17% would become £850.

I'll be adding £100 per month to it too

Also, do I put the money in now or wait for the next crash if there will be one?

Cheers

I'd recommend ETH

With ETH you can more easily invest in ICO's if you decide to do so

you can divide it by five and invest hundred to five different ICO's (which you've researched carefully and believe will have a future)

you'll have higher return on investment this way than just holding ETH or BTC

Why not on both £250 on bitcoin and £250 on ethereum it is more safe at that way and more practical I think. You can be sure of profit at that than putting all in one investments because they're performing good at this moment. If your intentions is to hold that would be the best option that you can be. Hope you got your answer and turn advantageous to you.

thanks for your advice but my only worry is, ether might just randomly die out whereas I'm confident BTC wont.

If you have already a set of altcoins in your portfolio then go all in on BTC with the rest. Remember that Bitcoin is king and if Bitcoin crashes all of your alts will crash. Bitcoin is going to the moon in the long term, that is guaranteed. Most alts will fail. Sure some of the alts will make people rich overnight, but the odds are against you.

Buy and hold BTC long term for guaranteed riches.

that's quite hard if you want one of them could provide contribute £100 per month because the movement market price for Ether and bitcoin quite unpredictable and also there is no guarantee holding for them will profitable for long term however if you're dare i did suggest to you just stick to bitcoin

Based on the responses you made here, you have some insights and quiet made an analyzation about what really best based on your preferences.

Trust your judgement since you can backup it. Investing in Bitcoin covered the majority of your decision so just push and pursue since after all we are talking about long term investment here.

With BTC goping to such high levels i think we have to get used to think in SATS sometimes. 500pounds is not huge, but i dont think is that low either. And in my opinion BTC is a MUST in a crypto portfolio. For several reasons, from wich i can add 2 or 3..

BTC is the most widespread entry point for cryptos along with ETH for ICO´s.
BTC has proved itself overtime, so it is not expected to "die" anytime soon.
Being crypto a risky investment, i see BTC as some sort of refuge, so the less risky in a risky world.

Divide that money into two and use the divided amount to invest in ether and also in bitcoin so you will not miss the possible outcomes in the market of ether and bitcoin and i think that you can get a good gain in those two if you will just keep those two for long term.

Diversify your investment in both of the currencies. They both are best long term bet. £250-£250 in both will be a good start. In future keep on increasing both of your holdings by investing more. Diversification is simple and the best strategy in investment.

Then that's good you can focus on bitcoin alone, you have decided already and I think that's a better decision. Bitcoin is rapidly increasing than any alternative coin available and have small risked of vanishing not like ethereum but I think eth has also good future but not for me either.

Thank you for the responses so far.

Shall I invest now or wait for the next crash or dip? If there is going to be one?

No one can answer you that directly on numbers because bitcoin is unpredictable. But if you planned to hold as I said at the first reply, you can buy now as bitcoin has bright future ahead of it.

There would be always a dip for a price either on bitcoin or etherium this is why we should really be attentive on this kind of events because on this movements we can possibly make money on easy way but waiting or knowing the best spot is the hardest part for a trader. If you do lack knowledge and experience you would find out to be a challenge for you. Price increase and price decrease symbolizes a healthy market.

I'll just tell you what I would do if I were in your place, so that doesn't mean it's the correct thing.
I would just buy £500 worth of Bitcoin and keep buying whenever I have money to spare.

I'm personally really not a big fan of ETH and I think that it's very possible that we'll see something going wrong with it due to vulnerabilities in the future.

My advice to you will be to divide that capital that you are willing to invest in two parts. Keep part one for bitcoin and part two for ethereum. Both are good according to me for a long term investment. But bitcoin price is currently high so my advice is to keep a buy order in some exchange at lower price and wait for that price to touch - since the market is unstable at the moment you may just be lucky and get hold of some BTC. As for ethereum, it is obviously a good choice for long term hence but it and sell it when it touches 350$

I dont use bittrex so you have to figure this out yourself - but I will explain what I meant again : I checked bitcoin price is above 3800USD/BTC at the moment. So place an order to buy bitcoin at a lower price than this. This price is too big and the profit margin at this price will be smaller when you sell. But if you are desperate you can try buying at this price as well, no worries.

What I suggest you is to place buy order of BTC in exchange for USD at price lower than this - it will complete only when the price is touched - that is a risk because it may never go down again. You have to decide whether you are desperate to buy it at current price or wish to wait since at lower price same volume of USD will give you bigger volume of BTC.

I hope you understood my point.

Take invest now, if you think doesn't want to complicated and just invest & holds, just put it all on BTC.
But if you looking to using in trading, you can spare 50:50 in btc & Eth

my advice is buying bitcoins but you can also do Altcoin/BTC trading if you have some free time.when ethereum changes PoW protocol with PoS it will reach the end.(my guess)

Why Bitcoins ?

its in rising trend since long time ( late 2015,last quarter) .. and this trend is directly proportional to the awareness of bitcoin.

its getting more attention day by day .. more people joining to it day by day .. so its price is growing.

Both are likely to move in tangent, however, BTC has a lot more history and backing. I would start there, then diversify into other coins.

Its up to you what coin do you want to buy or what coin is better for you and what do you think will give you high profit in the future. Because bitcoin and ethereum is both good coin and potential coin and for sure those people have that will earn a lot of profit . So its better if you buy bitcoin and buy also ethereum . But if you doubt its better make a research so you can know what coin is better.

Why not both? Bitcoin and Ethereum are very popular coin on market. Bitcoin drops a bit. But i think it begins to rise again. Ethereum seems very stable. Just waiting for the big announcement. If were you, i will go 50/50. Bitcoin when crash, the altcoins are rising. So if you fall on Bitcoin. Ethereum can cover your loss since altcoins are rising. It's more safe than buying one coin alone. Remember, don't put all your eggs on one basket.

Anyway, the are a lot of good coins out there. STRAT, WAVES, XMR or XEM. They are cheap and will give you good profit in the long run. But if you want to be more safe. Buy Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Just split your investment to avoid huge loss in case of bear market. Why put all eggs in single basket? Make a smart investment for better ROI but dont forget to do your homework.Dont invest amount which you cant afford to lose..

definitely not putting my eggs one basket.

Any money invested will not put me on the street. (hopefully :) )

If you're looking to buy for the longer term, I'd go with BTC. I actually did buy a full coin when it was $2100 and then again when it was $4000. I have since also bought ETH but I didn't "feel" it (as an investment) like I feel for BTC.

One thing though, when the price goes down after buying, I've never felt like "oh no, I lost my money". The annoyance for me comes from not being able to purchase MORE coins at a lower price because I bought high. In other words my thinking shifts from fiat value to crypto value and how many coins I can own.

for what you bother yourself by dividing your investment ,, I think more to invest in one place (coin) and if one moment happened the price suddenly down we can increase the investment amount ,, and keep repeat when back down .. until the moment where we will get multiple benefits

Price is irrelevant. The question is what is going to return more over time, and price has no bearing on that. A 15% gain is a 15% gain, no matter if your starting base is $500 or $1,000,000. Buying an altcoin just because it costs less per coin doesn't mean it's going to go up more percentage-wise. Bitcoin is denominated to 8 decimal places, so there's no concern about not being able to buy "enough" to justify the purchase. Your main concern is the percent of price appreciation, not the actual dollar amount change.

Well, I suppose the profit is going to be the same, cause if they rise the same. You will buy small amount of bitcoin but the price will rise a lot, but you can but bigger amount of Etherum which price will rise so much, but you will have big amount of coins. But on your place I would use Bitcoin, cause of I'm more sure about this coin.

if you looking for profits should buy a quality token or altcoin, if only have a small amount of capital. avoid buying bitcoins and keep them because bitcoin have high fluktuatif value, or you can invest in mining.

I think you should diversify your portfolio and invest half of the amount in Bitcoin and other half in ethereum. Bitcoins is the mother of all crypto and hence is popular whereas ethereum is the platform holding most ICOs and hence is a very widely used platform.

Title: Re: £500 to spend, on Ether or Bitcoin?

Cut the amount in three halves. Invest first in Bitcoin, second in Ethereum and third in ICO (look for some promising one and you will make profit for sure). After a month compare your investments and you will have the answer. Then shift all the money to most productive one.
Why to believe on others suggestion. Cast your own research.

Why not both? Bitcoin and ETH are close contenders and both are excellent choice for future investment as well. So I would suggest you to split up your total invest-able money and buy into both bitcoin and ETH. If you are thinking about long term investment, then nothing like it! Also I suggest you to split up your monthly investment of 100 Euro in to two parts and invest in to both. This way you will be able to average out your investment price.

I am doing the same thing. Even though I started in bitcoin since a long time now, but recently started with ETH. I am putting 70% in to bitcoin and rest 30% of the monthly amount in to ETH now. Based on the market dynamics, I may change the percentage but that looks good as of now.

That is good idea but for me it is not a good idea to invest both if you are wanted to be safe and hold your bitcoin for a long time for better investment you should choose only invest in bitcoin because the movement compare ethereum and bitcoin is different. as you can seen the movement of the price of bitcoin is more high than the movement of ethereum for a longer period of time..
So the best choice to invest is bitcoin ..

I would split it as well.
Maybe 25% ether and 75% bitcoin. Ether seems to be cheaper at the moment than bitcoin, but we live in uncertain times.
That is why the bigger parte of money would go into the more stable currency at the moment.

I would go all in with Bitcoin. Sure it's usually not advised to go all in with one coin, but Bitcoin is valued much more. The price is down now but it'll go back up. When the price rises you could always use the profit gained and put that into other Ether.

Ethereum was $220 a few days ago, and now it is $290 aproximately, it is about 35% - 40% in a few days.. I think it is growing more faster than bitcoin, and it has a lot of potential to keep growing more until the end of this year, probably ethereum is going to go to $500 by december, so it is more than 100% if you buy right now. Maybe bitcoin can go to $6000 to, but ether is giving more profits.

I would split that some and invest in both. Bitcoin is always good investment and you can't go wrong with that but ETH is also perspective coin worth investing. Still the larger amount I would invest in bitcoin and the smaller in Ethereum, let's say 75:25 ratio in favour of bitcoin.

Hey why don't you do 50-50 for both ???
In that ase ypu will be able to invest in 2 diverse things at the same time..that will for sure benifit you for the long run... Its anyways good if one goes down and the other goes up you won't loose that much that you were about to loose in.. deflation ...

Bitcoin should drop down towards its support level, so it might have a little further to go yet. Does hurt to watch the charts for a few days.

I would suggest to spend it on Ether.  Buying ether will have a possibility to increase your holdings at least twice.  That is if ether goes up and at the same time Bitcoin goes up.  Or an equalizer such as when ether goes down but bitcoin goes up or vice versa.  You have more chance of gaining profit if you buy Ether, that is 25% gain 50% stale and 25% lose.  Aside from that Ether is pretty solid investment too since this token have huge community and several developments to come.

Yeah, both are good, invest to Bitcoin will need you wait in a long term to take profit. But Ethereum can helps you earn profit in short term, that is an interesting point make me like altcoin market.

Many Thanks

Do some research in coming altcoins. You can maybe even catch a legitimate ICO that is promising. One that I have recently seen is EnjinCoin, which has a huge base in terms of all gamers across the world. 500$ may not seem like a lot, but it depends on where you invest and what you make out of it. Currently, putting into Bitcoin might not do you much good.

Yeah, why dont you diversify it on another altcoins? it is plenty of them, you can search for any altcoin that is under $0,10 - $1 and it will give you a lot of profits. 0xproject is a good coin for short term, i am going to buy some in the next days. I have some Ark right now, and this is the coin that most money gave to me , since i bought them at $1,20 each one

Yes do some research because there are many coins now that have a potential to grow and give a big profit. It is good to invest in altcoins now because some of the altcoins have not done yet discover but can cause a big profit.

Frankly speaking, I would invest all of that amount in bitcoin only. The price of bitcoin now was down by $200 so it's a good time to buy back some at the moment. But if you don't want bitcoin only or you aren't comfortable by investing that amount wholly in bitcoin, then you can invest 80% in bitcoin and 20% in eth. You can do the adjustments, try to learn and do some research on what will make you comfortable with the percentage.

I will still suggest Bitcoin, ethereum is a good coin but the price keep on up and down, Bitcoin also up and down but in the end it can go up and create a new bottom price, and it is small chance to earn 100£ with 500£, it is not that easy to be able to gained profit that big, even if you are a professional trader it still difficult to keep on earning profit

hi,

tbh my small investments are for the long run so not too fussed what the profit is now. I'm hoping my altcoins do well.

If it does become true that bitcoin price rockets my £500 plus the extra per month i contribute will give me a decent amount in future.

Cheers

I don't think you will get a lot of bitcoin with just 500 so i think it is better to invest them in ether so you can make profit out of that and sell that for bitcoins because actually everything comes great out for bitcoin.

Yes investing in LTC is a smart one Litecoin has the potential to rise very high and double his value. I have already invested in LTC, but not in ETH Im just waiting to sell LTC for a good price and then i will invest in it. Bitcoin is also a good coin to invest if bitcoin is really falling high we should buy coins, because bitcoin is every time rising and falling.

its better if you try another altcoin with a potential to rise its value in the future. In my trading account , i am holding monaco coin, monero, bitconnect and waves. Im planning to add more altcoins to my list if i get some extra funds. And if you are going to buy some coins, just go for a long term investment

Ethereum seems to be quite alright as of now, but based on the stories I have heard of it, I wouldn’t be Investing in such. Bitcoin was the first, and also the most trusted, so I would say you keep calm and keep that £500 somewhere safe and wait for Bitcoin price to fall, possibly on November, then you invest it and make profit.

it's my opinion that you should split it between them, they're both poised to rise right now and are both poised to be rising for the next year at the very least regardless of what happens in the financial climate. if you have the spare money to invest invest immediately and there's absolutely nothing wrong with a diverse portfolio, in fact you might even want to put a little bit into Ripple and dash but hey that's just one speculators advice. between the two you chose I think any serious investors response is hedge your bets.

i would consider a percent split as well, but i would favor eth in the percentage. it seems like there is simply more upside for eth to move, considering the current price of bitcoin. we saw bitcoin move from tenths of a cent, to multiple thousands of dollars. given how much innovation there is in the eth sphere, they should have no problem reaching the same price levels, eventually.

Depends on whether you are planning for short-term or long-term investment. If you are considering an investment of the latter type, then Bitcoins are perfectly safe. But regarding short-term investments, I have my doubts. There is a good chance that Bitcoin can go below £2,000 per coin in the short-term. So I would refrain from purchasing either BTC or ETH if I am considering short-term investment.

I would split it 50/50 in bitcoin and ethereum, or maybe invest also a bit in some altcoins like litecoin, monero. Try to build a nice and varied portfolio with different coins

If you want to risk a bit Put 65-70% in Ethereum as it can jump in the coming year, Bitcoin will also rise, but it might take another dip in the near future.
Also it would be much better if you don't restrict to only this two coins, better to diversify more, it does lowers the risk in great way and also increases the chance of getting more profit.

I would just buy your fraction of bitcoin (it doesn't matter if it's 'just' a fraction) and place some cheap buy orders for ether if you really want ether. Bitcoin has dropped quite a bit so it's a good opportunity right now, don't get me wrong though it might drop more but long term $3800 is a very good entry point.

I followed this idea before 1 August bitcoin split. I used have all bitcoins, and I splitted them into altcoins. And this made me 40% loss. I will never give up from bitcoin anymore. Only strong one in the market!

Ok thank you! ;D You had gave me a chance to buy altcoins and the whales also love that. They want to create a doubt the price of altcoins on the market. But not easy to make all traders change their opinion, that is reason they need to dump altcoins to low in a long time.

I agree that Bitcoin is better but with the calculation of dollar  growth, since this is an investment, I believe investing in ETH is better.  I am positive that ETH and Bitcoin will incline in value and having both of this cryptocurrency increasing in price value, it is best to invest in ETH then when time come that we have to convert it, converting it to bitcoin first then to fiat will give us more profit.

Spend it on bitcoin because bitcoin has a strong market and it has a lot of supporters so you will not have any problem for keeping bitcoin for a lot of years because you will feel comfortable because of its stable and strong market and i think that because of bitcoin you can grow that 500 into 2000 if you will just be patient in holding bitcoin.

From my point of view I will consider if that investment is worth the risk and if I can profit a lot from it. So I'm referring to bitcoin as the ultimate choice for cryptocurrency investments. Ethereum might be a good competition to btc but still it can't replace bitcoin on its place even with a smaller transaction fees is given. So just invest it all to bitcoin worth of £500.

Off course you should be investing money into bitcoin only. The volatility of which affects the ether price by the way. If you see the trend then you will notice that ether has always gone up and down as the bitcoin has moved up and down. So your invest plenty should go into the coin which is affecting the market and that's bitcoin really. Ether is having low value but less potent to capture the market in short period of time. By the time your ether goes up, the bitcoin would have gone double the current value that's for sure. So I'm thinking its better to get bitcoin though you get small portion of it. That really doesn't matter because when you invest £500 in bitcoin then it's £500 only and when you do the same in ether then also it's £500 only. ;-)

Though bitcoin has got different pairings with entire digital currency, it's good to invest into bitcoin as well diversify with the one that can be traded for bitcoin without much complications. Also if you are planning for a profit in a much lesser time period it's good to invest with ICO's.

Be more vigilant upon selecting on ICO's since there are so many coins made right now and I can't trust some of them right now And much better if we just invest on bitcoins if we are not sure for this things up and bitcoin can give us some immediate profit but we need to be active for watching its movement and buy whenever the price has dump and sell wherever it pumps.

This might go against the conventional grain here considering we are on BCTalk, but I would suggest going with Ether at the moment. It has so much potential words almost cannot describe it. Just take a second to consider the hundreds of new ICOs that are launching and currently ongoing and all of them rely on Ether (with the exception of a rare few on the Waves platform).

I advise you to buy Ethereum. Ethereum has a cheaper price than bitcoin. and also the price of ethereum is always going up and we can get abundant profit.

Ethereum might be a good choice but you need to consider the level of volatility of ethereum compare to bitcoin and the stability of the price of ethereum compare to bitcoin. Bitcoin has a stronger and more stable market rather than ethereum and ethereum needs a lot of improvements and support in both community and market before it gets close for being a competitor for bitcoin.

I would go with ethereum over bitcoin but I would advise instead to split the 500 and invest maybe 300 in to ether and 200 in to bitcoin. I see Ether pushing up towards 1k within the next year and in the longer term it wouldn't surprise me to see it overtake bitcoin at some point.

Many Thanks
I'd recommend ETH for some reasons such that, the amount that you will invest is somewhat small and won't be making a profit that high unlike in ETH wherein its value is increasing faster than Bitcoin as of this moment. Also, ETH is usually used in ICOs so it will be more profitable as an investment with that amount.

My 2 cents suggestion would be - Buy 1 ETH and use the rest of the money to buy as many of Bitcoin as possible  ;)

i think in that value you can invest it on altcoin that running ICO, you can read the whitepaper and history and roadmap of that coin, if that coin interesting and you sure that will make profit you can invest on it, you can get some jackpot by that coin in shorter term than ether otr bitcoin

I'd recommend splitting your investment but if I had to pick one I would go for Ether, I think it has more potential for bigger gains.

I think you should wait for some time, there might be a major correction in the coming weeks - which has been already started. You can split your investment by 60 - 40 %; you can invest 60% in bitcoins and rest in ETH.

Title: Re: £500 to spend, on Ether or Bitcoin?
Post by: Rahar02 on September 25, 2017, 03:07:15 PM
For long term; I will recommend Bitcoin
For short term; go for ethereum.
Bitcoin could reach higher price than ethereum, even though ethereum could gain more value in % since its price is cheaper but will get dumped so often everytime eth reach certain point, that's why ethereum is a good option for short term investment.
As you've planned to put £100 per month, it will be great to purchase bitcoin to add into your wallet and wait for next year to see how much its growing.

You may want to go with what you know. Bitcoin is money, that's easy. ETH are tokens for structuring smart contracts. If you are unable to create smart contracts then ether may not be a good idea because you may not know what you have.

BTC is so high atm, ?500 wouldn't do much for me. Unless I put the initial ?500 in BTC and added ?100 per month to it?!! But what if the BTC price doubles in a short period that would mean my buy would be peanuts.

So confusing :)
Bitcoin price for now is high , so if you would choose between ethereum and bitcoin for you to buy you can choose ethereum more because its price have more room to develop and to experience growth. But if you have the the capacity to deal with both currency you could try to buy a portion of ethereum and bitcoin.

I suggest you forget about bitcoin because of the capital and you are still considering splitting it further. You can equally make good profit from other coins, so research on promising coins.

This is not a big amount, so you can divide it between Bitcoin and Ethereum. Both are the best crypto currencies right now and both have the best potential and the biggest communities. Making all the eggs in just one basket is more risky

Title: Re: £500 to spend, on Ether or Bitcoin?

From my point of view I will consider if that investment is worth the risk and if I can profit a lot from it. So I'm referring to bitcoin as the ultimate choice for cryptocurrency investments. Ethereum might be a good competition to btc but still it can't replace bitcoin on its place even with a smaller transaction fees is given. So just invest it all to bitcoin worth of £500.
If have more than that I will definitely invest them in bitcoin, because as we see the price of bitcoin is growing more and more although some time ago the price fell down to as low as 3000 dollars but it regain its value and now once again it is round about 4000 US dollars, and I am sure that in the near future it will cross the limit of 5000 dollars. Therefore for me investment in bitcoin is far better.

Just split your investment to avoid huge loss in case of bear market. Why put all eggs in single basket? Make a smart investment for better ROI but dont forget to do your homework.Dont invest amount which you cant afford to lose..
It is right because not only ether but the bitcoin is the best currency now it is good to invest in bitcoin if you have 500$ because after some time like as if after 6 or 8 months you will sell your bitcoin then you will get the high profit from it.  Now the price of the bitcoin is more than 4500$ so it is the chance to increase your income using bitcoin and the profit of the bitcoin will grow as the time passing.

500 pounds is a low amount to spend on Bitcoin if you will use this amount for trading. For trading it is better if you buy Ether as with 500 pounds you will buy more than 1 Full Ether which you can use on almost every exchange to do trading. If you are thinking to invest for the long run, better buy bitcoin even low amounts and keep them in your wallet waiting together with many of us here when the price should go up and we will all be happy making some decent profits.

Yes.If you want to inverse This much higher value of dollars means, you can choose the bitcoin. Because the value of bitcoin is now around 3900$.Soon it will crossed the value of 5000$.If so you can get very huge profit from that. You may split the value of dollars and keep in profitable Altcoin.

I would invest all the money in Bitcoins. It's the most safe Crypto-Currency, the main one. Other currencies, even ETH, are just AltCoins created from Bitcoin source. Another option would be to invest biggest part of this money in BTC and a smallest part on ETH. In my opinion to hold Bitcoin on long term worth much more than ETH...

Bitcoin is smartest choice as compare to any other bitcoin so invest in bitcoin that will give you long term benefits, profit rate is more impressive in bitcoins than any other coins and it is global known digital currency and investing in other involves risk and stay away from risk and upcoming days are the best days for the bitcoin investors.

for what you bother yourself by dividing your investment ,, I think more to invest in one place (coin) and if one moment happened the price suddenly down we can increase the investment amount ,, and keep repeat when back down .. until the moment where we will get multiple benefits
My suggestion is to invest into bitcoin because it will rise soon and will double this amount in term of digital currency. So invest and wait for the good times and bitcoin investors can secure more as compared to any other coin investor so make a mind and jump into pool of profiteers.

I think you should spend half to bitcoin and half to ether. Both of these two have different price variation and hard to predict which one will rise in the future. This method gives lesser risk and average profit. If you spend all your capital to one of these two, You will encounter greater risk but if your instinct is right, you might get a good profit. Still decide on yourself. Also, consider some references in making your decision. That way you can decide more accurately.

Also eth is going down ... By mire than 10% and the current trend is in the favour of bitcoins..
Best of luck :)

it's my opinion that you should split it between them, they're both poised to rise right now and are both poised to be rising for the next year at the very least regardless of what happens in the financial climate. if you have the spare money to invest invest immediately and there's absolutely nothing wrong with a diverse portfolio, in fact you might even want to put a little bit into Ripple and dash but hey that's just one speculators advice. between the two you chose I think any serious investors response is hedge your bets.
Look at the market bitcoin is going viral now a days people are coming to invest so as you mentioned about invest so people are investing in decentralized world they will see many best things in their life in a future with bitcoin.
Make bitcoin first on prior list and then any other because the days of dump are gone and now it is crawling upward and will be at the record price and on that time you will be happy that you invested in it so without hesitation believe in bitcoin and invest there is no other profit giving coin like bitcoin so don’t get confused secure you future and invest.

I would avoid both of them for now, bitcoin should crash into 2000-3000 dollars at the next weeks, soo you might recover your money but it will take a bit till those happen, there are soo many new potencial coins wich can boom even with that two big crash that may happen with eth and btc, if you consider to do weekly trading i sugest to take a look into  others coins wich can allow you to make easy money while the storm still around.

Since you are like put into confusion upon deciding in which cryptocurrency will you put your £500, I think it will be a good move if you will just divide it into have a partially distribute those into both bitcoin and ethereum so that you can probably see the difference between the two and you, yourself can totally decide if after witnessing the difference is that you will still hold into those or you will choose between those two and decide focusing into just one cryptocurrency to invest your money.

I think BTC has the best chance of making greater gains; It has the brand name and it is the gateway coin used to buy most other alt coins. However your safest bet is to go halves in each. That way you won't miss out either way.

Bitcoin is known as good for long tern investment and Etherium is good for short term investments which means both eth and btc are ggood investments in their own way. So if you want to earn profit in an instant  go for etherium and if you're willing to wait for years and for bigger profit, it would be better if you'll invest that money to Bitcoin.

If I were you I would diversify it since both coins have a lot in it. Although that is the case, bitcoin might be the better choice because of the growing adoption rate when compared to ETH since bitcoin is legalized in some countries while ETH on the other hand is neither legal nor illegal for now in most countries. With both being held, potential profit would be faster since pumps and dumps are faster in eth for now, and btc is good to secure some value on your investment.

that is true , whenever you want to buy alt coins you should buy bitcoin first.

as only few exchange provides altcoin-usd use-altcoin pair , i can say very rare to see it. and that is makes bitcoin the most promising compared to ethereum itself as an alt coin , the growth between both pretty clear enough for me.

bitcoin far better , where ethereum struggling recently , just keep adjusting on bitcoin price. just go for bitcoin for sure.

You should try half half for a safe keep atleast you can grow two interest with a little regret  just little tho cause if one has grown or example eth grown much larger than last month and bitcoin didnt grow much but it grew thats a fair trade or rather a win win hand to make should try two for more chances to make because this two is still growing its still not too late now

£500 can be a great way to start in trading but it will not offer that much of a profit. With bitcoin's pricing up to $4300 you can buy in some fraction of it but it can generate you at least an income of $100-200 in a month given after the fork of November the price stabilize. Also, if you buy in some ethereum the pricing is always as is ranging from $290-300 and I don't think you'll profit from it that much. I'd suggest you buy some fraction of bitcoin and start investing on low value altcoin but has a great potential in the upcoming years.

For me, I can say that bitcoin is more good in investment than all the altcoins. £500 is a enough money to start a long term investment in bitcoin. Bitcoin is very profitable so It is better to invest your money to the bitcoin.
Yes you are right in the future bitcoin will be the main stream for the people to use. I also agree with the investment in bitcoin, because the worldwide popularity, easy transfer, security, and of course the growing price.

The high price means the high profit. As much we invest in bitcoin the more and more money we will earn in the future. So for me the best choice for investment is only bitcoin.

That really doesn't matter because when you invest £500 in bitcoin then it's £500 only and when you do the same in ether then also it's £500 only. ;-)

I think all the members in this forum should invest in bitcoin only, because while working here they will also be well aware of the market cap the value and price of bitcoin. They will learn lot of things related to bitcoin because of the expert’s opinion in this signature campaign. Therefor I suggest to all the people to invest their money only in bitcoin. It will give them a huge profit in the future.

When it comes to investing, never put all your eggs in one basket :p

Bitcoin and Ethereum have a really good potential. You should invest in both, up to you to decide in which you want to put most of your money ! In my humble opinion, you should diversify more than that if you really want to secure profits. If you really want to make huge profits, you should invest in cryptocurrencies that aren't at high prices already, theses ones have more room to grow ;)

I would preferably say trading is best way to spend on bitcoin as we seen Bitcoin is in very good condition right now which is about 5700 USD.
People predicted that bitcoin could rise upto 10000 USD in next 4 months.

maybe you can start with ico invest or eth coin trading. but now btc price is very expensive you should be more careful to see the price of btc and about news about the world of cryptocurrency. in my country, i can directly buy eth with local currency so not too worried to see the price of btc.

Ether have a nice support from big organisations like Microsoft, so backing it would be awesome idea as most of the countries aren't in favour of bitcoin, but due to the influence of companies like Microsoft it can get much support.

That is not too high capital to invest in bitcoins but its very good capital to invest in altcoins so I would suggest you to invest that amount in ethereum and wait for the price to pump as ethereum is number one altcoin at a moment and even in future it will rise to a great level so buy ethereum and hold it for next couple of months and you will surely get positive results out of it.

I recommend ETH
With ETH you can more easily invest in ICO's if you decide to do so

You can divide it by five and invest hundred to five different ICO's

you'll have higher return on investment this way than just holding ETH or BTC

Ether may have advantages but as compared to bitcoin ether is like a kid, and price of bitcoin and profit rate is also high.

Crypto is known just because of bitcoin and ETH is not that much popular as bitcoin is and bitcoin accepted all across the world whereas eth is just known at the organizational level and bill gates also declared bitcoin as most profitable coin and so don’t take risk invest into bitcoin you will see results soon.

Many Thanks

Both are too expensive already. Find something with a new technology and which is still cheap.

If you are good in trading and you think you will be able to earn good amount of profit by trading, then I will suggest you to go for ETH in the beginning. Once you have this much of budget that you can comfortably invest good amount of money in bitcoin, then you can switch from ETH to bitcoin. Investing thins much of money in bitcoin initially will not help you serve the purpose.

Neither eth nor btc you should try to find out some other altcoins with low price and has potential to grow in future as its not very big capital to invest so it would be good if you buy the cheapest altcoins with good volume and wait for the price pump and if it happens then you will be making good profits in compare to investing in eth or btc.

With such a price on bitcoin, your amount will become just a trifle for him. so go on the air and for the long term and generally see that it is much more interesting than bitcoin.

Spend it on books, on education, on moving forward. And maybe after few years you come back with 50 000 to invest. If you looking for a fast grow and ready to lose your money, check altcoin market.

My opinion is nothing different than yours. Bitcoin is the mother of all crypto currencies and its comparison with any altcoin has been happening for ages now but the results have remain the same. Bitcoin smokes altcoins every time much better than the previous one. Eth is a slow progressor. Both are not bbbles but investors wants a fast increment in their money so bitcoin is the best of the best in this scenario. BTC is the base of digital coins.

Buy bitcoin, you will never regret about it and you will never lose it's value, because you are always going to have One bitcoin, no matter how much is it's price, but everybody knows that bitcoin is always increasing in its value and it will probably no go down again, maybe it will, but only a few hundreds until it recover again, like it always happened in the past.
So what are you waiting for? invest in bitcoin, and buy some ethereum when you have more budget.

In the past month bitcoin has increased by approx 50%, Ethereum by approx 10%. I like Ethereum but I dont think it is going to keep pace with bitcoin as an investment, in the short, medium or long term.

From the percent growth of all crypto coins, person investing in bitcoin will always remain on higher side with profit margins. Other alt-coins are not reliable at all. Or those who have some reputation have not shown the ability and scope for growth like bitcoin has shown. Just look at what happens with ether, this year alone ethereum prices reached and remained somewhere around 300 dollars, give or take some ups and down. It has not shown like bitcoin. And ether is second best valued crypto currency. About the ripple who had great momentum going on till the top devel dropped the bomb of major chunk of ripples are going to flood the market in form of donation. Ripple never recovered fully from that. However it is still in top five crypto market capitalwise.
Thus putting money in the bitcoin is beneficial.

Right now you should put your money in to bitcoin and try profit from the fork in 3 days, but make sure you get out quickly once the fork happens. Otherwise for the next few months I see ether having a brighter horizon.

This really depends on your plan. If you are going to hold for ages.. i would probably go with Bitcoin.
But if you want to make mid - long term profit i'd probably split this investment.
Bitcoin and Ethereum are two completely different investments. This should be wisely considered.
I would split your investment in maybe 300/200 with 300£ into the project you trust more / which will give you your desired return in a given time.
Overall i think Bitcoin is more reliable in terms of crypto investment than Ethereum. But if you are willing to take the risk and see potential in eth, why not invest more to (possibly) gain higher profits

I thought that ethereum has a future, although at the moment it is still in second position by market cap, and it is almost impossible to replace bitcoin at the top position, because bitcoin is like a mother of crypto currency. But for features owned by ethereum it is worth to consider in the future. Meanwhile, bitcoin still has problems with the speed of delivery and the fee is still very high. Even so, the price continues to increase with time. So that's all your decision.

I always prefer bitcoins over ethereum for investment as bitcoins are increasing like anything and this upcoming forms like bitcoins gold and segwit2x, bitcoins prices would surely increase as people will try to invest more in bitcoins to get the free bitcoins gold. While i do think that ethereum has potential to grow even more but it will be always inferior to bitcoins.I think that invest in bitcoins and also invest some in ethereum. Both of the coins are great at long term investment but profits would be more in bitcoins than in ethereum.

It depends to you want do you think gives you high profit every month because ethereum coin and bitcoin is a potential and for sure the price will increase more. This two altcoin before the price is very low and if you see the price is very high the price of ethereum is hundreds of dollars while the price of bitcoin is thousands of dollars and i hope it will increase more. But i suggest invest your money in both .

I prefer investing a huge amount on bitcoins because the growth is really good unlike other altcoins that does not have a decent amount of potential to grow in the market due to less investors who are interested on it.

I would recommend going with both the options but through the systematic investment plan which emphasizes on buying in smaller units at a higher frequency of time and that takes the advantage of every price level. I believe that Bitcoin will get popularity in the fund transfer industry in the coming years and corporate organizations would also adopt it after seeking the stability and ETH has a huge growth potential in the automation industry and I am expecting growth of it along with Industry 4.0 evolution.

Hence the amount of investment is broken into parts  :) They do not want to invest everything in one altcoyin, they are looking for happiness in everyone  ;)

I think you can put it to eth only. the $ 500 for bitcoin is still very small, and currently the bitcoin price is still in the red market. eth although the situation is still the same, but there is a 50% increase. and the chances for a higher rise are very big.

It would be a much more smart move to invest equal amount of your money in both the coins. Bitcoin being the pioneer is considered as a brand of cryptocurrencies and with a strong market capital of $123 billion is no longer under a financial bubble. Hence, it ensures a safe investment.
Ethereum is the second most popular crypto and with its potential will help you earn good profits in a shorter period of time. Also, not just as an investment asset, the coin can be used as a token for smart applications or as a platform for posting new ICOs. Hence, you should consider in investing in both the coins.

It's always wise to diversify the investment. Thus you lower the risk and have more options for profit.
So in this particular case I would suggest to invest in both,Bitcoin and Ethereum but in different ratio.
For me Bitcoin is still number one currency so about 70% I would invest in Bitcoin and the rest of 30% in Ethereum.
Still whatever of these two you choose you will not go wrong.

It was only bitcoin that made Eric a millionaire and that too in the easiest and simplest way possible. No other asset, whether physical or digital has capacity to gain too much value in a short duration of time like this coin. But ethereum has a lot of potential to gain value. The coin with his smart contract plattform is being used in a lot of project and will be in future indispensable.

Check the growth rate of Ethereum and bitcoin over a year period and compare which one is more stable, likely to rise and not extremely volatile. I'd choose bitcoin because 5 percent increase in 500 usd of bitcoin is greater than same percentage rise in ethereum. And currently both ethereum and bitcoin almost follow the same graph pattern and percentage increase.

You can distribute this amount between bitcoin and ether. But I prefer a different approach. Its essence is that you invest a certain amount in cryptocurrencies on a monthly basis, regardless of their current value. And it gives you an optimal average price.

I think you should spend the money in ETH and not in Bitcoin in this case. This is because you have good margin of profit in two ETH than in a fraction of Bitcoin. Actually Bitcoin is more profitable than ETH but here a fraction of Bitcoin does not looks more profitable than two ETH.  A small profit in two ETH I better than a small profit in a fraction of Bitcoin.

You should use 100% of your investment in altcoin then I think the profit you earn with altcoin will be 3 to 4 times more than ETH and Bitcoin investment. There is a lot of 1000% increase altcoin within a month or two

Make an investment both eth and bitcoin, so you wont regret if the one you dont choose became more profitable. 50% in eth and the half is in bitcoin. And your contribution every month is you can invest in alt coins. Two alt coins is enough, too many coins is hard to see the price update.

Ethereum is better than bitcoin. You can earn a great ROI with ethereum. Bitcoin only slowly increases the price but ethereum always make a big pump on the market. Having ethereum means having the future in your hands. I have a strong feeling that ethereum will soon replace bitcoin in a near future

Many Thanks

Today btc7,500 dollars, ETH580 dollars.

It turns out that whether you buy bitcoin or ETH you get a lot of revenue. So the sooner you invest in crypto-currencies the higher the return.

Ether is very good, and it is one of the top best cryptocurrencies available. I’m very sure that most investors would go for it without thinking twice about it, cause… you don’t have to think about it lol😆. But since you’re comparing it with Bitcoin, then Bitcoin is hands down the best option you should probably go with. If you invest your £500 into Ethereum, you won’t much profit from it. But if you invest that money in Bitcoin and leave it till end of the year, trust me, you will make a huge profit by then.

I would advise you to invest your money in higher-risk assets, but with a greater profit margin. Now there are a lot of projects on the crypto-currency market with "undervalued capitalization", unfortunately there are also many scam projects. Therefore, one must be careful in choosing.
Here are some of those to which I would take a closer look: Cardano, EOS, NEO, and others having their own blockchain.

if you have skills try to make service site will gain a lot of money

use your money on place that you have more knowledge on it

if not have hold it only

I think If your intention is to hold it it will be the best choice you can. Hope you get the answer and benefit you.
Why not on both £ 250 on bitcoin and £ 250 on the ethereum is safer in that way and more practical in my opinion. You can be sure to profit from it rather than putting all in one investment because they are performing well at the moment.

I will invest in BTC. The price of BTC is higher than that of ETH, so I can get more money.
If you can afford to invest in bitcoins and you think this price range is suitable with your earning source, then go for bitcoins. There is nothing better than these bitcoins. You can earn from them as much as you can just make smart moves and be patient while dealing in trading and investing. But eth is good too. If you don’t have music bigger money to afford bitcoins, you can go for eth as well.

The bitcoin and etherium is both great coins in the market now they're both showing great preformance in great movement now in the market, but when it talks about the value and popularity the bitcoin is definitely more better to spend than etherium.

If i were you i prefer to buy bitcoin if you want a long term investment. Because we know, bitcoin is more profitable and the value increases in long term.
But if you like to trade or buy altcoins and such, just buy ETH because it will help you a lot to exchange coins.
Eth won't give really big profits for long term i think, because most people just use it to exchange altcoins to bitcoin.
But maybe you can try both. Find the most suitable one, just buy bit by bit and see which one suits you the most and continue the investment with the coin you like the most.

Buying bitcoin is the best choice. In addition, I suggest that we invest 100 pounds per month to invest some altcoin regularly, which may bring more benefits to you. The current market price can be bought regularly, and there is no big risk.

I think it will be good if make it a half. 50% on ethereum and 50% for bitcoin. We all know that bitcoin is the best holding coin in crypto while ethereum for me is the best coin for investing ico or buying token. Because of his faster transaction

50/50% is nice way to spend $500 but I feel than ETH has a potency to grow much faster, as it's getting more and more applied to the real world things. You also can chiose the best moment for each of them to cash out

I consider that ETH will give more % per investment but it is my opinion. As for me I am holding ETH because I consider that ETH will double its current price at least or even more but I also have bought some BTC because I think that it is also a good asset right now and the current price is very good.
You may buy ETH and BTC.

The success of Bitcoin as a decentralized digital currency has inspired the creation of a variety of other cryptocurrencies collectively, one of which is called Ethereum. Bitcoin and Ethereum, both the leading coins in the eyes of investors and speculators. As I know, Bitcoin and Ethereum have long sat in number one and number two their journeys like the 'King and Queen' never separated, though seat number two, had time to grab by Ripple in a moment but seat number two finally returned to its owner Ethereum.

With a fund of £500, you're actually able to buy both as their price will increase this Juni but everything comes back to you again, which coin you will buy?.

Ether and Bitcoin wont be profitable in a short run or middle run, so there are plenty of coins or tokens to be considered to invest and make more profit. Consider Steem in q4 because of the launch of the SMT.

Eos is amazing because of their HYPE.

I agree to that idea that you should spend your money into different coins from at least 2 coins because that is diversification and that will give you a lesser amount of risk and that risk will give you feel of safety and you can sleep at night without even thinking to your holdings. So you should better diversify rather than just choosing one.

both types of coins have excellent potential to serve as long-term investments. investing in bitcoin will be far more profitable if it can be a long-term investment, but on the other hand we should consider the risks to be faced before deciding to invest in cryptocurrency.

if you have £ 500 and you want to invest in cryptocurrency. So I suggest you invest in both bitcoin and ethereum. The reason is because the market situation is often volatile. If you only invest in one instrument then, if at any time the price starts to reverse direction then you will become panic

Better go for ETH and not Bitcoin in this case. You do not have a huge money to invest in Bitcoin and but 0.5 or one Bitcoin. However with this money, you might be able to buy at least one or more than one ETH which will give you some double profit when the value in the market rises. If you spend the money in Bitcoin, your fraction of Bitcoin might not be as profitable as your ETH.

There are many people who analyze this, but most of them choose ETH as a long-term investment. The growth is good, and eth in believe that can compete with bitcoin if there will be no better coin than eth.

In the past month bitcoin has increased by approx 50%, Ethereum by approx 10%. I like Ethereum but I dont think it is going to keep pace with bitcoin as an investment, in the short, medium or long term.

Yeah I also see bitcoin in this matter like even you hold it for short or long term you still have a sure profit. Bitcoin rally isn't over so better you hold some of this for investment.

I think if your intention is to hold it would be the best option you can. we wish you get the answers and profitable for you. why not on both £ 250 on bitcoin and £ 250 on ethereum the safer by way of it and more practical I think. you can sure benefit from it than putting all in one investment because they are well-performing at the moment.

Half in bitcoin and the other half is for ethereum. Both on them is good investment and youll not regret. Bitcoin has the highest value and will be much higher in the future. And also ethereums value is getting high and it has a possibility that it will go up like bitcoin in the future.

But do not forget that the BTC is the first coin originated and is a coin with a history of continuous development and development in the long run. Therefore, bitcoin always prevails in value as well as position from the belief. of the community and investors. To me, BTC is the most trusted coin on the market.

Ether is one of the best investments to make when the market is at a correction phase, the reason for that is that the increase in ether will not just be because of its uptick but rather because of the small altcoins it supports in its blockchain network

It's recommended to split your capital so that you will have more options to earn money here in crypto currency market. Also if you have some trading knowledge then try to put some and play the market everyday so that you'll not just only waiting for your long term coins to erupt. Most of the successful traders in this industry are doing those moves because those are the best ways to earn profit in this kind of system.

Bitcoin and ethereum are the top coin in this cryptocurrency , if you do not know what coin you should invest, i think you should divide your money, 50 for bitcoin and 50 for ethereum that would be safer .
