It can be done by using site's feedback or contact us forms.

This way we can create demand because good e-commerce sites care about their users. And they know that the more payment methods you have the higher the conversion rate (the % of people who buy something) because some users can use only 1 method of payment. For example, some americans can only pay with Paypal while some venezuelans can only pay with Bitcoin, etc. So, if the site supports more payment methods it will convert more orders on average.

To increase the demand for implementing cryptocurrency payments in e-commerce sites we just have to request that using the contact us or feedback forms. The more people give feedback to their favorite online retailers the more people will start using bitcoin as payment method (now that we have segwit).

The more people do this the more demand for Bitcoin there will be.

You look like new to the forum. This idea has already been discussed quite many times but the problem that persist is the transaction fees and highly volatile prices. Bitcoin prices sometimes fluctuate by 1000$ a day. How are they going to change prices of their products everyday? Moreover for such network to prevail they have to pay their dealers too with bitcoins.

I suppose they gonna set bitcoin prices by the current price for bitcoin. The greatest work should be done to everything would work effectively.
The demand really depends on us. I think such great e-shopping source will attract more attention to bitcoin than anything else. Other sites should to follow this example to become modern and more popular. Yep, that's a great idea. I'll do a site listing top online retailers, and instructions on how to contact them, and what to write. For example, Amazon has hidden its contact form several levels deep and its not easy to find. I'm quite busy but will try to do the site in 3-4 days.

Many people holding it seem to be in the hopes that more people buy into it and in turn increase its valuation and don't really seem to care to use it as currency anyway. Just how it is at the moment.

This is a idea, but just bumping Amazon with thousands of requests about this, won't make BTC's value skyrocket! This topic has been discussed by amazon internally maybe, and being them a big market, I wonder if they could take on the risk with a very volatile coin arising. you won't increase the demand by doing that! you just show the demand that already exists. if those people who are willing to spend bitcoin on sites like Amazon can show their interest so that Amazon can know how many are out there who want this new feature.

you can not lie about it either. because if you show fake interest and they finally add bitcoin and it were not as big as it was claimed then it would be removed and will create a big shame. for example if you make fake demands for addition of ETH you will just embarrass yourself as nobody uses that for payments.

We are the users and we have the power to request cryptocurrency payments. Amazon values its users a lot, and that's the reason they're successful. If they receive enough signals from users that want BTC/Alt-coin payment method, they will start to consider it much more seriously than now.

The only way to make cryptocurrencies mainstream is to start buying/selling stuff with them, like with fiat. Don't worry about the transaction times and fee's, the market will find a way to solve the problem if there's enough user demand.

Most major e-commerce websites such as Amazon are already aware of Bitcoin but there's one problem.
People who use Bitcoin to make purchases are only a tiny subfraction of Amazon's customers and implementing it wouldn't have any significant impact to their sales anyways because you (and everyone else) will use Amazon regardless.

you should first think what kind of demand you want.
so far it has been mostly the speculator's demand type. where more people come in and start investing in bitcoin and want more money out of it. and there is nothing stopping that as long as bitcoin is on the rise. in other words it will be like this for years.

the other type of demand is what you point out, the demand as a currency. for that i am afraid an stable price is needed most. because when people feel 1 bitcoin which is worth x today can be worth 100x tomorrow they are less willing to spend that as a currency.

A petition would be good, probably on a site like change.org or something. I'm completely against making a template so we could just copy and paste the message though. They would probably just take it as spam. I prefer writing a short and sweet suggestion explaining how and why we wanted to pay with bitcoin.

It is not good to contact them directly but we should manage something which contains signs of verified buyers from Amazon with at least 50k - 100k people signing that petition and saying that they are interested in paying with Bitcoins and that Amazon should allow listen to their users' demand and allow them to do so. I think that Purse.io is the only way which allows us to buy and sell through Bitcoins at Amazon (indirectly), but it is limited to select countries and things and we need to lift up those limitations for which we need to push them hard.

It certainly is a great idea but until traditional banking allows easy exchange of fiat to bitcoin and vice versa, it is unlikely that major companies will take bitcoin, especially if they are listed companies on the stock exchange. Accounting and auditing will be a nightmare for just an incremental, if at all, adjustment of revenues from cryptocurrency. Most will adopt a wait and see approach no matter what kind of lobbying they receive from bitcoin communities, as they know that it represents a small percentage of their client base.

Well, pressures from the buyers can help a lot for an online retailer to consider Bitcoin as one of the mode of payments accepted. This can help in telling Amazon to think on how they can incorporate Bitcoin into their infrastructure and e-commerce platform. I do however believe that Amazon is not blind to not see the great potential of Bitcoin but maybe they have decided that they need some more time before they can get Bitcoin into their site. In my own estimate, they are also concerned about volatility because most online retailers are not charging that much in their profit margins. One day Amazon would take up Bitcoin am sure of that...we can tell them to do it faster otherwise they can be missing the opportunity to also be a Bitcoin leader.

I think this is vague discussion about amazon implemting the worlds highest traded crypto currency like bitcoin. Don't you guys think if Amazon wanted to implement that then they could have done that already! It's really big online merchant and they know very well how to conduct the the market survey. They might have thought of it already but due to management decisions on bitcoin it could have gone wrong. For example, bitcoin is having very less stability in terms of prices. There are confirmations, waiting of the payment processing which can make it hard to pass on to customer and merchant connection. What happened next? Bitcoiners were happy but nobody was actually using it.
Same with real stores here that started accepting btc, simply nobody using it, so they stop accepting it.

Why think like that, when Bitcoin is getting more and more featured on the news and now a lot of people have heard of it? In a couple of years when the technology becomes more usable it will hopefully get massively adopted.

I don't really think by filling up contact forms or sending feedback to them is a good way to persuade e-commerce website like Amazon to accept bitcoin into their payment system. That's a good idea, there are many ways we can introduce bitcoin, one of which is to make it as one of the means a payment on online shopping sites. if we do this and people pay with bitcoin, then more and more will recognize bitcoin and eventually they will start using bitcoin and this is a good thing for bitcoin.

Thats a good idea but even if we do that Amazon cant instantly add Bitcoin as payment method. It is not an easy process and all the facts have to be calculated. They have to think about the transparency of bitcoin transactions because people cant make a dispute if they product they buyed is bad. Also they have to take in calculation the fees of bitcoin.

Looks good idea to me but that will need lots of efforts and unity in between world crowd. Just making two or three application to Amazon won't help us. We will need number of applicants that too from different country's. Then only they will start thinking about the implementation of this payment system. The reason for this is fairly easy to explain, because we tested it. The merchant signup for a payment processor and display a Bitcoin Accepted sticker in his window. Most of their employees have no clue and very little training on how to handle this payment option, so this creates frustration with the customers and those employees.

Looks like amazon gonna start accepting bitcoin payments from next month, but it can only be a rumor though.
If amazon will start accepting bitcoin than demand for bitcoin might surge a little bit and many other big merchants might start to add support for crypto/bitcoin.

This days everything starts from rumor's, big money is in the game and who join in early stages have more chances for huge profits, its all about that. I don't care much about Amazon, for me they are just one more online service, I care about bitcoin and I believe that bitcoin can be just stronger if Amazon as big company starts to accept bitcoin, and that will rise the price.

However, going beyond that because most of the large e-commerce sites exist within the confines of the law, it's really beyond them to accept based on users request. For example, AliExpress which is another major site domiciled in China, I don't think would consider the acceptance of bitcoin demanded by users based on asking alone without putting into consideration the body language of government authorities at the moment.

What I suggest is also targeting small unnoticeable stores who are trying to create a niche for themselves in the already filled market, with that they could easily accept because they would see it as an untapped market rather than going after the big names alone.

the long term effects are what matter most. the fact that Amazon accepting bitcoin will put bitcoin on the radar and make it more popular every day is the biggest effect that is a long term one. people who are afraid because some random dude called bitcoin a fraud will know it was bullshit and start seeing bitcoin for what it really is: a decentralized currency.

I think it is easy. Easy is not the question here. Effectiveness may not even be the question. Bitcoin's strength lies in its community being its most vocal advocates, being its loudest supporters. I think its growing success is the result of organic adoption. Even if you look back at the major retailers and payment services who've accepted Bitcoin in one way or other, it didn't lead to a massive surge of sales from Bitcoin.

I think that the only way to increase the demand is by adapting bitcoin to many services, maybe if we can add bitcoin to amazon/ebay/apple stores it would be much easier for "old customed" people to start learning about bitcoin, and they will feel so attracted that they will buy it.

Agree. I guess there should be many ways to make it possible without Amazon help. Since there is no restriction that delivery address should be same as cardholder address there is no need to pay Amazon directly. I think the app with cryptocurrency wallet inside could be able to pay Amazon from the app's owner account with fiat and after that charge its user with btc (or altcoin).

They're not going to do it with the current state of the cryptocurrency user base. There's too few of us, and even fewer are willing to actually spend Bitcoin. Bitcoin has massive potential for growth, fiat doesn't. It just makes much more sense to spend fiat the way things are now.

Consider the fact that bitcoin alone is now listed in the top ten currencies in the world by the world bank and the total market capitalization of bitcoin is greater than the GDP of many African and European countries and so cryptocurrency is involved in many of the businesses in the world today which is why the demand is increasing.

Probably until the coin is stable in terms of volatility, it would be hard for a company to accept it as payment. The risk is too great to hold massive amounts of bitcoins in wallets from thousands of orders and watch the value plummet because of a price movement. It is far easier and cheaper (transaction fees) to accept payment using their current methods, and for the users who can't use those payment methods they will miss out until there is a viable option.

Your idea is good and it shows your liking for Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies but my friend if things were so simple then the price of BTC would not have gone this down. Amazon is a very big e-commerce website in the world and it knows what Bitcoin is and how would it impact it's business if they started accepting it as a payment method. They know the consequences and this why they have not yet accepted it as a payment method. Filling a feedback form and creating a demand won't make a very good impact as of now.

I believe e-commerce sites like amazon is used by a lot of people all over the world, so if they accept; I think it will be a big step to increase Bitcoin's demand. Bitcoin is very volatile and feasible crypto currency and there is no matter of surprising if there is flactuation in the valuation of bitcoin, like all other investments its valuation also flactuates. And the valuation flactuation depends on various factor like market supply of bitcoin and amount of capital invested into bitcoin, there are many more factors that governs the valuation of bitcoin and to increase demand and to increase the valuation first awareness must be created among people so that more and more people can come to know about the bitcoin.

It would be a better idea however people would prefer to hold their btc for the meantime since as we all know market is volatile and will never know what will happen next. What if price of bitcoin will have an immediate rise then it will be a loss of profit since you had use your btc for your payment. Moreover,  people would still prefer to hold than spend.

I do not think Amazon will accept this offer. In fact, Amazon is a big company and they do not need to use blockchain technology. Maybe they only use Amazon gift cards

In order to increase bitcoin demand we need to convince an investor to a particular business or company. How ? By saying them the truth information about your entity and the opportunities it will bring to the investor, as simply as that. So when the demand will increase all people or users will benefit because the price of bitcoin will increase !

Cryptocurrency really does not work for all things. Sometimes customers want refunds. Anonymous customers can't get deliveries because, they won't give a name. And some merchants expect to solicit their customers or get feedback, and they keep records of everything. Plus, Amazon doesn't take paypal either: They aren't the most open on new forms of payment. But things can change in 10 or 20 years.

Just my two cents - in order for BTC to gain more traction the big investment houses/banks need to get in on the action - and they already are.

This will inevitably mean more regulation and controls - something that goes against the original principle of crypto I know - but it is necessary for it to become more mainstream and acceptable.

To increase the demand, there should be good news that will trigger individual to buy more bitcoin and no more negative news that make to get panic those who cannot handle that strong. Three reasons Amazon won't use bitcoin....

Apart from that I see no reason not to use it in any business-I was perfectly happy to take bitcoin etc in payment in my business, in fact my company website had the bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin logos on it and I would have happily taken payment, however in almost 2 years they were on the site i didn't get a single request to pay with crypto,

I do that with almost every online shop when you purchase goods or even just in search of something. As a rule, managers meet halfway or say that they will give information and request to the management and make some decision. There are no concrete results yet, but we hope for the best.

If many people are buying it and use it for something that accepts bitcoin as payment. If more and more stores will accept bitcoin as payment maybe many users will just use bitcoin instead of fiat on paying especially on overseas. Also it has no tax when using bitcoin as payment which is good.

Yes, I think what you say is a good idea. the more people who want to do transactions with bitcoin, I think it will affect the number of requests, and when demand gets bigger, I think it will affect the increase in the price of bitcoin.
