If there's one thing I hate more than large pre-mines, it's devs that lie or mislead.  I'm sure you're going to offer some convenient explanation now?

Okay then how is it at Block 2500+ within 2 minutes of the ANN?  What is 2500/12500?  It's 20%.  

If the devs mined an extra 10% before announcing, that doesn't somehow prevent it from being a pre-mine.

Edit: you might argue you're saying its 10% premine of total supply, not 10% of PoW.  But if you take 20% of PoW blocks as a pre-mine, then you will get 20% of the PoS blocks.  That's simple logic.  So you functionally took 20%.

What may have happened is that the moment we submitted the source code on Github users may already have started mining!!!! There are a few people who were creating the a few works for us, i suspect that may be one explanation!!

Yeah that's silly.  It's not a fair launch then.  You're not supposed to make the nodes live until you announce.  If you get a few blocks early it's not a big deal, but you're saying basically you and your friends get an extra 10% - an extra 1250 blocks.  

Good luck to anyone who wants to buy this, dev and his early-adopter friends might dump 1250 blocks on you as soon as price goes up.  I'm sure bet101 has good intentions - note I haven't used the word scam because I think you're honestly trying - but you can't launch a coin with bad economics of 10% insta-mine on top of the pre-mine.  The market won't accept it, so you need to re-launch or accept that you've launched a coin with the same economics as a 10% dev pre-mine.

In the interest of transparency,  Tonight, I was given the link to the GIT source for the purpose of setting up the pool.

I first noticed the POW mining in this block.




And the pools first block was ...




 

I was running the coinqwest with other people at the time, the source had a lot of bugs and the wallet sync was so messed up that the dev was unable to resolve the issue and 3 of the people in the project left, i could not run it on my own so had to halt the project.

Yeah, but hopes that one hour after Ann i would stiller get some with cpu. Never tried cpu mining scrypt before for that obvious reason :p buy there are many on the lookout for New coins and i guess even just one asic would make my cpu pretty useless :p

This is such a crucial point I want to re-emphasize it:

The pre-mine is 2.3 MILLION coins.
The total PoW supply is 625 THOUSAND coins.

There is no point mining a coin where you can only mine such a miniscule fraction of the supply.

Also, note that the ANN says:

The dev gets 2.5%, or 575000 coins.  So the dev starts out with a personal supply almost equal to the entire PoW supply.

Please spend your hard-earned hash at your own risk.

Edit: I have softened the language a little because I don't think the dev is hiding his personal pre-mine from the public.  I think it's just a ridiculously high personal pre-mine compared to the total PoW supply if you really think about it.  The dev gets 575k coins.  The entire PoW supply is 625k.  Yes there will be PoS after that, but won't the dev make up almost half the network weight?  Won't dev get almost half the PoS rewards?

You know what, you're right.  I apologize if I made it sound like you were hiding it.  I have edited out the part that makes it sound like I am accusing you of hiding something.  I am not accusing dev of scamming or hiding info.

My point isn't that you are hiding or misleading.  My point is the economics of this coin are just silly.  You personally get 575,000 coins and the entire PoW supply for everyone else is 625,000 coins.  Please let miners know why this is a good idea.

This isn't a personal attack.  But if people invest in coins like this, then get burned later because it had poor economics, the cycle will keep repeating itself.  I'm trying to promote a healthier ecosystem by encouraging people to only invest time/money/hash in promising projects, with good fundamentals.  That will encourage devs to launch coins with good fundamentals.  Otherwise devs will keep pushing the envelope with bad pre-mine and insta-mine arrangements.

Thanks, may be did not ask more specific. understand developer needed to be rewared. but the concern is 2.3M vs  625K which is 1/4 is only for the the miner rewards seems like off balance. We also know that miners are one important part of the Crypto eco system.

A coin is only as strong as the community wants it to be!! If you decide to mine the coin and keep it long term and start to make profit because you actually own it makes a lot of a difference. I saw coins on yobbit.net with amazing ANN everybody was invited to mine with 20% premine and i dont know what more, after 24 hours in the exchange it was worth nothing anyone was selling it for nothing practically.

i am very sure that many will agree with me .... shut it down and make a new start on things with a better outlook!
shutting it down now would be the smartest thing to do and would save alot of people from spending cash trying to mine it uselessly!

I know, but that's a point that no one even cares to mention, we can not forget this is not a charity organisation, so if we premin coins there is always a reason for itm trying to get. But when i get accused of trying to hide premines and other things i dont take very well.

the issue is most likely with your conf file, try this:

COPY THE CODE AND PASTE IT TO REPLACE THE OTHER TEXT IN THE CONF FILE.


Also don't forget that he file name title has to be lower case "knox.conf" not "KNOX.CONF"

   All payouts has been pass throught well. What are you talking about? I even have put additional 100+ coin to cover transaction fees for first miners. And 41 KNOX is only left from mine 100+. I suppose the only delay reason can be that KNOX maturity(after it mined) reach little longer than usual scrypt coins I have setted for mining before. So let`s repeat again: Have you recieved your payouts?

If you have been exposed into the crypto community for a while, then you would have heard of PoS (Proof-of-Stake). It is a mining concept available to some of the traded coins, which bases the coins you mine depending on the amount of coins you possess, meaning a person who owns 1,000 coins would mine more than a person with 10 coins regardless of their computing power. Some people would welcome this concept, while some would shun away from it as they continue to be skeptics; but as coins like Etherium (ETH) are starting to warm up to PoS, there must be some advantages to this type of mining, but what could they be? From what I can gather, these are some fundamental benefits for PoS.


Resource

This is perhaps the most obvious advantage of PoS. As PoW uses massive amounts of computing power, it also comes with a huge toll on the electricity bill, not to mention the deterioration of your mining computer. I would say, thousands of heavily powered computers around the world would have a huge green house effect. With PoS, you would be able to stake using something as simple as a Raspberry Pi (USD 35), which only uses a very small amount of electricity would enable you to stake more coins compared to a super computer. That’s assuming you have more coins staking on your Raspberry Pi. The effects are especially visible for countries with high electricity costs. For people worried about large electricity bills and global warming issues, this is the obvious choice.


Price Volatility

As you know, the miners serve as nodes who guard the ledger and confirm transactions, which in turn enables them to earn coins by solving hashes in the blockchain. It is up to the miner to decide whether to keep or sell the earned coin. As mining is expensive as mentioned above, you can’t blame miners for selling the coins they earn. The problem is, if there’s not much demand for a coin, this pushes the price down. As some miners would sell, the other holders would get jittery and… you get the point. Perfect example of this is the anon coin, ZCash, which plunged the price by a fraction of what it already is (around USD 35) as miners would automatically just sell all coins to the highest bidder. Speaking of anon coins, if you compare anon coins like ZEC, XMR and SDC (SDC being the only PoS), you can find which coin is the most stable.
The reason why a PoS would give you price stability is because it gives the person more incentive to keep the coin than to sell. If a miner could make more coins using the coin that he mined from, he would think twice before selling.


Decentralization

The reason why PoW is so popular is because this is what Bitcoin has introduced. This has provided the global community with a decentralized form of currency. People imagine their humble computers would serve as nodes keeping all the transactions safe. However, as entities like China have invested a few billion dollars worth of supercomputers with the sole purpose of mining bitcoins, enabling them to mine a huge chunk (I would say around 80% of all mined coins). Isn’t that in a way, a centralized currency?
PoS would minimize that possibility as it would provide tons of risks for China or any other entity planning a buy-out. Would a staker sell his principal coin to anyone if he’s guaranteed a certain cashflow? Within that scenario, stakers would realize that the longer you hold, the more expensive your coins would get.


Security

Of course there are both upside and downside in terms of PoS and PoW security, but the most important part of securing a coin is arguably by protecting its blockchain.
Compromising a blockchain involves inserting incorrect information into the data where the whole decentralized system would accept; in order to do that, you would need a large amount influence. When we talk about influence, PoW and PoS would classify them differently. PoW is measured by computing power, where PoS uses coin ownership.
If a malicious Super PC (the billion dollar PC China already has) would want to compromise a competing coin, he only needs to stop mining on his coin for a few hours and target the coin. Answer: Obviously 800 of your coins generated stake and now you have to wait 512 blocks before they'll be available for spending again. That's how stake blocks (and stake rewards) are generated. If you want to make sure this doesn't happen you have to set the reserve balance field in the knox.conf file.

you say this coin comes with limited supply. Isn't that sentence flawed in itself when you switch to POS?

The fact is that at this very moment we have a total circulation of "2.790.787", there will be a yearly 2% increase on that number = "27908", that means the KNX is a controlled currency increasing when people are minting the coin, these 2% increase will be distributed to coin owners, so yes i think its a limited supply for now. There are no 20M or 50M coins available where anyone can dump it and bring down its value due to so called inflation, when there is more supply as demand. The more people are going to start to own the coin the more valuable it will be.
 
If we manage to get 1000 people holding KNX this will be like 3000 Coins per KNX holder, thats not much. I agree with you that when we reach the 23M KNX than yes it will not be a limited distribution anymore, but this will happen in the next future years.

Well for your info, the dev has not sold one coin on Nova exchange to make the price drop, this is the work of some people selling to make a quick buck.

Everyone is entitled to do whatever they think is their right choice, its not the first time i pointed out that people should be patient and try to raise the value of our asset. If some people are happy to make $40 or $50 thats their problem but i dont think its correct pointing the finger at the dev.
